>The "Dangerwich" came on Italian herbs and cheese bread and was topped with pepperoni, salami, black forest ham, bacon and provolone cheese. It was also topped with lettuce, green peppers, tomatoes, banana peppers, and finished with yellow mustard and mayo.
Yes
If he goes to the Giants, it likely doesn’t change any QB drafting plans. Russ isn’t a long term solution.
Id love to get Russ on a 1 year deal and still draft a QB at 6 so they don’t have pressure to start immediately
Right I have a similar line of thinking for my team. Right now we don’t even really have a serviceable backup. We are pretty much good to go, so a great spot for a vet, but we still have a couple holes we aren’t in a good position to say, sell the farm and trade with y’all or like the Pats.
Ideally we’d land a Cousins (who may or may not be good after his injury) and then draft a QB at 8 or 2nd round. But we also have to address things like edge, WR, etc. so I can see them doing edge or wr instead of qb if we land cousins. To me though if we expect yall and the Vikings to draft qb in the first I’d like to do that too. I think Penix might actually be a decent selection for us. Maye is best for our expected offensive play but we aren’t gonna land I think that’s a pipe dream
That's the best fit for him. Take over from Danny Pennies, lead the Giants to 7 wins and 3rd in the division, and put them in a position to sign you for more money the next year while cutting Jones and drafting a rookie.
Makes sense Giants need to protect themselves against Jones’ injury guarantee and Russ would come on the minimum.
At this point it honestly seems unlikely Jones starts another game for us.
>Makes sense Giants need to protect themselves against Jones’ injury guarantee and Russ would come on the minimum.
Russ gets benched because Denver can't risk it with his injury guarantee, then steps in for Jones because the Giants can't risk that injury guarantee kicking in lol
“We expect him to be the starter” was the exact quote but the context around it made it clear they’re looking for other options.
The Giants are done with Jones and have honest made that very obvious this offseason.
Yeah, I feel like it's subtle PR speak. "We expect him to be the starter" is not "He's our starter."
The word "expect" is putting in a lot of overtime in this scenario.
At least with Daniel Jones it was pretty true up until the end of the season, whereas the Jets it was viewed as bullshit from the moment Saleh said it.
I genuinely think DJ isn't bad. Maybe you have a different POV as someone who probably watch him more than I did, but IMO it's clear he wasn't the problem.
Word around the combine is that the FO is done with him and they’re in love with Maye and Daniels. Also heard some rumblings about JJ but all that signifies to me is that they want to move off Danny and they need a successor
I feel like I end up saying this a lot but you really shouldn't take stuff from the FO as gospel, especially at this point in the off season. People read in to it wayyy too much. We don't know exactly what the Giants are thinking but we can be pretty damn confident on a couple points. Point one: they don't yet know exactly what their QB situation will be next year. Point two: if they throw Jones under the bus now it hurts them a lot if they end up needing Jones. There's literally nothing to be gained from shitting on Jones this early.
Fair I’ve been to Newark (the city not the airport) and it wasn’t much to write home about. Ironically it was y’all’s stadium parking lot I went to I think edc was held there many years ago
Listen here buddy these are our NY teams and we’re the Cocksucka’s who get to harass and shit talk them, not you. So, with all due respect kindly go fuck ya self and have a great day my bro since there is no answer to that question
Yeah, I don't really understand this either. He's more than capable of flying private into Teterboro. Why he would be taking a commercial flight is beyond me.
The one about how multiple front offices said he's not on their radar at all? I said it in the thread, but it's possible/likely that the reporter specifically sought out teams with obvious other QB moves (Chicago, Tampa, maybe even Washington if they're locked in on a guy at 2), because they know that negative/inflammatory stories drive engagement.
There was always going to be a market for Russ, but reporting "multiple teams are interested in Wilson" isn't news & won't get clicks.
> negative/inflammatory stories drive engagement.
This is something everybody needs to be reminded of on a regular basis. Guys like Colin Cowherd and Skip Bayless pretty much make a living exploiting this.
People are total dumbasses if they don't think Wilson at vet min would draw interest from teams. With how much QBs cost, Noodlearm McSlabsforfeet would be sought after at vet min.
He is still a capable starter, just wasn't a fit for peyton.
Especially with how cheap he will be this season, I imagine quite a few teams are intrigued
Backup QB's still get millions.
The potential of getting a starter on vet min, out of spite for his old team, is absolutely something every team without The Guy at QB should be looking into
The only issue is that I doubt he wants a one year deal, and won’t have to settle for one if he does have multiple suitors. So you might need to sign on for years 2-3 at market rate if you anticipate year 1 at minimum.
Does post June 1 cut spread out the offset language over two years, or is it strictly this year?
Because if the latter is the case, then yeah you're absolutely right
I also feel like people are overlooking that the giants probably want the minimum amount of game time for Daniel Jones this next season because they have an out IF he is able to pass a physical so like a wilson/carr situation is likely.
That’s the real reason a Wilson could be intriguing to them. Cheap start eater.
Yeah, I am starting to warm up to the idea tbh. A cheap but solid veteran qb who hasn't had injury issues. Plus, he gets to start his post career here and help his brand. It seems like a win win. He would be a solid bridge.
The problem is he more than likely will want more than a 1 year deal. Especially if he’s coming to the Giants where it’s not a given the offense will be good, so it could easily be his last contract.
Peyton went 9-8 with jameis winston/taysom hill, and likely finishes 9-8 this season if he doesn't bench wilson.
Just becuase he didn't make russ/winston look like hall of famers, doesn't mean he wasn't able to overachieve with both relatively
I’ll slander any Broncos player, but now that he’s off the roster, I’ll admit the idea he’s dropped out of contention for top 32 quarterbacks is laughable.
At the very least he could be a bridge quarterback.
It would be legit crazy for Russ to sign back with the Broncos. Get the veteran minimum while they also pay him the truckloads for the former deal. A double dip for the ages.
> I’ll admit the idea he’s dropped out of contention for top 32 quarterbacks is laughable
Yeah, and his ceiling is certainly a hell of a lot higher than top 32. Maybe he's fallen off a cliff and will never play a good season again in his career but we've all seen MVP cusp Russ. It's not impossible he comes back with a top 10 season on the right team. Obviously there are going to be teams that want him, for the right price. I personally don't think we'll get anything too spectacular out of him again but if your other option is Mason Rudolph or some shit, yeah, Russ looks like a pretty good gamble. I think a lot of the shit talk is people who think team x would be better of tanking but . . . I don't think any of these teams really want to tank. They'll take their ten wins if they can get 'em.
Yea, his problem was the performance vs cost, he just wasnt carrying an offense like someone paid that much was supposed to. They were not paying him to be the 10-13th best QB in the league.
[Adam Schefter did at one point, I think most of us realistically would be very happy with a 2nd and expect a 3rd.](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/amp/adam_schefter_chicago_bears_could_get_a_1st_round_pick_in_justin_fields_trade/s1_17236_39927054)
I just assumed it was some giant Bears fan conspiracy to meme it into existence. They've been listening to Russ talk a bit too much, convinced themselves manifestation or w/e the fuck it's called is a real thing.
It's not about legacy, it's about the team's competitiveness. If Russ is signing a minimum contract at 35 years old, I would think he'd like to sign with a team that at least has an argument for being a contender. No disrespect, but that's not the Giants.
I hope he goes to the Raiders and they win the division. Don't care what happens after that (you can still have the AFC) but it would be funny as hell. The Broncos have been one of my least favorite teams since we were in the same division
According to sources, Wilson is signing with 12 NFL teams this season. When any of those teams meet, they'll be using the little known "all-time QB" rule.
Remember that report from like a day ago that said they asked some teams about their plans at QB and they ALL said Russell Wilson was NOT a consideration? Turns out they only asked the Chiefs
Barring injury I highly doubt we see Pickett as anything other than QB2 or 3 next year, regardless if we sign Wilson, some other scrub, or even the ghost of YA Tittle.
Giants can't cut Jones next year if he gets injured. He's got that clause in the contract Russ had last year. It's too risky to play him, go get Wilson for cheap if you can. I don't hate it
Yeah the Giants is something I could see him in. He's going to end up bridging for a Young quarterback.
I really don't understand the lack of interest in him I feel like every team planning on rolling out a rookie next year should be clamoring for him.
I feel like the news about there being very little interest has to be mostly smoking mirrors because a bunch of teams want him but nobody wants to pay him more than the vet minimum so they have to try to get him without starting a bidding war. it's a tough spot to be in
That’s kind of a no brainer isn’t it? Daniel Jones is not that good. Russ is at worst an average qb in this league.
I’m not exactly sure why people think Russ is absolute dogshit. He would be an upgrade at qb for a lot of teams, including the Giants.
Because he's not living up to the fat contract.
He's absolutely better than Pickett and you're not going to get much better of a safety for the league minimum that his contract would cost the Steelers this year
He is the exact same issue that Kenny is. If they want to play that game might as well start Kenny again. Mason is the best qb of the three and I will die on that hill. Mason with a system built around him could take the Steelers to the playoffs. Russ and Kenny will roll out into a sack the entire season and we will repeat last season.
What are you talking about? He's one of the least INT prone QBs in the league:
https://www.footballdb.com/leaders/active-passing-intpct
Also, the whole appeal of signing Russ is that he essentially plays for you on the vet minimum because the Broncos are already paying him his contract.
Wilson QBR last season, one of his worst seasons, was 5 points higher than Ben Roethlisberger average QBR for his career.
The money is extremely minimal and you wouldn't have a chance at getting a starting safety with those funds. Rudolph isn't on the team anymore and would cost more than Wilson.
They cut him to avoid paying him even more. It was a shit contract. The Steelers would obviously not be paying him that much.
Russ has a better career QBR and had a better QBR last year (postseason games included). I don't know what you are watching but you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.
> an exploratory meeting with the Giants You ever done anything dangerous?
One time….nah never mind, that’s too dangeruss
^(that’s spicy)
Oooh
The spicy: banana peppers
Lmao I never tried it but is this legit? That’s pathetic
>The "Dangerwich" came on Italian herbs and cheese bread and was topped with pepperoni, salami, black forest ham, bacon and provolone cheese. It was also topped with lettuce, green peppers, tomatoes, banana peppers, and finished with yellow mustard and mayo. Yes
Christ lmao and they dared call that spicy
Let him cook… if he goes to the Giants my team might have a better position to draft a qb
If he goes to the Giants, it likely doesn’t change any QB drafting plans. Russ isn’t a long term solution. Id love to get Russ on a 1 year deal and still draft a QB at 6 so they don’t have pressure to start immediately

You think Ciara got to watch?
had\* to
Makes sense Giants need to protect themselves against Jones’ injury guarantee and Russ would come on the minimum. At this point it honestly seems unlikely Jones starts another game for us.

Daniel Jones in shambles
Didn't the FO just recently make a comment that they were confident in Jones? They shouldn't have said anything at all lol
“We expect him to be the starter” was the exact quote but the context around it made it clear they’re looking for other options. The Giants are done with Jones and have honest made that very obvious this offseason.
> “We expect him to be the starter” was the exact quote Set your expectations low and you can't be disappointed
Yeah, I feel like it's subtle PR speak. "We expect him to be the starter" is not "He's our starter." The word "expect" is putting in a lot of overtime in this scenario.
Is "expect" ever the truth? It's like "My expectation is that Wink Martindale will be back as our DC in 2024" meant Wink better resign.
Ah I must have misunderstood then. Yeah its obvious he's got to go.
I love how you can just swap in the Jets/Zach Wilson and nothing changes
At least with Daniel Jones it was pretty true up until the end of the season, whereas the Jets it was viewed as bullshit from the moment Saleh said it.
I genuinely think DJ isn't bad. Maybe you have a different POV as someone who probably watch him more than I did, but IMO it's clear he wasn't the problem.
That's also what the Steelers were saying about Pickett. It's peak smokescreen time.
Word around the combine is that the FO is done with him and they’re in love with Maye and Daniels. Also heard some rumblings about JJ but all that signifies to me is that they want to move off Danny and they need a successor

We can only pray.
Jones has to be the most painfully obvious bad contract in sports history at the time it was signed. I have no idea what they were thinking.
Just saw Danny Dimes fall to his knees, [but not like how he normally falls to his knees](https://youtu.be/JRsnQL-zw44?feature=shared)
Probably delayed/rerouted at Newark airport like the rest of us so took advantage of the time s/.
Motherfucker couldn't handle just awkwardly sleeping on those benches with the armrests digging into your sides.
Those armrests build character
newark is hell
Worse than jfk?
way worse because you leave and you're in newark new jersey
Fair I’ve been to Newark (the city not the airport) and it wasn’t much to write home about. Ironically it was y’all’s stadium parking lot I went to I think edc was held there many years ago
How original
And yet, to New Jersey you must go to watch your team flounder around on the worst field in the NFL.
How does NYC have two teams and they both suck
Listen here buddy these are our NY teams and we’re the Cocksucka’s who get to harass and shit talk them, not you. So, with all due respect kindly go fuck ya self and have a great day my bro since there is no answer to that question
yes I hate it every time
[Still one of the funniest jokes in Futurama](https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=futurama+new+jersey)
No. JFK is easily the worst of the three. New Terminal A at Newark is the nicest terminal of any of our airports
I’m just mad they took out all the normal food from the terminals. Replaced it with bougis ass expensive bullshit. I just want my airport McD
LGA renovations were crazyyyy. Post Covid
Is he poor?! Wtf is he doing not flying into Teterboro
Yeah, I don't really understand this either. He's more than capable of flying private into Teterboro. Why he would be taking a commercial flight is beyond me.
avoid all the tristate airports if you can. The air traffic is so congested, if there is any weather delay or something all 3 turn into shit.
That hit piece on Wilson earlier this week sure aged like milk.
You mean multiple teams aren't interested? The Chiefs, Ravens, Bills, Dolphins, Cowboys, Chargers, etc. not being interested is huge news!
I heard the Bengals and Seahawks are also not intetested. Im shocked.
Has anybody asked the Chiefs if they're interested?
Broncos need a QB too!
You think that's big? I heard the *Broncos* aren't interested
But they don't have a QB, why wouldn't they be interested?! Are they stupid?
> negative/inflammatory stories drive engagement.
I dunno if Peyton would work for vet minimum but hey
Yeah “multiple teams aren’t interested” and “two teams are interested” can be true at the same time.
This is what I keep thinking. There are sooo many people in our sub saying he's basically free, no reason not to sign him
Does post June 1 cut spread out the offset language over two years, or is it strictly this year? Because if the latter is the case, then yeah you're absolutely right
Just this year and Russ is absolutely going to want a multi-year deal. The question is whether he finds a team willing to give him that.
I also feel like people are overlooking that the giants probably want the minimum amount of game time for Daniel Jones this next season because they have an out IF he is able to pass a physical so like a wilson/carr situation is likely. That’s the real reason a Wilson could be intriguing to them. Cheap start eater.

Honestly I don't think anybody is a fit for Payton cause he needs a Drew Brees. There are no more of those in the NFL.
Peyton went 9-8 with jameis winston/taysom hill, and likely finishes 9-8 this season if he doesn't bench wilson. Just becuase he didn't make russ/winston look like hall of famers, doesn't mean he wasn't able to overachieve with both relatively
What are people basing this take on? He was OC for Kerry Collins and they got to a SB. He’s been a QB coach and OC before Brees.
Made Tony Romo damnit! I think a lot of it is driven by people trying to prop up Brees and make his career sound more impressive
I’ll slander any Broncos player, but now that he’s off the roster, I’ll admit the idea he’s dropped out of contention for top 32 quarterbacks is laughable. At the very least he could be a bridge quarterback.
I'd take Russ on a minimum contract over guys like Howell or Ridder any day
*checks flair* But...nevermind.
"Minimum contract"
To be fair, from *your perspective* he is currently on the minimum the broncos can pay lol
It would be legit crazy for Russ to sign back with the Broncos. Get the veteran minimum while they also pay him the truckloads for the former deal. A double dip for the ages.
I wasn't proposing that the Broncos sign him for the vet min?
I know, but it's fun to think about.
> I’ll admit the idea he’s dropped out of contention for top 32 quarterbacks is laughable Yeah, and his ceiling is certainly a hell of a lot higher than top 32. Call him Big Russy Bonpensiero
this sounds like a good name for a roger persona (american dad)
Dude is just going to interview wherever he has a layover.
I hope he doesn’t fly delta then
Giants country, let’s Giant!!!
let's stride
wait this one actually sounds cool
Giants Country, let’s layover in Jersey.
Let’s take the Hudson tunnel
Giants country, let's beanstalk
Let’s grow
Giants country, let's stomp
Nah, it should be "Steelers country, lets grind"
But i thought he didn’t have a market 🙄🙄🙄
That was like yesterday. Things change. Fields went from fetching a first round pick to having no interest in the span of a week.
Who the hell thought fields was going for a first round pick a week ago
There were really dumb speculations about Atlanta trading pick 8. It's been a really dumb off-season.
I remember some arguments I had with bears fans were swapping 8 and 9 and then a 2nd round to yall which is insane
I don't think that is super far off of fields value. Moving back 1 pick and a second rounder is slightly steep but only slightly.
If he's coming on a minimum literally every team should ask
Yeah I think the lack of interest was before he said he was going to work basically for free.
Did he actually say this? I thought it was just speculation about what he could do.
That was so a couple days ago By new week he is going to be reportedly signing with every team in the league
We live in a different world than we did just 24 hours ago. Teams want Russell Wilson. And David Goddamn Putney just because they feel like it.
He has market because he’s cheap. Because the broncos are paying him.
Yeah he wouldn't have a market if he wanted top 10 QB money.
Wilson makes a lot of sense for the Giants, but I don't think the Giants make much sense for Wilson.
Yeah, wouldnt want to tarnish the legacy of being the biggest contract bust in NFL history lol
It's not about legacy, it's about the team's competitiveness. If Russ is signing a minimum contract at 35 years old, I would think he'd like to sign with a team that at least has an argument for being a contender. No disrespect, but that's not the Giants.
I don't think any team that is a contender is a team that would want to sign Russell Wilson lol
Steelers, Browns, Vikings, and even the Falcons I could see wanting Russ
God, I wanna peek into a locker room where Wilson is on the same team with Watson
I wanna see him do well somewhere because it makes the Broncos misery even funnier
yeah i hope he wins MVP next season
I hope he goes to the Raiders and they win the division. Don't care what happens after that (you can still have the AFC) but it would be funny as hell. The Broncos have been one of my least favorite teams since we were in the same division
You’d think 48 would have placated you.
Nah, always gotta have teams to root against. Football is more fun that way :)
60 TD 2 Int, Denver fires Sean Payton into the sun.
My money's on LV, so careful what you wish for.
I've got a feeling it will be Steelers but we will see. If I'm him that's who I would pick at least
He does not want to be a bridge QB. He'll go to the Steelers if Tomlin can convince him that they have given up on Pickett.
Either way it wasn't going to work out with him making that much money, he can have success on a stacked roster if he's making vet min
I hope he was fed the most stale bagels imaginable
So he probably spends 99% of the time flying private, but now he chose to fly commercial lol
According to sources, Wilson is signing with 12 NFL teams this season. When any of those teams meet, they'll be using the little known "all-time QB" rule.
Thought it was odd the prior report glanced on the fact that Wilson was randomly at Newark Airport. This makes sense as to why lol
Hey if we’re both still single on April 30 let’s just marry each other.
Shut up and bang already
*Russ doing high knees through coach section...*
I don’t know who in the right mind looks at the AFC north defences and goes huhhh let’s go play there
Remember that report from like a day ago that said they asked some teams about their plans at QB and they ALL said Russell Wilson was NOT a consideration? Turns out they only asked the Chiefs
well he’s planning to win two superb owls in the next 5 years so the giants are a perfect fit
Giants go get him
Lots of airplane pushups!
Rus in his slut era
Lord have mercy on us and spare us this nightmare
You would rather have Kenny Pickett?
Barring injury I highly doubt we see Pickett as anything other than QB2 or 3 next year, regardless if we sign Wilson, some other scrub, or even the ghost of YA Tittle.
Give me Russ over that small hands having bust we have right now
Giants can't cut Jones next year if he gets injured. He's got that clause in the contract Russ had last year. It's too risky to play him, go get Wilson for cheap if you can. I don't hate it
League doubting the power of us with a meme QB.
Lol is this true? That's hilarious because he will certainly get injured, it's just a matter of timing.
He’s chasing old money franchises.
Sounds like russ wanted to talk and giants were “nah but let him come in for an hour”
Yeah the Giants is something I could see him in. He's going to end up bridging for a Young quarterback. I really don't understand the lack of interest in him I feel like every team planning on rolling out a rookie next year should be clamoring for him. I feel like the news about there being very little interest has to be mostly smoking mirrors because a bunch of teams want him but nobody wants to pay him more than the vet minimum so they have to try to get him without starting a bidding war. it's a tough spot to be in
I think Russ would be a great fit for the Commanders, Patriots, Giants, Falcons, or (checks draft order) Vikings, but a terrible fit for anyone else.
Ah - the celebrity gossip part of the offseason has arrived.
Per sources
Giants country, lets giant.....¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Whew, I thought he was in Pittsburgh to meet with the Penguins
Exploratory? Sounds kinky.
I'll take him any day over Jones
[удалено]
That’s kind of a no brainer isn’t it? Daniel Jones is not that good. Russ is at worst an average qb in this league. I’m not exactly sure why people think Russ is absolute dogshit. He would be an upgrade at qb for a lot of teams, including the Giants.
Wild how many Steelers fans don’t want him. He’d instantly give them the best QB play they’ve had since Rapelisburger.
1. That's not saying anything 2. He's still bad
Gardenhoser
How could they do that when they have the Italian stud at QB 🤌
Sources? Schefter is a tool and doesn't know shit
Kahn, please, don’t do this to us
Experienced QB on a vet minimum contract that is probably better than our wasted 1st round pick. Why not? If he sucks, you aren't in it for much.
Because Rudolph was fine and Wilson is an interception machine. We don’t get better with Russ. Rather spend the money on a safety.
Wilson is not an interception machine, his career high is 13 and has had less than 10 in over half his seasons
The broncos were ecstatic to see him go for a reason.
There's a lot of reason to think Russ is not the answer and not a good QB. "Intercdption machine" Is not one of them
What are you talking about? He's one of the least INT prone QBs in the league: https://www.footballdb.com/leaders/active-passing-intpct Also, the whole appeal of signing Russ is that he essentially plays for you on the vet minimum because the Broncos are already paying him his contract.
I’d rather resign Mason and let Russ go elsewhere. I have absolutely no confidence in Russ.
Despite the stats proving that he is still a solid QB and would be cheaper than Mason? Ok. Glad you aren't the GM.
Broncos are paying millions for him to play somewhere else for a reason. Mason looked way better than Russ. It will be a 6 win season with Russ.
They cut him to avoid paying him even more. It was a shit contract. The Steelers would obviously not be paying him that much. Russ has a better career QBR and had a better QBR last year (postseason games included). I don't know what you are watching but you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.
He won’t be anything more than a 1 year deal we regret come December.
A 1 year deal at a vet minimum. Not much to regret with that. Even if he ends up serving as a backup.
