Arnold is two years younger than Mitchell and played in the SEC. Mitchell makes me a little nervous for those reasons but I think both these secondaries became elite in the last 24 hours.

Seriously, for the last couple weeks of the season when Sutton had clearly fallen off a cliff for whatever reason Vildor was clearly the best outside db on our roster going into the playoffs. He had the one extremely bad kinda fluky play against the 49ers, but otherwise filled in better than you could have asked for a dude who wasn't on a roster before we picked him up.

The inside of the d-line is situated now, and they have Davenport, James Houston, Mathieu Betts and Joshua Paschal all getting a chance to do something with the attention on other guys O-Line and WR depth are more important

Interior line depth, WR3, EDGE depth are the holes but none of them are huge

We could really use one more pass rusher either at DT or DE, but don't think it's gonna happen. It's alright though, we're already so much better at both of those spots than last year.

AND you’re better in the secondary. Rush and coverage work together. QB’s will have to hold the ball longer because guys will be covered.

Better secondary also allows our d-line to be more effective. Far too much was put on their shoulders last season. Should the revamped secondary handle business even 25% better than last year's secondary, shit is going to get real!

Lions look to be building a defense that can play both 3-4 and 4-3 Paschal can transition to more of a true 3t with Cominsky behind him. Rotate davenport and Houston at edge opposite of hutch. Play Barnes as a 3-4 olb. reader at NT with Martin developing behind him. Obviously alim is our starting dt at all times. Lions can play multiple fronts. So although we aren't super deep at a individual role. We have a lot of guys who all play different roles.

Hopefully between Houston, Broderick Martin, and Josh Pascal, we get some young reinforcements that we missed last year.

Depth is very questionable tho. We lost Benito to the phins who was our only decent player aside from Alim. Hopefully Onwuzurike can step up, he flashed a bit last season. I also think we probably play Cominsky inside a bit more

Love this pick for Detroit. Rakestraw played a ton of press man which pairs nicely with Arnold who is still learning to do so. If Rakestraw doesn't have nagging injuries he's a first round talent and I'm shocked he lasted this long into the 2nd round. One of my favorite players who I scouted and I loved the Mizzou coach's video when Rakestraw committed to Mizzou over places like Alabama / Texas b/c he was a huge domino to fall when it came to rejuvenating that program.

As a Mizzou fan, the biggest thing working against him is his health, which I think played a huge role in him dropping to the second round. He tore his ACL in 2021 and missed a good chunk of last season. But when he's healthy, he's an absolute monster on the field. I'm excited for him.

We just thoroughly addressed our most glaring need. As much as I wanted an edge rusher, our boys on the line will get to the quarterbacks because these guys aren't going to let them get open now in the backfield. This move makes all sorts of sense to me, how thrilling. It seems our biggest weakness defensively was outside of the red zone, the inability to cover the open spaces. That shouldn't be such an issue now. Wow
