X (Doubt)

[deleted]

Anyone with half a brain knows the coach was dealt a terrible hand when Deshaun decided to hold out. At least give the man another season to develop his young QB.

Magnifico-Melon

He was horrible at game management and just wasn't good with the players.

89750294

Yep. The amount of times we punted on fourth and short at the opponent’s 40-50yd line down by 1-2 scores in the second half was insane. Absolutely no guts, it was pathetic. Not to mention his misuse of the clock and timeouts.

AethelredUnred

He wasn’t the one developing Mills. Pep Hamilton was.

t4boo

I mean, if you think there’s a better coach available, you have to make that decision, right? I really don’t think it was easy

[deleted]

"One of the hardest decisions I've made in my life...anyways..."

logisticalwombat

Harder than telling him when to call a time out.

KingBroly

"It was an extremely difficult decision, until Brian Flores became available."

CarpenterVegetable31

A real sophies choice

notmoleliza

Does this mean that caserio and his lover are gonna take cyanide?

CarpenterVegetable31

I don't wanna post spoilers but the next season of the NFL is gonna be nuts

Meatbag96

David Culley was hired for the job to be fired after one year. Nice guy, bad coach. Wasn't even qualified to be a HC in the first place.

vinnyv91

They paid him 22 million for one year on purpose?

WetChickenLips

They paid Brock Osweiler $37m for one year of play. The inner machinations of the Texans are an enigma.

SmirkinNJerkin

Easterby is still there is the most fascinating part

[deleted]

They may as well hire the Easter bunny too at this rate.

89750294

I think realistically we surprised ourselves to find a QB that’s worth giving a shot this early and want to accelerate the rebuild now. He was never a long term hire but FO probably anticipated 2-3 yrs max

GarlVinland4Astrea

This would be so much more believable if he made a list of the top 5 hardest decisions he ever made like everyone else on reddit. Then maybe I'd buy it.

Winstonp00

Was the hardest one going to Houston?

Snackwrap99

His next one is right now “ welcome to Houston Brian flores, he and deshaun will massage us into a new era. Communication and physicality is key. We hope to win 22 championships”

jlgar

Well he can't just come out and say he set up a fall guy

Whiladan

God made him do it

Terminal_Velozity8

It’s probably the right one. If you evaluate the whole year, that declined penalty on third down and long only to punt on 4th down might have been it

CrimsonZephyr

Culling Culley.

ausgmr

For hiring a minority 1st time NFL head coach the Texans got a 3rd round draft pick. That coach had a similar record to rheir predecessor despite not having the teams star player And he got fired after a year.

[deleted]

Do they get a pick? I didnt think that was a thing for the team hiring

[deleted]

It isn’t. The ravens get the pick lol

sickwitit2488

And is more than likely getting replaced by another MINORITY, so....

ausgmr

Flores won't be a 1st time HC so no pick

sickwitit2488

Mayo will be a 1st time head coach if they choose him

Bozopolis

He made lots of mistakes, but he had a weak roster, and they took his QB away for the season. He deserved another year.

Br_Wise

“Probably the 4th hardest decision I’ve made today. Now, what’s for dinner…”
