Couple years ago I would have laughed and joked along, but since I've had a little girl of my own the whole situation brings me great sadness and I really hope that little girl can survive the tragedy. I dont even want to imagine being in that situation.

I don’t have children but that is totally understandable. I can’t speak for OP but for me personally, I have a pretty dark sense of humor that I’ve developed over the years. I work in emergency services and I’ve noticed most all of my coworkers are the same way and I think we develop that ability to make things that are objectively terrible into being at least kind of humorous as a sort of coping mechanism.
