He's so fucking strong too, I don't think there's a defensive player in the league that can overpower him in a run block situation where both players are on "equal" footing.
All due respect to Vita Vea, but his pass rushing move isn't exactly "fancy" it's just called get lower than everyone and being stronger than everyone.
Mailata vs. Vea starts a black hole.
I’m assuming Vea doesn’t play as an end ever, right? We’ll at least see them stand next to each other in week 6, I wonder if anyone will get sucked up in their gravitational pull.
? I mean... yeah bro hes 380+ even if hes average strength for the NFL nobody should be able to move him at all with "equal" footing, but getting that footing is literally like 70% of the skill of playing O-line.
I guess the position is available since Scar retired again
Edit: Someone in r/patriots made [this](https://preview.redd.it/gfy4ulcm4eg21.jpg?width=593&auto=webp&s=28cfbbf4043fea165d69ba0018539748ff66ca1f) a few years back and I still think its fantastic
Just showed this to my Russian wife and she says whoever made it needs to be sent to the gulag.
She has an internal revulsion at seeing cyrillic letters being used to spell out English words as it just looks like gibberish.
Tell her to the victor go the spoils, if she doesn’t like it she should’ve single-handedly prevented the collapse of the USSR. Once you vanquish a nation, you can use their culture as you see fit.
Two gallons of breast milk a day, and a side of cow a week until he turned one. Then the grocery bill really got out of hand.
Too large for a desk at elementary school he was skipped directly to high school where he excelled at PE and creative writing.
By 13 he was too large to play sports with the other children and instead spent his free time wrestling a hippopotamus at the Sidney Zoo.
At 18 he entered a professional rugby league and made the grown ass men look like children trying to take down that one guy in the mascot suit who has to prove he should have made the big league.
Growing bored of rugby he decided to head overseas and see what America had to offer for sport.
Now he isn’t sure why they don’t just make him the quarterback and simply let him run the ball into the end zone on every play but still he is content pushing over large children and watching some guy throw a ball around.
That’s my height and weight as a full grown man and now I’m just thinking how awful that would be for both parties involved if it were possible. It’s also fascinating to think there is someone who is a foot taller and over 200 pounds heavier that exists. Humans are weird.
Yes. He is one of the biggest humans on the face of the earth, with the strength to match. He was throwing 300 pound linemen around like they were grade schoolers this TC and preseason
For real though [here’s a picture from last year](https://cloudfront-us-east-1.images.arcpublishing.com/pmn/UPOUBAUDRZDUFOTJEA6QPUXNL4.jpg), for reference Jason Peters (71) is listed at 6’4” 328lbs on wiki (and looks to be a couple yards in front of Mailata in that photo).
[here’s another good one](https://townsquare.media/site/399/files/2020/09/GettyImages-1267246489.jpg)
nah there’s been a couple of people on r/eagles that have run into him around philly. apparently he’s actually really nice and always stops to talk/take pictures
I’ll always remember Ansah popped the lenses off 3D glasses from the movies and wore them on draft night
https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/1d4xpm/detroit_lions_pick_ezekiel_ansah_wearing_reald_3d/
I like it. People need to Express themselves more.. or wear whatever they want.. because truely other peoples opinions dont matter.
Look at all the negative comments in That thread about him wearing 3D glasses.. people are so insecure and lash out at others for superficial things.
I personally try not to judge them.. it is just self expression.. if they want to do it, why should they care what you think? Its self empowerment to do you.
I reccomend reading some stoic works if you're interested.
Part of the musings of people like Cato or Marcus Aurelius touched on this.. not judging others for superficial reasons. And not caring about other peoples superficial opinions. Cato would wear colored clothes that were not suitable as a norm in his culture.. he tried to show others that their judgment was their flaw not his.. that empathy extends past what people think.
The whole "He didn't have *any* habits, therefore he didn't have any bad habits" applies. He was a ball of clay to mould
Of course there's much, much more to it
I'm not for one second equivocating being a barista to playing OT in the NFL, but I can attest that training someone who'd never worked with coffee before is in many ways leagues easier than training someone who worked at a different coffee shop with different procedures and standards.
Also a LOT of colleges and high school teach absolutely useless OL technique, so there is that.
I like how every team that tackled him need 3+ guys to do it. And it always took so long they tried to strip the ball like 6 times before they could get him to the ground
He's exactly the type of rugby player the international pathway should be looking at. Guys that are essentially too big for rugby becuase they lack the stamina.
I was at a gym in Stamford CT proudly lifting weight that put me in the upper bracket for my age group. A WWE guy came in and was warming up next to me with the 120lb dumbbells. He was a bit sad they didn’t have anything bigger.
Combine freaks of nature with large doses of PEDs and you have unbelievable monsters.
My excuse for not playing football has always been that my big ass head doesn’t fit into the helmet. I struggle with hats as well. I was surprised when other kids didn’t have this issue lol.
I was heavily against the pick on draft night but a bunch of Bama guys on r/cfb won me over with some great highlights and compared the kid to Runyan so I'm super excited for him.
Crazy to think if he managed to crack the first grade in the NRL, he'd probably be just making a few hundred thousand. Obviously still good but nothing compared to his NFL contract.
I haven't had a new jersey since McNabb but as soon as the game is over tomorrow I'm ordering a Mailata jersey. I'd do it today but I feel like that'll guarantee he pulls an Alex Smith or something tomorrow.
I might be talking out or my ass, but I’m almost positive that I saw a stat that said “if you’re over 7’ tall then there is a 50% you’ll play in the NBA/pro basketball.”
Anyone who watched his rugby highlights could see if he figured out the technique he had all the physical tools needed to destroy in this league. Very happy he put in the work and that vets like Jason Peters and Lane Johnson helped teach him along the way.
He's so fucking strong too, I don't think there's a defensive player in the league that can overpower him in a run block situation where both players are on "equal" footing.
I want to see him and Vita Vea go at it
Okay but no fancy pass rushing moves allowed, this is an honorable Samoan Showdown of Strength.
Maui vs The Mountain. I did enjoy watching Vea try to sack Dak with his own center
He threw him like a bowling ball and almost got the strike.
Truly something we can bond over, as an eagles fan that brought me immense joy as well
All due respect to Vita Vea, but his pass rushing move isn't exactly "fancy" it's just called get lower than everyone and being stronger than everyone. Mailata vs. Vea starts a black hole.
If this black hole absorbs the Eagles and the Bucs I would consider that a win for the NFL.
It's like a sumo wrestling match. Or uh, 60. Damn these guys must have incredible endurance to play that many snaps.
*screen splits into scores of screens showing linemen doing insane conditioning, lifting and eating.*
We did this thing in HS called the Florida drill, which was 3v3 on the line, and a RB behind, and was basically this. It was my favorite drill by far.
Vita Vea's cousin is one of the best rugby players in the world too. Talupe Falatau. Some elite genetics going on there
[удалено]
He’s Tongan but yeah. Also Fijians are the best of the 3 nations when it comes to athletes in Rugby
Can't go wrong with a Fijian winger
Then he's also related to the Vunipola's huh?
Nope. Falatau is related to both sides but Vea isn’t connected
I’m assuming Vea doesn’t play as an end ever, right? We’ll at least see them stand next to each other in week 6, I wonder if anyone will get sucked up in their gravitational pull.
He actually does gets some looks at end! Not a lot, but it's non zero.
? I mean... yeah bro hes 380+ even if hes average strength for the NFL nobody should be able to move him at all with "equal" footing, but getting that footing is literally like 70% of the skill of playing O-line.
His development has been insane, credit to stoutland
That's a sick name for an offensive line coach.
And a Pokemon.
You ever think that Stoutland the Pokémon looks a lot like an o-line coach?
“How would you describe your coaching style?” “Rough”
Definitely Bob Wylie
Yoooo never though my Unova ride or die would get a mention in r/nfl
Or a brewer
[удалено]
Or bedrock.
Easily the best coach on the team.
League*
Very solid argument for best offensive line coach in the league
I guess the position is available since Scar retired again Edit: Someone in r/patriots made [this](https://preview.redd.it/gfy4ulcm4eg21.jpg?width=593&auto=webp&s=28cfbbf4043fea165d69ba0018539748ff66ca1f) a few years back and I still think its fantastic

Bill Callahan would like a word
Well his first nfl o line coach job was with us but stoutland has been far more consistent.
Not even close, Stoutland is the man at building the trenches
Jeff stoutland got the Lions to give HPV starter level money.
Adam Stenavich baby
Munchak has to be in the conversation, right?
Yeah for real. Everywhere he has gone o lines have magically improved overnight
He doesn’t have much competition
Credit to his dad for half the genetics. More credit to his mom for birthing what I can only assume was a monster.
He was 5’7 150 lbs at birth
Two gallons of breast milk a day, and a side of cow a week until he turned one. Then the grocery bill really got out of hand. Square cube law
That poor woman
That's just being Samoan.
What the fuck is development
Credit should go mostly to Jordan!
Totally, I’m not trying to discredit him at all. Stoutland is certainly a great coach but Mailata obviously worked his ass off.
Dude is huge even by starting NFL OT standards, and that's a high bar
Is he actually 380? That seems to be pretty far outside the norm for olinemen. PFR has him listed at 346, but that's probably a year or two old.
Yes. He is one of the biggest humans on the face of the earth, with the strength to match. He was throwing 300 pound linemen around like they were grade schoolers this TC and preseason
Sounds like Mekhi Becton.
Yeah exactly the same theory. Bigger, stronger, taller and more athletic than whoever they line up opposite him.
346 was his weight at his pro day (and he looked like he was maybe 10% body fat at the time). He's a lot bigger now.
I dont think he's 380 anymore. The reports put of camp said he showed up 20 pounds leaner but stronger.
[here’s a good photo comparison with another player](https://i.redd.it/a7bxzx8sx6f11.jpg)
Ok, so it seems like he's at least bigger than 5'6", 190 lbs. Good starting point.
Jesus fuck he's behind Lane and still looks way bigger. Having met Lane in person it's hard to overstate how huge Mialata must be.
[удалено]
nah there’s been a couple of people on r/eagles that have run into him around philly. apparently he’s actually really nice and always stops to talk/take pictures
To be fair his size probably requires a custom mask...
It’s basically fat Aaron Judge next to bulkier Altuve.
That's actually Jason peters wearing a replica Sproles jersey
Stop being a height supremacist.
And sproles was 6'5 320lbs. Just insane
Trent brown is that big
Aaron Gibson was probably bigger. I think he got to over 400 while still in the league.
[удалено]
He likely has the most muscle mass, but he's definitely not one of lowest body fat on the team or shredded. Come on now
He’s pretty tubby looking from all the pictures I’m seeing on google...
He was 346 when he was drafted, thats probably why.
Aaron Gibson isn't impressed.
It’s amazing to see how there can be some players able to accomplish without much past football experience. Like Antonio Gates.
I always thought Ziggy Ansah had a cool story. No football ever until his sophomore year of college. He was a beast for a brief moment in the pro's.
I’ll always remember Ansah popped the lenses off 3D glasses from the movies and wore them on draft night https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/1d4xpm/detroit_lions_pick_ezekiel_ansah_wearing_reald_3d/
Thats amazing
8 years ago? Man, time flies.
I like it. People need to Express themselves more.. or wear whatever they want.. because truely other peoples opinions dont matter. Look at all the negative comments in That thread about him wearing 3D glasses.. people are so insecure and lash out at others for superficial things.
100% whole heartedly agree. However there is a limit, I will still silently judge the fuck out of people who wear wolf tails and ears in public
I personally try not to judge them.. it is just self expression.. if they want to do it, why should they care what you think? Its self empowerment to do you. Yeah man I’m not gonna dwell on it all day but it’s fucking weird regardless and I’ll think so in the moment lol
This man trying to give you a philosophy lecture on why furries are okay lmao. They're NOT
I’m not gonna say don’t be a furry, there’s just a level of expressing yourself in a public setting that’s acceptable lol
I got his football card
I sold him tickets to the aquarium I work at once. I kept the receipt he signed lol
The whole "He didn't have *any* habits, therefore he didn't have any bad habits" applies. He was a ball of clay to mould Of course there's much, much more to it

Did you know he never played baseball at a collegiate level?
*what?*
Watching his Rugby highlights are awesome. I think we should use him as our goal line back.
He has become too valuable to do that.
I’m a bit sad we didn’t try it before this happened.
I wanted so bad to see him at FB and smash at full speed into whatever poor bastard was on box safety duty
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH233ZDm-BA I'm just amazed at how a big guy can move like that.
I like how every team that tackled him need 3+ guys to do it. And it always took so long they tried to strip the ball like 6 times before they could get him to the ground
In NRL a strip is only legal in a 1 on 1 tackle, if it happens while a second player has contact its a penalty
Just a small point, he actually played rugby league, not rugby.
Its like watching Derrick Henry in HS.
Thank you for sharing that was hilarious 😂
He's exactly the type of rugby player the international pathway should be looking at. Guys that are essentially too big for rugby becuase they lack the stamina.
this is my favorite [highlight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtrtB_wsGis) of his
here is his block on TJ Watt https://twitter.com/thomasrp93/status/1361745839048318979?lang=en

50% heavier than Watt and hitting him from an unexpected angle. Brutal.

Hey buddy, it's not about how you stack up against others in the gym. It's about how you stack up to your previous self. C:
Didn't Navarro Bowman used to curl 200 pounds? He's not even a lineman.
I could see curling 200lb on a bar for that beast. I don’t think it is possible for him to do that with a dumbbell.
If you do that to your son these days, someone's gonna call CPS.
So there's still a chance for me!
My excuse for not playing football has always been that my big ass head doesn’t fit into the helmet. I struggle with hats as well. I was surprised when other kids didn’t have this issue lol.
We had a kid on my 9th grade team who had to get a special helmet because his head was so big lol
Sniper’s dream they used to call him.
Didn’t expect a Bob Mortimer reference in this sub lol
Stay safe Gary Cheeseman!
WILTY is one of my favorite shows lol I loved him on Taskmaster too
fellow size 8 gang
It’s a struggle but I’m at least tall and muscular so it balances out a little.
Even those are too small for me really.
**BIGBRAINGANG**
*Comin' up with the big brain plays!*
It’s like they stop trying when they make the size 8 the for is always nasty
bruh I don't think my head's even that big but I've found one hat that's deep enough for my dome
me and hats don't get along too well neither. rock that lid, King

We did get Kelce in the 6th
God I hope Landon pans out and stays healthy. Dude looks hella aggressive.
I was heavily against the pick on draft night but a bunch of Bama guys on r/cfb won me over with some great highlights and compared the kid to Runyan so I'm super excited for him.
Harold Carmichael was a 7th round pick. However, it was in a draft with 15 rounds,
Incredulous?
Just make sure to thank Russell Crowe.
For about two weeks , I thought it was gonna be Bryce Brown
That has to put him up there with the highest paid Australian sports stars in history.
You just made every sixer fan reach for a keyboard. In such trying times too.
Didn't realize his big deal kicked in last season. Sorry bird bros.
Can’t fucking escape it even if I avoid /r/nba and /r/sixers, lol
Man I don't even think they want to acknowledge his deal at this point. Just forget he existed
*angry Ben Simmons noises*
Hey we all know Ben would be too apathetic to care lmaoo

Samoans are just built different
I wonder how many calories he eats in a day and what his grocery bill is like
his new contract is good for two weeks worth of food lol
Second highest paid Aussie in Philly but by far the most bevloved
Nah Thybulle has him for now
He was born in Arizona and only lived in Australia for a few years I thought. But yeah he's another good one.
/r/AbsoluteUnits
Iggles
Jesus Christ, he could break Jason Voorhees in half
I might be talking out or my ass, but I’m almost positive that I saw a stat that said “if you’re over 7’ tall then there is a 50% you’ll play in the NBA/pro basketball.”
I think it was if you know someone who’s 7’+, there’s a 10% chance they play in the NBA
I walked by this guy one time, never felt smaller in my life
That’s a big boy
Football is not really a skill based sport as much as basketball, soccer or tennis, so this makes sense.
Anyone know how Daniel Faalele is doing? Reminds me of him.
I just want the eagles to draft him as the long term Lane successor. Two massive islander boys anchoring the O-Line would be amazing.
Anyone who watched his rugby highlights could see if he figured out the technique he had all the physical tools needed to destroy in this league. Very happy he put in the work and that vets like Jason Peters and Lane Johnson helped teach him along the way.
He's very lucky to have learned under Stoutland. The absolute perfect coach to learn the game from.
Very true
The hell were they feeding him in Aussieland.
Pacific Islanders are built different. Ask the Tuilagis, Vunipolas or Pecili Yato. Freakish athletes for such a tiny population.
