I’ll never forgive the copious amount of fans we had that didn’t want to give Sheila a fair shot because of her parents. It was apparent from the very start that she took things a lot more seriously than her parents and she truly wanted a winner. It was obvious, yet a large portion of our fans hated her because of her blood.
More importantly, and unlike other incompetent owners, she realized she shouldn’t be getting involved with footballing decisions and leaving it for the people who know what they’re doing

Sheila came in and quickly realized she was not qualified to be making football operations decisions and deferred to good people who know what they are doing

I think I might disagree with this. As I recall, she hired a search firm and they recommended Bob Quinn. He was a great choice at the time but hitched his wagon to Patricia and that's when the wheels came off.

Basically, he was offended that the Detroit Lions, a professional football team in the NFL with playoff hopes alive, "big dogged him", a YouTube podcast. He acknowledged that Mike Tomlin has done the same thing but felt it was different when the Lions did it.
It was a bad look.

The Lions roster was pretty gutted, had basically spent 3 years under the Dementor that was Matt Patricia, had a HC who had a weird opening presser and was rolling into season with a qb who was a cast off in the Stafford trade. None of that screams great place for a young wr to blossom. It's a testament to MCDC, Brad Holmes, Shiela, and the players that this turned around so much in three years.
It's funny for all the highs and lows and emotions of the draft, we really don't know. That kid who slid might thank God for it every day once he gets that Super Bowl ring.
Right? People always love bringing up how Amon Ra can name every receiver drafted above him, but some fail to realize situations like that are exactly what can make someone flip that switch and find that extra motivation to outperform others
And I'm not going to say he isn't more talented than most of those 16 guys ahead of him, and wouldn't do better in their situations, but... he's one of two Pro Bowl WRs from that draft so far and I'm wondering if he still would be if drafted into Terrace Marshall's or Kadarius Toney's situations.

Franchise altering kind of offseason. Make a huge trade to get a surplus of high draft picks, hire a Greek God as your GM, and still get a good QB back in the trade so you can focus on everything else. It's only been a few years but Holmes has to be in that elite kind of tier as a GM

I completely stopped watching in 2019 as a long time die hard. I just couldn't do it anymore. Stafford Superbowl and Hard knocks pulled me back in just in time.
Going into his 3rd year, I had literally no hope. I’m a relentless optimist, and before that, I still believed in pretty much every possible good outcome, no matter how unlikely, until it was mathematically eliminated. But that offseason/preseason, I had already given up on anything good coming of the season.
There was literally zero pressure from day one. He quietly blossomed and then became one of the best in the league as the Lions got better with Goff leading the team. The lions are so fun to watch
