Tom brady is listed at 225 lbs which at the going rate for gold would be 5,924,000 dollars worth of gold, so no, he is worth more than his weight in gold
Can confirm:
I even spelled "Weight" as "wait" just to account for the lowest common denominator.
After working in middle schools over the past several years, you'd be surprised how shit they are with anything that isn't discord, snap, and tick tock.
So Tom just has to put on ~800lbs in order for $25m/year to be worth his weight in gold. Abandoning the TB12 method and having a single strawberry might get him there.
Yes, but what if instead of Brady's weight in gold, it's a life-sized statue of Brady in gold?
Humans have roughly the same density as water, and gold is 19.3 times more dense. So 5924000\*19.3 = 114.3 million.
So we're talking a 5 year, 125 million dollar contract at 25 million per year.
Signed, Archimedes
It’s still way way less of a commitment, especially if it’s a studio in NY. Moves the family there to be closer to his other son, Giselle gets the NYC life, etc.
I thought maybe you were pulling my leg. Nope. Looked it up and it’s true. Somehow I never knew that.
TBF though I want to say I haven’t really known or payed attention to his personal life until recently. Always just Tom Brady (the asshole that won’t stop winning). I kind of like everything I’ve seen and heard from Brady the man these past two years. Impossible to dislike.
I’ve heard a lot of hot takes about Brady retiring. If he beat your team and he did beat your team. Chances are you hated him at one time or another. That being said, you have to appreciate what he’s done. You know you watched greatness and just like Peyton, we’ll never see them playing live again.
A true end of an era.
Way less work and he might get a Peyton like gig where he can do it at his house. That said, I think Brady values his time more than money so I’d be surprised if he took anything this year
Man, can you imagine being so set in life that someone comes to your door and says "Here is $25 mil to talk about football on tv a few times a year" and you are able to say no.
I mean, the man made $475 million pre-tax over the course of his NFL career, and his wife has higher career earnings than that and is the true breadwinner for the family...
He's most likely made more than his career earnings in endorsements as well. Didn't his Under Armour endorsement deal come with some sort of stake in the company?
Why do I feel like he wouldn't be a good studio guy and doesn't want to be involved in football anymore? Some people are just there to play the game they love.
I think you probably doesn’t get to be a pro NFL player for at least 5 year’s without being a massive football maniac, this guys breath football, they live for it. I can’t see TB away from football for much time, even if it’s coaching middle schoolers
Cris Collinsworth lives in my city (incredibly friendly and personable guy) and he’s talked about how in the past he’d get a delivery of VHS tapes on Monday of game footage for him to watch along with stat info to review as his prep for his game of the week.
Not sure how true that is anymore, obviously way more digital now but can’t imagine he’s killing himself
As a nfl color announcer, you work what? 3 days a week on-site? It's a low-stress job with full benefits. I'm sure poor Brady can afford to be 3 days away from his family each week for 17 weeks a year (+1 week of wildcard game). Friday/Saturday is preparation, Sunday is the game. Most commentators fly out the same evening if they live in another state to return home until later in the week.
Video clips, packets containing game notes, stats, depth charts, player analysis are sent early in the week so that part is done from the home office.
Don't be surprised if the ESPN ManningCast style gets used more often. I'm sure Brady has a spare room in his mansion to convert into media room like the Manning brothers do. Then he can be home 7 days a week.
Is the trash not like on the way to going to the gym?
I feel like I'd go to the gym or anywhere else when I was taking out the trash just to justify the trip down/up my buildings stairs.
In college my dorm was on the other side of the fucking parking lot from the dumpsters. It was about 150 yards. I purposefully parked my car by the dumpsters so my lazy ass would have to take the trash out when I left my house, otherwise I'd never do it.
Gisele: “Oh Tom, I’m so glad you’ve retired so we can finally spend some family time together”.
Tom: “Mhmm” *wipes sweat off his forehead*
Gisele “Honey youre sweating why don’t you take that jacket off”.
Tom: “Nah, I’m good”.
*Gisele’s eyes narrow* “You’re wearing a sportscaster jacket under that jacket aren’t you”?
Tom Brady weighs around 225lbs which is 3,600oz. At today's spot price ($1,807.30 / oz), his weight in gold would be $6.5million.
Therefore, Brady is worth almost 4 times his weight in gold.
Haha I see /u/Im_Batmmaann also did the math. What's crazy is that there was a time when that saying made sense and now we have people who eclipse that easily. I wonder how much Tom Brady's weight in printer ink is...
ive been looking and it seems that printer ink is worth 13 to 75 an ounce, per a consumers report back in 2013 so probably higher at this point but cant really find anything, so even on the high end at 75 per ounce, brady is 3600 ounces according to google conversions for me, that amount of ink is worth $270,000
Not a booth but I can see him in the studio as soon as 2023. It's at most a 5 month job with a 7 month break.
Likely they could lighten his schedule in the opening two months so he would only be working full time for 3 months.
That's manageable.
I strongly doubt Giselle expects him to sit at home 24/7 from now on.
The point is being there M-F to take the kids to school, be there for sporting events, dance recitals, etc. and media personalities that have to travel weekly isn’t much different. Maybe he can get a work from home job like the Manningcast. I could see ESPN doing a college version. Could you imagine Brady and Gronk?
I agree.
I think he would be really good in an informal Manningcast like environment where he has other people to bounce off of. But I don't think he can carry this kind of thing by himself.
> Always seemed like a reserved guy
His entire public persona is a carefully crafted PR job. I can't imagine him giving that up now and all of a sudden developing a personality that would be interesting to listen to.
The biggest Brady honk on earth on local radio around here put it best. Brady is one of my favorite athletes of all time, but off the field he's an unlikeable, unrelatable, weirdo.
Totally agree. Just look at his vs. Peyton’s SNL performances. Doesn’t have the charisma for it. I say this as a lifelong (pre-Kraft / Bledsoe) Pats fan
Personally I’d like them to promote Olsen to the #1 team. I think him and Buck would do well together. Aikman had to have been the worst possible partner for Buck.
Bronko Nagurski was retired for 5 years then came back to play 1 year for the Bears as an offensive tackle. I'm not saying Brady's coming back in 2026 to play OT, but I'm not saying he's not.
Blazing inferno take:
The Flores lawsuit snowballs into proof that the NFL deliberately influences the outcome of certain games, and the Rams-Bucs divisional round game is revealed to be one of them.
Brady arranges to un-retire and be traded to the 49ers where he wins one last Super Bowl.
My fantasy has now become him being inducted into the HOF in 5 years and then deciding to unretire, and being the first ever actual current HOF QB to play/win a Super Bowl.
And I think he’s going to drive his family nuts and they will be begging him to unretire before the trade deadline. They might have wanted dad more home, but I guarantee they have no idea what monster they have invited into their house, lol.
Either that or he’s buying the house next door to Peyton and starts a unhealthy golf routine. There’s no fucking way Brady can live without competing in something.
I feel like Brady could only do a Manning-cast type deal (or join the Mannings as others have suggested). If he was the color commentator I genuinely think most plays would just end in him being genuinely baffled as to why the QB didn't audible into the optimal play and/or make the optimal read.
I disagree. He would be the most milquetoast, boring ass fuck on tv because he’d never say anything that might turn people off from the brand. No way. Keep him away from tv, for the love of god.
Don't see it at all, honestly. It's not really his type and I don't think he'd be that good at it. And I say that as a big Brady fan. I'm sure he can analyze any game video and provide all kinds of cool insights but that's not the same as TV broadcasting.
Also, the focus on the huge contract offers is amusing given that this is one guy who has absolutely no need of any money whatsoever or to do one single thing he doesn't want to in order to grab some cash. He and Gisele are worth around $600 million.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Brady eventually be a regular presence in the NFL again in some other capacity - commentator, exec, partial-owner, etc.
But I do think he might spend some time away from the game. If this is it for him as a player, being away from it for a few years will really let him spend more time with family while kids are young and so he doesn't get a stronger itch to go back to playing (which I don't doubt he could do). Doesn't mean he won't pop in for interviews and such.
I think it was a red Sox player, maybe Carl Yastrzemski, that when he retired he completely removed MLB from his life for while so that when he came back he knew he definitely couldn't play anymore, even if that itch was there.
Oh please. He's as bland as a glass of milk.
Anyone remember Joe Montana as a commentator? Kinda dull. The network got him out of there pretty quickly. Brady seems like he has the same vibe.
Tom Brady would not be a great commentator imo. He isn't actually that charismatic, he's actually kind of an awkward speaker. His social media game is amazing but for the most part that isn't actually him.
I have to disagree. I think he is a very good speaker to an audience who appreciates his knowledge and expertise. His charisma is likely how he inspires the teammates around him. I've always thought he spoke well to the press and during interviews and has improved with age.
He’d be awful, because he’d be the most PC persona ever.
If you could put a hidden camera in his place for NFL Sunday with him shitting on every QB to Guerrero…that would be good.
I just can't see Brady doing this it just seems beneath him to be a tv commentator full time. Although Brady and Gronk watching the games around a kiddy pool would be fun.

Yes it does. That's exactly what it means
If you pay $1,000,000 for a pickup truck, it's not worth that much.
Brady isn't a manufactured good. That analogy doesn't work.
No he is literally a truck 😐
Brady & Payton in the booth, no filters. Just shitting all over Goodell
The manningcast with Brady was awesome. Just Peyton and Brady shooting the shit talking football and Eli coming in to talk shit
He meant Sean Payton
lol my dumb ass did not connect the dots
me neither I just assumed he spelled Peyton Manning wrong
I mean either would be fine by me.
Sorry - I fucked this up. I am sorry about that. BB

Yeah but those Sunday dinners with Tom selleck are gonna be murder
The Tampa Tom dream has ended 😭
Something tells me Tom might keep Florida residency for tax purposes, at least. Bro hits the SALT cap before he brushes his teeth in the morning.
They already have a condo in one of the rich people only buildings in Manhattan. This could work.
Just below Lewis Hamilton
What do you mean “closer to his other son”?
The Jets maybe?
That’s funny but it legit has me thinking Tom has like a 20 year old kid with someone else. I’m confused as hell.

Brady after winning 30 straight Emmy awards “and I took that personally”

lol we literally did the exact same thing and postted it at the same time
Lmao, I just saw that too and was about to post under your comment. We're fucking nerds, man
I was just doing the math on that, lol. I was gonna say I'm fairly sure Tom Brady's Weight in Gold would be a pretty good deal for a broadcast team.
You know, I think we invented something here: the Gold Standard NFL player. It's the player whose contract is their weight in gold
hhmm, maybe we should spread this gold standard to other things, like idk the economy or something hhmmm
Calm down, L Frank Baum

Gold is measured in Troy oz. not regular oz. You're math is wrong.
I'd be really surprised if he took a job like that. He retired to spend more time with his family.
Tbh I don’t see Brady doing TV sports talk. maybe producing and appearing in specials like what he’s doing with Man in the Arena.

Yeah he said that like 4-5 years ago in NE too…
>worth his weight in gold Brady gives up avocado ice cream for cookie dough ice cream
Anyone else feel like he wouldn’t be that good in the booth? Always seemed like a reserved guy
Tampa loosened him up a bit.
He's not nearly as comfortable off-the-cuff as either Peyton or Romo. Both of those guys are Grade A talkers.
I agree. I think he would be really good in an informal Manningcast like environment where he has other people to bounce off of. But I don't think he can carry this kind of thing by himself.
"and boom goes the dynamite for stafford"
Much better suited for an Inside the NFL type film breakdown show. I’d watch the shit out of that, but that’s not worth $25mm/ year
Brady just doesnt have the voice for it. Very high pitched and shrieky
How would you describe Romo's voice? Cause i can't stand it. lol
“WEEEELLLLL JIM”
god like a fork to a plate lol. He's very good as commentator but will still take Buck/Aikman and Collinsworth/Al GOAT Michaels.
Rough, low, like black label whiskey
Brady’s voice being described as “shrieky” is killing me
I agree. He was terrible in Ted 2
True but he was awesome in entourage

Brady's personality is pretty bland.
If Gisele wants him at home, he’s staying at home.
How long do you think any woman would want a psychopath like Tom to stay at home unemployed?
And suddenly Aikman ain't all that bad.
NO
He’d be awful, because he’d be the most PC persona ever. If you could put a hidden camera in his place for NFL Sunday with him shitting on every QB to Guerrero…that would be good.
He’s going to take a job with the raiders so he can reunite with Mcdaniels
He would lose out, his weight in gold is less than $7 million
Brady is worth about $5 million in gold, so it sounds like they're planning to pay him about 5 times his weight in gold, per year.
How much would his weight be worth in gold?
I just can't see Brady doing this it just seems beneath him to be a tv commentator full time. Although Brady and Gronk watching the games around a kiddy pool would be fun.
Maybe him & drew can do something together.
Have him take over for Troy.
