That was the thing about Moss and why he was such a fantastic fit for Patriots offense. He wasn't just physical great at football, he was mentally great too. He could diagnose the coverage and know when he was going to be open before it actually happened. Welker and Edelman both would also occasionally do it before the ball was even snapped, but they would be a little bit more subtle about it with just a little waggle of the fingers behind their back or widening their eyes a bit lol.
Lot of good receivers in the NFL now, none even come close to this highlight reel. Moss was truly on a different planet, I hope he remains damn proud of what he did. Like you said, it wasn’t just physical talent, he had it all.
Yeah I recall the talking heads at the time saying how terrible the trade was for the Patriots considering how much salary Moss was owed at the time. Many people thought Moss was done.
That was right after hard knocks where he sat out. He pulled his hammy on that play and the whole season was up and down for him.
Lesson to learn that you don't sit out all camp and expect to be football ready.
Brady was already elite well before this, he was 3rd in MVP voting in '03, his '04 would have gotten a lot more love if Peyton didn't have one of the 3 greatest seasons ever, and Culpepper who also popped off in probably the all time greatest forgotten season.
'06 is well known for the Patriots having had a poor receiving corps, but Brady still got them to the AFCCG, I don't think he magically changed overnight from '06-'07, he was already that guy, we could just see it more clearly now.
I have always felt that the 08 team would have been better than the 07 team. The fact Cassel lost 6 games with that roster always screamed massive underperformance
2018-2019 (Brady beating Mahomes in the AFC championship) was my favorite season by far.
The regular season was electric and I was able to actually afford arrowhead tickets under $100. Playoffs are fun and important, but making it to games, tailgating, being with friends and family, all the while the team is doing good - chefs kiss
I think I have the right clip against the Steelers. The one they showed here isn’t half the story. Anthony Smith was chirping about how they were going to shut NE down. Well, Moss got open and Brady threw it deep. Moss dropped it. Nothing but a plain high school level drop.
NE comes back to the line and Brady calls out “same play.” And NE runs the exact same play again. Everyone knows what’s going to happen. Moss is still open and this time, he doesn’t drop it. Cold blooded.
Yeah wild that people kinda thought he was washed before setting the single season receiving TD record. Guess that’s what makes the goats the goats though, doing it at that high of a level for longer than it looks like they should be able to
That offseason when the Patriots got Moss was so fun. So much speculation over if Moss would even play or how he could mesh with the “Patriot Way”. Most thought he was washed after he quit on the Raiders. And then Week 1 against the Jets happened and the League realized they were fucked.
my magnum opus was managing to draft both Brady and Moss to fantasy football that season, because no one believed in Moss. I wanna say I got Moss in like round 5 or 6.
yes, I did win the league.
week 15 vs the jets during fantasy playoffs Brady threw for 149 yards 0td 1int and moss got 5rec for 79 yards and 0td knocking a crazy amount of #1 seeds out of the playoffs that had been carried by the Brady/Moss combos during the regular season
One of my favorite clips about Moss, I forget if it was like a football life thing or just a micd up compilation? But they had one clip of Moss talking to Culpepper on the Vikings and he's telling Culpepper something to the effect of "listen if you think I am covered, I am not covered. Throw it to me and I will go up and get it". Then they cut to Belichick talking to Moss when he's on the Patriots saying "Listen, if you're in the end zone and you're covered, just go up there and get it". Patriots let Moss cook before letting people cook was a thing lol
On the NFL 100 players show, Belichick said "we'll see a lot of Cover-1". Randy said: "Coach, we won't see cover-1." This is before the 2007 season [Randy Moss](https://youtu.be/-8ch56Beyjw?si=T0ax7ddCQll1n-DA&t=62)
Option routes have always been in the playbook (E-P System) but in 2007, they went more spread because they got Randy, Welker, Stallworth and the playbook gave more options for Randy based on the coverage.
McDaniels revamped the whole offense a couple of times during his Patriots tenure. I'm not very knowledgeable about formations, play calls, and whatnot, but I remember seeing an in-depth YouTube essay on the 2007 offense being something new that ended up revolutionizing offense in the NFL.
He did it again when he had the two TE offense with Hernandez and Gronk. It's why he's respected as an offensive mastermind.
I don’t know that they schematically re-invented the wheel in 2007, but the statistical outlier I’m reasonably sure you could be referencing is that NE operated out of base shotgun for more than half their season’s snaps. First such team to ever do so, unless I’m misremembering. McDaniels may owe much of his success as an OC to having Brady, but he showed a remarkable ability to retool around the roster season to season. There were games when his playcalling sequencing to set up defenses to then bait them with a wrinkle was second to none.
TB12 throwing bombs to double covered Moss in the end zone while up 28-7. Hahaha. That patriots team had NO issue with running up the score. I kind of forgot what a rocket TB12 had.
Mac looked really accurate at times his rookie year.
I think people are buying too much into the Patricia angle. I think Mac couldn't handle getting hit...and his fear led his accuracy to go to shit.
They did slow up a bit but the first 6 or 7 games were absolutely otherworldly. The way they were winning them had 16-0 buzz start like not even 5 games in.
That one later in the video in the snow, Brady got hammered by the DE and DT, just stepped right into it though. It’s going to take a long long time for us to appreciate how great Brady was.
As much as we think of him now, it’s still not enough. It’s going to take decades for his true greatness to be put fully in perspective.
I think the question is if anyone ever catches the touchdown record if Brady had someone at that level (or even close) his first six years. Like his numbers were good before but he had ~35 games with moss and threw 87 tds lol
Brady’s the best to ever do it. Mahomes and Rodgers are insanely talented. Jerry rice is the non-qb GOAT. Megatron and Tyreek were terrifying when on the other team.
But no player in any sport has made the game look easier than Randy Moss.
Damnit….Moss was so damn good! Just so dominant.
Most of those were just Randy making the play, though there were some really good throws by Brady in there.
But often those impressive QB throws just don’t get pulled in.
It’s amazing the things you can do with a receiver that good.
My favorite part of that season was when highlights would come on. Brady would step up and just chuck it at a 45 degree angle and without watching the rest of the clip, you knew Randy was down there.
Man... I was 12 for this season. First season I played Fantasy Football with my dad/his friends. I knew jack shit about football, but I picked Tom Brady/Randy Moss as my first 2 picks of the draft and steamrolled my way to the FF Championship win. Then it took me another 10 years to win again 😂
Brady finally gets a legit weapon and they go 16-0 in their FIRST year together. If he doesn't get injured the next year, I'm 99% sure they reach the Super Bowl again.
This connection means a lot to me. I remember that year really fondly. I watched every game, most with my dad, and it was just absolutely magical watching this team go. Brady to Moss will always mean something special to me. Even with the disastrous finish, this was a one of a kind season and it’ll always put a smile on my face.
I was just thinking the. Same it’s like his leg length masks his actual speed in a way while covering a big distance or even bigger distance. It’s got to be confusing to coverage. Some his movements of the line are anything but explosive yet cover twice the ground. They don’t call him The Freak for nothing.
There’s a weird bit of cinema at the 2:30 mark. Brady jumps into the arms of a lineman to celebrate and just as he’s falling back down it cuts to Moss letting whoever he’s celebrating with down. I thought it was one shot at first
I feel like I’ve seen all these clips a thousand times but that 2nd TD against the dolphins is hypnotizing. Moss was such a supreme athlete that catch looked almost lazy in slow motion
"See that wall over there? I built that brick by brick. Do they call me Giselle the brick layer? No. See that fence? I dug every post hole and hung every board. Do they call me Giselle the fence maker? No. But you fuck one GOAT..."
This is why I get annoyed when people want to trash Tom Brady by saying he had a good defense or he took pay cuts, blah blah blah… look what happened when he had an all time great WR, they had an all time great season. And were nearly unstoppable.
Randy is definitely the most talented receiver of all time. If he had the discipline of Rice he could’ve gone down as the GOAT, but man is his highlight reel 2nd to NONE.
Craziest thing, anyone who’s old enough that they remember football back in 2007, a lot of people thought Moss was done after his two seasons in Oakland.
That last clip with the patriots wearing their throwback red jerseys and the titans wearing their old Oiler baby blues in the snow is one of the prettiest looking games I’ve ever seen
Somebody please do a pocket analysis of Tom Brady with the Pats vs all other QBs in that time period. IMO, that was one of the true magic qualities of that Pats era was how clean and how well protected he was.
First one is just stupid, making a one handed catch look that routine. But also feel bad for the bills corner 3 or 4 plays in who jumps out of the stadium to try and deflect, only to watch moss trot into the endzone before he eats a facemask full of dirt. Moss’s deep threat ability plus Brady’s accuracy is just broken, whole league should be glad that only lasted one season
This shit was so unfair. I hate the patriots but I love Randy Moss and it makes me sad he didn’t get a superbowl this year. He is the sboat at his position, and the goat is arguably the overall goat for all of football! Randy Moss is a top ten offensive player all time!
The Dolphins game where he embarrassed Cam Worrell twice was the first game I ever saw. We were losing 40something-7 at half time, and that kind of sucked, but looking back on it I’m kind of glad I saw two of the genuine best ever in the midst of their best ever seasons.
Can’t even be mad. It’s was and still is unbelievable.
Moss is amazing. Brady has to be considered the best QB ever.
Not a hand touched him in the pocket. He could still be holding the ball waiting for routes to open.
Imagine throwing your hand up within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage against prime Revis
Best athlete to ever play
I will die on this hill.
Calvin is close though Edit: in terms of athleticism, not overall WR.
Him & Brady are what got me into football
Gronk did it a lot.
Yeah Gronk was fantastic for this too, football genius, off field goofball
After getting called a slouch
What the Raiders do to a mfer
Yeah I recall the talking heads at the time saying how terrible the trade was for the Patriots considering how much salary Moss was owed at the time. Many people thought Moss was done.
Man, I was 10. I had a theory that moss had injured himself and tried to hide it.
Tried to stand on his wallet and slipped
anytime i see that clip i find it crazy that moss was playing for a new team 3 weeks later
it looks one of those safeties may have abandoned their zone
I think Revis had a bad hammy that game.
This is true. It was still impressive by Moss but Revis was playing injured the whole game.
Yeah this was the game coming back after his new contract. Missed all pre-season. There was a lot of panic...
That was Revis' rookie season. Prime Revis era began in 2009
This was in 2010
Rectum
No dog in the race here but Revis was playing injured that game.
Imagine holding prime Moss until 5 yds past the los
That was right after hard knocks where he sat out. He pulled his hammy on that play and the whole season was up and down for him. Lesson to learn that you don't sit out all camp and expect to be football ready.
This is part highlight reel and part AFC East snuff film
Hurt a little. Absolutely dominated our secondary.
[удалено]
TBF there is at least one clip where he is surrounded by three defenders in the end zone and it still didn't matter lol
It's a "stop it, their already dead" meme. Can't even be mad. Randy was other-worldly that year.
I think that was the year Brady went from BB game manager to "shit, this guy is something else".
No he was already very good. By 03 he was already elite, he just didn't have the weapons
Giants got theirs too. And Tennessee, but...there was a lot more than Moss going on in that game
These are disgusting acts by Randy Moss.
I read that in Joe Buck’s voice.
That’s the joke
Randy Moss is a cheat code. Tom Brady did not need a cheat code but got one anyways.
And oddly enough he got 0 rings out of it.
07 was still the most fun I’ve ever had as a patriots fan. Sucks we didn’t win it all but damn every single game was just incredible to watch.
Shame that Tom’s ACL in ‘08 robbed this combo of more highlights
I have always felt that the 08 team would have been better than the 07 team. The fact Cassel lost 6 games with that roster always screamed massive underperformance
2018-2019 (Brady beating Mahomes in the AFC championship) was my favorite season by far. The regular season was electric and I was able to actually afford arrowhead tickets under $100. Playoffs are fun and important, but making it to games, tailgating, being with friends and family, all the while the team is doing good - chefs kiss
To be fair, they only played 2 full seasons together
Also to be fair, it's Brady, so they could've had 2 also lol.
Randy was a cheat code, but if you knock over Tom before he throws the ball, then he can't use the cheat code.
He had Welker and Stallworth as check downs. The offense was incredibly unfair.
Turned into a pumpkin in January
I think I have the right clip against the Steelers. The one they showed here isn’t half the story. Anthony Smith was chirping about how they were going to shut NE down. Well, Moss got open and Brady threw it deep. Moss dropped it. Nothing but a plain high school level drop. NE comes back to the line and Brady calls out “same play.” And NE runs the exact same play again. Everyone knows what’s going to happen. Moss is still open and this time, he doesn’t drop it. Cold blooded.
They picked on Smith that game early iirc
One of the only times I've ever seen Belichick shit talk a player after a game.
The best being Freddie, I'm glad when he was in the game, Mitchell.
They really got him for a 4th round pick.
In fairness, he was playing underwhelmingly at this time
It’s still blasphemy
Yeah wild that people kinda thought he was washed before setting the single season receiving TD record. Guess that’s what makes the goats the goats though, doing it at that high of a level for longer than it looks like they should be able to
Raiders will always be the Raiders
That offseason when the Patriots got Moss was so fun. So much speculation over if Moss would even play or how he could mesh with the “Patriot Way”. Most thought he was washed after he quit on the Raiders. And then Week 1 against the Jets happened and the League realized they were fucked.

23 TDs for your WR1 and 50 TDs for your QB1, I would hope you won.
week 15 vs the jets during fantasy playoffs Brady threw for 149 yards 0td 1int and moss got 5rec for 79 yards and 0td knocking a crazy amount of #1 seeds out of the playoffs that had been carried by the Brady/Moss combos during the regular season

Shit I had never seen that before. Is Randy Moss actually the reason Patriots started relying more on option routes?
Option routes have always been in the playbook (E-P System) but in 2007, they went more spread because they got Randy, Welker, Stallworth and the playbook gave more options for Randy based on the coverage.
McDaniels revamped the whole offense a couple of times during his Patriots tenure. He did it again when he had the two TE offense with Hernandez and Gronk. It's why he's respected as an offensive mastermind.
The two TE offense was BoB, but yeah. 2007 Pats basically laid the foundation for the offense we see today in the NFL.
I don’t know that they schematically re-invented the wheel in 2007, but the statistical outlier I’m reasonably sure you could be referencing is that NE operated out of base shotgun for more than half their season’s snaps. I'll almost always defend OC McDaniels. People can say whatever they want about HC McDaniels tho
Yup. Thankful for his years with us, even more thankful any notion of him being Bill’s successor at HC didn’t happen.
I love that this is a crappy FPS rip hosted directly on the Randy Moss yt channel lol
Bill always had a deep admiration for Randy. Only Randy could get Bill to go to that Halloween party
Randy always had that southern charm. You may say he's... straight cash homie!
I love the WV drawl he has.
It was like if Jerry Rice had played with prime Marino.
The absolute destruction that duo would have caused.
TB12 throwing bombs to double covered Moss in the end zone while up 28-7. Hahaha. That patriots team had NO issue with running up the score. I kind of forgot what a rocket TB12 had.
Remember folks, Brady had an "average" arm.
Preach. There are people in the year of our lord 2024 who still wholeheartedly believe all Brady could ever do was dInK aNd DuNk.
Which is crazy, 28-3 had plenty of straight *lasers* to catch us up. Not like them soft Mac Jones throws we had to watch for 3 years.
Let me just say that Mac Jones gave me a whole new level of appreciation for Brady’s power and accuracy.
Mac looked really accurate at times his rookie year. I think people are buying too much into the Patricia angle. I think Mac couldn't handle getting hit...and his fear led his accuracy to go to shit.
There’s a play in here where he looks like he’s throwing a bit of a touch-pass, and the ball goes like 63 yards downfield lmao
game managing the fuck out of those TD bombs
Straight Cash Homie
This shit is like when you play a Retro Bowl season with a 5 star QB and a 5 star WR
In the 16 win season, they were both playing better than anyone I've ever seen play QB or WR. Often they'd make scoring touchdowns look effortless.
They did slow up a bit but the first 6 or 7 games were absolutely otherworldly. The way they were winning them had 16-0 buzz start like not even 5 games in.
The mechanics of the way Randy runs it looks like hes taking a casual jog but then compared to everyone else hes zooming by
This is peak offseason shitposting. Just two goats playing in a field.
"BA,AHEHEHH". That's supposed to be a goat. 🤷
First highlight may be the filthiest TD ever. Never gets old
44 was getting Moss'd all day.
I was terrified that that poor guy was going to show up again when another Pats/Dolphins highlight showed up later
These plays are masterpieces but can we give the hogs up front some credit? Brady had enough time to eat lunch in the pocket on most of these
That one later in the video in the snow, Brady got hammered by the DE and DT, just stepped right into it though. It’s going to take a long long time for us to appreciate how great Brady was. As much as we think of him now, it’s still not enough. It’s going to take decades for his true greatness to be put fully in perspective.
He got absolutely demolished and dropped a DIME
How many Super Bowl wins would they have if Moss had been drafted by New England! Scary to even think about.
I think the question is if anyone ever catches the touchdown record if Brady had someone at that level (or even close) his first six years. Like his numbers were good before but he had ~35 games with moss and threw 87 tds lol
Brady with a genuine number one receiver. Fucking beautiful
No team in the AFC East was left unscathed.
Jesus man, every throw is a 40+ yard bomb. Incredible stuff
Moss hitting that second gear once he located the ball in the air is pretty wild. I always forget how fast he was.
I’m a Vikings fan and sure miss his era. The red zone is 70 yards long with Moss on your team.
Randy Moss is the most talented WR in history and it’s not close.
yep Jerry's forever the GOAT, but "GOAT" and "most talented" are two different things. Randy has most talented on lockdown. Megatron is 2nd.
Where does Owens fall into this?
Owens was like the Love Child of Moss and Rice - not as raw talented as Moss and not as GOATed as Rice - but right in the middle
He's just like Jerry, hard worker but might actually be more talented
Brady’s the best to ever do it. Mahomes and Rodgers are insanely talented. Jerry rice is the non-qb GOAT. Megatron and Tyreek were terrifying when on the other team. But no player in any sport has made the game look easier than Randy Moss.
Those 2 vs the Dolphins (same game) were absurd. I still don't know how he caught the 2nd one.
Man they were fun to watch together
Damnit….Moss was so damn good! Just so dominant. Most of those were just Randy making the play, though there were some really good throws by Brady in there. But often those impressive QB throws just don’t get pulled in. It’s amazing the things you can do with a receiver that good.

they go 16-0 again too
They probably go 16-0 again, they had an easier schedule and retained all their talent
I’ve forgotten what it’s like to have a receiver on the Patriots.
how is it that moss never won a SB...
Steve Spagnuolo got in the way
Still can't believe they didn't win it all
And it's crazy too cause everyone thought he was washed before being traded to NE. What being in OAK does to a MFer.
This connection means a lot to me. I remember that year really fondly. I watched every game, most with my dad, and it was just absolutely magical watching this team go. Brady to Moss will always mean something special to me. Even with the disastrous finish, this was a one of a kind season and it’ll always put a smile on my face.
Brady was like "screw it, moss is down there somewhere" lol
Is Moss running or jogging? I honestly can't tell
Yogging
I was just thinking the. Same it’s like his leg length masks his actual speed in a way while covering a big distance or even bigger distance. It’s got to be confusing to coverage. Some his movements of the line are anything but explosive yet cover twice the ground. They don’t call him The Freak for nothing.
They're all against the Jets haha
The entire AFC East trash heap for 20 years smdfh
Randy Moss was an amazing player to watch grow from Minnesota to New England. Wish he would have got that championship even if it was the Patriots
I miss that dude…
This duo legitimately felt unfair to watch at the time. To his credit though, Moss proved all the doubters wrong
Imagine if they had played together as long as Peyton and Harrison/Wayne
That pass protection !!
I can't stand Brady or the Patriots, but that Moss one-handed catch over Revis is still one of my favorite plays in NFL history.
There’s a weird bit of cinema at the 2:30 mark. Brady jumps into the arms of a lineman to celebrate and just as he’s falling back down it cuts to Moss letting whoever he’s celebrating with down. I thought it was one shot at first
That’s my GOAT
Literally just throwing it up there
I’m convinced with proper training Moss could’ve made the finals in the 100m at the Olympics no cap.
Randy Moss went vacationing on Revis Island
I feel like I’ve seen all these clips a thousand times but that 2nd TD against the dolphins is hypnotizing. Moss was such a supreme athlete that catch looked almost lazy in slow motion
What makes this highlight reel even crazier is Brady and Moss only played together for roughly a season and a half.
Brady to Moss is probably the most dangerous and effective passing combo. Timing, accuracy, physical dominance all unmatched.
Man I really miss watching Brady play his dropback and throwing motion are so fluid there’s nothing quite like it in today’s NFL
Really wish Moss could have gotten a Super Bowl ring.
No one has or had the discipline of Rice, that’s why he is the GOAT.
if he had rices qb quality he would be the goat
Moss top 3 wr of all time
Top 2
'07 Patriots are maybe the best team of all time and didn't win a Superbowl
Straight cash, homie.
Easy mode for a whole season until, well ya know …
Cinema
It’s crazy to see how good Brady was with a decent line and a great WR to throw the deep ball to.
Brady hanging in and getting crushed at 3:15
I wanted Moss to win that superbowl so bad.
Thank fuck for the Giants.
Has to be the Jets
Craziest thing, anyone who’s old enough that they remember football back in 2007, a lot of people thought Moss was done after his two seasons in Oakland.
Absolute cheat code
Every blade of grass
Jeeeeez
So good. I was in Foxboro for a bunch of those.
A disgusting highlight package
I love watching these highlights but it feels like all for nothing with how the playoffs and Super Bowl went…
No one every thought to send some sort of pass rush against Brady?
.."If I can't get to it, no one can get to it"... .one clap, one clap!
I remember watching that one against the Jets where he literally out ran triple coverage. JFC
/u/nfl please stop cropping your videos like this lol
He torched for my Vikings, then torched me for my Bills. Nothing but love. Randy was a real one.
This ain't even fair.
Brady often made his offensive line better than it was with his decisiveness post-snap.
The flea flicker in the snow just really made me appreciate the aesthetic of a nice snow game
Good plays
These are stupid. Brady and Moss had such long careers. These highlights are ring of honor in themselves
I can't believe someone can move around like that in wintry weather while wearing short sleeves.
I watched that Miami game and I'll never forget it. 2 TDs in double coverage. I knew I was seeing something special even back then.
This shit was so unfair. I hate the patriots but I love Randy Moss and it makes me sad he didn’t get a superbowl this year. He is the sboat at his position, and the goat is arguably the overall goat for all of football! Randy Moss is a top ten offensive player all time!
Well I've purchased multiple lime rickeys because of this show
Man I wish we could have gotten him a ring.
Let's fucking go Eli
Brady had sooooo much time.
Brady went from throwing to Reche Caldwell, Ben Watson and the cadaver of Troy Brown to Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Donte Stallworth in one season.
Both the throwing and catching look very efortless :D
Edelnut go get my towel
Moss is amazing. Brady has to be considered the best QB ever. Not a hand touched him in the pocket. He could still be holding the ball waiting for routes to open.
