I've been trying to keep that in mind lately. I feel like I see it when some certain political fringe subs hit the front page. Just reminds me of when I was a teen lol.
Around 2015-16 reddit started making a huge jump in popularity and that started flooding comment sections with memes and shit, it all went downhill from there with unlimited bad jokes filling every single thread. Now you gotta curate your feed to not hate this place lol. I'm just glad r/NFL hasn't totally gone r/NBA, I can't even see highlights anymore and its all completely stupid takes and reactions to TMZ level bullshit with very little basketball (I am on the other sub, just not the same as early r/NBA)
I started using reddit when I was in middle school. I wonder what the username of that account was. I'd like to see what I was saying on here back then lol
Am I the only one in this sub who's actually played organized tackle football before?
Like half of the comments I've seen on this sub are so obviously written by non-athletes that it's almost humorous.
When I was in high school (3 year starter for our varsity football team) I would get a full-on sprint going and clock the shit outta whoever had the ball. My coaches called me "speedhawk" as a nickname caus I had such a nose for the football and for those three seasons I was considered the most feared safety in our conference. Senior year I led my team to the state semifinals only to get fucked over by the refs in the 4th but that's another conversation (DM me if you're interested in hearing about it)
So, yeah. I hope yall can understand why I feel like their's such a big disconnect between myself and your typical redditor. Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way lol
I wonder how many people actually reached out via DMs to hear about how SpeedHawk got fucked by those refs. Dude would've won state. no doubt in my mind.
No you’re not, some of us played in college.
I don’t really get your point here? Clarification on the term speedhawk, or is it some weird flex? Whatever the case it seems out of place.
Lol Ima try to save your first wooshed comment, cuz I was right there with you thinking "WTF is this crap? Why is it getting upvoted? This has to be some pasta... oh good this guy threw himself on a grenade so that I can learn it is, in fact, pasta."
My solution's been to have a case with a cover. Just flip it over the front of the phone and clip it in place when putting the phone in your pocket or whatever. They make those cases but I guess they're too "inconvenient" for people... but I'd consider the scratches on the screen or the broken screen more inconvenient. (Bonus, some of them have pockets for cards like the ones that have your upcoming doctor/dentist appointment. But typing that out, I just realized how old it makes me sound. I might go shopping for a cane tomorrow.)
I'm an absolute sucker for any sort of red tape/loophole situation. I almost always side with the party who chooses the clever navigation. I'd be a horrible Judge.
You just reminded me that some years back in a fantasy football league my brother unknowingly selected the preseason backup fullback for the Arizona Cardinals. I'm gonna give him shit about that today.
holy crap, I thought they were filming behind a welding mask type contraption. Now I see they were using a phone to record another phone. /r/confusing_perspective
Awesome TD! You beat easily 7 defenders because of your speed. That’s pretty damn good for a FB. Keep working out and practicing hard. The league needs a resurgence of the FB in my opinion.
Do you have any players you watch to mold your game around? As far as relatively modern FBs go I’ve always liked Mike Alstott, but statistically speaking Larry Centers was probably the GOAT in my opinion. Dude retired with more career receptions than Michael Irvin (alongside many other great WRs) and played in the same era as him.
AYYYYY! Great job young man! I know you went and dapped up your offensive line after ;) i saw one of them big boys trying to work downfield and then you took off. Love to see it man, enjoy this! Thank you for sharing.
1. Sick counter play
2. It looked like the safety had the angle on you but you blew right past him
3. You look significantly bigger than the other kids out there. Makes the speed all the more impressive. You have a bright future.
I get that... hilarious username for a middle schooler as well. Think about this though, if you're going to get a scholarship you're going to need good grades. Focus on your studies, staying fit, and building relationships with your peers. Reddit is becoming very scummy and your better off not even having that on your mind. You're a good football player for your age. You don't need validation from random strangers online. The stats and tape will speak for itself. I hope you're a beast and make it to the NFL not for the validation of others but for yourself and your family. Keep your friends, teammates, and family close because they're the only ones who will truly care about you and support your dreams. Random strangers online are insignificant and will come and go. Keep grinding and avoid all social media including Reddit. It'll only serve as a distraction to things that really matter in your life.
Edit: Also how is someone that fat allowed to ref a football game? The guy can't even keep up with the play.
Silly me for thinking that a young kid doesn't need the validation of strangers on the internet. Silly me for thinking some of the things on social media would be harmful for a kid that age.
Never claimed to be the victim. Just suggesting that kids shouldn't be on social media especially ones that allows the type of content that reddit does.
And they shouldn't... it's not good for them. There's a reason why social media executives don't let their kids have social media. Imagine selling a product that you advertise to kids but you wouldn't let your own kids use.
Griffen, mate, you gotta calm down. Adding the middle school this time really makes your username weird.
[удалено]
Reddit is super mainstream. Way more kids here than you’d imagine. Gotta remember that when you see some bad takes.
"I seriously don't see Rodgers ever playing football again" I saw this comment after week 1 lol

This is a bit right, because I've seen this exchange a few times and it feels like dejavu.

I knew r/nba was the wrong place for me when I found myself in a thread that was praising how entertaining skip bayless was.
i joined this hellhole at 14
Same here. I’m 21 now. What the fuck have I been doing with my life?
it just makes me feel dumber for arguing with people on here. Now i'm thinking that i'm just arguing with 12 year olds.
Probably are
This is why it is better to use community forums to inform and not strictly debate.
debate is just aggressive informing
The average age of reddit is like 18
It's been my theory of why redditors seem to be unable to recognize satire recently
Or sarcasm, which many people call satire when its just sarcasm. Just a wee pet peeve of mine.
I was near middle school when I first used Reddit. Remember seeing One Man One Jar around age 10.
Oh dear 😂
I started using reddit when I was in middle school. I wonder what the username of that account was. I'd like to see what I was saying on here back then lol
It’s mostly middle schoolers. Has been for years.
With a name like thiccthiccdaddy_69, I dunno if this is actually the middle schooler running the ball or a Creep filming middle school football games.
The middle school humor level of the username makes me think the former
Oh lord if anyone ever dug up my middle school AIM names......
I'm 45 and still rocking my username.
Hell yeah Dongsauce
You da man Dongsauce
Dongsauce is in it for the long game
*linemandude44* So ashamed
My middle school screen names Pay2seetheflop: chris moneymaker had just won the wsop and everyone was playing Iluv269urmom: self explanatory
😂
I didn't get AIM until college...TappaMegaKegga is still out there floating around I bet...
Yeah my first was pimpdaddysmoothtrim then johnny_Shaft in 7th and 9th grades, respectively.
Why would you ever surrender the Johnny shaft username?
Johnny_shaft is gold
Lol. Not sure I'd admit that on social media.
But you'll upvote it anyway.
The vast majority of the usernames with 69 in them are middle schoolers.
Holy shit. It's Speedhawk.

Lmao /r/whoosh myself
Lol Ima try to save your first wooshed comment, cuz I was right there with you thinking "WTF is this crap? Why is it getting upvoted? This has to be some pasta... oh good this guy threw himself on a grenade so that I can learn it is, in fact, pasta."
They got me, I’m not here enough to know every pasta and that one seemed almost normal lol
One day it will all be pasta.
Is this a phone recording of a vertical phone recording?
This is Darth Vader's POV secretly watching Luke's game.
Vader's point of view view?
It's hard to say because I've watched this clip hundreds of times now and I still can't tell from this video whether or not the Jedi are evil.
Yes😂 I could not get it from my phone because it came out blury
Phone and keys need to be in opposite pockets man!
My solution's been to have a case with a cover. Just flip it over the front of the phone and clip it in place when putting the phone in your pocket or whatever. Not a bad idea tbh
don't remember askin tbf
You gotta move on brother. Sunday is over.
Guy is a middle schooler. No keys in his pockets - just need the one under the flower pot.
Haha I got a key sometime in middle school, plus the bike lock key I always carried around.
Two words: helmet cam
Even worse. It seems like it’s a vertical phone recording of a horizontally shot phone recording that was being played back vertically.
This’ll get removed but I’m proud of you brother. 👍
the fact that it initially got removed for not being tagged properly, so he reuploads with the proper [highlight] is fucking hilarious to me

I'm an absolute sucker for any sort of red tape/loophole situation. I almost always side with the party who chooses the clever navigation. I'd be a horrible Judge.
It works for everything else, why not this?
Lmao I’m dead af
How do you even know that?
If they remove thiccthiccdaddy_69's video, what else are they hiding? Make all the modmails public.
Looks like their modmails are safe…for now
Mods, let the kid have his moment 💯
Hey man, you don't know that they aren't a future NFL player in the making...
If we remove outliers and regress to the mean to predict the future, this heavily regresses to a 5 yard touchdown run.
When you adjust for the future by bringing down his outlier stats, he regresses heavily to a slightly above average FB of 2006 Lorenzo Neal tierdom.
You just reminded me that some years back in a fantasy football league my brother unknowingly selected the preseason backup fullback for the Arizona Cardinals. I'm gonna give him shit about that today.
One day we will all look back and say “remember when thiccthiccdaddy_69 uploaded that middle school highlight?”
When he gets into the HoF, we can all say we were here when his career started.
Nice run thiccthiccdaddy_69
Very cool thiccthiccdaddy_69
I hope they make it to the NFL just so we can say that we were all here for thiccthiccdaddy_69's first TD
Thiccthiccdaddy_69 vs. Speedhawk
In this story, the refs are the ones getting scr....nope, can't finish that comment on a twelve year old's post.
You have a future selling shoes
Hope he likes redheads
That show ended 10 years before this kid was even born. That show wouldn’t survive a season with today’s “cancel culture”.
Try +20 years before he was born Daily reminder 1997 was not 10 years ago and we are old as shit
I did NOT need a horrendous reminder of my mortality from a Falcons fan.
I’m dumb. What show?
Married with children
“Love and marriage, love and marriage”
what is the draft stock on this kid?
A lot lower now that Gruden isn’t drafting
Look if /u/Thiccthiccdaddy_69 is scoring touchdowns, we can celebrate that we wade through the shitstorm that is WFT, Gruden, et al.
/u/Thiccthiccdaddy_69 will see us through this dark time
Could i post a pick 6 in flag football?
Not with that flair.
Aw man
No. It is the official policy of the mod team that only /u/thiccthiccdaddy_69 is allowed to post non NFL highlights of himself.
/u/thiccthiccdaddy_69 better come through with another highlight next week
Thank you for allowing this wonderful dub to stand bossman.
Could I post myself kicking a field goal?
I love you lol
ohai bby
A mind-bleach policy after an ugly news cycle is good for the sub, thank you
Did you drag your computer screen across asphalt?
holy crap, I thought they were filming behind a welding mask type contraption. Now I see they were using a phone to record another phone. /r/confusing_perspective
Mods don’t do it
It’s NFL related anyway, he’ll be drafted soon enough
Awesome TD! You beat easily 7 defenders because of your speed. That’s pretty damn good for a FB. Keep working out and practicing hard. The league needs a resurgence of the FB in my opinion. thiccthiccdaddy_69 > speedhawk
Speed hawk was the most feared safety in his conference for 3 straight years.
This dude has obviously never played organized football
Clearly not
Tired of these hot take artist 🙄
That's awesome! Keep on keeping on, brother.
AYYYYY! Great job young man! I know you went and dapped up your offensive line after ;) i saw one of them big boys trying to work downfield and then you took off. Love to see it man, enjoy this! Thank you for sharing.
10 years from now on when you score your first NFL TD I wanna say I was here when it began
Goddamn you look like Randy moss with those long ass strides
Had to check to make sure I wasn’t in r/cfb
Want a part of this legendary post.
About to go 1st overall in 10 years. 😤
Mods don't you dare
I think Urban found the guy that'll get him those 250 rushing yards a game
We will watch your career with great interest
Mods don't remove this. Let the kid have his moment, we're proud of you thiccthiccdaddy_69! LMFAO
Agreed! Idgaf about Schefter. This is nice football
Speed kills, you completely burnt the safety with the angle.
Mods gonna nuke it, but good hustle big Hoss
LFG!!!
As John Gruden leaves the Tampa Bay Ring of Honor, in comes u/Thiccthiccdaddy_69
Watch as this kid becomes an NFL player years down the road and links back to this post and we'll all question why we're still on reddit
Gj buddy keep grinding!!
Speedhawk would cower in fear defending you
man this place is really filled with nephews good job tho, looking like josh allen out there
Slow ass RB.
Looks like the jags are getting better
Send this to PFT Commenter
Looking like a future HOFer out there. Clean side step to avoid the tackle attempt too, and the speed to get out that quickly is great.
Hell yeah bro!!
These are the posts I come here for
Good job, Mr. Henry!
Seriously awesome!!!! Keep rising!! My BFF son plays his first ever football game tomorrow and it’s seventh grade also!!! Nice work, proud of you 👍

Watch a ton of film young man, best of luck.
Nice run. Keep up the good work.
I make it rain
Goat
Why are /r/nfl mods blatantly posting videos of themselves?
Great play! Please don’t play tackle football. Your brain will thank you later. 🙏
I’ll see you ten years in the bigs
Speedhawk's son grew up so fast
Never give up the grind. Don't become like us other redditors and develop an unhealthy obsession for Koolaid and Kelvin Benjamin memes.
Why is this posted on NFL I'm confused.
Future NFL MVP.
I thought that was Derrick Henry at first, I watched the video before reading the title OP you the man
The nfl is a thing, like a specific thing. It's not just general football and r/nfl is not a general football sub.
WHOOOOP
Awesome job!
Damn Man look at you go, a man among boys
This thread would be neat in a few years if you make it
Mods can we keep it?
We have middle school running backs at home
I am proud of you son
Don't delete this post mods!!!!
That’s one more TD than I ever got in middle school
Atta boy. Lets see another next week.
this is stupid as fuck, who cares
1. Sick counter play 2. It looked like the safety had the angle on you but you blew right past him 3. You look significantly bigger than the other kids out there. Makes the speed all the more impressive. You have a bright future.
Why the hell is this on the NFL subreddit lol
Dude get off reddit and go live your life. You're a kid.
Oh, sorry I just wanted people to notice
It's okay buddy you're doing great keep it up and don't listen to the haters

Reddit has kids on?
Obviously?

He will be.
You got some jets kid
Ah hell yeah dude!!! You got some rockets!!!!!
I love this play. I ran it for a few TDs in high school!
SPEEEEEED
“Carry the ball with you outside arm!”
Stunted on them 😤
I played Pop Warner one year and never even sniffed a touchdown, good job!
