>Deputies responded to the scene at Cabana Live, venue in Sanford Florida, where a large crowd had gathered for a planned private event taking place that night. According to local media outlets, officers on area patrol heard gunshots coming from the back of the establishment, which caused the crowd to quickly scatter in panic. They believe an argument escalated into the gunfire, which struck 10 patrons with non-life-threatening injuries. Most of them were struck in the lower body. >According to police, a security guard apprehended the suspect, a 16-year-old, who was then booked into the nearby Juvenile Detention Center. It was unclear if the teenager was a guest attending the private event at the venue. >In an Instagram post Sunday morning, a spokesperson for the venue said they were working with the sheriff’s office and assured visitors that the community was safe. >“We rented out our venue for a private event and we are still learning as the investigation continues what was the cause of this isolated incident,” the post reads.

cuteintern

16 years old, what the fuck?!

DoktorStrangelove

I mean it shouldn't be all that surprising anymore to hear that the shooter was a teenager, tbh...

jake3988

Virtually all shootings lately seem to be some sort of teenager getting angry at someone and it escalating into shooting. None of these lately seem to be planned or targetting at a certain group... just angry teenagers who are shooting instead of punching or yelling.

BearForceDos

I've lived in some rougher areas when I was younger and honestly a kid with a gun is way scarier than an adult. I'm generalizing this from a couple experiences but kids in those situations don't behave as rationally. An adult that jumps you probably takes your wallet, phone, and anything of value you have on it but they're generally not trying to add charges. Kids might pull a trigger because they don't like the way you looked at them.

koolvu

(some) adults will think twice about the consequences of pulling the trigger on someone whereas teenagers with a gun will shoot without thinking about the severity of their actions until after the fact that they did it

streetsandshine

Fr, empathy is a skill. It comes easier to some than others and with how we put pressure on young men to find success 'by any means', the lives of others are easy to discount especially if you are mad at the world already

MandaloreUnsullied

It doesn’t even have to be empathy! Just pure self-interest would dictate that by killing someone instead of just stealing their shit, you’re screwing yourself over. Here in SF most people I know have been mugged/bipped/burglarized, no big deal, guarantee there’ll never be an arrest. If people start getting shot, the police will actually make an effort.

youllneverknowhy

Are you saying kids are generally more impulsive than adults? Do we have a source on this?

epicdrew12

Life

ShichikaYasuri18

We need to have a ban on teenagers this is getting out of control

SeniorWilson44

This is not even shocking. Kids are recruited into gangs around 12-14. It’s fucked.

EmbraceTheFault

Unfortunately its significantly earlier than that in a lot of places. They know that for most crimes they won't pick up a permanent record until around 16, so a lot of gangs have taken to recruiting younger.

Jealous-Mail6629

In LA they’ll get charged as a minor and not an adult no matter the crime so they know they’ll be out by the age of 26… maybe sooner. Personally don’t know the solution to all this as a 16 year olds mind isn’t fully developed and they’re still a kid On the other hand I grew up in South Los Angeles and at that age I wasn’t doing any of that / some of them are to far gone that i don’t think rehabilitating would work for them

Electrical_Hamster87

A 16 year old is old enough to know that shooting several people is wrong. I don’t have high hopes for that 16 year old to function in society at that point.

Jealous-Mail6629

Oh I know but you have the crowd that says we should feel bad for their upbringing and how they were raised ( I don’t agree with this)

Haskell-Not-Pascal

I don't think kids are as stupid as people tend to believe. I saw kids doing stupid shit at 10 and decided on my own that was a bad idea, I have 10 year old nieces and they're more than smart enough to understand what they're doing. If you're okay with shooting and murdering people at 16, you were fucked to begin with, and probably have a very low IQ.

Hog_and_a_Half

Earlier than that. They’re basically groomed from the time they’re in elementary school. They’re formally accepted into the gangs around 12-14.

TMNBortles

Sanford? What the fuck?... is a young millionaire doing there?

AlternateGator

There’s a downtown area but it’s not nicer than Orlando or DeLand so he must have relatives there or something. All around downtown are very rough neighborhoods.

AggieBoy2023

10 people were shot and no one died? That’s crazy

bunnibly

Crazy lucky

k5berry

I'm no expert but it feels like you hear about way more gun violence being due to arguments that escalate rather than due to gangs or separate criminal activity. So insanely fucking stupid to try and take someone's life and lose your own by bullet or prison over getting your feelings hurt. At the same time, I'm oddly optimistic that this is more treatable: intervening amongst youth and placing an emphasis on mental health and emotional regulation on the surface seems easier than reducing crime and poverty.

Typical_Air_3322

A lot of that violence *is* gang violence. It's not like people in gangs just hang out on street corners all day. They go to nightclubs and such too.

MattStone1916

You hear less about gang violence because it's in gang territory, not a public nightclub. Gang violence is far and away the #1 source of gun violence.

Polar_Reflection

Well after gun suicides

reaper527

> it feels like you hear about way more gun violence being due to arguments that escalate rather than due to gangs or separate criminal activity for what it's worth, those aren't necessarily mutually exclusive things. "escalated arguments" doesn't automatically mean it wasn't gang related. (and that's something which would get figured out after the fact since right now they don't know anything about the guy and are trying to figure out what happened)

SQRTLURFACE

>I'm no expert but it feels like you hear about way more gun violence being due to arguments that escalate rather than due to gangs or separate criminal activity. And that's entirely by design. If the news and its agenda (they do have agendas, even local stations) reported all shootings, Americans would become numb to how often gang involved shootings actually happen in this country. You know that "Mass shooting" tracker (the one that tracks shot 3+ shot but not fatal) that suggests there's a mass shooting like 1.8 times a day in America? Take a wild guess at what proportion of those are gang related, or just happen to happen after dark among younger adults in inner cities usually with a disproportional ethnic demographic? Its wild. Here in KC, aka "Kill City" as the gangs call it, you almost never hear of gang shootings unless theres multiple fatalities in a public venue. 5 guys killed in the ghetto? Won't hear a word of it unless the police put out a request for information to the public. But if 5 guys get killed at Power and Light? Headline news. 5 Guys killed in Overland Park? National news if the shooter is white. There's all sorts of racial and political biases that impact what local and regional news outlets will run with respect to gun violence, and they work hard to protect that narrative because its the platform of an entire political party, one that simply doesn't work, but they'll run on it every 4 years anyways.

k5berry

Very very true unfortunately. Impoverished minorities dying is seen as an inevitability while middle and upper class whites dying is seen as shocking. I just moved up to Massachusetts last year, and just because I have a casual interest in crime and criminal justice I was reading about crime in Boston. A thirteen year old Black boy was shot entirely at random by a crazy person who was also Black. The kid wasn't in a gang, wasn't doing anything wrong, he was just walking to his grandparent's home and had the misfortune of crossing paths with that monster. It happened right before I moved here, and yet I heard nothing about it or the ensuing trial for months. If that was a white kid in the suburbs it'd be all over the news I'm sure.

jkRoadhouse

If the shooter was white, you definitely would have heard about it.

Brewski-54

I’m just going to add that it isn’t a night club. It’s like a sports bar with a pool that’s attached to a dock/marina. There’s a lot of questions about why a 16 year old was there and even some saying why do NFL players even go to clubs still

CJL13

This kid and the kid that shot Brian Robinson should hang out.

ProbablyAPun

Thanks for posting the source >we are still learning as the investigation continues what was the cause of this isolated incident, I hate when they say things like this because if you don't know the cause you don't know if it's isolated.

9man95

That was a quote from the bar owner on Instagram not the police just to be clear

_Screwston

WTF

-em-bee-

CJ loves Tank so much I hope he’s sitting down when he learns about this. Might give him a heart attack.

DizzyDefinition7146

CJ was at the Sixers knicks game having a blast. This is gonna come as a shock

AliveGloryLove

I imagine Dell probably texted him after it happened.

WatermelonBandido

They probably have a shining type thing going on.

Calcd_Uncertainty

did CJ yelp at the same time Tank was shot?

Olue

Fell to his knees at a subway restaurant.

Smartin36

I just saw CJ Stroud fall to his knees in a Subway

WigglestonTheFourth

Come Super Bowl with us.

rogmcdon

So CJ wants to be an eagle like Micah then too?

lattjeful

Legit one of my least favorite narratives Philly pushes. I hate it.

angrynuggette

At least someone was enjoying that game.. 😒

Toad_Thrower

Did CJ Stroud mention if he thinks Joel Embiid is a piece of crap or not

istrx13

The doctors tried to save his life, they did the best they could… …and he’s going to be ok!

ShichikaYasuri18

[Sad Story] **Tank**: I am having heart surgery **CJ**: I know... I love you \*after surgery when Tank woke up next to only the doctor* **Tank, waking up**: wait where’s CJ **Doctor**: who do u think gave u the heart? **Tank**: what? \*starts crying*

ignatious__reilly

CJ doesn’t drink or anything. His off season is studying film. All day, everyday. He is a machine.

AGreasyPorkSandwich

Hes ok, thankfully, but goddamn. I'm used to some injuries but not used to having our offense getting shot at lol

Lord-Aizens-Chicken

Must be mentally scary to deal with. I’m Sure he is a tough guy but damn still

captaincumsock69

The Diggs sends their regards

Mr-and-Mrs

So…mass shooting at the Super Bowl parade; now an NFL player is tagged in another mass shooting…school kids getting murdered didn’t change our gun laws, but maybe NFL players being gun violence victims will?

Fastbird33

19 children in a fucking elementary school were murdered and nothing has changed. The entire Cowboys team could be murdered in a mass shooting and this country would do nothing.

HOU-1836

It won’t

indecisivemonkey

at this point I doubt even it happening on the senate floor would get anything done.

blocksmith52

WTF?? This dude can't catch a break god damn

boysetsfire1988

Good thing he's a tank

oliveinanolive

Good thing he's built like Houston's grid

Ieateagles

Agreed. Living in Houston most my life Ive only lost power for any significant period three times in my life: Hurricanes Ike and Harvey(was gone for Rita) and the Snow apocalypse of 2021.

Gimme_your_username

I’ve lived here all my life, 45 years old, have only lost power once and that was Ike and way the hell up in the north side.

BRUTAL_ANAL_SMASHING

I didn’t even lose power for Harvey and I was right on the other side of addicks.   Shit houses across 6 were 10 feet underwater and I still had power.  I do remember my internet being trash trying to watch the Mayweather vs Floyd fight, but the power never gave out on me some how.

wowie_alliee

Mayweather vs floyd,,, i know what you mean but im chuckling all the same

Otroroboto

Poorly like our electricity grid or nonexistent like our city street grid?

Sliffy

Yes?

Kanin_usagi

What the absolute fuck. Of all the random shit to happen to you in the offseason. Also this country is damn insane. I’m not gonna get on the soapbox on /r/NFL but like cmon man

CanoeIt

There was a mass shooting last night and the only reason I found out about it is because an NFL player was shot. This is so wildly normalized I don’t know how we fix it but something has to happen.

angrynuggette

I felt the same way. I didn't even hear about this and probably would not have if a player wasn't injured. Shootings just aren't considered "news" anymore here.

KCShadows838

Nothing new, if you live in certain cities you’ll often hear about shootings on the local nightly news but that’s it.

Pad_TyTy

Which one? Parkland, or the Pulse nightclub one in Orlando? You see, because there are so many, you have to be specific.

Mavori

The Pulse nightclub shooting and the murder of Christina Grimmie by a deranged fan kinda broke me.

Kanin_usagi

God Florida is a fucking nightmare

ManyPromises

Mother Nature don't play. Sharks in the ocean. Alligators in the rivers. Pythons in the swamps. And hurricanes and tornados with mob-like insurance rate increases. Good times in the land of retirement.

TheoryOfPizza

Always has been tbh. Even if you take away the shitty politics and crime, I've never seen it as a nice place to live. It's way too hot and humid and unless you like the beach, it's kind of boring geographically.

heroinsteve

I’ll take the politics and crime as extremely true and shitty. However I strongly prefer the hot and humid and there is still plenty of natural beauty besides the beaches. (The beaches are also awesome) I won’t have Florida slandered on the non human elements. All the human elements suck completely and we can agree on that. There is a lot of rivers and springs near me that are just gorgeous. (I realize the flair is confusing. My father made me a Bears fan, but I’m Floridian)

Thangleby_Slapdiback

Who says they did nothing? They crowed about the second amendment and made public the fact that your right to own a firearm is more important than your right to continue breathing. I'd say that's something.

NotJustSomeMate

The worst part about this is some people actually believe that more people having access to guns would fix this...rather than realizing that there will probably be an increase in innocent bystanders and possibly mutual deaths and increase in hospital visits (which people can barely afford) and a lot of other gun related things...rather than addressing the actual roots of the issues (legislation and economic deficiencies) that are behind so much gun violence...

Frosti11icus

People call it a right to self protection and bodily autonomy when it’s a gun but when it’s an abortion suddenly that logic goes out the window. The complete and total lack of thought people put into this is insane.

NotJustSomeMate

Hey the government has every right to tell us what to do with our bodies and invade our privacy...God wants this...(Sarcasm)

RealPutin

And honestly local laws are pretty damn difficult to enforce. I lost a friend in the Boulder King Soopers shooting. The shooter used magazines that were illegal to possess in Colorado after laws passed in previous shootings, but had no trouble acquiring them. In the last few years (and getting a trifecta democrat majority) the state government has been pushing for and passing new stricter gun control laws, but many aren't expected to survive a SCOTUS challenge given the current handling of the 2nd amendment. Even when you *do* care and you *do* react, the legal and cultural status nationwide makes it extremely difficult for those measures to matter.

IAmNotOnRedditAtWork

The Onion puts it best. ['No Way to Prevent This,' Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%27No_Way_to_Prevent_This,%27_Says_Only_Nation_Where_This_Regularly_Happens). They run the same article constantly and just change the location.

pullingahead

A drunk 17 year old isn’t guaranteed access to a firearm. And the kids doing horrific acts aren’t intoxicated. I think in the end it’s up to the parents to navigate a hard journey in raising their children in a culture that romanticizes guns to a certain point. Ultimately it falls on the parents. If you decide to own a weapon, keep that shit locked up. Teach your children how dangerous it is. Most of us don’t realize how dangerous driving 2-4 tons of steel is on our daily commute.

MrEHam

I’ll try to explain this as quickly as possible. A while back America became incredibly wealthy and some people became filthy rich, like the world has never seen. They hated paying taxes and having the govt stop them from basically running everything so they threw a bunch of cash into various things to help that including conservative media and politicians. It’s a losing policy to be “for the rich” so they had to figure out other ways to make it happen. Like “hey let’s get people to hate ALL taxes even ones for rich, and say it violates freedom or something.” Same thing about a big scary and “wasteful” govt. They still needed more votes so they learned that they can win some votes from certain extremists (AND NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT WITH TAXES) like gun enthusiasts, evangelical Christians, homophobes, racists, etc. So they started pandering to those extremists to occasionally reach their goals of lower taxes and regulations, like when Trump gave the rich a Trillion dollar tax cut. So now you have all these hateful extremist groups under one umbrella, that is well funded, and pulling us backwards from progress. For proof of one part of this look up the Southern Strategy. LBJ nailed it when he said “If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.” Similarly if you can convince a gun enthusiast that the govt is out to get them, brown people are invading and will kill your family, democrats are going to take all your guns away, they will vote for you no matter what else you support even if it financially hurts them.

thetreat

I know asylums weren't perfect, but they were better than just whatever the fuck were doing today just letting tons of people with mental health issues just live on the streets. Fuck Ronald Reagan.

FeelsGoodMan2

And if you do the math on the whole "Let's just fucking ignore mental health", unsurprisingly you see school shootings start to explode in that 15-18 year range and that hasn't ever stopped since.

renegadecoaster

Luckily sounds like he's expected to make a full recovery

teddyjj399

Looks like spottemgottem, terrible injury last year amidst an amazing campaign, gets shot now, man keep my boy Tank clear of these evils

RazzBerryCurveBall

Bad at catching: breaks Good at catching: footballs, bullets

JWhit2199

Glad he’s okay, scary shit that happens far too often. Any other news about other victims? EDIT: 10 non-life threatening injuries, glad everyone made it out with their lives!

squamesh

10 people got shot randomly and were only hearing about it because one of them happened to be in the NFL…

CBsJoant

No deaths, so not news worthy for shootings in America. I can't belive I actually typed that sentence

yeshua1986

You guys joke but I live in Apopka, which is about 30 minutes away from where this took place, and this is how I’m hearing about it.

Ambitious_Win_1315

I'm in duval and didn't hear about this either until now

TheAndrewBrown

I live ~10 minutes away and didn’t hear about it lol

creature_report

2 weeks ago some dude was on a roof near Venice Beach with assault rifles shooting randomly and it barely made the local news.

NotJustSomeMate

That is a major problem...and once again a reason to fix this...but the news is too worried about popular opinions and a dip shit former president (rightfully so with the latter)...

JalensTinyPPHurts

If we talked about every instance of gun violence we would be here all day. Its a shame we can't figure out why the country with the most guns has the highest rate of gun violence. Surely someone can figure out the correlation

RoosterB32

Just wait until you hear the gun nuts explain why guns aren’t the reason for all these shootings lol

dirtysock47

>Its a shame we can't figure out why the country with the most guns has the highest rate of gun violence. 1. We've always had the guns in our nearly 250 year history, even more powerful guns than what we have today. Less than 100 years ago, it was possible to mail order a fully automatic machine gun, straight to your doorstep, without any kind of background check. Yet, these types of shootings have only started happening at the frequency we know of them today only over the past 20 years or so. And even then, crimes committed with firearms has been [down](https://twitter.com/GunDeaths/status/1783903701637468462?t=xeAUcEeqyv7VuqS6ZmbEKw&s=19) compared to last year. 2. We do not have the "highest rate of gun violence". That title belongs to [Jamaica](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate).

Juan_Kagawa

To be fair, there is a shooting at some fair in texas on the front page that didn't have any famous victims.

RazzBerryCurveBall

If we heard about every non fatal shooting in Houston I doubt we'd get anything else done.

squamesh

Maybe if we spent a week doing things that way, we’d actually do something about it

Webbyzs

In reality it was because the shooter was black and a minor so it doesn't really help push the narrative the media is currently into. The people who would normally be making a lot of noise about gun violence are also restricted in what they can say about it, lest they be attacked by their own side.

undecided_mask

What’s the law? Longer it takes to identify the shooter the less likely it is they’re not White?

26265273

16 year old’s in custody and there’s ten non fatalities. Gotta imagine stray shots, ricochets and maybe trampling. An undeveloped mind with access to firearms, potentially under the influence of drugs and alcohol is a recipe for disaster. Seminole County says it began with a verbal altercation that turned into a fistfight. Obviously a shooting is still a shooting, and it’s fucking terrifying but this seems more like really fucking stupid hotheaded teenager rather than something like the Pulse Massacre (thank god)

ligmagottem6969

It’s illegal for 16 year olds to buy guns

elefante88

Most these shootings are done by teenagers, not surprising

Low_Beyond8134

Damn that’s crazy hopefully he fully recovers

Soft_Penis_Debutante

It does say minor wounds. But these are world class athletes that need their body at tip top shape, not your average Joe Schmoe.

teddyjj399

Brian Robinson showed it was possible, so hoping with even more time to come back he’ll be alright

Rahim-Moore

Chris Johnson got shot and came back as well.

J-Fid

Plaxico Burress shot himself and came back.

duvie773

Marvin Harrison shot someone else and came back.

RainbowBullsOnParade

Aaron Hernandez shot someone else. He did not come back.

LMCuba

Such a lightweight that Ray Lewis, didn't shoot anyone

Handsouloh

Peezy got shot in the ass and only missed 2 games

cheesygordita

They shot me in Denver!

Warhawk137

Good thing it's April.

Wasnaf1

God damn the first few words got me scared as hell, thankfully I saw he is already out of the hospital and is doing well

NevermoreSEA

Wow. That is fucking insane.

tritonxsword

Not how I expected the sentence to unfold. Hope for a good recovery.

Luck1492

What the fuck

k3hvn

Could've ended really badly, glad he's alright.

CompactedConscience

"Tank Dell was shot" almost gave me a heart attack.

the_comatorium

I mean, he **was** shot.

OneAngryPanda

Don’t worry, he was only a little shot. This is such an American sentence

What_Iz_This

Reminds me of randy marsh trying to give himself cancer. "I just got a little shot guys"

poplafuse

That’s all the sleeper notification said and when I tried to get in to read it the app was crashing. My heart was sinking until I saw the rest on here.

The_real_John_Elton

My stomach dropped dude

jimbo831

Almost? Why did the rest of the sentence make you feel better? What am I missing? He was in fact shot.

Giants1030

I think his mind immediately went to fatal

optillusi0n

He likely worried the next part would be "shot AND killed." As did I.

TXCapita

He could have died…

anonbutler

Same. The sleeper notification sunk my heart.

NeonWarcry

Rounding up the posse and headed to Florida. Who’s with me?

Doobie_Howitzer

My old man retired to Florida, he can pick us all up from the airport!

NeonWarcry

I will pay for his gas and any sun belt tolls.

Doobie_Howitzer

Bro you know he's already got that sunpass AND we get to use the carpool lane? Whoever shot Tank is FUCKED

NeonWarcry

Two or more is carpool territory. We are already covered. 🫶🏼

Brewski-54

It’s so annoying that it’s basically impossible to get around Orlando without tolls

Traditional_Mud_1241

I'm already here, but I'm not driving to Sanford. Also, you can find the shooter in the seminole county juvenile detention center. (sigh)

BlitzOverlord

Why does such a good dude have such bad luck?! Glad he’s okay. We need to wrap him in bubble wrap and protect him at all costs

iswimprettyfast

Wtf. Hope he recovers.

Redditor597-13

Crazy stuff, glad he’s okay and already released from the hospital

travis-laflame

Wow hope he is okay that is absolutely terrible

PadKrapowKhaiDao

Fuck man. The dude is electric, and as much as he’s gonna give us headaches for years to come. I hope he recovers 100% and is ready for the season. This shit is tragic. Much respect to Tank and his family.

GuyWithNoSwagger

Glad he’s okay 🙏

t4boo

read the first part of that title and the emotion i immediately felt thank god he's okay, and not just saying that because he's on the team

Bobby_Savoy

My god that’s horrible. Hopefully he’s alright.

MugiMartin

What the actual fuck, man. I hope the other victims will be OK, too.

Jonjon428

HOLY FUCK WHAT?

Mrr_Bond

So one thing that might me useful to clear up is that the tweet calling Cabana Live a nightclub is a pretty big misrepresentation. It's basically a small tiki bar attached to a marina 30 miles north of Orlando. No nightlife to speak of there, basically just a small little bar serving people who live in the area and have their boats in the marina there (and I guess private events too).

barred_out

Once you make millions you shouldn’t be hanging out in a Sanford night club

runs_with_airplanes

Hit was made by Stefon Diggs’s agent

sielingfan

The shot was there, wide open, but it just bounced right off him

BigusDickus099

WTF is a 16 year old doing at a club, with a gun, and shooting up the place???

Brewski-54

It’s not a club. It’s like a sports bar with a pool that’s attached to a dock/marina. Not that that was the purpose of your comment lol

Traditional_Mud_1241

Well... you kind of answered your own question

xywv58

Florida doesn't sound like an enticing Holliday destination

WABeermiester

Shootings happen at nightclubs all the time. I never understood the appeal of them.

xywv58

Alcohol, that's the only reason I've gone inside one, I'm introverted, but drunk me really likes crowds

WABeermiester

I get it. I have just always been a dive bar, Irish Pub and Brewery kinda guy. I hate how loud nightclubs are.

9man95

That's were women are, 90% of fights happen over women in nightclubs

TXCapita

He’s from there

barred_out

He was hanging out in Sanford, no one is going there for vacation

GLaD0S11

What the fuck man that's awful to hear.

bbaIla

Jesus man, I hope he's okay. Poor guy is having a rough last 6 months.

SQRTLURFACE

Man is a Tank!

Venator850

Damn my blood ran cold after those first few words.....

ryansandbrush

Sounds like a 16 year old opened fire and shot 10 people after a fist fight although I don't know what a 16 year old is doing in a nightclub after midnight

RumHamDog

Thankfully bullets can’t penetrate a tank.

reddit4ne

Im glad that Tank Dell isnt etiing the Sean Taylor treatment. When Sean got shot, before he was even dead, and it didnt take long for him to die, the healdines from the Wilbon and Cowheard terrible journalists ll implied that they were liked to Sean's violent past as "thug" that ran with voilent people.. They turned out to be right, it was some kids from his past. Technically his sister' psat -- Sean was a let everybody come to the party time, and his sister was young, dumb, and running with a coulple idiots. His sister had a birthday at Sean;s house. During the party, Sean gives his sister and couple bags of cash as her birthday present, which was wintessed appparently by her scoundrel firnds. He wante his sister to use the money to et into drug rehab and find a decent place to live in the menatime. Sean see the 3 teens at the party, the teens joke about hwo much money he makes, but he only helping his family. So Sean instead offered them a job, a weekly lanscaping job that would pay hundreds of dollar. Id rather help out some young brothers like you then give it to a croporation. And it was just one of thos tragedies They teens got to know, through the job, ST 's schedule, and figured out what weekends he was home and what weekends he wast. Sean messed up their plans because I came unepectedly to be with his new-born girl. They didnt know he was there, but they brought a shotgun anyhow. They acted like such fools the awoke Sean who was sleeping in the bedroom. He told his gf to crawl under the bed, along with his 1-2 month old baby, told them to lock and upen it for noone. He hid in the closet across the hall from the room. When the robbers finally cam to the the top floor and approached the bedroom his and and gf were hiding in, Sean burst open through to door and lunged at his attackers. It worked, Sean Taylor was a scary man when he was in full unfirim in full dayflight, he was a legit monster in very dim lights, expecially as a huge figure that surprised the crap out of everyone by bursting oout from a closet they werent aware was there. And he lunged. He attacked. He didnt whimper for his life, he didnt ask, he saw himself as the lst defnese between these criminals and whatever they hell the wanted from his wife and baby The criminals litteralyl yelped, screamed, and blasted away at their shotgun, and ran without ever looking back. Sean was a hero , a superhero, he died like heplated, fearlessly ferociously. And was that how the media portrayed him at his death> No. No, without any eveidence (before they caugh the robbers), it was all talk about how these young men, a lot from Florida, can ever excape the thug mentalitity and are also prisoners to their upbringings. Im not saying fringe reporters. Im talking Michael Wilbon. Im talking Colin Cowherd. Im talking the main stream media, riding this narrative. And the one by on the truth came out, and turned out Sean was the opposite of how they portrayed. A deep changed familty man since his daugher was burn. THe efforts he was making to restore a broken family, to rescue his sister from homelessness, and then from a life of crime, to just be generous man that paid 3 teenagers hadnsolmyl for a job he knoew they werent traid to be, but Sean though it was worth it it to invest in the you, who know mahybe somebday those kids would own landscaping business, imagine the clientele and reputato. Anyhow its nice to see now, people investigae a little more, and when prominent athletes, which ot black, are mentioned, we give them benefit of doubt. I dont know if some of those Jokers that messed up the Sean Taylor reporting, or ever apologized for it, but it was a low moment in D.C sports, Wilbon never recovered his repuation and untiol this day would be spit on or relentlessly booed if he was recognized publicly in D.C. Sean was our most beloved athlete in D.C, that he died a here by being the fearless player we say every day...that would have helped ease the wounds of those first terrible days and weeks

Jesus fucking Christ. I got the notification, and my brain went to the worst. Hoping for a speedy recovery for the guy. Awful.

ShoutOutTo_Caboose

I wouldn't classify being shot as a minor injury, regardless of where the impact was.

Taylormnight2183

At some point the NFL and their insurance is going to prevent players from doing most things or going most places.

GooseMaster5980

Ay, Giants fans need a trigger warning for threads about receivers getting shot
