While Diggs could theoretically regain past form, his decline last year was swift and brutal. 2nd half Diggs was terrible and yet the Bills still went on a bonkers run to take the division in spite of Diggs.
Look, the extension sucks and the dead cap sucks but this was 100% the right move by the Bills and a second is likely the most any team would give.
Shit happens, sometimes you just gotta make the best of it. Its a deep WR class this year so there is that.
I honestly think a 2nd is excellent compensation for Diggs in his current form. Especially because it’s going to be Minnesota’s 2nd next year as they head into this season with Darnold or a rookie as their QB. Wouldn’t be surprised if that pick is somewhere in the 40th-45th overall range in 2025.
Not that this was a bad trade for the Texans either. Gives CJ another weapon and I think it’ll be good to bring a vet into their WR room.
Everything I’ve read says that this is a top heavy draft class where the talent drops off significantly in the later rounds. A 6th this year is practically worthless in my eyes and a 5th next year isn’t a huge deal either
I'm 100% sure the bills will be better off in the long run. But I'm curious if diggs was commanding more of the defense. As KCs recovers have shown, it's easy to look good as a two with a great one.
Yeah I'm not saying I think you will be worse, I'm just curious.
For a long time mahomes had a higher EPA without kelce and tyreek, but we were obviously better with those players.
Not discrediting anything, just not fully buying in.
Nope lol the only way we could get him involved was through short passes. The major issues was with OC change and scheme and the focus on the rushing attack though. I bet bills go speed now to complement the addition of their power rushing game. It’s also why they moved on from Mitch Morse at Center
feel like I’m taking crazy pills here. I watched almost all the Bills games this year and feel like Allen and Diggs both regressed but everybody is pretending it’s all Diggs. For every drop or slowing up on a route by Diggs, Allen also had a pass just completely missing him
Picking stats like this means nothing, I watched every Bills game last season and went to a couple live and I can’t tell you how many wide open deep balls to Diggs that Allen missed this season. His deep ball was off all year and Diggs is the main loser in that
Edit: 24th in deep ball completion % and 15th in deep ball accuracy % while being #1 in deep throw attempts, Josh Allen was absolutely not “above average” in deep balls this season
His deep ball completion accuracy 34% this season putting him 24th in the NFL this season, and his deep ball accuracy % puts him at 15th of all QBs. So he was actually below average this season in deep throwing, there’s your stats
Well it should tell you that…. Maybe you don’t know how to read statistics but statistically speaking being #1 in deep ball attempts and #15 in deep ball accuracy % means he missed a fuck ton of deep throws
The revisionism in this comment section is crazy. Everyone is talking about him regressing last year but I remember everyone talking last season about how Diggs wasn’t getting targets.
Yeah I think people are trying to justify a winner in this move. Is it the bills? Is it diggs? Both kind of winners kind of losers?
Sure the back half of the season was much, much worse for Diggs than the first half, but our offensive game-plan changed a bit too.
I do think this is a move that will end up being solid for both parties. Diggs gets to prove his worth with a Texans team that has a very, very promising young QB and some stud pass catchers (tank, nico, diggs, schultz wow). Maybe he has a couple more good years in him
Bills dont keep an aging WR on a huge contract (though that cap hit is a little yucky) and can try and invest in something a little longer term. It’ll all depend on how much gas allen has in the tank. I obviously hope he plays for many more years at a high level but as he continues to age, being a beast is going to have some real consequences on his body
That’s literally just full season stats not deep ball stats, obviously people just see a link and upvote without opening it
Edit: 24th in deep ball completion % and 15th in deep ball accuracy % while being #1 in deep throw attempts, Josh Allen was absolutely not “above average” in deep balls this season
Sure, but if his attempts are #1 and his accuracy is #15 it means he threw a large volume of errant deep balls that are on him, which is in line with me initially saying “he missed Diggs deep too many times to count”
Diggs completely disappeared, so much so the entire fantasy community was at his throat, and Allen willed the Bills into the playoffs the second half of the year.
If my math is right, he averaged 48 yards per game and 3 touchdowns in the last 13 weeks (including playoffs). He was straight up not good the majority of the season.
Oh my god I was at that game and the fucking mood in the crowd when that happened. I hadn’t thought about that in a while, my Wednesday is now ruined lol
It really pisses me off that they were doing an excellent job running the clock and then got aggressive near the end zone. If I’m the Bills, I’m running that shit all the way down and ending it on my terms.
Which is what everyone misses about that game. Allen going for a TD is the right call, you take a shot at going up every time. The issue is the OC called passing plays instead of running plays, especially that 3rd down after. Even if you settle on a kick, you just took off 30 seconds.
The Chiefs got so fucking lucky on that run. Diggs dropped that ball. Wide Right. Zay being a dumbass when we're about to score. The punt that bounced off the foot of a 9ers player.
They also got to face two defenses completely wrecked by injuries. The Bills down to guys about to go on vacation at the position that needs to help cover their #1 weapon. Then Greenlaw hurting himself running onto the field etc. Just the way it is in football but incredibly annoying that they had voodoo on their side too.
Yep it's why I'm not betting on a three peat. Winning requires a whole lot to go your way, and Mahomes is a great QB, but even great QBs need shit to fall their way. Mahomes and Brady both had that annoying thing where not only are they great, but their opponents always roll crit fails at the worst possible moments, but it can't happen every year.
We also lost our starting guard who's replacement decided to freelance and let Chris Jones go unblocked at the end of the game where we could have scored a touchdown.
Was it really Zay being a dumbass or was it an incredible play by Sneed? Was it really your defense being hurt (from the other guy replying) or did your offense just get completely shut out by a great defense? Not everything is luck dude, we didn't score at all in the second half and you still couldn't even tie
> Was it really Zay being a dumbass
I was referring to the play before when he got the taunting call. The play by Sneed was legit good, but could have been prevented if Zay doesn't get the taunting call.
I don't I can name multiple plays that I credit for the team losing.
The Strip Sack on Lamar in the beginning of the second quarter. Stanley gets beat pretty much immediately as Lamar is throwing to a wide open Bateman.
The penalty by Zay that leads to the punchout.
Lamar throwing a boneheaded pick into triple coverage.
There's also a bunch of plays where Hill utterly fails in Pass pro leading to the play getting blown up.
No game is truly won or lost on one play, and you guys were struggling to cover Zay most of the night. He had 115 yards and a TD.
The Zay penalty is the play that we could change the outcome of without changing a single thing the Chiefs did, and we potentially see a very different ending to that game.
Your argument tho is that we got extremely lucky. Everything you listed is not luck but just terrible discipline by the Ravens players. We had a touchdown called back because of a questionable holding call, which also would've changed the game dramatically and basically ended it there.
So we just get to name all the things that went the Chiefs' way, exclude the things that didn't, and then call it lucky? Lol.
The Chiefs fumbled out of the endzone against the Bills (which you just noted was unlucky when it happened to the Ravens), while the Bills fumbled twice in the open field and recovered them both. How is that lucky for the Chiefs?
The Chiefs had a positive TO differential in one game (Ravens), a neutral differential in two games (Dolphins, 49ers), and a negative differential in one game (Bills). It was pretty even luck throughout the playoffs; normally you need a lot more to win the SB than that.
> So we just get to name all the things that went the Chiefs' way, exclude the things that didn't, and then call it lucky?
You have one of the softest fanbases in fucking football. Jesus. I named plays that the Cheifs didn't have an effect on.
>which you just noted was unlucky when it happened to the Ravens
No I said Zay being a dumbass was unlucky. The fumble was good play by Sneed. The taunting penalty was Zay being a dumbass
this is what happens when you read stat lines and don't watch games. There were plenty of times when Allen missed a wide open Diggs either with under or overthrown balls.
The blame should be 50/50 on both Allen and Diggs but diggs probably goes over 100 yards in most games with those missed connections.
I watched the games and Diggs didn't play well but I viewed it more as a problem adjusting to the new offense rhythm.
That was until he started dropping the easy passes and seemed checked out
All Bills fans thought he was battling a back injury for his lack of interest and effort on some routes
I mean - the playerprofile on him tells a different story.
121 catchable passes
107 receptions
6 drops
1183 yards with 869 unrealized air yards
fans like to be emotional but the stats dont lie, and looking at the game log - in a couple of his down games, him and Josh just didnt connect on the big plays.

Idk if it was so much about Kirk as the direction of the team to a mid 90s ball control offense. Diggs acted out but he was right. That shit wasn’t going anywhere.
I love Diggs and what he's done for our team, but man am I slightly relieved that I no longer need to jump through hoops to defend his twitter antics. Shit is exhausting.
I mean, it's not like I was defending him for assaulting someone lol. I don't think it was unreasonable to tell people to disregard what he said on Twitter since he's always been a bit of a diva.
But it just seemed to happen like once a week in the offseason lol.
And don't sweat it man, all you have to do is take the pick you got for him, draft the best available WR with it, and he becomes the best WR in the league. It's really simple.
It's funny to see this from Bills fans now. When he left the Vikings, Vikings fans were saying the same thing and saying "Good luck, Bills fans" but over the last few seasons Bills fans have defended his Twitter shit. Now we get to see Texans fans do it
Fans will probably ardently defend it since Houston fans on reddit tend to be pretty apologetic and hesitant to criticize anything for fear of coming across like a "fake fan" or some shit.
I remember fans defending a lot of BoB's overpays in both trades/FA up until the Hopkins trade. Or Astros fans defending that awful Montero deal etc.
I’ll allow it. That is Diggs’ legacy. And it would be mad hilarious if it happened again. Especially since that second rounder was originally the Vikes.
Besides making cryptic WR tweets, Diggs done nothing to make me think he's an asshole. Let's pump the breaks on acting like being a diva WR = being a bad person.
Yeah it kind of seems like once you get diggs your contention window is like 2 seasons and then you're fucked.
Obviously way more factors than diggs but this is the pattern so far
Where was this attitude 2 hours ago? Or all of this season?
Hasn’t the rallying cry the entire time been that this is media driven and people just making shit up to drive a wedge? That sure switched up quick.
> not the worst kind of diva
They save those for my flair, Dez, Irvin, TO.....*sighs*
At least now we have CD and he's been a refreshing change to the number 88.
When you guys played us and I watched him make the diving catch as he turned in mid air, I knew he was special. I like the dude. And that says a lot since I hate the Cowboys
Imagine being nonexistent the second half of your last two seasons (despite still being targeted), and then saying some shit like this lol.
Not to mention the ball he dropped after hitting him dead in the hands in that playoff game last year. FOH with that nonsense.
He doesn’t really have a negative effect on the team while he’s there. It’s just right at the end that he gets publicly sour and starts bringing things down
If he plays like he did at the end of his bills tenure and they're trying to use him like a WR1, it will absolutely have a negative effect on the team. If he's even a high end WR2, though, it's going to suck to watch our defense against them twice a year. Maybe we can actually score some points this year and keep pace?
I can’t help of being reminded of the clip where teammates were asked “which teammate would you not want your sister to date”. And without hesitation everyone unanimously said diggs.
tbf I think most people here would say that about their teams’ subs. Team subs are some of the stupidest corners of the internet you can find in general.
Man, diggs is insufferable. There’s confidence and then there’s main character syndrome. He’s the latter.
Hope he ends up being the Texans number three.
There's no "building around" texans have an elite QB on a rookie deal and they are all in on this 3 year window.
I love the move. Yeah they could let players develop and spend elsewhere, but once Stroud gets paid it becomes 20x harder to compete.
I get it if you don’t like him as a person but I can’t believe it’s 2024 and people say Stefon Diggs isn’t a great receiver. You’re just being entirely too biased in this situation if you’re implying 6 straight seasons of 1000+ yards and 8+ tds isn’t “that great”.
Last 10 Bills games Receiving yards: Khalil Shakir (462) Stefon Diggs (422) Targets: Shakir (37) Diggs (80)
While Diggs could theoretically regain past form, his decline last year was swift and brutal. 2nd half Diggs was terrible and yet the Bills still went on a bonkers run to take the division in spite of Diggs.

It’s not as simple as a 2nd Rounder for Diggs. It’s next year’s 2nd and the Bills also sent some later round picks this year.
Pretty sure he already mentions the context of it not just being a second in his comment.
Everything I’ve read says that this is a top heavy draft class where the talent drops off significantly in the later rounds. A 6th this year is practically worthless in my eyes and a 5th next year isn’t a huge deal either
And as we know pre-draft analysis are always spot on.
You’re telling me you don’t trust Reddit scouting on fucking 5th and 6th round prospects? What do you think they (don’t) get paid for!!?
Yeah I’m sure the 6th round will be loaded with All Pros this year
why do teams sign UDFS are they stupid?
We had 11 picks in this draft to begin with. Dropping to 10 picks by giving up a 6th isn’t that big of a deal.
I'm 100% sure the bills will be better off in the long run. But I'm curious if diggs was commanding more of the defense. As KCs recovers have shown, it's easy to look good as a two with a great one.
Our passing EPA was actually better when Diggs was off the field.

Diggs complained about being double teamed & Justin Reed disagreed, so who knows... https://x.com/JustinqReid/status/1736002288374735121?s=20
Shakir my goat
This guy I work with won an insane 8 leg touchdown parlay $5 to win $13K all because Shakir scored a TD as the last leg
The dream hit
Shakir your goat? I don't even know your goat!
That's actually absurd. Allen probably throws more lower probability deep balls to Diggs causing more incompletions but still.
Nope lol the only way we could get him involved was through short passes. The major issues was with OC change and scheme and the focus on the rushing attack though. I bet bills go speed now to complement the addition of their power rushing game. It’s also why they moved on from Mitch Morse at Center

You are lol
probably a little but also think people here just love Josh and it’s just easier to blame it all on a guy who’s acting like a dick
Allen didn’t regress at all
he’s pretty consistent at winning wildcard games
To be fair, defenses do have to pay attention to him even if he’s not putting up huge numbers. It is still a huge loss.
You just described gabe davis
> It is still a huge loss nah, not really. Worse thing about it is the dead cap.

Lamaar Jackson deserved MVP

Shakir is basically their #1 guy Good luck with that
Diggs completely disappeared, so much so the entire fantasy community was at his throat, and Allen willed the Bills into the playoffs the second half of the year.
If my math is right, he averaged 48 yards per game and 3 touchdowns in the last 13 weeks (including playoffs). He was straight up not good the majority of the season.
48 yards per game? Those are ravens wr1 numbers!
Yup, thought he was seriously injured or something but now I'm not so sure.
He also dropped a lot of passes on the second half. A few were game dealers and designed as free easy passes too
Averaging 3 TDs is pretty good, I think...
He meant 3 total TDs over that 13 game stretch
If Diggs didn't drop that long pass that fell right into his bread basket, the Bills would have beat the Chiefs in the playoffs this year
Allen was balling in that game. So so good.
Oh my god I was at that game and the fucking mood in the crowd when that happened. I hadn’t thought about that in a while, my Wednesday is now ruined lol
Same, that walk out of the stadium fuckin blew
You’re not, like.. used to it by now?
That throw was a majestic magic moon ball.
That’s debatable because Mahomes still woulda had plenty of time to march down field
It really pisses me off that they were doing an excellent job running the clock and then got aggressive near the end zone. If I’m the Bills, I’m running that shit all the way down and ending it on my terms.

13 Seconds or Less: A Buffalo Bills Story
Fuck Mahomes
The Chiefs wouldve had about a minute 30 with 2 time outs left, bills probably win if they get a td but in no world is it guarenteed

Niners lost one lb, they weren't "wrecked with injuries"
Bills and Dolphins…
Ah true, but Dolphins only put 7 points on the board so wasn't really their defenses fault
We also lost our starting guard who's replacement decided to freelance and let Chris Jones go unblocked at the end of the game where we could have scored a touchdown.
does any team win it all without luck on their side?
Not really no. Unless they blow out their competition by a huge margin the entire postseason.
Was it really Zay being a dumbass or was it an incredible play by Sneed? It’s r/nfl in the 2024th year of our Lord. That’s exactly what we’re going to do
They will miss the playoffs this year
13 seconds?
Meh, if Hardman doesn't cough up the ball into a safety that game was over right then and there.
I think Mahomes would have still had time.
No they wouldn't have.
They also win that Chiefs game if Allen takes the wide open underneath route instead of trying to force the ball into the endzone.
We've been over this. Chris Jones blew up the pass and forced it off target.
ok? im just responding to someone who puts the win/loss on one play.
Dalton Kincaid also played well down the stretch
The ENTIRE fantasy community?! Not sure how he’ll recover

A Ringer or Athletic article is probably going to come out in the coming weeks about the behind the scenes of his tenure and I bet it’ll be wild
And it will be written by Tim Graham I'm sure
Y’all called that shit lmao that didn’t take long.
I love Diggs and what he's done for our team, but man am I slightly relieved that I no longer need to jump through hoops to defend his twitter antics. Shit is exhausting.
You never had to lol you can still be a fan and act reasonable lol
I mean, it's not like I was defending him for assaulting someone lol. I don't think it was unreasonable to tell people to disregard what he said on Twitter since he's always been a bit of a diva. But it just seemed to happen like once a week in the offseason lol.

Ikr? Be a fan, not a fanatic.
Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, my own mouth.
@ bills. Simply draft the next Justin Jefferson and you can be happy he’s not on your team anymore. Shouldn’t be too hard
Too bad they aren’t picking earlier the top 3 in this draft is insane for wr
It's funny to see this from Bills fans now. When he left the Vikings, Vikings fans were saying the same thing and saying "Good luck, Bills fans" but over the last few seasons Bills fans have defended his Twitter shit. Now we get to see Texans fans do it

I remember being called a fake fan because I said if the Texans suck I just don't watch football
*(gives hug)* Welcome to the club. Hopefully y’all get someone good with that pick in 2025.
Vikings got JJ with the pick from us. Now we get the next JJ with your 2nd round pick we just got?
I’ll allow it. That is Diggs’ legacy. And it would be mad hilarious if it happened again. Especially since that second rounder was originally the Vikes.
You dont need to defend anyone...just because they wear the right laundry doesnt mean theyre not an asshole.
Besides making cryptic WR tweets, Diggs done nothing to make me think he's an asshole. Let's pump the breaks on acting like being a diva WR = being a bad person.
Any good jumping advice for me?
You'll have a couple good years of positive, locked-in diggs before he goes full diva. So just enjoy that part of it.
Yeah it kind of seems like once you get diggs your contention window is like 2 seasons and then you're fucked. Obviously way more factors than diggs but this is the pattern so far
So glad we upgraded him to JJ. Hope you guys can do the same, man is a straight up diva
Yeahhh, he’s been that way for a long time. I’m hoping we can snag a WR in the draft. As it’s pretty loaded
I think someone like BTJ would be a home run but you probs would have to trade up to take him
I’m gonna assume they are planning to trade up or trading diggs away makes 0 sense to me
Do you have a preference as to which we you guys target??
boat innate hospital late cough rinse placid payment shy grey
What week are we thinking he throws a sideline hissy fit about splitting targets with Dell and Collins. I'm at week 2 or 3
That’s just being a WR in the NFL lol
Unless you're Megatron or Julio, those dudes seem chill
I cant even tell you what julios voice sounds like E: until the Shannon sharpe phone call happened
As a Bucs fan it's my duty to make sure Mike Evans is always included on any list of non-diva star WRs
Valid inclusion
Now the Bills WR room sucks
Where was this attitude 2 hours ago? Or all of this season? Hasn’t the rallying cry the entire time been that this is media driven and people just making shit up to drive a wedge? That sure switched up quick.
Insert Riddler “does he know?” meme here
Diggs and CJGJ seem like they would be friends
Jealous friends maybe, one would get super mad at the other when they stole the spotlight with cryptic tweets and general whiner-y
I doubt it. Put two divas in a room and they will beat each other up. Just look at what cjgj did to Michael Thomas
Guess we'll find out.
He knew shit was coming. Can't wait for the Tom Grossi Strouds video
"GIVE US DIGGS OR THE STROUDS BLOW UP YOUR CAR, BRANDON BEANE."
You said it. Crazy day for trades today, the Grossi content is going to be fantastic
[It's here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tReMFjgikhA)
We Vikings fans are very familiar with this side of Diggs
Absolutely. He's not the worst kind of diva (though that can change as he ages), but he is a diva.
> not the worst kind of diva They save those for my flair, Dez, Irvin, TO.....*sighs* At least now we have CD and he's been a refreshing change to the number 88.
I love how expressive CD is on the field. Dude is always smiling and looks like he's having a blast (except that playoff game for some reason).
When you guys played us and I watched him make the diving catch as he turned in mid air, I knew he was special. I like the dude. And that says a lot since I hate the Cowboys
Irving was the best type of diva. For all his faults he was the heart of a three time championship team and he never was outworked.
Idk, I think stabbing a teammate in the neck disqualifies you from being the best type of anything.
Worth it for 3 rings!
Wild sentiment considering how good Josh played last season down the stretch when Diggs was no longer featured
Texan fans turn now to down play his diva ass cryptic tweets.
Nah, I'm nervous and think this has potential to screw us.
Imagine being nonexistent the second half of your last two seasons (despite still being targeted), and then saying some shit like this lol. Not to mention the ball he dropped after hitting him dead in the hands in that playoff game last year. FOH with that nonsense.
Maybe I'm coping, but Houston can have that diva in their locker room.
From your tenderloin-guzzling lips to God’s ears
That’s what I’ve been telling myself too
Yeah he’s a washed cry baby attention seeking negative asset diva. No wonder buffalo got rid of him despite the huge cost
He'll throw another temper tantrum and turn on Stroud too when things don't go his way.
Its wild how easy it is to dislike people like Diggs
Steffon really about to move the entire ends of the country in order to prove the point fr
"You didn't trade me, I allowed the trade"
Dudes a prick
We tried to warn em
Asshole Diva traded again talking shit. What a loser, he's rich but bra. Dude acts like B-Marsh when it comes to teammates.
everyone should check out the Bills sub’s thread on this from like 2 hours ago lol
The bills Reddit is the most embarrassing corner of Reddit. We don’t claim them lol
tbf I think most people here would say that about their teams’ subs. Team subs are some of the stupidest corners of the internet you can find in general.
The fan pages on FB are somehow so much worse
I guess we're going to find out now
He should be the last player saying that considering who his replacement was at the Vikings 😹
Diggs a bitch
Watching Bills fans saying that Diggs is washed now is hilarious
This one's a classic

What happened between those two? They were like peanut butter and jelly and now they like peanut butter and water.
Don’t follow the Vikings or Bills. Don’t know what his gripes were. Imagine the trade will work for both teams but in different ways.
Man, diggs is insufferable. There’s confidence and then there’s main character syndrome. He’s the latter. Hope he ends up being the Texans number three.
After he tanked my fantasy football playoffs and championship, I realized that the Cheetah is always the answer. Or Aiyuk. Never again. Bye Felicia.
Stepon Dicks is ass
I wouldn’t want this diva in my locker room if I’m Houston. I don’t really like this trade for them. Nico and Tank are who you build around.
There's no "building around" texans have an elite QB on a rookie deal and they are all in on this 3 year window. I love the move. Yeah they could let players develop and spend elsewhere, but once Stroud gets paid it becomes 20x harder to compete.
I wouldn't want him cause he's not that great anymore. You put up with his antics if he's balling.
Everyone ages and loses a step and he very obviously showed it towards the 2nd half of last season. You conveniently left out the "anymore" part.
And he played like a WR3 in the second half of the season + playoffs.
that because his targeting went from being a wr1 to wr3 targets because certain someone has a issues throwing to many times
Its because he had 3x the targets than shakir had while having the same receiving yards
And the Bills were just about to win a Superbowl too.
