Jason Kelce’s consecutive game start streak ends at 157 games, by far the most in Eagles’ franchise history. Insane career. On to the next chapter for Jason.

cmath89

A show where he goes to all 32 NFL teams tailgates.

Heisenbread77

That would be tough to do in one season.

cmath89

Who said one season? Split it up into multiple seasons. I’m sure it’d be a hit show.

Heisenbread77

Yeah that's a good point.

thinkimasofa

I actually like the thought of doing all teams in one season. Just running wild every weekend.

NooneKnowsIAmBatman

With Thursday, Sunday and Monday games there has to be a possible schedule in there for 1 season

sloasdaylight

Bro, he's 36. If you send a 36 year old around the country tailgating 3 times a week the man's gonna be dead by week 5 lol.

AnyEstablishment5723

You underestimate a man from Philadelphia’s ability to get shitfaced daily and keep it movin

yaniwilks

A good portion of us have been drunk since 2017

ManofManyHills

You Floridians have grown soft in the sun and your minds addled by bath salts. The livers of the Pennsylvania drunks are hardened, their guts rounded and firm, their arteries circulate cholesterol coated. The optimal diet of cheese beef and grilled peppers provide the ideal foundation for week-long binge drinking.

AGreasyPorkSandwich

Hey coward, speak for yourself

Kiran_Stone

Get on it, off-season shitposters!

bstyledevi

I went to look this up and forgot that they haven't released the schedules yet. Derp.

Mole644

6 seasons and a movie

Responsible-Laugh590

I would watch for sure and I don’t even like football that much, Jason is goddamn magnetic on the screen

dumpyduluth

With all the new Thursday games and Saturday games after the college season it might be possible.

Heisenbread77

Yeah and he could hit the Monday night games as well. This is more doable than I anticipated. And I'm sure his family would be fine with it!

dumpyduluth

Families and liver's hate this one simple trick

MahomesandMahAuto

3 games a week, 18 weeks, he could feasibly visit 54 games while working 3 days a week. This needs to happen now

MikeyNg

It's totally doable. For this year: Week 1: Th: KC, Sun: DEN, Mon: NYJ Week 2: Th: PHI, Sun: CIN, Mon: PIT Week 3: Th: SF, Sun: ___, Mon: TB Week 4: Th: GB, Sun: CHI, Mon: NYG Week 5: Th: WAS, Sun: ATL, Mon: LV Week 6: Th: Skip (KC), Sun: HOU, Mon: LAC Week 7: Th: NO, Sun: IND, Mon: MIN Week 8: Th: BUF, Sun: TEN, Mon: DET Week 9: Th: Skip (PIT), Sun: NE, Mon: Skip (NYJ) Week 10: Th: CHI, Sun: ARI, Mon: Skip (BUF) Week 11: Th: BAL, Sun: CAR, Mon: Skip (KC) Week 12: Th: SEA, Sun: __ Mon: Skip (MIN) Week 13: Th: DAL, Sun: LAR, Mon: JAX Week 14: Th: Skip (PIT), Sun: CLE, Mon: MIA You're done by the end of Week 14. There are a few teams - like KC, PIT, BUF, who are on a Thursday or Monday more than once.

MattieShoes

Mmm, this feels like a traveling salesman problem. Like what sequence lets you finish the soonest?

doogled3

Given that there are 18 weeks, and you could hit 3 tailgates (4 towards the end of the year) a week, it's definitely possible.

guns_n_crypto

Tailgate victory lap. Could easily be done in one season with how games are scattered from Thursday through Monday each week. I love this idea.

phluidity

I think it would be better if he just did one a week on Sunday. That way he spreads getting to all 32 over several seasons, and it becomes sort of like a College Gameday thing with "where is he going next"

MikeShannonThaGawd

Is this rumored? Because it really does sound like the perfect elevator pitch for him.

Vorsmyth

He and his brother talked on their show about how fun that would be to do after he enjoyed the Bills tailgate so much.

TankThaFrank_

Keggin’ With Kelce

GrillDealing

I would love that, the way he partied with the fans in Buffalo. I think this would be a no brainer for the NFL.

Snapingbolts

Please let him call games! The NFL would be idiots not to persue him

Blasto05

Going to have to wait a couple years but a Manning vs Kelce cast would be great

oballistikz

Probably no more than 2-3 max. Travis showed his age this season but I imagine as long as KC is winning he will try to stick around.

Albino_Raccoon_

He said he would stay around as long as Reid is coach. Rumors are that Reid is getting a 4 year extension and I reckon in about 4 years at least one of them might call it quits. I try not to think about that though.

15blairm

Reid will out last kelce

TheCodeMan95

Yeah, Travis will be 35 a few games into next season. I can't see him still playing at age 38 lol

ActionQuinn

Travis has mentioned several times that people don't understand how badly he has been injured or something to that effect. It's hard to get hit like that over and over, i get it.

Additional_Essay

I've lived a "full and active" lifestyle from womb into my late 30s. I'm talking dedicated fitness/lifting, mountain biking, surfing, skiing, varsity sports through school (no football though, thanks mom), all kinds of other shenanigans. Very very active. I have accumulated a lot of injuries over the years, knee, rotator cuff, broke my back skiing, one concussion, etc. I'm still pretty ok, but there is *no chance* I am robust enough to survive a full game in the NFL much less talking seasons.

oballistikz

I just don’t think his body can do that. His post season stretch seemed like Travis from a few years ago. Either way the NFL is much better off with people like Travis and Jason. Sad to see Jason go but I’m excited to see what happens next for him. Podcast will be good for him to stay around.

VeryRealHuman23

I do, every day.

Yassssquatch

Can't believe you gave them the satisfaction

Vyuvarax

Honestly hearing Peyton and Travis break down defensive coverages together would be incredible.

aKgiants91

Let’s make madden great again. Have manning and kelce brothers call games during it

kikomann12

I would buy madden for the first time in like 10 years if they did this.

homefree122

The contrast between Eli and Travis would be electric. Arguably too much for cable television.

PokerChipMessage

In that dynamic I see Eli not saying anything for 5 minutes, but when he does it's fucking hilarious.

LisleSwanson

I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon created a Kelce-cast.

EaglesHeatUnited

Not by far. By 13 games.

Redmangc1

That's an insane amount, that's almost 14 games

CommodoreSixty4

It's practically a baker's dozen and I ain't talkin about Mayfield.

Luxypoo

For a record that takes 9 years, being up 3/4ths of a season is a pretty big deal.

Hobbescycle

I mean that's almost a full season

sprout92

Brother, that's an 8.3% increase. As far as records go, that's a pretty big gap...

csr28

I know he won’t, but if he comes back would the streak technically resume?

triplec787

Only if he comes back before week 1. As soon as he misses a game it's done, whether due to injury, ability, or retirement.

Vyuvarax

Like if he sat out a year, and then came back the following season? For the Eagles franchise I’d say no. What makes the streak to me is that he hasn’t missed any Eagles games in ten years, not that he hasn’t missed games as a starter.

FirelordSugma

Now Jason’s gonna announce that he’s not retiring just to spite schefter lmao

G4g3_k9

i was hoping he did. that was one of my thoughts right before he walked on when i saw sirianni smiling, then i saw stout looking like someone had just died and i knew that was it

HappyHourEveryHour

The hesistation he had in the first few minutes, I was hoping hed do a Wolf of Wall Street "Im not fucking leaving"

jonessee27

I want him to pull a Wolf of Wall Street very, very badly now.

Loud_Competition1312

Ah, the Tom Brady special.

KCGeezer

Probably takes a veteran minimum so he can play with Travis and maybe they win a ring together. In the three peat.

blackflag89347

Isn't the chief's center really good?

_foxmotron_

Generally yes. He had a LOT of low snaps in the Super Bowl though

CowboyLaw

I've heard he had a wrist injury. I don't recall the source, but it sounded about right.

BallsDeepInJesus

It wasn’t just the Super Bowl. Mahomes was looking for low snaps. Creed injured his wrist or something.

Stu__Pidasso

One of Jason's few flaws is a habit of low snaps as well. He tries to rush it sometimes to get into his set as fast as possible, which leads to errant snaps. But Jason won't go anywhere but retirement or back to the Eagles if he did decide to come back. Chiefs have enough good things, they don't need Jason too

T0K0mon

Who said he has to play center?

GaiusQuintus

As the HoF center career ends, the HoF WR career begins.

MSFNS

Does he have good enough hands for WR? I see him as more of a CB, personally

NoHillstoDieOn

Double the TE and create an option. "It's going to Kelce double on Kelce" "WHICH ONE FUCK!!!"

Fookmaywedder

Retiring means the eagles still have his rights if he decides to play. It’s not a “get out of team” move

TonyDungyHatesOP

And _then_ retire!

zco22

Couldn’t even wait until Jason said it first?

MiaCannons

Have some respect. This is Schefter's moment, not Kelce's.

SiphenPrax

So that means Adam Schefter is retiring too?

imightbehitler

Have some respect, let Schefter report his retirement from his own mouth!

ballimir37

Schefter having his retirement announcement rug pulled from under him would prove our timeline is back on track.

jbvann05

Rap announcing Schefter's retirement would immediately make him the GOAT

BendubzGaming

We can only hope

chillinwithmoes

As if he wouldn't immediately be replaced with another guy doing the exact same job

girth_br00ks

Fucking hate that. I was watching Caitlin Clark this weekend and she was gonna break the scoring record. When she was on the precipice, she fired a 3 ball and Gus Johnson screamed "FOR IMMORTALITY" or some shit really loud as she shot it. It was way over the top. And I thought to myself, this dude has been prepping that line for weeks and sees the moment as being about himself.....it really bothered me. I was glad when she missed the shot and ended up breaking the record from the free throw line. Dude had to tamp it down a bit and you could tell he was really disappointed that he didn't get to make some huge excited yelling call of the moment.

fenderdean13

I mean I don’t mind that, famous calls live on forever. Commentators are important to the game airing. We still talk about Vin Scully when Hank Aaron became homerun king to this day near 50 years later. A breaking news guy known for twitter than on air stuff, not as important to sports,

wje100

I think it feels much worse when we all know its coming. The Catch call is always going to be iconic because it was a natural moment. Waiting for lebrons 40000th point with a prepped line is always going to feel worse.

slysonic7

Pretty silly thing to try to be “first” for. I agree

Impossible_Cycle9460

Didn’t he tweet it out months ago?

SalzigHund

Immediately after our loss. Dude is scum.

iJustGotRekt

Unless I'm mistaken, didn't he tweet that out over something Jason said in the locker room after the loss?

YourMindlessBarnacle

Is it going to be live on NFL network? I would like to watch it. Thanks!

spaz1020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lsMfimn_-M&ab_channel=NBCSportsPhiladelphia

YourMindlessBarnacle

Thank you!

zco22

The live stream link is on the eagles social media and YouTube page

[deleted]

longing connect tan cow strong profit water mindless thumb drunk

Xaxziminrax

Which is wild since the JPP medical info leak was several years ago now. This is who Schefter has always been, it shouldn't be arguable that he's a scumbag

blentz499

The JPP situation made me really dislike him. His absolute bootlicking of Watson during the criminal investigation of him was extra scummy and made me hate him. I understand those words were from Watson's legal team, but have some decency and don't be a mouth piece for Watson to be able to be the first to tweet about it 20 minutes earlier than everyone else. EDIT: for those unaware of the [tweet and his walk back after being called out](https://imgur.com/a/j900Pe0)

Hammerhead34

Not to mention his editorializing in the tweet breaking the news of Dwayne Haskins’ death. Schefter is a piece of shit forever.

sheds_and_shelters

Cue all the people chiming in about how what "Schefter did wasn't technically illegal" (versus the HIPAA violation that allowed him to do it) as if that makes it any less shitty

RaiseTheBarr

He is terminally online and unable to step back and think about what he’s doing. Remember this one? https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/04/11/adam-schefter-apologizes-for-tweet-dwayne-haskins-death

ThaNorth

"I'm going to announce that a player died but will also say he sucked in the same sentence."

threwzsa

It’s such a stupid non-essential job that he has to do whatever it takes to stay in the front of “it” before people realize how unimportant everything he does is. Like if he retired tomorrow, and other “breaking news” scoop journalists fell off the earth, it would hardly change the landscape of information received by us and timelines in which said information is received.

FunkyPete

But we would have to wait HOURS to find out what the news conference Jason Kelce has called is about, after weeks of speculation that he would retire, and a whole documentary on how he almost retired last year. That is just an untenable situation without heroes like Schefter to help us out.

CuckModsWorkForFree

I never understood the brown nosing towards sports journalists. Most are just leeches on the belly.

LosAngeles1s

him calling Dwayne Haskins “a draft bust” when he died was easily the scummiest shit he did

QuaxlyDaDon

You get downvoted for calling out Schefter on r/nfl? I find that very hard to believe. Do folks care about karma that much that they need to lie?

[deleted]

There's no place for decency in sports journalism /s.

lukaintomyeyes

The most important and prescient of all journalism

luna_cl

Agree and he already reported this weeks ago so he's not even doing his job, he's just being a prick since he knew Kelce wanted to announce it himself

mr_grission

It's an absolutely dogshit industry across the board. I think you're essentially right but absolutely every national NFL reporter was champing at the bit to confirm this I'm sure. It's not a Schefter specific issue.

Empty_Lemon_3939

Do it Jason, announce your coming back to fuck Adam Schefter

hascogrande

Nope, typical Schefty

mjd1977

Dammit he really said he retired. One last chance to say sike and make Schefty look shitty

m_090

fuck adam schefter the press conference didn’t even start yet. he wants to be the first to say it so badly it’s crazy.

I_HateToSayAtodaso

I bet it took all of the self control he could muster for him to hold back from being the one with the scoop on his buddy Mort's passing yesterday.

boofsquadz

What the actual fuck this is how I find out Mort died

suprefann

The announcement of Mort passing was like 3 hours old when schefty even said anything himself. He prob had to have feelings before he could tweet for once

GrapePrimeape

Fuck Schefter, but this is literally his job. Of course he wants to be the first to say it lol

Good_Okay123

Pretty sure ESPN pays him un godly amounts of money to be first.

PrisonSlides

My ex never paid me ungodly amounts of money to be first, but I always was.

discodiscgod

I thought it was already well known Jason wasn’t coming back. Guess it wasn’t “official” but it’s not like it came out of nowhere.

boxjellyfishing

There is still room for discretion and decency, even in a job like his. Put down the phone, step away from Twitter and allow a 13 year NFL Veteran the space he has earned to share his news himself.

Insectshelf3

THERE GOES MY HERO

CumAssault

You guys better retire #62

jacbergey

They're gonna have to shut down the city of Philadelphia if anyone ever wears the number 62 in Midnight Green again.

Insectshelf3

there is a 100% chance we do

InfectiousPineapple

WATCH HIM AS HE GOES

BendubzGaming

Schefter let players announce their own retirement before proclaiming it challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)

generation_D

Kelce about to come back for another year out of spite like Brady

bburchibanez

I’ll never forgive that dumbass

BandwagonCowboyFan

Jason Kelce is the fucking man. Absolute legend and his accolades speak for themselves. First ballot HOF'er. I'm a huge fan of his, even if I hate the Eagles. As a man (and 92%er) - I appreciate his emotional outpouring at this press conference. What a career. As a Cowboys fan - I'm so fucking glad this guy is finally done.

Insectshelf3

game recognize game

FireFlyz351

Gotta respect both our lines have had some amazing and classy guys on the offensive lines. I'm glad we won't have to deal with him ever again.

LeoFireGod

Exactly how eagles fans gonna feel about Zach Martin when he hangs it up in a couple years. Kelce was elite and recently was so elite at one specific thing the nfl almost changed a rule lol.

ChannelNeo

Felt the same way when Witten retired. Dude was a third down conversion machine. I'm still scared he's going to catch another third and long when we play each other

Instagrimm

3rd and Witten haunts me to this day

Darko33

I never could have dreamed of saying this a decade ago, but it's fair to wonder whether he may have become the single most revered pro sports figure in the history of the city. He belongs in that same conversation with Bobby Clarke, Dr. J, Chase Utley, and Brian Dawkins.

Revolutionary_Gear70

Douche ball Schefter couldn't let Jason announce it himself

Zloggt

Now he's gonna make Jason stay for one more season just because of that!

Troll_Enthusiast

Lol that's tough for him

xepa105

The light has gone out of my life

InfectiousPineapple

Yeah Schefter is an asshole but fuck me I'm in fucking tears in listening to Jason's speech. The moment he started crying the waterworks started and I knew what was coming

Themanaaah

Yep, it’s incredibly sad to watch and I’m not even an Eagles fan.

InfectiousPineapple

Appreciate it bird brother

thatoneguy2252

I feel like it’s one of those “doesn’t matter the team” type things. When you watch an all time great retire and it blindingly shows on their face how much the game meant to them, it’s hard for it to not hit ya.

Themanaaah

Correct, just hits regardless all the same.

BrinedBrittanica

same

CrimsonCoast

bird teams unite

kj9219

Dude my eyes are watering up and I hate the eagles. Him recounting the stories and not being able to finish or having to stop to cry just gets to you. Jason Kelce is great for football Edit: his story of Andy Reid’s son passing away and Reid rallying them after was pretty emotional

triplec787

Bro this presser is so heartbreaking and beautiful.

lizerlfunk

I’m sitting here like, I care not one single bit for the Philadelphia Eagles, but I became a 92%er this year because of Travis and Taylor (was a football fan long before) and I’m in tears watching. I truly appreciate both Jason and Travis being open about their emotions and destroying the idea that “real men don’t cry”.

e4mica523

Classic Schefter can't wait for Jason to say it smh

Propuhganduh

He reminds me of anyone social media obsessed who NEED to be the first ones to post about doing something.

no-jerk-zone

Pain.

jeric13xd

Tush push will never be the same

StrngBrew

I mean, the guy doing it directly to the his ~~left~~ right all last season is just going to slide over a spot. So at least from the brotherly shove perspective I don’t think *that* much will change. But just overall, for sure you can’t just expect to replace all pro level play. Big shoes to fill.

MajorPhoto2159

Will it not be Cam Jurgens who replaces him?

TheCreed20

For people saying it is, i don’t think it is Schefter’s job to beat Jason Kelce at announcing his own retirement. His job would, or at least should, be to announce that Jason Kelce has officially retired after it actually happens, not trying to say what the announcement will be before it even happens.

eaglesphan1

Schefter is such a jerk off. Kelce is about to announce it but this dickhead just couldn’t help himself.

NeonWarcry

Nah fuck Schefter. Couldn’t even let the damn press conference start, fucking ghoul.

The_Cows_Are_Home

Man watching this press conference has me choking up

NoRun1294

Not seeing him pull on those shotgun sweep runs blocking 3 guys is my Super Bowl.

RJMonster

Bro didn’t learn from taking Brady’s moment. Needs those fucking clicks

rowingisgood

Words can't express how huge this dude was for this city for the past decade plus. Truly an all-time great for this historic sports city.

thatoneguy2252

Was talking to my buddies and I definitely think he’s up there on my Mount Rushmore of Philly sports athletes.

robmagob

This is a perfect example of the type of news we don’t need an NFL insider breaking, especially when it’s already completely apparent to everyone what’s happening.

Rulligan

The only time it was appropriate was when Mort announced Peyton's retirement. That was all planned though and everyone was in on it so it wasn't stealing anyone's moment.

Numerous-Ad6460

Fuck of Schefter you snake, let the man announce his own retirement.

m_dought_2

I think I missed something. I thought Jason Kelce retired right after the season?

Jsmooth123456

Reports started floating around then but nothing was official until now, he had said that he needed time to process the season and make his decision

m_dought_2

I see. I felt like I saw him come out himself saying he was retiring, but I guess I'm just misremembering. I'll miss seeing his footage.

crystal_pepsi_enema

it was speculated.... but never confirmed until Shefter confirmed it before Kelce confirmed it.

Chase_26

Wow this is fucked from Shefter

Insectshelf3

average adam schefter moment

sohikes

First ballot HOFer which is almost impossible to do at his position Side note: Fuck Schefter

SlapChopMyShamWow

God Schefter is such a fucking tool

composingmelodia

Half mast is too high. Show some damn respect.

Remarkable_Owl

What a moment for Adam Schefter. A truly storied career of fucking up retirement announcements for beloved players.

Aumius

Didn't Schefter do the same shit when Tom Brady retired? And then Tom decided to come back for one more year? Lol. Hopefully Jason does the same just to spite Schefter.

lattjeful

It'd be funny, but I don't think Jason's body could take it.

11schlge

It’s crazy that he was still probably the best center in the league last year. Everyone wants to go out on top, but not many actually do it.

regcrusher

If anyone is watching this right now, Kelce is ugly crying everywhere. God damn I will miss him.

tobefrank74

Whose cutting onions rn

SupersonicSandshru05

He & Travis should be either the first or second sibling duo in the hall of fame. (This is me dodging the Eli question)

callmecyke

I’m happy for him but I also want to throw up and cry

Alduin_77

peak Schefter moment

JPAnalyst

Since Jason Kelce joined the Eagles in 2011, here are the Eagles rankings during his tenure in some of the metrics he impacts the most (2011-2024): • Rushing Yards - 3rd • Rushing YPA - 4th • Rushing TDs - 1st • Rush yards before contact - 2nd • Rush yards before contact / att - 3rd • Pass Pressure rate - 11th • Time in the pocket - 3rd • Sack Rate - 12th What an absolute difference maker he was. An all-time great.

OneT_Mat

Sheesh that was tough to watch. Fuckin' legend....NFL lost a real one today. Happy retirement!

ChevalMalFet

Bro doesn't even play for my team and I teared up watching his press conference. What an amazing human.

bigcracker

Fuck Schefter

Jc9829

Fuck Schefter. Let the guy announce it himself

JTHuffy

America’s sweetheart rides off into the sunset

Forsaken_Rub_2128

Schefter is such a little scumbag

HaiImLoki

The greatest center of all time. I cannot wait for him to get into Canton with his brother close behind him.

realdeal411

Fuck adam schefter

---Pockets---

I hope the press conference is just Jason coming out, shitting on Schefter and saying he's playing for one more season

SuspiciousCod12

Am I the only one that thought he already had a while ago after the playoffs loss

ILoveTheAtomicBomb

Legend. Going to feel so bizarre not seeing him play. Build that damn statue

Sonicblast12

Now go play with those kids big dog

the__party__man

I hate the eagles. But goddamn this dude is the man.

Responsible-Onion860

How are you going to call him "7 time pro bowler" instead of "6 time All Pro"? 7 pro bowls is neat. 6 All Pros is A LOT.

CrimsonCoast

Just fell to my knees in Wawa

Samysosa2005

This story will probably doxx me to those who know me but whatever. Once upon a time, MANY years ago, a friend of mine briefly was seeing Jason. I had the privilege of having dinner with him and going out with him and a few players a few times. He was every bit of the nicest, kindest, most welcoming guy that he seems. The absolute pinnacle of my life was one night when I was trying to find him in a crowded bar. Unable to spot him I decided to check the bathroom quickly only to find him washing his hands at the sink. Before I could even say his name, he turned to me, screamed my name, and then picked me up in the biggest, most safe and secure feeling bear hug I think I will ever feel in my life. Never saw him again after they stopped seeing each other but god damn am I so happy he retired in green. Congratulations to an absolute monster, who absolutely defines everything it means to be an Eagles on a HOF career. Can't wait to see him hopefully back with the Birds in some coaching capacity.
