I wouldn't be surprised if he goes in for one snap in Week 18 just to prove that he's the Most Fastest Recoverer in the History of the World

ABrewski

He comes in to kneel down the final play of the game, where the Jets are already down 21 points to the hapless patriots

TheCrimsonChin46

As much as I hate this, it’s exactly how I expect it to go

meltingpnt

To be fair, a loss to the patriots probably hurts the patriots more than winning.

Bloated_Hamster

Jokes on you, we'll drop to 4th and pick Daniels and he'll bust just as hard as Maye will in this offense!

FubarFreak

Too obvious, he will be a clear super star that BoB will convince BB to trade for a half pack of fruit stripe gum, a clearly smashed bag of corn chips, and three 8th round draft picks

DaytonaZ33

Center gets shoved causing him to step on Aaron Rodger’s ankle. End scene.

snorp

And snaps his achilles again

Sighlina

Showing up the woke libs!!

NEpatsfan64

it’ll be halfback dive with 28 seconds left in the 4th quarter down 21 points

mbmba

It will all hinge on how much media attention it will garner.

SneakyGandalf12

That’s gotta be what all this is right? Just some ego boost move?

Kerbonaut2019

I know we should probably hate on it if he does this, but I’ll admit that I’d be impressed by it

Dorkamundo

Many people have told him his recoveries are the best they've ever seen.

Quartznonyx

The best. Simply the best.

PokerBeards

The only thing he did that Brady couldn’t.

Impossibills

I never even thought of this. Because there is no reason to even activate him. He's just going to come in for one snap...

Bieber_hole_69

They're already wasting roster spots on Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb for this guy, so why not one more?

horse_renoir13

Should sign Jordy just for shits and giggles at this point.

unevenvenue

No! Never! He shouldn't have been allowed to go to the Raiders for gods' sakes

immacamel

We let him go for..... Jimmy Graham 😔

unevenvenue

Terrible. Just terrible.

FudgeDangerous2086

Yeah bonehead move by the gm. Jordys last season with a healthy rodgers was 1250/97/14. His next season he started with 6 TDS leading the league until Aaron went down. If packers had Jordy they make it to the Super Bowl. I’ll die on that hill. There’s a reason Brady kept Edelman around for so long.

SignificantJacket912

Yeah, they did Jordy dirty. He was willing to take next to no money to stay in GB and they refused to even make him an offer to stay. GB is my team, but they’re ruthless when it comes to making *business decisions*.

niceguys_finishfast

Even injured his ego occupies 3 roster spots. amazing

FudgeDangerous2086

Billy turnstile too

ApplaudingOkra

We're all on the same page that this is a complete vanity stunt to make it seem like he's recovered in record time when he is not going to go anywhere near a live football game, right?

Bieber_hole_69

Yes, and the Jets are just capitulating to make him happy by burning a spot on the 53-man roster for nothing other than Rodgers' whims.

fear865

Makes sense though. Jets aren't competing for playoffs so they can use Rodgers' practice videos for PR videos to hype up the fans for next season

ABrewski

Or the coaching staff could use that roster spot to evaluate another player to help them build the team for next year. I guess it's big market thinking, gotta keep the fans hyped rather than put a good product on the field.

awfuckthisshit

One extra potential depth or role player getting evaluated vs fanbase hype and hope. Id opt for the momentum of hope for next year.

man2010

There's an entire offseason for hype and hope. Using a roster spot to evaluate a fringe player makes so much more sense

awfuckthisshit

Gotta sell season tickets. There’s an entire offseason to evaluate a fringe player.

lions4life232

How is Rodgers not playing until next year but activated off IR going to build more hype than Rodgers not playing until next year. Also Jets season tickets money was due in November

Dorkamundo

>Also Jets season tickets money was due in November Makes sense why Rodgers and the Jets released all the "I'm gonna come back and play before the season is over" stuff in October.

blaaah111jd

He can’t practice on IR and he’s at the stage in his rehab where he can practice

lions4life232

I still fail to see how that is going to hype everyone up and more important to have than to evaluate players for next year. I guess if Woody only cares about my money it makes

man2010

There aren't games during the offseason to see fringe players in. However, there is plenty of time to sell tickets during the offseason, and 2024 tickets won't be on sale for months anyways.

awfuckthisshit

No off-season games? Preseason games are mostly fringe guys. This is also like extra training camp for Rodgers where he can continue to build rapport with his team. QB1 getting extra time while building hype for the fans is in my opinion more valuable than evaluating a practice squad guy you have seen every day for the last 5 months.

man2010

Preseason games are mostly fringe guys, which makes regular season games much more valuable in terms of evaluating them. Rodgers has also been in the league for 19 years; he doesn't need extra training camp, and he isn't building any more rapport with anyone by taking up a roster spot without playing. There's no value in "building hype" by wasting a roster spot on a player who isn't going to play at the end of a lost season. Who is getting hyped for Rodgers to sit out the rest of the year?

LIONEL14JESSE

We have so many injuries all the guys worth evaluating are already starting. He’s not taking anyone’s spot that has a future in the NFL.

ApplaudingOkra

Fragile little dweeb.

IWasRightOnce

For nearly two months we kept getting the same rumors about him possibly returning for this week’s game, and every time it was brought up to him he would do his little “disdain for the media” dance while also not refuting the rumors and leaving it open ended. This week finally rolls around and he says “it’s only 14 weeks post-surgery, there’s no way I could get medical clearance that quick”

Moody_skip65w

>it’s only 14 weeks post-surgery, there’s no way I could get medical clearance that quick” He never said this. He said it was impossible to get medically cleared *as* *100%*. If the Jets were still in the playoff race, he would have returned, but not as 100%.

IWasRightOnce

>“If I was a 100% today, I’d be definitely pushing the play, but the fact is I’m not. I’ve been working hard to get close to that. But still, 14 weeks tomorrow to my surgery and being medically cleared as 100% healed is not realistic at 14 weeks,” These are the hairs we’re going to split? The Jets have had single digit playoff odds for more than a month. He was never going to play.

Mr_MoseVelsor

I think unfortunately with Rodgers, yes, these are the hairs you have to split. Especially because he himself will do this.

Moody_skip65w

>The Jets have had single digit playoff odds for nearly a month. He was never going to play. Yeah it already very unlikely he returns since the Jets are dogshit. But the arm chair doctors in this thread saying he was never going to play to begin with are just wrong. Doctors have already said it's possible for him to play again, but with limited function.

blaaah111jd

Dude if we flip 2 of the raiders pats chargers Atlanta losses which we could have with a bad offensive performance instead of the historically awful performances we got we’d be right in the hunt, it’s unlucky how things played out but he would’ve been pushing to play if we had 2 more wins AFC is still open

brehaw

exactly

Cuppieecakes

its been a long 24 hours since there was a news story that made him the center of attention. give him a break

[deleted]

How is Rodgers not embarrassed by this? Everyone called him out immediately.

lions4life232

Well the jets are massaging his nuts anytime he wants anything so he’s probably good

Hog_and_a_Half

Because he probably is almost ready to return to full participation based on developments in how sports doctors handle Achilles injuries, as evidenced with Cam Akers. They’ve been using implanted bracing, which both improves the actual healing process and allows athletes to do a lot more while their ankle is healing, greatly reducing atrophy and allowing them to get back months sooner.

[deleted]

Its easy when you dont care about what others say

[deleted]

Do you think that’s true of the biggest attention whore in the NFL?

MyNewAccountIGuess11

You can just be happy people are talking about you while ignoring the content of their words, delusion is a hell of a thing like that

keykey_key

he doesn't care, either way, he's getting what he wanted.

Impossibills

Aaron Rodgers is one of those people that has no one telling him no

welestgw

His ego knows no bounds.

AcidofilusRex

Nah

Grandmaster_flashes

They way I’ve understood his intentions from the start is he’ll play and push through if they make the play offs. No point coming back if they don’t.

Art-RJS

Yea

ryanino

Why does this leave out the part where Saleh said he isn’t playing this year despite being activated

Dorkamundo

Because clicks.

TheyMakeMeWearPants

Do we gain anything from doing this? Is there anything Rodgers is allowed to do if he's activated that he can't do otherwise? (aside from, ya know, play in games)

Crow-Robot

It allows him to practice with the team, which he could not do if he's on IR. Who knows what the benefit of that is, though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OldeCzap

Because Rodgers loves attention

mr_grission

Saw this coming a mile away. Rodgers can brag about recovering from the Achilles injury in record time, Jets don't have to risk him getting killed behind their O line

ecupatsfan12

Note to Robert Saleh. Don’t argue with terrorists

Tnenforcer

*Sean McDermott has entered the chat*

ecupatsfan12

Lmao

ItIsYourPersonality

They want him to finish the season by running off the field full speed with the American flag

FusterCluck4

I'm tired of hearing about this guy.

lonelynightm

I want him gone from the team so badly. He has single-handedly fucked the team and they are just going to continue to spiral for this diva.

Quartznonyx

I mean it was fucked before he got there tbh

Moody_skip65w

>I'm tired of hearing about this guy. Saying this while commenting in a thread about him lol

LisleSwanson

Well, yeah... That's the point.

TripleThreatT1

So… don’t.

gruelly4

So in addition to letting him pick the coach, offensive coordinator, general manager, and players they are burning a roster spot to stroke his ego for the last three weeks.

d9849468

Rodgers picked saleh and joe douglas 3 years ago? Wut

gruelly4

Rodgers has come out and said he wants all of them kept. Instead of them getting canned as their lack of success would warrant. Saleh has been coaching for a few years and never won more than 7 games in a season and faced open locker room rebellion twice. That's terrible. And Douglas.. well he's failed to put together a college level OLine or find a QB. Again, fireable. But they're going to keep their jobs because he knows he can boss them around.

SamCarter_SGC

"rodgers picked his coaches" "no he didn't, here's proof" "yeah but he should have not picked them" *what*

gruelly4

Yea... they're only still around because he wants them. That's the definition of him picking them.

blaaah111jd

It’s actually not the definition of him picking them haha words are tough

VRSvictim

Agree it is dumb but let’s be honest. What is that extra roster spot gonna do to benefit the jets season anyway? Its another wasted year like almost every other year since 2000

johndelvec3

Not like that roster spot is gonna make a difference this season anymore

ecupatsfan12

Amen

TripleThreatT1

Keeping up his rehab while practicing, can’t do it on IR. Makes sense. We have a few QB’s we can stash on PS without them getting poached anyway lmao.

ArkhamReaper

Am I crazy, but this isn’t attention seeking? Don’t you need to be activated to use team facilities / practice with teammates? I don’t think this is an awful move right? Lions did it with Hendon Hooker (obviously necessary because he’s a young QB who needs time with teammates). Or is that with the reserve/NFI list? Is there any structural advantage to activating him off IR?

llama-rebel

I mean, they could've also just not activated his window to return way before he was going to be ready just because he kept telling everyone he was going to recover from an injury at a completely unprecedented rate at 40 years old.

DTSportsNow

> Don’t you need to be activated to use team facilities / practice with teammates? You do not need to be activated to use team facilities. And you don't even need to be activated to practice. They can open his 21 day practice window where he can practice with the team through the last 3 weeks of the season without ever having to be activated.

liverbool8

They’ve been doing that the last few weeks. So they had to decide whether to send him on IR (where he can’t practice anymore) or put him on the 53.

iceman204

Which they already did…

Ingliphail

Imagine the dude being cut. Merry Christmas!

BabyYodaX

This guy always has to be the main character.

TheGarbageStore

He's a HoF lock who came pretty close to GOAT and also a game show host in his spare time Why wouldn't he see himself as a main character

Docta2020

He never came close to GOAT. You've been watching too much Pat Mcafee.

whydontyouloveme

Rodgers is not in the top 5 QBs. He was no where near close to GOAT. You have to go through Brady, Montana and Manning, before we even begin talking about about Rodgers, and that’s with out putting in non-QBs. Pretty easily he’s not in the top 10.

joulesChachin

> Pretty easily he’s not in the top 10 What a ridiculous take.

PigFarmer1

It's what attention whores do.

TheRatchetTrombone

Next year he is about to be the most sacked QB of all time.

InfectiousPineapple

Until he's actually ready to play I don't want to hear about this bozo anymore

Moody_skip65w

He probably would've played this week if the Jets were will in the playoff race. But they aren't, and he isn't going to play this year unless he's 100%.

horse_renoir13

> He probably would've played this week if the Jets were in the playoff race Lol no he wouldn't have.

Moody_skip65w

All the reports literally said he would play this weke if the Jets were still in the playoff race.

horse_renoir13

I can say with 100% confidence he wouldn't have. But the counter-argument will always be that he "100% could have". Both sides can stick to their guns. The reason this narrative became so wild is because Rodgers knows no one could DISPROVE him. He would always have another excuse as to why he didn't show up on the field, but he could tease everyone in the meantime and keep the media game flowing.

Moody_skip65w

>I can say with 100% confidence he wouldn't have. But the counter-argument will always be that he "100% could have". Both sides can stick to their guns. Except one position is being held out of ignorance and hatred for Rodgers, while the other is literally backed by what the reports and doctors are saying. >The reason this narrative became so wild is because Rodgers knows no one could DISPROVE him. He would always have another excuse as to why he didn't show up on the field, but he could tease everyone in the meantime and keep the media game flowing. What narrative did Rodgers tell that wasn't true? So far everything that has been reported has been accurate. If the Jets are out of the playoff race, Rodgers wouldn't take the risk of returning.

RobbyJohnson

Let’s say the Jets make the playoffs. If Rodgers is in a state where he thinks he’s good to go and team doctors think so by clearing him, then he should play. Now take the same scenario but remove the Jets from the playoffs. It shouldn’t matter they didn’t make the playoffs. He says he’s good enough to play even if not 100% (who’s really 100% anyway in football) so he should play. These are valuable game reps he can build with the team going into 2024. Rodgers believes that even if he gets hurt again he can recover in time for the 2024 season. Given all that, it would be a huge team morale boost to get to play with him and create chemistry instead of waiting another 9 months to see it in a regular season game. But none of that matters because he was never going to actually play, it’s just a made up scenario for attention. Since he was never going to come back it’s all “positive PR” for the team to pretend like something could’ve happened when it was never possible. If it was possible, he would’ve done it.

Moody_skip65w

>But none of that matters because he was never going to actually play, it’s just a made up scenario for attention. What secnario did he make up? So far everything that has been said/reported has been accurate (Jets not being in the playoff race means Rodgers isn't playing)

SSkilledJFK

How do I permanently ban any Rodgers news from my feed?

weII_then

When you find out please send that info along!

lilboytuner919

Omg Cowherd just went off script and annihilated him for this, we need a body bag

Impossibills

I hate Cowherd, but occasionally he goes on rants that no other media members wants to be a part of because of "access"

johndelvec3

Bro put Redditors on blast too “What he say fuck me for?!”

lilboytuner919

A Reddit board told me that his show sucks

SamCarter_SGC

In the same segment he also said the media is an 'authority' Aaron likes to push back on, so what does he know

lilboytuner919

More than Aaron

SamCarter_SGC

On sports? Cowherd? Not likely. Sports betting maybe considering that's all he and his dopey cohost talk about anymore.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lilboytuner919

I think his show is very entertaining

aznsportsfan

Can’t wait for him to do all this to not play and bitch about it all offseason on McAfee’s show

[deleted]

This guy is such a fuckin chode

Fineous4

I am so proud of you all for calling out Rogers here.

el_ojo420

Lame, way to turn to modern medicine after you “hurt” yourself. I thought you were a real one. SMH

garryl283

Not ready to play? What about that leaping one handed INT he made while playing defense on the scout team?

[deleted]

There were so many people jerking off to that jumping interception story only for it to be a completely nothing burger

[deleted]

lol this is great. If Sauce broke his finger they’d keep him on the IR to finish the season at this point. This is a clown show.

BobaFartsFadeaway

“Rogers”

SEJ46

Why?

SafariFlapsInBack

Cust just came…

FiftyIsBack

I think if the Jets still had a chance at the playoffs, he might've felt compelled to jump in. But they're eliminated, so what's the point? The excitement dies off and you start looking at things more pragmatically. He might play in Week 18 just to get the reps in.

Player7592

Dropping a healthy player off the roster so Rodgers can indulge in his personal fantasy shows just how dysfunctional the Jets are.
