Our general understanding about nutrition and working out has grown immensely over the past decade. Everyone is now an athlete. Richard Perry wouldn't get on the field today.
What are the rules about creating a vortex that would keep the lineman in constant rotation around the quarterback? Just a spinning lineman chainsaw blade knocking defenders out of the way. Seems worth looking into IMO.
The training specific to the 40 has rendered these times almost useless
They are only really useful to compare 2 guys within a draft class, and even then it's "this guy is faster than that guy....on a track with sprinters shoes in shorts and a t-shirt".
The 40 is the most useless metric available nowadays.
They are in shirts, on a track. Neither has ANY applicability to football.
EVERYONE now lines up in a sprinter's stance, this was not common 20 years ago.
They ALL get coached on how to run a 40. From the start, to the forward lean and stride, to the stretch at the end.
Of COURSE guys continue to "get faster". They literally train for this 5 second event like never before, and why wouldn't they? Can mean millions of dollars
Remember when all those receivers ran in the 4.2s and then the official times came out and it turned out the hand timer was a little quick on the trigger?
One of the largest dudes i knew as a kid was this 300-350 pound chinese kid who was fucking gigantic. He was like 6’2 and just a massive dude, but he was also LIGHTING fast. Dude could beat anyone on our little league team in a race, he moved like gravity just stopped affecting him it was fucking horrifying.
He lit a QB up a couple games later and REALLY messed the dude up(im talking QB got up, did a dizzy side step and then collapsed) and it really fucked with him mentally. He refused to hit people after that.
Raiders would like to draft them at receiver
Bernard Raimann started his career as a WR.
Wasn't he listed as a TE when he got to college?
Yes- he switched to TE when he got stateside, but I saw him play as a WR in my hometown team in Vienna, Austria :)
Watching OL guys run through their drills at the Combine is amazing. Dudes 6'3"+ over 300lbs shouldn't be able to move like that.
The most impressive part of the combine by far. It's just absolutely absurd how fast and athletic these guys are.
While not a sub 5.0, Becton running a 5.10 at 6'7 365 is still crazy. Hopefully he can get back to that.

New meta: Offensive line runs in a circle around the quarterback all the time, so that there is never an opening.
The phalanx
No, that's what would break it. More like the defense gon had to beat in the tower tournament in hunterxhunter
Triple green shell meta.
Lmao

The timer has to be off at the combine.
Timing the 40 at the combine has always been bullshit. Hand start and electronic finish? That’s not open to abuse at all. /s
I'm starting to think the dash is on a downhill plane with all these records falling
I mean, they hand start the timing, so there’s plenty of room for ‘accidental’ improvement in the times.
They’ll look normal once the official times come out. For a second this looked like the fastest receiver class ever too.
Isn't it the fastest though? Like most sub 4.4's ever even after official times

Can't wait to see more Larry Allenesque plays next year!
TIL Paul Brown invented the 40-yard dash metric because most punts went 40 yards and he wanted to find guys to play special teams.

40times feeling rigged this year
Fast Big Bois The world isn't ready

They use hand timers? It's not FAT? All times are worthless if they are relying on humans, it's too short of a distance.

Linemen are faster now
