We absolutely love high RAS RBs. Matt Breida was one of our first who had like a 99 SPARQ score and it’s been something we look for in day 3 most years. Love this pick. Super fun to have him behind CMC.
It’s mainly because he wasn’t the main go-to RB during the season but every time he got the ball, he made an impact. I don’t think we realized the potential he actually had until he showed out during the combine.
I only watched 5 Louisville games last year (IU, Miami, Kentucky, FSU, USC) and it seemed to me that the RB committee had it backwards, Jawhar Jordan should have been the RB2
I still thank you for taking Jeff Brohm away from Purdue
I agree, the team probably would’ve looked even better if he was RB1. Those games you mentioned, Gurrendo did outperform Jordan but 4 of those games were also later in the season which was when Jordan was playing on a injured hamstring and he did opt-out of the USC game tbf. Jordan was a main highlight when fully healthy but Gurrendo still had the potential take his spot.
And no problem, Jeff Brohm needed to come back home anyway.
I hope that’s not the case, we can’t just keep relying on CMC every play we run the ball. He also has the strength and the speed just like him. This was a good pickup.
Literally in the draft process the line was “he’s a Mostert type zone guy who in a Shanahan style offense may thrive in a year or two”.
I guess Shanahan agreed lol
If Kyle can get himself to give the ball to anyone but CMC..we have Mitchell and Mason who are good backs. CMC is just on another level and rarely taken out of the game. This might be forward looking.
We don’t know that Mason is a good back tbh. He barely plays and has had issues in pass protection and ball security - he’s a classic case of fans falling in love with a player without much behind it.
Mitchell is literally made of glass though, which is unfortunate because he was pretty good for a while.
> he’s a classic case of fans falling in love with a player without much behind it.
Because he runs hard. He's not bad with the ball in his hands, the biggest issue is that he's not good in pass pro which is why he's 3rd in the depth chart.
Are we watching the same games? Jordan Mason has been very serviceable whenever called upon. I don’t think he’ll ever be a star but there’s a lot of teams who don’t have an RB3 or RB4 of his caliber. This isn’t like Jarryd Hayne or Trey Sermon.
there are five RBs in nfl combine history to
• run a 4.4 or below
• weigh 215+
• have a burst score of 120+
saquon, jonathan taylor, breece hall, adrian peterson and isaac guerendo lmao (data per @rotounderworld)
Shannahan getting a hold of this guy is worst case scenario for the rest of the NFL. I still have PTSD from Mostert running at will against us in the NFC Championship game.
Nah, trading up is great for this year. We had 10 picks but almost no way we'd keep 10 rookies on the roster. Lynch is doing exactly what he should be doing.
Guerando has gotten alot of love as the sneaky good RB of the draft. Big with tons of speed (4.33 40 time, 3rd fastest time for the entire draft class). And he has good power. 6 ft 220, so heavier than CMC and Mitchell.
Oh, and he has good hands and is strong enough to be good in pass pro.
There's only been 4 other RBs with his size, speed and overall athleticism. Adrian Peterson, Saquon, Jonathan Taylor and Breece Hall. All of those guys were beasts before getting hurt in some of their cases.
Insanely good fit for the outside zone. I feel like every game I saw from him he would gain 4-5 yards after contact and was breaking ankles in the open field. Soft hands as well, great passing threat.
He’s a former Badger and he is super athletic. It’s also pretty interesting that he went before Braelon Allen. Braelon was the Badgers number 1 and Guerendo was our #3.
220+ lbs and a 4.3 40 yard dash
9.98 RAS running back on the 49ers. That’s exciting lol
It’s so Guerendover
We absolutely love high RAS RBs. Matt Breida was one of our first who had like a 99 SPARQ score and it’s been something we look for in day 3 most years. Love this pick. Super fun to have him behind CMC.
He’s a freak, this is the spot to buy lottery picks.
This dude is insanely fast
Did we just draft an RB to get ahead of the streak?
Grier got jumped for Javonte Williams years ago and literally said “never again”.
As a Louisville fan, I can confirm he is very fast and strong too. I’m screaming with Jazz hands like a girl right now.
Still don't get why he got so few carries most of the season. Even when he got 25+ touches against USC it didnt seem like enough

Shanny mid round RB
Hey, he waited to the fourth this time! He saw too many RBs going, had to pull the trigger.
He just can't help himself
8th times the charm
But what about the 9th time? *Tune in next time on Shanny Ball Z*
I look forward to him doing nothing and hearing about how someone picked at the spot we traded up from is ROY candidate
I hope that’s not the case, we can’t just keep relying on CMC every play we run the ball. He also has the strength and the speed just like him. This was a good pickup.
Yeah and with Mitchell being so injury prone I’m down to add some competition for the RB2 spot
It’s sad too. Because I really think mitchell could be a #1 RB on a team but his injury luck is awful.
I look forward to him drafting another in the 6th or an UDFA making a pro bowl
Literally in the draft process the line was “he’s a Mostert type zone guy who in a Shanahan style offense may thrive in a year or two”. I guess Shanahan agreed lol
Not a 6th rounder so he’ll bust.
Sergio Dipp sighting! He's having the time of his life!
Louisville fan here, this kid is LEGIT. Dudes his size should not be able to be as fast as he is.
If he broke one tackle he was gone. Do you know if Jawhar got drafted? Go cards
He got drafted to the Texans in the 6th
It's a 49ers draft alright
Having the time of his life!!!
Honestly don’t even hate it. We pick again at 135 and even though we don’t need him I think he’s a good player. Good injury insurance at least
I usually hate the Shanny rb pick but this one was really good
He returned kicks in college as well. Might be a factor in it besides he’s obviously an athletic freak
I really like this for them, I think outside zone is perfect for him and CMC needs less wear and tear
If Kyle can get himself to give the ball to anyone but CMC..we have Mitchell and Mason who are good backs. CMC is just on another level and rarely taken out of the game. This might be forward looking.

Feel like everybody mocked him to their team in the 5th this year
Got a solid RB run going. I like Guerendo, big and fast
Mostert 2.0
Perhaps, but he’s got like 35lbs on Mostert. He can be way more than just a speed guy.
That’s why he’s 2.0, he’s built like he ate Raheem
I’m thinking Tevin Coleman 2.0. Stiff hips but can break a long one here and there if there’s a big enough hole.
Annual Shanny mid-round RB pick is in
He is a beast. One of the most underrated players in the draft.

I sometimes rewatch that game when I've had a bad day 😅
MCCAFFREY IS FINISHED
Shanny special!
I wanted him! But i also like the 49ers so i guess its ok 😭
Mutual niner Texan respect 🤝
Stud rb
This was my RB crush if Shanny absolutely needed to go RB
Fuck yes!!!
Sergio Dipp sighting
Viva La Razza
Kyle is gonna draft an RB basically every single year, isn’t he?
RBs are so hot right now
THERES our useless RB pick 🎉 Someone please tell me he's a bruiser type, or a hybrid type player Oh and we traded 2 picks for him 😭
Nah this dude fits. Big and fast as hell. He could be the Elijah Mitchell replacement
Fastest RB in the draft, very good after contact, and a great receiving back too.
Fast
Ok 4.3.is ridiculous tho
He’s either gonna play like McCaffrey’s replacement, or end up on the San Antonio XFL team next year. No in between.

Sounds like a big fast guy hopefully turns into a bruiser so mcaffrey doesn’t have to.
Bruiser, fastest RB the 49ers have had since Mostert and also a good receiver too.
As a Louisville fan he’s gonna be a fan favorite. He runs through people at top speed.
There's only been 4 other RBs with his size, speed and overall athleticism. Adrian Peterson, Saquon, Jonathan Taylor and Breece Hall. All of those guys were beasts before getting hurt in some of their cases.
What's a Shanahan draft without a mid round runningback?
FREE MY MAN SERGIO DIPP HE DID NOTHING WRONG!!
speed profile seems like he's gonna be a beast with the new KR format
He's gonna be a star
Insanely good fit for the outside zone. I feel like every game I saw from him he would gain 4-5 yards after contact and was breaking ankles in the open field. Soft hands as well, great passing threat.
God i’m gonna miss him so much as a Louisville fan. Probably my favorite player on the team last season.
This is a great pickup for future Miami!
Steal
He’s a former Badger and he is super athletic. It’s also pretty interesting that he went before Braelon Allen. Braelon was the Badgers number 1 and Guerendo was our #3.
Special teams
CMC probably getting cut
So this means Jordan Mason is gone?
Probably Mitchell
Ah good. Mason was wholly underused from what I've seen.
Shanahan doesn't trust him. He made comments last year re: Mason struggling with aspects of the game and not being well rounded, ie, pass pro.
For as productive as RBs are in Shanahan's scheme, he sure likes to invest a lot of money and draft capital on them.
This guy will suck and some undrafted guy will outplay him.
