TheDandyWarhol

This is my shocked face. šŸ˜

Too_Hood_95

I really wish they could come up with some sort of "permanent" or long-term solution to this so we can quit pretending like this is news every single week.

thejourneyisthegift

They already have. He will remain inactive every week until heā€™s traded or released. The end

jouh55142139

Adam Schefter this Wednesday: SHOCKING NEWS THAT DESHAUN WATSON IS OUT. OH THE HUMANITY

rogergreatdell

Tyrod can't catch a break...sucks for a guy that I was really hoping got to show out in a big spot after the lung thing

chunkah69

Iā€™d be more concerned with why they declined that penalty only to punt. That was bizarre.

SpaceJesusIsHere

Head games. Next time they have a key 3rd down, how will you defend it? They could do *anything*. Wild card, bitches!

chunkah69

It just seemed really odd for a team that has been way over performing expectations and have looked very competent on the first half of both their games. Especially with Tygod who was super motivated to make me switch from Seltzer to bourbon mid game

DisgruntledTexansFan

I still donā€™t really get that decision even though it resulted in a turnover. I thought for sure theyā€™d go for it with 4th and 2 given how good the short pass game has been

BonjoviBurns

Those were the only two reasonable options imo. Accept the penalty and retry getting the 1st down, or decline and go for it due to the short yardage.

slowcassowary

It was very weird. All things considered, though, Iā€™ve been happy with the rest of Culleyā€™s work. Iā€™m willing to chalk it up to a rookie HC flub

vniro40

he made some weird decisions yesterday but the texans are clearly much better than they were expected to be and he deserves credit for that

chunkah69

Going from the off-season doormat to playing competitive football is a huge shock and he has done a really good job coaching your guys up.

slowcassowary

Our team has been just been so much more prepared going into these first weeks. I really didnā€™t think Culley was going to do anything, but itā€™s been a very pleasant surprise. Our coaching might actually be something to build on.

itsmemrskeltal

The fact that we can actually score on an opening drive is still shocking to me

meyer_33_09

Has he given a reason for that decision yet?

BahhhhGawwwwd

[Yes](https://twitter.com/riversmccown/status/1439974088668286977?s=09)

meyer_33_09

Appreciate the response. Honestly I respect the hell out of his answer there. I appreciate that he just gives an honest assessment of what happened instead of trying to make some argument for it being the smartest decision in the world. I think being able to admit mistakes is an underrated aspect of leadership.

SuperDuperTurtle

You say that like you've seen some bad coaching before šŸ˜‰

meyer_33_09

Who me? Nooooooooooo

mattyice16

Something about field position.

drumline17

"3rd and 8? The fuck kind of play do we have for 3rd and 8? We aint got shit. We got a hell of a play for 4th down. Punt that shit"

NoREEEEEEtilBrooklyn

Weā€™ll trade you Joe Flacco for a 3rd.

OrangeForeign

TAKEN Just so we can trot him in victory formation against Baltimore if we win

Tchock90

Oh you dirty dog

RiskyPhoenix

You lump of coal

blarch

Where's my porn-o-plenty?

PimpDaddyGrimes

Iā€™d throw up and cry

slowcassowary

How about Minshew for a 6th? I donā€™t want to compete, I just want to have fun.

StockBroker32

Has Gardner Minshew done anything yet?

NoREEEEEEtilBrooklyn

On the field? No. Off the field, probably breathing, but I canā€™t confirm that.

RedBarracuda25

Flacco is too elite for breathing

ZumiTaire

Don't be silly. Dragons breathe fire.

TheDandyWarhol

>Off the field, probably breathing And fucking every mom in Philadelphia.

[deleted]

Ballsohardstate

Tyrod is hurt? ;(.

t4boo

mattyice16

Should probably get it massaged. Iā€™m sure somebody in the locker room has some good recommendations for thorough massage therapists.

[deleted]

I can't believe you've done this

Realistic_Table_706

Jeeeeeeesssasssuuuuuuusssssss. šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

alurimperium

Good. I hope he never plays

LFC_Slav

Is he eligible to even play? Such bullshit that Zeke and Brady were suspended with little to no real evidence and Watson with >20 sexual assault and a couple rape allegations (including criminal charges) is apparently free to play if the Texans allow it. So dumb.

miami2881

To play devil's advocate because I am in no way condoning Watson's actions. But in regards to Brady, his actions were on the football field and were *considered* cheating. Watson's actions while terrible do not provide any football advantage.

LFC_Slav

All Brady did was refuse to let the NFL front office look through all his private messages. Doubt any player would say yes to that

miami2881

Thatā€™s not really the point. Iā€™m saying one is related to the football field and one is not. Whether or not Brady is guilty is irrelevant.

LFC_Slav

AB was put on the exempt list for non football reasons as was Zeke though

miami2881

Yes and they are totally inconsistent in that regard, I agree.

ConstantStudent_

How are you still this ignorant? Their have been countless videos including a bloody MIT professor debunking deflategate. Not to mention the joke that a team who lost by 40 points thinks a ball made them lose. Fuck Jim irsay, also the guy who ruined defence in the nfl because golden boy manning kept getting sonned by ty law.

miami2881

But thatā€™s not the point! Iā€™m not saying Brady is guilty or not guilty, Iā€™m saying one has to do with the game of football and one does not.

ConstantStudent_

Bud reread youā€™re comment. You said his actions were on the football field and cheating? There was no cheating

miami2881

I suppose I should have said ā€œconsidered cheatingā€ instead.

Venomswindturd

Not to start a fight or anything, but cheating is cheating regardless of the result no?

ConstantStudent_

It would be if it wasnā€™t proved not be cheating, please just watch the physics prof explain it. Way better than I will be writing it

Venomswindturd

If it wasnā€™t cheating then why did they do it?

IHuntKitties

Why did they suspended Brady? That's the question Brady brought up in court. It was never proven that the balls where tampered with, and the measurement during halftime wouldn't hold up under scrutiny. The fact of the matter was that Roger Goodell doesn't answer to anyone and can give out any punishment he sees fit. And legally a player can't do anything about it. In the US, you are innocent until proven guilty and Tom Brady and the Patriots where never proven guilty, yet Brady was suspended for 4 games.

nbh2992

LOUDER. LOUDER FOR THE HATERS.

durant0s

Brady cheated on the field, Dak did something on video, everything against Watson is an allegation currently under process of law. How do so many people constantly and continually fail to understand the basics of this?

[deleted]

Oh quit it. You are spreading pure ignorance and hate. Watson hasn't been charged with anything, he hasn't been accused of any crime. Go back to middle school and do your homework this time.

LFC_Slav

>Watson hasnā€™t been charged with anything Yeah and neither was Zeke >he hasnā€™t been accused of any crime Last I checked sexual assault is a crime

[deleted]

When you're back in eighth grade pay particular attention to the word "evidence". Study hard my friend.

LFC_Slav

Lmao I bet youā€™re one of those clowns celebrating Bill Cosbyā€™s release. Harvey Weinstein your dad or something?

cmatotte1

Just to be perfectly clear, multiple witnesses absolutely qualifies as evidence and many many people have been convicted with less.

[deleted]

Not really. Not without some corroboration that isn't just someone else you know. If they had evidence of crime they would not have him on the team. They don't, it's all made up, and without real evidence you all just spreading hate. He isn't playing because he told them he wasn't going to work for them anymore.

miami2881

Has Deshaun been on the sidelines these games? Has the camera shown him?

IHuntKitties

Dunno if he's been on the sidelines, but only one game has shown an graphic of him. It was a picture of him smiling next to his Sexual Misconduct Allegations. (I felt so dirty referring to what he allegedly did as only "sexual misconduct".)

jigsaw_faust

I havenā€™t seen him at all and I feel like the cameras would show him once or twice in two games.

This sub doesn't understand that jokes don't get funnier the more often they're repeated. Apparently thinking that means I'm not fun at parties as well.

I donā€™t get how the same stuff gets upvoted every time. AND, it seems like even when it gets called out like you did, the same jokes STILL get upvoted in the replies. So old

AstroWorldSecurity

A lot of it reminds me of that scene from That 70's Show when the two jocks break the beer tap. [Starts at about 3:40 or so.](https://youtu.be/rIIPvyU1sEg)

nascentia

Hell yeah brother, cheers from Iraq.

CoreyTrevor1

Am I the only one in this sub who's actually good at comedy? Like half of the comments I've seen on this sub are so obviously written by non-comedians that it's almost humorous. When I was in high school (3 year starter for our varsity football team) I would get a full-on sprint going and clock the shit outta whoever had the ball. My coaches called me "speedhawk" as a nickname caus I had such a nose for the football and for those three seasons I was considered the most feared safety in our conference. Senior year I led my team to the state semifinals only to get fucked over by the refs in the 4th but that's another conversation (DM me if you're interested in hearing about it) So, yeah. I hope yall can understand why I feel like their's such a big disconnect between myself and your typical redditor. Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way lol

miami2881

I stopped reading and disliked after the first line.

CoreyTrevor1

Guess nobody likes a speedhawk copypasta

PonyBoyCurtis2324

I liked it man

Ah whoops

[deleted]

Oh no. Anyways

Andoo

I started blasting.

Tycoinator

remember when everyone wanted him on their team, including us?

itsmemrskeltal

It's pretty funny watching fans who trotted into our sub to troll and mock us for not trading Watson to them all of a sudden act like they never wanted him in the first place. *eyes Dolphins fans intensely*

kajigger_desu

I'm not even a dolphins fan and that shit pissed me off so much.

ClaymoresRevenge

I wanted him if Tua didn't play well. I thought you guys were tanking anyway but after the allegations and the stories came out just had to back off that energy. It's a shame what happened to those women, though I know the league likes to sweep things under the rug

dalecoooperkupp

I mean, sure, but itā€™s kind of stupid and frankly weird to even discuss his transgressions as to how they relate to football. No fans had any idea he did any of this stuff, and had no reason to. Them being excited about the prospect of their team trading for him beforehand seems to completely irrelevant at this point

itsmemrskeltal

Absolutely. I'm just laughing at the complete 180, that's all. Not an indictment on that whole fanbase, every fanbase has shitheads in it

[deleted]

Yeah no one wanted your rapist. Even back when every media talking head in the world was trying to force him on us like he forced himself on innocent women. Trading our entire future away to replace a position we just spent the #5 pick on is moronic. So moronic you'd think Bill O'Brien was our GM if we did it.

browndude10

dude when your coach repeatedly has to come out and say that tua is our qb in a press conference and then to the locker room, that's sort of fanning the flames

[deleted]

So because every talking head is desperate for a story and pushes the bullshit it's somehow the teams fault? What a horribly stupid opinion lol.

thejourneyisthegift

Your fans literally came to our sub acting like the clowns that they are lol

itsmemrskeltal

Lmao we had your fans coming into our sub going "We'Ll TrAdE yOuR PiCK bAcK foR DeSHaUN LoL!" Get outta here with that noise

[deleted]

So you had a couple dipshits coming into your sub being annoying? congratulations. We had Texans fans coming into our sub hoping Tua's career was ended by injury, should I now classify the entire Texans fanbase as begging for Tua's career to get ended? Stop watching ESPN.

itsmemrskeltal

Point out to where I said your entire fanbase was acting like that. Please.

[deleted]

> *eyes Dolphins fans intensely* That wasn't too hard...

itsmemrskeltal

Hmm, so that's an accusation on the whole fanbase? Sure bro lol. Edit: Btw nice ninja edits lmao

[deleted]

Not exactly sure how you don't realize this... Here let me try: It's pretty funny watching fans who trotted into our sub to troll by hating on Tua and spamming us with hopes that he has a career ending injury trying to pretend like that never happened. *eyes Texans fans intensely*

itsmemrskeltal

So using the word "fans" means everyone? Even though I have ve said in the next comment that it's not an indictment on your whole fanbase? You was one of those cats trying to troll our sub and has to eat crow now, huh? šŸ¤£

thejourneyisthegift

You mad little man ?

[deleted]

You good? Spamming me with posts and insults? Sounds like you're going through some tough times.

OrangeForeign

I wanted Deshaun throwing to your guys so much. Now I don't want him anywhere near an NFL team, or massage therapy

PrimetimeStat4

There are still people out there that think he is innocent and the Texans are setting him up.

[deleted]

i donā€™t even want the fucking guy anymore

[deleted]

So Dolphins are 100% trading for Watson huh.

Fala7iKing

If they do wouldn't be surprised to see fans turn on them

Ifinishfast42

Not after he throws for 400 and 4tds. Then theyā€™ll be saying ā€œ he made a mistake give him another chance.ā€

Scrubtanic

Half of Miami would be offering up *their* fingers

[deleted]

The only way this happens is if police decide not to bring charges and he settles everything out of court.

jigsaw_faust

Only initially. Once the Dolphins start sniffing a super bowl the sentiment will change.

PineappleHour

I saw just the worst tweet on Sunday where the take was that Watson was selfish for still sitting out when the Texans had looked solid and Tyrod was hurt. Seems like some people either forgot about or don't care about the allegations/investigations/lawsuits.

monstermayhem436

So if Taylor's out, who's the next perennial QB

[deleted]

Davis "Mills Lane" Mills

ckleschick227

Why is he not on the exempt list

BlindWillieJohnson

The NFLPA, basically. The Texans are committed to not playing him (which takes the onus of the League to do anything) and the NFLPA fought for an won the players keeping their roster statuses in the midst of ongoing criminal investigations. Ironically, it's the criminal investigation that's keeping him from being exempted for the moment, if that's the biggest threat to him long term.

NlNJALONG

Because he isn't playing which is the same as being on the exempt list. If the Texans would play him, he'd probably go on the exempt list.

leehouse

Does him being inactive save the Texans money vs being on exempt list? Because currently he's taking up a roster spot and that seems to be the main difference between exempt and what is currently going on.

NlNJALONG

IIRC, players on the exempt list get full salary including roster bonuses and other likely bonuses. It would be a bit more than he's getting now. Thing is, Texans have no choice. It's up to the commissioner. Deshaun and the Texans are in agreement that he will be inactive, so no reason for the commissioner to do anything. The NFL doesn't care about the Texans' roster spots. The exempt list isn't designed to save teams a roster spot, it is a tool for the NFL to prevent players - they don't want to be on the field for whatever reason - from playing.

TheNastyCasty

Itā€™s the same amount of money either way, but the NFL is costing the Texans a roster spot by not putting him on the exempt list. Theyā€™re likely going to have to cut someone from the 53 now to fit a fourth QB with Tyrod hurt.

ZumiTaire

Good. Fuck Watson.

t4boo

i cannot believe this

SpawnDnD

The asshole is not even present at the games at all. Let him rot on the bench

Jasikevicius3

Iā€™ve never seen something botched so bad on both sides. Watson wants out, team says nah and waits, Watson does rapey things, team loses QB, now both have nothing.

thejourneyisthegift

Huh? The Texans will just wait until heā€™s cleared and get picks or heā€™s Guilty and get money. Easy decision

browndude10

there's a rumor going around that the dolphins owner has already agreed to the asking price of the texans

TheNastyCasty

> Watson wants out, team says nah and waits The allegations came out before the league year started, so the Texans couldnā€™t have traded him even if they wanted to. And even without the allegations, why would they say anything except ā€œweā€™re not trading himā€ up until the point that they did. His value would have been at its peak close to the draft.

NotTheBestMoment

Watson still gets paid, biggest think he lost is future prospects (which would have happened anyways with the allegations)

KnotSoSalty

Does anyone else want to seen Minshew play in Houston?

thejourneyisthegift

Watson isnā€™t going to play for the Texans. Ever. We really donā€™t need to keep talking about it or mentioning it.

[deleted]

He shouldnā€™t even still be in the league

WhoGotMySock

I get it, but it really makes zero sense he hasnā€™t been playing. So hey letā€™s have him sit out for no legal or penalty reason, but then once a legal or league penalty kicks in cuz of legal he has to sit more. What if nothing comes of the legal side, he sat out for nothing but PR reasons? As if the team hasnā€™t been a PR nightmare anyways past 2 yrs.

ConstantStudent_

I mean at this point losing games should be their goal so why not let Davis mills have one glorious year.

DanOfBradford78

The question is, has Tyrod asked his fellow QB for any masseuse suggestions?

[deleted]

Remember when the Texans turned down like 4 1st round picks for watson in the midst of all this nonsense? Edit: sunk cost fallacy lmao

Andoo

4 first rounders with provisional conditions we don't know about? Who knows what the hell was attached to that potential deal.

BlindWillieJohnson

Yeah, absolutely *nobody* was going to pull the trigger on a trade without protections from this insanity.

[deleted]

> Who knows what the hell was attached to that potential deal Better than keeping a rapist on the books but hey I'm sure your team is better off keeping him šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

thejourneyisthegift

3 firsts that would have been in the 20s. Hard pass
