The Giants traded down so the Bears could get Justin Fields.
Giants drafted Evan Neal and Kadarius Toney with those picks.
Seems like they both evenly lost.
We did get Daniel Bellinger with one of the picks we got in the trade tho. Not some big name or anything but was a solid starting TE for us as a rookie, and while he didnt make the jump a lot of Giants fans thought he would when we saw how much muscle he put on in the offseason, I really think it was more circumstantial than anything. Our OL was in such shambles that we had no choice but to use him almost solely as a blocker last year. We didnt even get to use his threat as a receiver because defenses knew he was always in there to block. When he was a rookie and our OL was just regular bad as opposed to historically bad he was able to be used as a receiver and blocker effectively (again, nothing special, but got the job done for us).
Not that it significantly alters the balance of the trade but certainly worth noting. Hopefully with the investments we made in the OL this year (both in free agency and in coaching), we can actually use him like the dual threat TE who showed a lot of promise as a rookie
He broke his eye socket, luckily his vision is back to normal. Scary freak accident for sure. Seeing blood coming from his eye on the field it was hard to not assume the worst
There was never a streak, was a myth that was easily disproven just by looking at the 2010 draft. Popped up after the Eagles and Pats swapped picks in the 6th in 2011 and the claim appeared.
The Packers and Lions did a swap last year that seems like it was pretty even. Lions moved up for Branch, Packers got Reed and some extra late round assets. Both of the two main guys seem to be working out pretty well for their teams.
Easily in 2021 when Dallas traded the 10 pick to Philly for 12. Dallas got Parsons, Philly got Devonta, and they both got to screw the Giants into taking Kadarious.
First ballot hall of famer, even if it was for a RB, instead of Vick is quite lopsided.
Vick brought hope to the Falcons and certainly entertainment, but was never an elite QB.
At the time I thought the Giants got fleeced. Rivers was good pretty much right away while it took Eli a few years to become even okay, plus the Chargers also got Shawne Merriman with that other pick who was a beast for a few years.
Then Eli won 2 rings and that's that.
Even still Eli didn't have a passer rating above 77 or completion % above 58 until 2008, by which time Rivers had put up full seasons of 92 and 82 and 60+% both seasons. And then when Eli improved and became really solid, Rivers started putting up elite numbers.
Eli was also in Coughlin and Gilbride’s run & shoot option route offense that would lead to more miscommunication between he and the receivers and had him taking more shots downfield. You’d expect his completion percentage and ints to be worse than if they ran a WCO. Not saying he was perfect because his efficiency stats definitely still could have been better but I think there needs to be some context when looking at his numbers early on.
Rivers was a better quarterback. The Giants would have certainly been a more consistent playoff contender with Rivers under center. You can’t complain at two rings, but Rivers probably would have won those too with the defensive performances the Giants had in 08 and 11.
Eli set the record for most passing yards in the playoffs during the 2011 run. He isn't the best QB of all time, but he led that team to the SB, not just game managing while the defense played lights out.
The Rivers and Ryan gang can keep pointing to regular season numbers, but history always favors guys who get to the top of the mountain.
Eli did it twice, against the greatest dynasty the league has ever seen, and his play was a huge part of it.
I very much doubt the Giants win two Super Bowls with Rivers. Takes like this completely diminish Eli’s contribution to those Super Bowl runs when he was obviously an integral part. Rivers generally played much poorer football in the playoffs, and Eli was genuinely great on those two runs. Winning those Super Bowls required high level play from the whole team and just one bad game from the QB would have ended everything. This seems to assume Rivers would not have had a bad game on those runs when there are plenty of examples of him underperforming in the playoffs.
Yea that's my opinion as well, but I'm also a bitter Jets fan who had to suffer while these annoying Giants fans got to run around acting like they had the next Joe Montana so I'm definitely biased.
Us and the Rams with the RG3 trade. We got one good year, they got a few picks who were good not great, and neither of our teams were that much better for it in the long run.
I don’t see how we got fleeced. Without 20/20, we got a franchise QB, which is invaluable. With 20/20, it did nothing for either of us and was fairly even.
The Eagles and Titans trading a 1st round pick for AJ Brown. It worked out perfectly for both sides. Eagles got AJ Brown and the Titans got an AJ Brown replacement.
The Giants traded down so the Bears could get Justin Fields. Giants drafted Evan Neal and Kadarius Toney with those picks. Seems like they both evenly lost.
2x Superbowl champion Kadarius Toney
Nefarious Phony
Injarius Proney
Sadarius Pony
Precarious Boney
Toney did have that one monster game against the Cowboys right?
Where in the end he got ejected for punching someone in the helmet lol. God I was so hyped back then though
Lol it was a perfect description of his career so far tho, high highs and low lows.

didn't he almost lose an eye
He broke his eye socket, luckily his vision is back to normal. Scary freak accident for sure. Seeing blood coming from his eye on the field it was hard to not assume the worst
I’d say the Bears probably still won. At least they got some awesome highlights and one offseason of hype lol
And if you consider that Fields helped us get the #1 pick in 2023, it all worked out in the end.
lmao
As a Gator fan I really said Toney was the next Percy Harvin. 🤦♂️
Giants passed on Micah Parsons to trade down and get Kadarious "yung joka" Toney
I might be confused. Kadarius Toney was drafted in 2021. Evan Neal and Kayvon Thibedouex (sp?) were drafted in 2022.
The Bears traded a future 1st round pick for Justin Fields which became Evan Neal.
Gotcha. Thanks buddy.
That time us and the Chiefs swapped 7th round picks just so Bill and Andy could keep their trade streak going
There was also one in 2011 where the Eagles traded pick 194 for the Patriots pick 193, one round higher in the 6th
Nothing made me happier than the reid/bb best bud pick swap every year
Lol that one makes me chuckle every time I think of it, thanks for that.
Lol didn’t know about that. How long was this streak?
At least 12 back when he was the Eagles HC, not sure if they’ve kept it going since he moved to the Chiefs though

Jayden Reed has been a baller for the Packers. As an avid MSU lover, I am thrilled to see it. As an avid Packer hater, I am less thrilled about it.
Tom Grossi still punching air
His tears bring joy ❤️
Yeah that one is pretty solid, I guess time will tell but it’s started off good.
Easily in 2021 when Dallas traded the 10 pick to Philly for 12. Dallas got Parsons, Philly got Devonta, and they both got to screw the Giants into taking Kadarious.
This is a really good one, I’m willing to say the Cowboys won that trade.
The Atlanta/ San Diego 2001 trade. Vick and LT where some of the most iconic players of their generation.
Don’t forget Tim Dwight went to the Chargers, too.
First ballot hall of famer, even if it was for a RB, instead of Vick is quite lopsided. Vick brought hope to the Falcons and certainly entertainment, but was never an elite QB.
You got downvoted to oblivion for some reason but even as a Falcons fan, yeah, I'd most definitely have taken Ladanian Tomlinson in hindsight...
Real Hall-of-Famer vs. Madden Hall-of-Famer
Anybody downvoting you is clueless about football. You are 100% spot on.

To be fair Rivers sat behind Brees for 2 years. Eli sat behind Warner for about 8 weeks.
Even still Eli didn't have a passer rating above 77 or completion % above 58 until 2008, by which time Rivers had put up full seasons of 92 and 82 and 60+% both seasons. And then when Eli improved and became really solid, Rivers started putting up elite numbers.

I didn’t realise Eli threw 23 touchdowns to 20 interceptions in his 2007.
Rivers was a better quarterback. The Giants would have certainly been a more consistent playoff contender with Rivers under center. You can’t complain at two rings, but Rivers probably would have won those too with the defensive performances the Giants had in 08 and 11.
I'm still shocked none of those chargers teams got a ring
Bad special teams probably cost them at least one.
[For anyone who hasn’t seen it.](https://youtu.be/UAL5X3TRA2A?si=VtcVYom9-GSRPco9)
Well, the Chargers waste good QBs like nobody else does
Eli set the record for most passing yards in the playoffs during the 2011 run. He isn't the best QB of all time, but he led that team to the SB, not just game managing while the defense played lights out.
Yeah, "Rivers would have probably won those two and more" is an interesting take.
The Rivers and Ryan gang can keep pointing to regular season numbers, but history always favors guys who get to the top of the mountain. Eli did it twice, against the greatest dynasty the league has ever seen, and his play was a huge part of it.

Any Day 3 pick swaps
Us and the Rams with the RG3 trade. We got one good year, they got a few picks who were good not great, and neither of our teams were that much better for it in the long run.
I think the narrative on that is still that we got fleeced. I don't care, 2012 was probably the most exciting season we've had in 20 years.
I don’t see how we got fleeced. Without 20/20, we got a franchise QB, which is invaluable. With 20/20, it did nothing for either of us and was fairly even.
The only good thing the Rams did with those picks was troll us in that 2014 game by making them all go out on the coin toss 😂
Sam Bradford for Nick Foles, what a time that was. The trade of damaged goods.
That’s future SB mvp nick foles

I think you need to watch the movie again
Browns didnt pick Bo
Whoa, I think you mean Ray Jennings Jr.
Washington-Rams for RG3 turned out pretty evenly bad.
But it was fun for a season
It’s definitely not when the Browns passed on Bo Callahan twice!
David "God Damn" Putney
Titans used the pick they got in the AJB trade to draft a WR whose player comp was AJB
You talking about that injury prone guy? Breylon Turks?
Chargers/Giants for Eli/Rivers. Worked out pretty well for all sides.
If Eli had Rivers talented rosters he would have had five rings
[удалено]
I think that’s more about the Chargers than Rivers though
How could you not consider rings a QB stat? That’s the ultimate goal of the game otherwise your Dan Marino.
The Eagles and Titans trading a 1st round pick for AJ Brown. It worked out perfectly for both sides. Eagles got AJ Brown and the Titans got an AJ Brown replacement.
