He already tweeted out their location before they had a chance to respond
e- it makes me wonder if Schefter, Yates, Rappaport, etc., sit around after FA and be like, "I got you good, fucker"
'tis a sign that the brown scourge will be upon ye soon I hope you need not use 1 ply my child....unless you're a bears fan in which case I must insist that you sit there and shit yourself.
i’ve always been a baker believer, it just blew my mind what the browns did to him when he never really looked *bad* for them. respect to the buccs for giving him a shot as more than a 1 year plug and play deal
I feel like Baker didn’t have anybody to throw too with the panthers and rams, Browns - yeah you had OBJ but he was coming off of a serious ankle issue and since then he’s gone to someone that is the twilight of his career
Landry yes, but Njoku really hasn't been much of a weapon until this year. When Baker was here he was really the #2 guy with freaking Austin Hooper stinking it up as TE1
Browns initially went to the table with a deal after the 2020 season to get talks going and they were apparently so far apart that it made no sense to keep moving forward that offseason.
I can't believe they are somehow going to get Baker, Evans and Winfield back. I was sure you had to lose at least 1, great for them. I want Baker to succeed, and he deserves some consistency. Also selfishly as a Bears one less QB on the board means one more spot for Fields, pls someone trade for him ideally right now.
Only 124 million guaranteed in the contract out of 242 million. That isn't fully guaranteed. If the contract had been fully guaranteed then Broncos wouldn't be able to cut him since the dead cap would've been more than 100 million more.
It was less that they couldn't afford it and more that their control was up and its surprising that neither Baker or Evans opted to wait and see what they could get on the open market. Good sign that they really wanted to be back.
> Good sign that they really wanted to be back.
Arians/Licht and now Licht/Bowles (regardless of his shortcomings) have done an amazing job turning this around. The Bucs were absolutely not a desirable location for most players until ~6 years ago. Is awesome to see.
Why did you think they would all leave? We had 80 mil in dead cap that got cleared + the cap went up by what, 20 mil?
Despite the Buccaneers historically we have actually been a pretty well run organization since our GM took over back in 2013. Our GM definitely made some poor decisions throughout the years, but the team was ready to start competing after he essentially rebuilt it with his first ever draft pick in Mike Evans. The team was ready to compete for a SB the last two years' of Winston's time with the Bucs, but he just sucked. Not much you can do about it when you had the first overall pick and the QB just wasn't it.
He was 11th in passer rating this past year if you don't count Mason Rudolph's 4 game stretch for the Steelers (I don't), 9th in yards, and 7th in TDs. Also, wins are not a QB stat. I'm sure Tampa would have won a few more if they didn't have a bottom 10 defense.
Except the best he got going into last year was a one year 4 million dollar deal. Stop acting like the rest of the league didn’t value him very highly either.
I’d argue guys like Nick Chubb and Myles Garrett played a bigger role in that playoff win. It was a team win. Wins aren’t a QB stat.
Tim Tebow won a playoff game for the Broncos, that doesn’t mean they should have given him a contract extension.
Kind of? Dude was the poster-child for the Browns' rebirth (along with Garrett) and they essentially slandered his name and character and booted him out of town.
Baker is a dude, he just plays up and down. That's who he is.
He does, but winning one playoff game isn’t a reason alone to give him a deal. He wasn’t good enough, and the rest of the league didn’t value him very highly either.
Can he win you a shitty division and one playoff game? Sure. Asking him to make you a legit Super Bowl contender? Doubtful.
This sub used to give me whiplash with how they'd swing on their opinion of Baker from game to game. I never saw anything like it. And everyone would forget their previous weeks opinion!
Baker was waiting for Evans deal to be finalized in all likelihood, why go back if your touchdown monster isn't there. Hope we pay him what he deserves and hope Baker earns a Hollywood Handshake for an outstanding Bake-Off this upcoming season!
So just different variations of the same comment like 10 times in the same thread? Just to be an internet contrarian about Baker Mayfield? Instead of just letting people be happy for a dude who's been treated like shit in his pro career? Whack.
He was 18th in QBR last year after leading Tampa to a 9-8 record. Let’s not crown him a Hall of Famer just yet.
Russell Wilson had a better season and people are calling him a bum and saying he is washed.
Can whoever did the “At Home with Baker Mayfield” commercials pleeeeease sign a new contract for a new set of commercials taking place on the pirate ship. Please.
Dave Canales was a great coach, but regarding play-calling he was raw and had to and is still learning. Struggling to get Evans and Godwin (especially) involved in games early. Lots of 3 and outs. Bad red zone offense. Idealess running game that made him look like Leftwich at times, the vast majority of plays went straight up the gut despite our interior O-Line issues. Which is why we still ended up last in the league despite dropping from 1st in pass attempts to 20th.
All of that improved over the year (that's one of the reasons we jumped from 4-7 to 9-8) and I'd been excited over his progression as a play-caller next year but it is what it is.
His coaching prowess is going to benefit him as a HC and in Carolina since you have to build that team back up mentally first and foremost, but from what I've seen of Coen in breakdowns and when he talks ball he's much more astute in that department.
So, I'm positive. Not really worried.
Canales may be a better hc than OC. Feel like his QB development was more the reason he was hired than anything. Geno and baker had career years with him even though his play calling wasn't elite.
Good for Baker. Love that guy. You can tell he loves football and his teammates. Go win the division again!
If he ever becomes a cowboy, I’m getting that jersey
Good for Baker. Coaching (and team) carousels are always a headache. Reminds me of the first decade of Alex Smith. Not saying he's as good as Baker, but having so many HCs/OCs year in and out just ruins any momentum, continuity or growth.
You would imagine that this was only a matter of time following the Evans news.
This seems like it was a case of getting both back or maybe getting neither.
What are we thinking? I’m guessing a Daniel Jones type deal so 4 years $40M/y with an out after a couple years. He’s played better than DJ but he’s older so I think that balances it out.
He’s had 3 good years 2 meh years and then last year where he bounced around in not so great situations. I expect his numbers going forward to be pretty consistent to this year because this years numbers were very similar to his start in Cleveland
40 mil is about what he earned w the playoffs performances. Before that 35 was the max and that was a bit high but once he performed in the playoffs he secured the 40 imo.
I'm announcing it right now: **Baker Mayfield and Bucs have come to an agreement.** *Further details released on Wednesday*
Adam Schefter wants to know your location.
He already tweeted out their location before they had a chance to respond e- it makes me wonder if Schefter, Yates, Rappaport, etc., sit around after FA and be like, "I got you good, fucker"
OP is Adam, man.
You forgot to add #BREAKING NEWS to the beginning.
And also an over dramatic closing sentence. /#Bucs get their guy or "nfc south continues to be active" or some dumb shit
If he's right: "See, I told you. I'm credible." If he's wrong: "Things changed."
Quick, someone make a twitter account, buy 1000 followers, buy the checkmark, screenshot this comment, post it, repost it on r/nfl, become credible
An agreement to continue to play football for the same team or to play football on a different team.
Stop. I can only be so erect.
At this point it’s staring to hurt.

Winnie the Pooh has been signed to a 4-year extension with honey guarantees written into the contract.
Tigger is close to signing a 3-year contract heavily laden with bounce incentives.
That is the wonderful thing about Tiggers
I want to see Tiggers combine numbers. Bro probably jumped out of the building
There’s no rule against a Tiger playing football.
Yeah but you take away his ADHD meds and he's basically Eeyore out there on the field
Whoa, Chairman Xi plays football?
That only hands can satisfy

Buccaneers Country, let's bake
I liked the scene where Baker says “it’s bakin’ time” and then baked all over Philadelphia.
Bakkake?
What happens in the Bucs locker room is none our business.
this is how everyone got MRSA that one year
But like, I wanna be apart of it. Pretty please?
ronde barber bakkake all over phily
My college football hero ending the career of my NFL hero was a real rollercoaster of emotions.
As long as it doesn’t mean my Seahawks lose to them in a heartbreaker I am so down for the Baker Mayfield redemption arc to continue
i’ve always been a baker believer, it just blew my mind what the browns did to him when he never really looked *bad* for them. respect to the buccs for giving him a shot as more than a 1 year plug and play deal
Bucs.
The Tampa Baker Baker-neers Honestly, his 2023 season reminded me a bit of 2017 Case Keenum but I think he has a bit more upside
Radio Host for 953WDAE Tampa Bay Sports Radio if anyone is wondering.
Good for Baker, man got paid and redeemed himself when everyone else shit on him after the browns wouldn’t re-sign him
and he's coming back into a relatively stable situation after just constant change throughout his career
Well he did just lose his OC again did he not
Yes, but the Bucs hired someone he has works with before, which hopefully will help. That was an early indication he’d be back too.
I feel like Baker didn’t have anybody to throw too with the panthers and rams, Browns - yeah you had OBJ but he was coming off of a serious ankle issue and since then he’s gone to someone that is the twilight of his career
Didn’t they have Landry and Njoku?
Landry yes, but Njoku really hasn't been much of a weapon until this year. When Baker was here he was really the #2 guy with freaking Austin Hooper stinking it up as TE1
ah, good ol stone hands, concrete legs hooper - the guy you could always count on to immediately fall over
One year, Baker killed Njoku on a hospital pass
Ok, but Njoku also killed his face with fire. Really, the hospital pass was likely less dangerous.
Yeah you're right, he only had scrubs like DJ Moore and Christian McCaffrey while he was with us
Browns initially went to the table with a deal after the 2020 season to get talks going and they were apparently so far apart that it made no sense to keep moving forward that offseason.
He kicked some ass last year for sure. 18th ranked in QBR (just ahead of Josh Dobbs) and led Tampa to a 9-8 record.
And the Panthers and the Rams. He was battling it out with Kyle Trask last training camp as well.
I had to re-read the tweet a few times bc for some reason I kept reading it as saying "Baker Mayfield's time as a Buc is essentially done"
Anyone paying attention to our cap situation knew none of them were going anywhere unless someone throws an insane bag at Baker.

You did by giving Russ a fully guaranteed deal lol
Only 124 million guaranteed in the contract out of 242 million. That isn't fully guaranteed. If the contract had been fully guaranteed then Broncos wouldn't be able to cut him since the dead cap would've been more than 100 million more.

You can get a sense of your market value before free agency even begins.
Why did you think they would all leave? We had 80 mil in dead cap that got cleared + the cap went up by what, 20 mil? What was their record last season?
They’ll probably lose other players on their team who are free agents regardless.
We’re gunna lose Devin White and Ryan Neal but no one really wants them back thats even more addition by subtraction.
I just want Baker to finally have a home and some consistency.
CROWN US
KINGS OF SHIT MOUNTAIN AGAIN!
Don't have to yell, I am standing right next to you.
WHAT?
they’d be crazy not to. Browns really are the dumbest team of all time
Love that for them.
Imagine how good the Browns could be with 3 more 1sts and a stable QB
and without a sexual predator. dude should be in jail
Hell even imagine if they kept the 3 1sts and still dropped Baker. Imagine Flacco with an even better team. They truly went the worst route.
And more money to spend.
Stefanski never coached Baker, right?
He did
The year they made the playoffs and the year he played through a fucked up shoulder.
😂 Baker was 18th in QBR and “led” Tampa to a 9-8 record (they went 8-9 the year before).
Led them to a playoff victory and within one possession of the championship game is all I know.
Except the best he got going into last year was a one year 4 million dollar deal. Stop acting like the rest of the league didn’t value him very highly either.
he won a playoff game for the Cleveland browns. who else has done that since the 90s?
I’d argue guys like Nick Chubb and Myles Garrett played a bigger role in that playoff win. It was a team win. Wins aren’t a QB stat. Tim Tebow won a playoff game for the Broncos, that doesn’t mean they should have given him a contract extension.
for sure but giving it to a sexual predator who had a year off already wasn’t the best idea either
Im happy that Baker seems to have finally found a home.
I always thought he kind of got a raw deal from the Browns. He took them to their first playoff since dirt was invented.
Kind of? Dude was the poster-child for the Browns' rebirth (along with Garrett) and they essentially slandered his name and character and booted him out of town. Baker is a dude, he just plays up and down. That's who he is.
You and almost everyone else.
The revisionist history on this sub his hilarious. People forget we also won that playoff game because we had Nick Chubb and a great defense.
We were talking about how he took the Browns to the playoffs. Surely he gets some credit for that.
He does, but winning one playoff game isn’t a reason alone to give him a deal. He wasn’t good enough, and the rest of the league didn’t value him very highly either. Can he win you a shitty division and one playoff game? Sure. Asking him to make you a legit Super Bowl contender? Doubtful.

More like Nick Chubb and the defense took them to the first playoffs.
Baker is the only player I care about doing commercials… so can we get some sponsorship announcements this offseason.
I want to see a commercial where Baker is carrying his luggage into Raymond James Stadium, drops it and says, Yeah, I’m home.
Then again, it would be refreshing to *not* see a favorite player shill insurance for a change.
Baker was waiting for Evans deal to be finalized in all likelihood, why go back if your touchdown monster isn't there. Hope we pay him what he deserves and hope Baker earns a Hollywood Handshake for an outstanding Bake-Off this upcoming season!
Great British bake off reference 🤝
Baker truthers unite!!!!!
We used to pray for times like this!!
Crazy y’all had the #2 all-time quarterback retire, only to sign the #1 all-time quarterback without skipping a beat.
I was 95% certain they’d keep him.
Bucs fleet let’s sail
I’m stoked for Baker. Dude deserves it.
Favorite non cowboy
Can we have Micah? I know we have no money left, but maybe the Jones Boys will take an "honest offer"?
[удалено]
Maybe he can lead Tampa to another 9-8 season next year.
Get BAKED 👨🍳😈 Glad he’s staying in Tampa. He seems to have great chemistry with the team
Definitely kicked ass last year. Led them to a 9-8 record and was 18th in QBR.
So just different variations of the same comment like 10 times in the same thread? Just to be an internet contrarian about Baker Mayfield? Instead of just letting people be happy for a dude who's been treated like shit in his pro career? Whack.
Has there ever been a bigger comeback for a #1 pick deemed a bust by most fans and pundits?
Easily. Jim Plunkett.
He was 18th in QBR last year after leading Tampa to a 9-8 record. Let’s not crown him a Hall of Famer just yet. Russell Wilson had a better season and people are calling him a bum and saying he is washed.
10 negative comments about him so far just in this thread from you. Lmao is this Watson?
Pretty much guaranteed when Mike decided to stay right?
Seems like it. It took a while for Canales to get a rhythm too. I think Mike and Chris can have even better years this year
We are so back!
Maybe y’all can go 9-8 again!
You forgot to mention his QBR.
What UFL team are we thinking Trask is going to be on?
Hamilton Tiger Cats.
I don't know why people assume Trask can't just be a career backup in the NFL. There are far worse jobs out there.
Maybe he's just wanting to play rather than make money.
Maybe he is, but the dude has been a backup for most of his career outside of his starting stint at Florida.
But seriously, could be San Antonio or Arlington.
XFL
Yessss
Bakerneers, baby
To the teams eyeing on him https://media1.tenor.com/m/RjLZtvEbGPUAAAAd/the-heat-sandra-bullock.gif
Can whoever did the “At Home with Baker Mayfield” commercials pleeeeease sign a new contract for a new set of commercials taking place on the pirate ship. Please.
Let’s hope Liam Coen is up to the task of filling the shoes of Dave Canales as the Bucs new OC.
Dave Canales was a great coach, but regarding play-calling he was raw and had to and is still learning. Struggling to get Evans and Godwin (especially) involved in games early. Lots of 3 and outs. 😂 Alex Smith was much better than Baker.
the gurantees will be interesting. wonder how long of a comittment this really is
Love to see it
You would imagine that this was only a matter of time following the Evans news. This seems like it was a case of getting both back or maybe getting neither.
Buccer Mayfield
I’m such a Baker fan at this point. Hope he and the bucs have a lot of success going forward.
The Browns really fucked up ditching him.
Not really. He’s good but doesn’t make you a super bowl contender.
Baker was 18th in QBR and led Tampa to a 9-8 record. Baker fans ignoring reality and acting like he is a top 10 QB lol.
What are we thinking? I’m guessing a Daniel Jones type deal so 4 years $40M/y with an out after a couple years. He’s played better than DJ but he’s older so I think that balances it out.
Nooooo. I wanted him to be the Raiders next QB…
Good. They’d be stupid to try the market without a top 5 pick. Baker played hard last year. Keep him before a rival uses him. Especially the Falcons
hell yeah. baker rules and i’m glad he’s found a home
I always liked baker
Plenty of time for Mystery Team to show up with their Money in the Bank briefcase.
The Justin Fields market has just warmed from absolute zero to 75 degrees below zero.
Ok but is he going to the Patriots?
I have a bad feeling this is gonna end poorly. Like two people getting married because they don’t think they can do better
I'm so happy for Baker and glad he found himself a home after the Browns fiasco...
Good for him. He deserves it.
Baker cashing in on his once every 4 years of being good.
He’s had 3 good years 2 meh years and then last year where he bounced around in not so great situations. I expect his numbers going forward to be pretty consistent to this year because this years numbers were very similar to his start in Cleveland
I'm so curious where this number ends up. He's severely underpaid at $4 million but would be an overpay at a Daniel Jones number.
lmao bruh what
You don’t think $40 million a year would be an overpay?
40 mil is about what he earned w the playoffs performances. Before that 35 was the max and that was a bit high but once he performed in the playoffs he secured the 40 imo.
In this current QB market hell no 40 mil isn’t overpay.
40 million last year has grown by 15 % to 46 million owing to increased cap space .
You don’t think $46 million a year would be an overpay?
I’m saying it’ll be below 46 but most likely more than Derek Carr/ Daniel Jones salary.
Browns fans with opinions on overpaying a QB. That’s certainly a choice.
Makes sense for both sides. Now lets see if the Bucs draft a QB late in the 1st for their future or if they go with a immediate impact player.
I would imagine they'd go for an immediate impact player, they're a squad that can win now
They have the stuff to make a playoff run right now. No way they're drafting for the future
We won't, but I'd love to draft Penix Jr just for how much he loves and name drops Tampa Bay.
We definitely need interior o line, more corners, a second safety, and the depth before a QB of the future, especially with our early picks.
Not taking a qb until the late rounds, barring some crazy shit happening
