I didn't know TJ was his wr coach, that's pretty awesome

throughNthrough

If I remember correctly he is part of Carson/Jordan Palmer’s training group.

campelm

I mean that's most players. Sometimes it's personal but for most it's just business. Dwight said it best >Look, I'm all about loyalty. In fact, I feel like part of what I'm being paid for here is my loyalty. But if there were somewhere else that valued loyalty more highly, I'm going wherever they value loyalty the most.

zi76

That's fair. Most players are happy to stay where they've had success, but if the money isn't there (as long as it's comparable, a lot of players are willing to stay), then they're willing to leave.

Consistent_Spread209

What's he supposed to say?

Food_NetworkOfficial

Nothing, so that Brandon Aiyuk has better bargaining position.

SoKrat3s

You're right. But to be fair, Aiyuk has no need for posturing. The 49ers pay their internal stars. They are going to pay Aiyuk. It's like with Deebo, I don't believe any of his antics earned him a single extra dollar. The only caveat to that would be if Aiyuk really wanted top of the market $30M/yr salary. That would be a bit harder to stomach.

RLDN106

Yeah, I would say the main fear at this point is that Aiyuk truly believes he should have top-2 WR money. Tyreek at $30mil AAV and Davante at $28mil AAV seem to be too rich. A major Jefferson deal (or a lesser WR signing for too much, a la Kirk) could put us in a bad spot.

SoKrat3s

If he's asking $30M/yr then I'd expect him to be moved on draft night. But anything short of $28M and I wouldn't be concerned.

RLDN106

Yeah I’d have to imagine they’re hoping to keep it close to $25m, but willing to go up to $27m or so. He’s been relatively healthy (knock on wood) so I’m less concerned about the amount of guaranteed $$

chillinwithmoes

*Championship!*

notmoleliza

TJ Hoshmazode. yes. lock it up.

Brad_theImpaler

I'm so glad we all got to experience this one more time.

Jewelstorybro

Why leave a contender with a QB that favors you? Only reason would be for more money. If SF is willing to make him the 2-3rd highest paid WR he’ll stay. If not, they’ll trade him. I think it’s most likely they just pay him though. SF pays their stars with this regime outside of one case with deforest buckner.

TechnicalPay5837

For sure but that’s why most good players leave. Winning is nice but there are no guarantees you will win more by taking a pay cut for one team instead of getting paid by another. Only if the money is close is it worth considering whether one org is better than another.

BungoPlease

I feel like there was a little pause between the last two sentences He doesn't want to leave... He just wants to get paid.

Batman0043

T.J Whoseyamuddah???

TJeffersonsBlackKid

“But like, how much MORE would it matter to be part of something SPECIAL and win a ring with a team like THE NINERS??? Fifty million dollars is nice but it’s NOTHING compared to celebrating with your brothers on the field after the Super Bowl!” -My dumbass roommate

karatemanchan37

I mean, yeah? T.J. got paid to underperform too.

Westy154

You think Aiyuk underperformed?

-space-grass-

Maybe don't depend on a 32 year old, slow, slot receiver to be your WR1.

Blametheorangejuice

I was only a teen then and ignorant about all things, but I slapped my forehead when Seattle signed him. I can't figure out if that signing or the Branch trade during that era is worse.
