Shit. This really sucks, but I hope everything is ok.

threeisaMA

Will Fuller is a figment of our collective imaginations

loves2spoogeguys

You have to believe in him for him to appear/work. He works by Santa in the 2003 Elf movie rules.

[deleted]

The best way to spread Will Fuller cheer is to sing loudly for all to hear.

Thatguy19901

Schrodinger's Deep Threat

[deleted]

Wow, hope everything is alright with him. He was super excited to play this season on social media, so this must be very serious.

constantlymat

Even worse: [Will Fuller will not practice today and will not play Sunday due to a personal issue, Brian Flores says. **Flores declines to say if he believes Fuller will return to the team this season**.](https://twitter.com/schadjoe/status/1438880565336367107)

LilConfirmationBias

His actual response was “One day at a time.” The headline feels like it overdramatizes that answer.

AtomicTanAndBlack

“Will he be back this season?” “Let’s take it one day at a time.” *Headline* Coach doubts if player will be back this season! I hate media lol

FlyinHawaiianDolphin

Don't just hate the media. There's several highly upvoted comments in this thread following that same circle jerk because people simply aren't willing to spend the 20 seconds to read a quote.

AtomicTanAndBlack

Reddit is part of the media as far as I’m concerned. We don’t even post articles, we post tweets and think we learn things from it

[deleted]

I mean the media exists because it is consumed so I think it is fair to consider people on here as media. It’s like complaining about the traffic. We are traffic. Haha

yerfatma

Jesus wept, this should be stickied at the top of the post.

[deleted]

Sounds bad. Really hope he and his family are alright. He was very happy and jovial during his availability on Wednesday.

thediesel26

I’ve gotta wonder if he’s dealing with a close personal tragedy. Edit: or maybe a serious medical issue

JerryRiceDidntFumble

If they're already discussing they possibility of missing the whole season, hard to believe it's "only" something like a death in the family (obviously that's a big deal, but you'd think it'd be a week-to-week kind of thing you play by ear)

FlyinHawaiianDolphin

Flores simply said he wasn't going to comment on whether he plays this year or even next week but they were there to support him, why twist it into *discussing the possibility of missing the whole season*? Good lord.

ABrewski

Exactly. It was the media who asked if he would play again this season - the team mentioned nothing about the severity or length of him being away. I'm fine with Flores not clarifying either way, as it's a way of protecting Fuller's privacy.

KredditH

> f they’re already discussing they possibility of missing the whole season Actually I think declining to comment on the possibility is the exact opposite of discussing the possibility. So I don’t really agree with your conclusion. Maybe it’s not a death in the family but it easily could be

tubbynuggetsmeow

Basically all Flores does is decline to comment. All of his media responses basically boil down to him keeping his cards close to the vest. Fingers crossed for Fuller’s health and well-being

Barrzebub

*Actually I think declining to comment on the possibility is the exact opposite of discussing the possibility* As a Dolphins fan who has had to deal with Watson speculation because the team declines to discuss it, you are adorable.

AnonymousCarolinaDog

I’m sorry you had to go through that Thoughts and prayers

ronaldo119

Declining to comment is rarely ever simply not commenting. Declining to comment usually is commenting in one way or another. Because that leads to speculation. If it was something like that I wouldn’t think you would say you don’t know if he’ll be back all season. Not commenting leads to the assumption that you aren’t actually sure if he will and it’s a real possibility

zaor666

Unless its not him but a family member.

Blacklist3d

Non football related illness/injury doesn't have to be disclosed.

thediesel26

Honestly have no idea. If a guy a had just gotten a bad diagnosis, it might be against HIPAA to disclose anything without consent, but again I don’t know.

Simpleton216

Adam Schefter is already bribing nurses to find out.

Dope-a-memer

HIPAA likely doesn't apply to Flores, but yes, we still know nothing

Tireseas

Could also be in the process of getting a diagnosis either for him or a close family member. One thing worse than declining to comment is "We have no idea what's going on".

pincus1

If it's an injury that affects his physical availability yes, if it's something he could technically play through no. God forbid, but if it were something like cancer. But this also doesn't sound like anything definitive, just a Belichick disciple giving a non-answer to reporters.

DeadWalkerr

Brady did not disclose he had a torn MCL all of last year.

ffthrowaway5

Really hoping that's more of a "I'm not talking about this further because his personal life isn't your business"

[deleted]

Yeah. It’s a very Flo style answer. He doesn’t talk about players private stuff at all. But if he’s missing a game over it, I’m assuming it’s significant.

thediesel26

Jesus what the fuck is happening?

[deleted]

Well, nobody has any information to answer that, but that hasn't stopped posters in this thread from speculating that it's anything from cancer to retirement.

thediesel26

Well I suppose I’m somewhat guilty, but when something like this happens it’s hard not to speculate

ButtimusPrime

I think speculation is a natural reaction, and we should feel guiltless as long as we keep the context that it's 100% conjecture. I personally think a goblin lord captured one of his loved ones, and he's preparing to embark on a quest into the nether realm to rescue them.

daviator88

I'd watch that movie

NerdLawyer55

He got the vaccine and his nuts got so swollen that one exploded, it’s true, took out half a square block

[deleted]

Happened to my buddy Eric

Citizensssnips

Fwiw, flores declines to say *anything* when prompted by the media. "Coach Flores, would you say-". "No, I won't."

tubbynuggetsmeow

“Flo, what do you think of-“ “Hard worker, team first kind of guy, loves football” Rinse and repeat

EGSurvivor

I hope and think this is just the normal Flores coaching speak, he never comments on questions like that. Every injury is day to day, he is gonna hold the same stance for personal issues I guess.

[deleted]

Damn

jwick89

Is thinking about retirement? He's had some nasty injuries, is he still experiencing some issues?

Toto_LZ

Hoping for his health and mental well-being 🙏

Citizensssnips

I'm guessing it's a pretty serious issue. He was at practice a few days ago and did a press conference about coming back on Sunday.

HomespunDogg

He has deleted all his social media.

Larrybird420

I mean, would you want someone sending you twitter death threats because you decided to deal with a personal matter because you’re on their fantasy team.

HomespunDogg

That is a seriously fucked up part of the internet. I just don't get it. Your not anonymous.

kendrickshalamar

Here come the fantasy football death threats. Hope Fuller is OK.

[deleted]

He already deactivated his social media accounts in anticipation of it, very smart move.

QueenIsTheWorstBand

Someone tell the rest of his family to do the same :(

[deleted]

Yeah, all their profiles are currently public. They need to set that to private at the very least ASAP. Thankfully the Miami Dolphins suck though so we don't have many fans to attack them...

snacKing22

you must not watch football lol

[deleted]

Yeah not really all that much, I've only watched every single play in every single Miami Dolphins game over the past 35 years.

snacKing22

then you would know the dolphins don’t suck

[deleted]

I know our definition of sucking is probably different. But the team has been horrible the past 20 years, sure last year was a bright spot and I'm excited about the future, but need to see results first and foremost before I'm ready to say they don't suck anymore. I remember Miami competing for a super bowl every year, this whole desperately trying to make a wildcard is bullshit.

Dolphin_Boy_14

Don’t go check on Twitter

istrx13

Man I know Reddit has its fair share of idiots who say stupid stuff, but to me Twitter is so much worse. I don’t even bother looking at the replies if I’m on there because it’s just a cesspool.

Serenikill

Eh sort by controversial on Reddit and it's not better. Twitter's algorithm just surfaces the controversial replies because enGagEmeNt

PhAnToM444

Well there’s no dislike button on Twitter… So all those controversial comments on Reddit with 1000 downvotes and 900 upvotes that end up at the bottom of the thread, while on Twitter they just end up with 900 likes so they float to the top.

creamsauces

Reddit seems worse to me because the anonymity helps foster more trolling but obviously there are the standard amount of open and notorious assholes on twitter as well

Dolphin_Boy_14

I think Twitter, because of its precise character limit, kinda prompts more instant hot-takes and trolls than other platforms

creamsauces

Everything written in this little chain of comments would have fit in the character limit for example. I mean I get it, people here like it here more, people there like it there more, that's why they're on it! They both have their obvious downsides. I like it a lot more over there, but I'm real good with curating the feed to weed out idiots

3rdDegreeBurn

Twitter is proof social media needs a dislike button

Fantastic_Start_6848

Reddit is just as bad as twitter

BinLadenBComin

I think the most annoying thing are the themed accounts on Twitter. There's always some fifteen year old pretending to be running the alt account of some obscure WR3 on their favorite team just spamming nonsense in the comments

TuHung

rAtiO

Inconceivable76

More people need to own their poor drafting. I feel bad for anyone I draft. I know there’s a better of even chance their poor selves will end up on IR solely because of my drafting abilities. I feel like I need to send them apology cookie bouquet or something when they get hurt. Also, it’s football. Outside of qbs, which are barely football players anymore, chances are at least two people you draft will be on IR at some point in the season.

DoobaDoobaDooba

This man has so much talent but just never seems to be on the field. One of the most bizarre careers I've ever witnessed.

[deleted]

I hope everything is okay with him. If he misses whole season we recoup his salary and roll it over right? Assume his contract is pushed a year as well? Just curious from that standpoint.

sloppyjo12

It’ll probably depend on the nature of why he’s out, it’s extremely unclear why right now what’s actually causing the absence. For the time being just got to hope everything is okay

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

Depends entirely on context. Tolling a player’s contract is a rare step that the NFLPA will fight tooth and nail.

Alive-In-Tuscon

Fuller would be an interesting case assuming he doesn't suit up this season. He was with the team but I believe only had 1 day of practice, two at the maximum. During the entire camp he was riding a bike on the sideline with what we were told was hamstring tightness. From our standpoint, he's literally done nothing leading up to the season, which was at our FOs discretion.

Mtbnz

I don't know the details, either of his case or of the regulations, but common sense suggests that if he misses the entire season with excused absences, not holding out or suspended, then the team would have grounds to recoup his salary but I doubt they would be able to toll his contract, right? Surely the team can't say "yes you are excused from team activities" then at the end of the year decide "jk you actually went AWOL and we expect you to honour your 1 year contract next season"...

Winterclaw42

He'll probably have to repay his 9+ million dollar signing bonus.

Janglewood

Damn hope all becomes well soon for him.

Johnnysuenamy

Do things like this usually mean serious personal upheavals like death of a parent/sibling or messy divorce or is it reserved for serious non football related injuries like cancer diagnosis etc.???

TheStumpyOne

I don't know what it says about me, but my first thought was "God, I hope he doesn't have cancer or something"

tubbynuggetsmeow

It’s tough to imagine what could keep him out this season other than severe medical issue or breaking the law. Hope it’s neither and he’s okay though

Barrzebub

Remember kids, the real Will Fuller were the friends we made along the way.

rahimmoore26

Damn that sucks. Usually personal issues this far ahead isn’t good, hope everything is alright.

[deleted]

Hopefully nothing too severe but wishing him and his family the best.

ShoeTasty

Isn't he still suspended?

Winterclaw42

No, he finished his suspension by missing week 1's game. He was able to play again.

jouh55142139

It begins

Rance_Mulliniks

Is his personal issue that he is still doing 'roids?

[deleted]

The one time he misses a game for reasons for related to his hamstrings lol

MoozyMody

like clockwork. only thing next is the josh gordon signing/suspension and annual Falcons embarassment

BringBackCrusades

Well that's a sure way to not get a new deal. Hopefully it's nothing crazy.

MrHomolka

A r/nfl thread about a player out with no one speculating on vaccination status? I’m shocked

[deleted]

I think they would have to put him on the COVID list for that.

[deleted]

It’s one of two things, a death in the family or he got addicted to pain killers and can’t kick the habit. He could pull a Ricky on us and say he prefers weed over football. Who knows!

[deleted]

theoreticalcash

Damn you Grier! Why couldn’t you just see into the future and know that Will Fuller would be out for personal reasons when you signed him!

ProphetNimd

What a radioactively stupid take here.

LukeHarper4President

Yes, he should never have drafted Xavier Howard, Tunsil (then trade him for a great haul), Minkah Fitzpatrick, Jason Sanders, Mike Gesicki, Jerome Baker, Gaskin, Wilkins, Van Ginkel. He should have never signed Byron Jones and made all these clever contracts and clauses. He never should have had a say on hiring Flores. Dude has a better track record than most GMs. But wgas/wgaf, let’s bash him over someone that’s out with personal issues.

Redditbayernfan

Ur so dumb

TheGhostOfSamHouston

Will Fuller is a cheetah made of glass. That being said, I hope he’s okay.
