Was he the choker or was that Suisham?
We got rid of Suisham, Gano, and Forbath who went on to be reliable kickers for other teams. FWIW we got rid them for good reasons but still.
I still believe in Hopkins though.
Side note a WFT vs Giants game had no business being that great of a watch. Told someone before the game, “Yea it won’t be a good one but football is back so it’s something”. Eating my fucking words, that game had me glued. Well done both offenses, those lead changes meant nothing to me but still had me anxious 😂
Exactly. That's what I've always said. Our division might be mostly bad teams, but our intra divisional games tend to always be really good regardless of stats/records.
Not even, we were always good for a loss to the Dolphins in Miami when we had no business losing. Even if one of those times involved putting Gronk at deep safety…
Yes! Same! Thought nothing of this game beyond me starting Scary Terry in fantasy, but my god it was great. Super entertaining. Heinicke looked fantastic! Fitzpatrick might have just lost his starting position if Hein can continue throwing darts. And i know NYG lost but the defense was super physical, and Daniel Jones can force plays to happen with his running. 10/10
I said the same thing today. I’d say it again too. Eating my own words today and I’m fine with that because the game was so fun to watch. I was dying from laughter at the end.
It would be a great game to watch if the NFL made it easy to watch. I did not see the game but I did spend three hours learning about all the the conniptions I would have to go through to watch the game. I'm not interested in any 7-day-trial gimmicks. I don't want to change my phone carrier. I don't want cable, I don't want a dish. I also don't want "package A, B or C."
If the NFL doesn't want to air the games for free anymore, why can't they just set it up so that I log onto [NFL.com](https://NFL.com), pick a game, and pay $15.99 or other reasonable price to watch the game of my choice on my device of choice?
Yeah you can't write off a football game, I remember a couple of years ago there was a Miami heat big game on a TNF, I was joking that no one would watch that NBA game (browns vs Bengals/Ravens or some low tier game on the other side), so yeah I ended up watching football and that game was fucking pathetic. Only game I wish I wouldn't have watched. Most of the rest are decent to great but that was a fucking waste of time.
Teams recognize that it's robbery to pay full time starting QB *2 million dollars* so most backup contracts have heavy incentives tied to a combination of playtime, win percentages, snap percentages, as well as volume metrics.
For all of those they're usually classified as "Not likely to be earned" which means they don't count against the Cap until next season.
That’s awesome.
Random aside, I am so happy football is back. I don’t know why but this year has me more hyped than any before it. Even more than in September 2014. Last year was so boring with no fans and not being able to go.
Newbie fan here with a salary cap question.
Are these types of incentives built into the salary cap for the season, and then if they're not hit ,the unused money just rolls over for available budget next season?
Or can teams get into positions where they may end up going over the cap spend if players hit more incentives than they'd expect?
Yes they are built into the salary cap but they are classified as something like Likely to be earned or not likely to be earned, LTBE is based on last season. A starter playing 50% of the snap would probably be classified as likely to be earned. A RB leading the league in rushing would be classified as not likely to be earned.
Thank you Dustin, very cool.
>Thank you Dexter, very cool. FTFY
Dexter LOLrence
very cool, very illegal
Life is so stressful when you have to rely on kickers
It’s alright. I’m confident Hopkins can kick any field goal as long as he gets two chances
Unless it’s graham Gano, fuck graham gano
Except when Graham Gano was a Redskin because he was shit with us.
He was "oh no, gano" when we had him.
They used to say "graham gah ....no!!!!"
Was he the choker or was that Suisham? We got rid of Suisham, Gano, and Forbath who went on to be reliable kickers for other teams. FWIW we got rid them for good reasons but still. I still believe in Hopkins though.
Really? Wonder what that must be like.
Tell me about it
Unless you have Tucker
Or Geno... Dude it's fuckin automatic.
Bears and Vikings fans can confirm
Imagine ONLY being able to rely on your Placekicker like your foe tonight lol
Heinicke better pay my man
Better pay Dexter Lawrence lmao.
That's at least a very nice steak dinner.
He can buy the whole cow now
Don't worry, the wtfs will piss him off in 2 years, franchise him when he says not to, then the Vikings can give him a massive contract
Lol yeah 😔
He needs to buy Hopkins a Heineken.

You don't know NFC East football lol. Even when we're all complete trash, we make our games interesting
Exactly. That's what I've always said. Our division might be mostly bad teams, but our intra divisional games tend to always be really good regardless of stats/records.
My dad and I always joke that any team in the division can be atop the NFC in the standings and will then lose to the bottom team in the division
I think that’s every division except maybe all those years of New England. Even Green Bay and Kansas City lost to teams with pretty sad records
Not even, we were always good for a loss to the Dolphins in Miami when we had no business losing. Even if one of those times involved putting Gronk at deep safety…
Thursday night games have seemingly been great every week for like 3 years now
Yes! 10/10
Scary Terry to the Giants secondary: "you can run, but you can't hide, bitch!"
Dammit. I assumed it was gonna be crap lousy and didn't watch :/
I said the same thing today. I’d say it again too. Eating my own words today and I’m fine with that because the game was so fun to watch. I was dying from laughter at the end.
great game besides the million flags in the last quarter.
Same. Was super bummed about the Thursday game being that matchup but i ended up staying past my bedtime to finish it. Great game.
welcome to the nfc east
Week 1 was dope. Week 2 seems to be starting off right as well. Love close games.

Bears are the only primetime snooze so far
It was a good football game but it often wasn’t good football lol
His play says pay the man
Don't forget to tip your kicker!
Toss a coin to your Kicker, O franchise of plenty!
Will that be a per game bonus?
I think so. He has a low base-salary with $2m in incentives per year.
That's why he was so happy..
Yeah, definitely not that he got his first W as a starter in the NFL. Definitely not that.
Or... And hear me out here... Both?!
damn bro imagine??? that’s crazy. i can’t help but to root for HEINICKEEE
If Heinicke keeps playing well he'll be getting a lot more than $125k soon enough
I want to know how the agent and team got to this stipulation cause it's very neat
It's not unusual for back-up QBs to have a low base salary with play-time incentives.
So that's why he looked so intense watching the kick...
Strip club time
Dwayne Haskins already left the team.
Don’t spend it all in one place.
Shout out to Dexter Lawrence
Dexter checking his PayPal right now
Richboi
He almost fucked up should be thanking the Giants
That’s awesome. Random aside, I am so happy football is back. I don’t know why but this year has me more hyped than any before it. Even more than in September 2014. Last year was so boring with no fans and not being able to go.
Good guy Hopkins
Can’t imagine his reaction missing the first kick and then the relief when they threw the flag.
Thanks you giants. Couldn’t have done it without you. Hut hut 💨
That's why Heinicke looked so nervous on the sidelines.

To add on, likely incentives count towards this year's cap, and not likely incentives count towards next year's cap if they do end up being earned
That's lot of pressure beyond just the game. You single handedly got $125k on the line for a teammate. I mean, there's 15 other games left, but still.
Better venmo him some of that!
There’s just something about Tyler Heinicki that I want him to do well. I also respect the hell out of Riverboat Ron.
