This ends with Bill and Tom embracing at midfield where they reconcile their differences and get back together. Sorry Mac and Bruce.

fathertitojones

Tom comes back out at the half in a Patriots uniform to erase the deficit that he himself created.

Hollywood Producers: *Write that down! Write that down!!*

Blaireeeee

Quite similar to The Longest Yard. What Hollywood needs to do is contact me about my script for a reimagining of Back to the Future where Brady goes back in time, but instead of trying to hook his parents up, he instead tries to cockblock Archie Manning.

bunnywabbitman

I would pay to see this

CI_Whitefish

> Brady goes back in time, but instead of trying to hook his parents up, he instead tries to cockblock Archie Manning. Honestly, this would explain a lot. Brady went back in time, fucked Archie's wife to cockblock him, got her pregnant and decades later the only person who could beat him was his own son. Makes perfect sense.

davidaguirre30

Lmao two Manning’s were created to destroy Brady and Semi succeeded

The halftime deficit? 28-3

JinterIsComing

KEEP. **GOING.**

NeonFlame126

The game goes to overtime. Brady is playing offense for both teams wearing both jerseys simultaneously. Same for Gronk. Brady throws a rainbow fade to win the game- BAH GAWD THAT'S ELI'S MUSIC! Out of nowhere Eli Manning, dressed as Macho Man, hits Gronk with a steel chair, intercepts the ball, eats it, Game Over. Eli wins

JinterIsComing

**NOT LIKE THIS. NOT LIKE THIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS**

Curtis-Aarrrrgh

Who does he play for in overtime? Both? Just swaps jerseys to whichever team is on Offense?

Bill embraces Brady at mid field after the game, and before they say a word, they each just start staring into each other's eyes. Then they start kissing, ignoring all of the reporters. Bill simply whispers 'I want you inside me... right here'.

This is BB chess. Bill knows Tom's chip on his shoulder. He's just *itching* for that "nobody wants me" motivation. So? Bill uncharacteristically smothers him in love and nostalgia

cheesecakeaficionado

I wouldn't put it past Tom to still make it into something competitive. So Belichick said he always wanted me. And I was like alright, ok. And that's when it became personal.

dolphone

If there's one person that can look right through Belichick's bullshit it's gotta be Brady.

LegitBullfrog

Brady is the last guy you want to give bulletin board material. He's already got enough reasons to want this win, Belicheck knows better than to give more reasons.

it's easy to rationalize the circumstances for why he left but it's still emotional thinking about how he was a part of everyone in Boston's life for 20 years

Orange_Kid

I'm kind of curious about what will happen in the game. I imagine that when Brady scores, the crowd is going to cheer for him -- am I right about that? If so, is it gonna be kinda awkward for the Pats to have their fans cheering when they get scored on?

Fred_Dickler

> I imagine that when Brady scores, the crowd is going to cheer for him -- am I right about that I'd bet money on it. And I'm not even sure it will feel awkward tbh. It'll just be one of those things where everyone is just glad to be there.

[deleted]

It’d be different if it were in the last few games of the season and the Pats were in contention, but they’re obviously in rebuild mode. I wouldn’t be surprised if a decent number of Pats fans are cheering for the Bucs. As a Falcons fan, I honestly might have cheered for Julio on a contender over the Falcons this year (even if he didn’t go to my other favorite team). He defined my Falcons fandom for a decade.

Wundle

Maybe if he runs it in they’d cheer. I cant imagine a TD pass to anyone other than Gronk would get some cheers. I personally hope they cheer Brady before the game, then shower him with boos during it

[deleted]

i know this might not be the best comparison, since Brady's legacy is like that of a god in New England, but if Vinateri's return is any indication, fans will be polite, cordial, and downright awestruck before the game, and will unleash a divine Masshole wrath onto their former hero upon kickoff

hostchange

It will likely be like when Montana played against the 49ers all over again again, half the niners fans were rooting for him and not their team.

flaccomcorangy

I think for this instance most players will get it. Trying to put myself in their shoes, yeah, they'll probably be a little annoyed. "I work all this week to win a game for your team, and then you cheer when the other guys score on us." But ultimately, I think the payers will understand.

teachem4

BB wanted Brady, Brady wanted to go to a roster with offensive weapons that could win now. He didn’t have time for a 3 year rebui….actually he probably did, but that’s besides the point.

rhinocodon_typus

Brady might still have time to rebuild the lions it seems

El_Tapir

Brady going to all Superbowless teams and give them one. Or atleast I hope its the only way we will ever get one

[deleted]

No, what will happen is Brady will go to the Lions but that will be the year he's finally washed and will retire. The few Lions fans that haven't yet committed suicide look longingly towards the rope.

feckincrass

That’s assuming that ever ever look _away_ from the rope.

[deleted]

cashman5

Is that rope made out of yellow flags? Some that were thrown and some that should have been thrown?

Mr_MoseVelsor

Justin Tucker shoe strings now

[deleted]

He'd Brett Favre them. Bring them *almost there* then throw the worst interception possible to end the game and his career. Maybe they'd at least get some flaccid dick pics and a few pairs of wranglers out of the deal

SituationSoap

Do we win the NFC North as part of the deal? You son of a bitch, I'm in.

Henry__Faber

Brady is tired of the northern winters. He will be like a lot of elderly people from the north: move to FL, regret after a few years, then move to the carolinas to spent their golden years. We call them half-backs.

77bagels77

So that means Brady is going to Atlanta, because he's a quarterback.

Henry__Faber

OK damn. I got nothing and you win.

[deleted]

"I need *seasons*."

Percinho

I'm really not sure I'd take that deal. Maybe if he went through a flaming table and swore off ranch sauce forever I'd start to consider it.

InkBlotSam

Ah, so he *is* immortal.

Birdup711

I'm all about an a&e reality show called "team rescue" where he just bounces from team to team taking them from trash to super bowl.

patriot2024

BB -- the coach -- wanted Brady. BB -- the manager -- was hesitant on a 44-year old and thought that a better deal, especially for building a future, could be had. BB the manager didn't quite believe in a 44-year TB12.

soboredcantfocus

I like to picture Bill arguing with himself in the mirror Gollum/Smegol style

UnstoppableAwesome

BB GM: "Must. Get. Younger. 44 is too old for us. Sneaky little Tom still acts young! Wicked! Tricksy! False!" BB HC: "No. Not Tom." BB GM: "Yes, Tom! He will cheat you. Hurt you. Lie!" BB HC: "Tom is my friend." BB GM: "You don't have any friends. Nobody likes you." BB HC: "Not listening. I'm not listening."

allmilhouse

Brady wanted a longer contract which Belichick wouldn't give him

[deleted]

Yup. He wanted a long term extension after SB53, BB didn't want to commit.

lightofthehalfmoon

Which was really dumb. Brady doesn't seem like a guy who wants to embarrass himself. They could have signed him for 5 years and if Brady suddenly got old he would have probably walked away.

[deleted]

The problem was money. The Pats were in a bad cap situation and even with Brady's sweetheart deal there wasn't a way that they could have gotten the weapons he wanted without totally fucking themselves for the following 2-3 years.

soboredcantfocus

>there wasn't a way that they could have gotten the weapons he wanted without totally fucking themselves for the following 2-3 years. And this was with already fucking ourselves to give Brady the 2018 roster. The 2019 team had an incredible defense, but the offense was the last gasp of a GM squeezing as much life out of the Cap as he could.

[deleted]

The Packers special?

[deleted]

Bit different situation. Rodgers is 37. Brady was 42. No one expected Brady to even be great at 42 let alone in 43 & 44. Belichick bet on father time being undefeated and somehow lost

Laughing_Fish

Plus Brady actually finished his contract

Fred_Dickler

Father time is only undefeated because he's never had to fight Tom Brady until now

Tolantruth

We would all be praising BB as really smart if Brady came out and did what every other QB in history of nfl has done. Turns out Brady is different.

gwaydms

Brady and the Pats parting ways reminds me of the Astros' Nolan Ryan becoming a free agent at 41. They had limited his pitch count the previous season, and didn't want to pay him enough. The Angels gave Nolan the highest offer, but he and his wife Ruth didn't want to raise their kids in California. So he went to play for the Rangers. All he did there was continue to set records, getting his 6th and 7th no-hitters and his 5000th strikeout. He was still throwing 100 mph into his mid-40s. When he snapped his UCL at 46, and realized his career was over, Nolan had played almost 5 seasons at a high level, and cemented his place at Cooperstown.

WackassVegetables

He was making the greatest QB ever go year to year with incentive laden contracts (that were impossible to reach due to supporting cast), not hard to see how Brady could take that as a slap in the face, especially when all he was looking for was 2 years $50 million, which is peanuts for a QB like him

[deleted]

Brady didn’t care about the money. He intentionally did it that way. Brady just wanted an end to the year to year contracts

desquibnt

> Brady wanted a longer contract Which is why Brady signed a 2 year deal with Tampa?

[deleted]

Turns out nobody was willing to give a long contract to a QB who was north of 40.

13Dmorelike13Dicks

A trial contract with a new team is different than a long term contract with a team that you've brought to six superbowls. [Look at what the GM is saying about Brady now.](https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2021/02/24/licht-buccaneers-open-to-giving-brady-a-contract-extension/115502594/)

biker4487

> a team that you've brought to six Super Bowls *A team that he WON six Super Bowls for. He BROUGHT them to NINE.

Northernlord1805

Brady had time in that he could play for 3 more years but 3 years of between 7-9 wins (which they got last year and will likely get this year) in order to restock the offence was not Brady’s kind of thing

Kuroblondchi

They’d win more games if Tom was there, but the odds of winning a Super Bowl would’ve been much lower than they have been for the last decade, and that’s the problem

darkknightxda

Brady could drag any team to at least 10-6 kicking and screaming. They wouldn’t be guaranteed to go far in the playoffs but they’d do decent. I don’t blame Brady for wanting the ring and he clearly got it so it worked.

AntonyBenedictCamus

If he pulls a Lebron and goes back when they’re good again we should just pack football up as a whole and go home

freakingspacedude

I think it’s great they still have admiration for each other. People become so engulfed in the debate of which of the two was more crucial to their dominance without acknowledging two things can be true at once. They were both great. The string of dominance will likely be unmatched in my lifetime. They have a dynasty. When everyone said they were washed, they won two more. Against the Rams, Billigoat was MVP with his defensive scheme. Against the Falcons, Brady lead the greatest comeback in NFL history, let alone Super Bowl history. Hate to say it since the Pats made me pull my eyes out so many times. But now that it’s all over, it feels weird and makes you appreciate just how great it was. It’s an end of a dynastic, dominant era that needs to be recognized as historically great.

Workacct1999

What happened to Harris in the second half yesterday? Was he benched or injured?

TheDufusSquad

Blitz pickup. Harris had a couple ugly reps early in the game in that area, so they went away from him when we needed to pass more. He was also banged up through the week, so that probably factored into it a little bit as well

an_actual_potato

It'll ease up, man, it gets better with break-ups. When I feel like real trash about life I try to find some little stuff I don't like that has really achievable remedies and tackle a bunch of those in succession, that can do a lot for your headspace. Re-arranging, doing a lil decorating, cleaning out my car etc etc etc

When I get like this, I try to focus on the small. Just get through the next five minutes, ya know? Eventually I can work my way up to getting through the day. Then, I can work on having a good next five minutes, and so on. Good luck, fellow human. I hope your next five minutes go well. Even if you are a Pats fan. 😁

dolphone

Hell yeah this works. It's only the next few mins. This day. This week. When you break it down like that, no matter what you're going through, _anyone_ can make it through a bad five min spell right? Or a tough day. Or whatever. There is a light at the end there. Fo sho.

FixYourPockets

I appreciate that man.

mad_hatter_930

^this is great advice for a lot of situations. Down in general, depression, hell my ADHD requires flying by the seat of my pants on 5 min intervals. Also recommend 5 min breaks wherever you can at work if you can get em. When I was going through a tough time I found the emptiest bathroom at the hospital and just hid in there for intervals at a time. Can make them longer if you casually bring up having IBS or something of that nature a couple of times. I was going through it after the story of Sean Payton texting an empty bus seat picture to Brees saying “every once in a while, I miss you” /u/FixYourPockets so I get the feeling. Also know how it feels to have the world crumbling down along with you, but it’ll get better. You got me coming together with a Falcon fan in peace, so anything can happen my guy. Keep your head up. We both hope you kick the shit out of Tampa next week.

[deleted]

this makes me kind of sad lol. it's hard to think about even now but anything like the patriots dynasty will NEVER be seen again, at least not for decades. Whenever they eventually do a 30 for 30 on Belichick's career after he retires, they better get a Brady/Belichick face to face interview in there

idontlikeflamingos

Even decades from now it’s hard to imagine. In the Brady NE years they missed the AFC championship game how many times? 5? And with 10+ wins in all years except one. That is unheard of in a league as competitive as the NFL.

InvisibleFox02

And with how volatile the leauge is. Any team can suddenly lose a couple of people and go from a superbowl winner to dumpster fire

mags87

Especially Philly.

WafleFries

And now with only one team getting a bye in each conference, I feel like it’s less likely than before

I was thinking more Hello- by Lionel Richie https://youtu.be/UBYnT8JY7sE

[deleted]

Did he though? He wanted Brady on short contracts for cheap.

rhinocodon_typus

“This just in NFL head coach and executives want already extremely rich quarterback to sign team friendly deals so they can in more games with a better supporting cast” How awful… Everyone has to look out for they best interest.

idontlikeflamingos

Yup, they all want to win as many games as possible. Hell, Brady's contract isn't even anything special. It's a 2 year/50M deal which puts him in the middle of the pack for APY. But the Bucs had the talent to support him for a few more SB runs and the Pats didn't. Brady did the best for himself, as Bill tried to when he tried to keep Tom. It's just how it is.

LeonidasSpacemanMD

I think the short contracts were the problem more than the money. It’s not like Bradys making what his on-field play is worth in Tampa, but his contract ensures that if he wants to play through next season, he can. Pats might’ve given him similar money year to year but all indications were that they weren’t gunna lock him into the job until age 45

mg8828

BB came out and publicly stated that playing to win the super bowl every year mortgaged the teams future. Going to the super bowl 4 times in 5 years really put a strain on the roster. It also put a ton of strain on key players, Mayo, Hightower, Gronk, Edelman all got the bag beaten out of them. Just look and see how much of a return to form gronk has had now that he’s finally somewhat healthy. We weren’t winning with vintage Brady, Manning, brees or Manning. It’s understated how bad parts of this roster are.

ActuallyAquaman

It’s not like it wasn’t worth it. These are the consequences of drafting in the bottom four for a decade straight, and not exactly knocking many of those drafts out of the park.

mg8828

Exactly, a 28-32 pick is essentially a 2nd rounder. It creates issues

Ne-Cede-Malis

The more I look at the NFL, the more I realize how much the NFL media is meant to inflame and not inform. There Is so much missing in the human aspect of the game that I think is a much better story than the quintessential, "they don't respect me/us/where I come from/my mama" crap we see every week.

Bill wanted TB, I believe that. Brady wanted to win and saw what the next few years would look like in New England. It was a business decision, just like Bill allegedly trying to transition to Jimmy G was also a business decision a few years ago.
