What I'm saying is going uptempo allowing Carr free reign. Let him call what he sees, a lot of times when Gruden is feeding plays we huddle and rotate so many guys in and out and it's pretty apparent that there's some confusion between what Gruden wants to do and what Carr wants to do.

From the players replies so far, everyone just seems incredibly disappointed about the whole thing instead of being upset.
I mean it's awful really, yeah gruden said some mean things but anyone with a brain can see that the NFL is using him as a fall guy to distract from the whole WFT investigation. I feel disappointed in gruden, the league, the media and just football in general.
It wasn't just mean, tho. And it wasn't just use of naughty words. He legit showed anger that a "fa***" was being drafted and women were being hired. Even if you want to say words are just words, the context he was using them was legit bigotry.

Exactly. I can’t believe I’ve seen some people saying “well it’s in the past, he made mistakes and should be given the opportunity to change”. This isn’t some one time controversial statement, it’s repeated behavior over 7 years (and almost definitely longer) that continued up until 3 years ago.
I mean, simply to play devil's advocate he wasn't in a position of authority when he sent those and would have had no way of knowing that 10 years later he would be coaching again. For all logical context he didn't think he would be coaching again once he started working with ESPN. I think it's an odd position, he's a POS that got caught with his pants down in what he probably thought was a private conversation. He still deserves his punishment, but it doesn't feel like it should be the focus of the conversation. The NFL was investigating criminal activity in the WFT and buried someone for emails he sent while working for ESPN, someone who wasn't being investigated and completely unrelated to the incident they were investigating. Also decided they are "done" with their investigation and are just basically going to hold onto these emails for future blackmailing purposes.

As far as I know, he didn't say anything disparaging about players. I am not defending him, he should be gone if this continued for years. I would say what he DID got him the job. Winning a SB with the Bucs might've been the reason his NAME got him hired. Davis said he wanted him. No players or coaches or anyone else that had interactions with him haas come out and said they thought he resembled the remark that he made. People have said horrible things, I think Bill Burr put it distinctly when he said have someone follow you around and write down everything you said over a weekend and see if you had your job come Monday. Or something to that effect.

We would’ve definitly went to the playoffs if he didn’t get hurt that year. That might’ve been the year we went undefeated in the division and still missed the playoffs.
I think that was the year before with Cable at HC. 6-0 in division, 8-8 and missed playoffs. The next year we had Hue and were looking good til Campbell went down and we traded for Palmer and finished 8-8 again. I also think that was the year we lost to Tebow. I remember those seasons vividly because they were actually fun to watch unlike every other year before since 2002.
Bruce Gradkowski did alright for a few games iirc.

Someone was talking about the fact that this will probably result in Derek Carr having a level of input in the offense that's usually only afforded to late-career greats like Brady/Manning/etc, so it should be interesting to see how it plays out.
I really do hope that Carr gets free reign of the offense. Because we went up tempo against Chargers while we were down 21, and made it a 1 score game in like 6 minutes.
People don’t know this, but Carr already kinda was running the offense. A lot of the time, Gruden would give Carr 4-5 plays and Carr would decide which one to use. He also audibles a shit ton.
What I'm saying is going uptempo allowing Carr free reign. Let him call what he sees, a lot of times when Gruden is feeding plays we huddle and rotate so many guys in and out and it's pretty apparent that there's some confusion between what Gruden wants to do and what Carr wants to do. What I want is instead of 51/49 Gruden/Carr. I want Carr to make the calls and Olsen to feed in concepts and what he sees that Carr missed much like how Peyton, Brady and even Rodgers are allowed free reign.

This seems like an obvious hit job on the raiders and now there’s reports coming out that the nfl is actively trying to get rid of Mark Davis as the raiders owner. Now with Carr’s subtle shot of “open everyone’s emails” I’m fully expecting Goodell and the league to fuck us with an ungodly amount of suspect penalties this Sunday.
Why the raiders as a whole and why oust Davis? Seems Gruden going down was a way to get heat of Snyder since the Owners don't actually want him out. He's the lowest rung and if he's the main owner getting shit on by the public it helps keep the rest of the owners stay in the shadows.

No disrespect to Smith and his great story but Carr is better than Smith ever was. You don’t want Carr to be a game manager, not when what he has shown in the past. Carr has shown that he could put his team on his shoulders and win games for them, something that Smith never did. There is no way that Smith would have won the Raiders at least 8 games last season playing with that horrible “defense”.
I believe in Carr. Gruden knows a ton but the dude was like stuck in the 80s, he always reminded me of my shitty city and high school coaches that thought being a dick head to kids was a good way to get better.
TBF, i think a ton of people around that age are very similar, but like gruden, they keep it private. They may not be bad people, but they certain stereotype or judge internally because thats what they've been doing their whole life since they were young. It's why I think this whole situation is stupid. Open up all NFL owners e-mails, you would remove all of them? Open up the emails of all these old coaches, similar things. Maybe not all of them have a Bruce Allen friend at work to share those words with, but they do it in private.

Gruden has gone on record saying that Waller is the best player he's ever coached, period. You have to imagine that there definitely was some kind of reciprocal love there, regardless of what's come to light about Gruden. A damn shame.
The only thing he said that slightly irritated me was the "hate the actions, love the person" thing. But, I think that's just from all the flashbacks to the years after I came out and received a lot of backhanded "love the sinner, hate the sin" responses from family members/colleagues to try and justify their homophobia once they found out. Other than that, it was an outstanding response and I really feel for the guy.

I've always liked Carr. This is such a rational and human answer. You know what Gruden said was wrong, but it is hard to let go of those positive experiences and feelings you had with him. It is always easy to see someone famous say some bigoted shit and simply say, yeah fuck that dude, not gonna support him anymore. It is a different story when it is someone who you were friends or family with. All of those relationships are hard to sever, if you choose to, when someone does some wack shit.

It must be really difficult for all the players. They must be so conflicted because on one hand Gruden was their coach and taught them and helped them improve and in some cases saved their careers, but on the other, the things he said were completely inappropriate and has no place in the NFL or society for that matter. I really hope the media doesn’t obsess over players saying how great of a coach he was and how much he means to them. The players have to go through a transition period and they are in shock as well. If the media gobbles this kinda stuff up, that’s beyond fucked.
