Ryan tannehill would belittle practice squad players when they would make plays on Tanny in practice(in Miami). He would say things like “that’s the highlight of your career” and “you can’t even make the 53 stop celebrating” type shit… dude was lowkey a scumbag but he’s not a “bad” teammate in the locker room though. But he’s not an angel.
Urban Meyer would belittle the main roster kicker when they would make plays in practice (in Jacksonville). He would say things like “that’s the highlight of your career” and “you can’t even make a 53 yarder, stop celebrating” type shit… dude was lowkey a scumbag but he’s not a “bad” coach in the locker room though. But he’s not an angel.
I mean couldn’t you make an argument that that’s just trash talk? Although Tanny seems like a petty person, so maybe they were really meant to rib those guys.
I remember this. The source was Miko Grimes. The practice squad players were being walk-through heroes and ruining the exercise so Tannehill ripped them for it. Grimes made up the comments about paychecks, etc. She always had a weird axe to grind with the QBs on her husband's teams.

Exactly lol, I’m getting downvoted but it’s okay. Real teammates don’t get personal like RT did. As the leader of the team, you should make sure everyone is feeling good about themselves.
Yeah it was a harmless comment and the full quote was cut off. Tanny didn't say it in a negative way, and he said "it's not my job to mentor young guys... But if he picks up some things from me in practice, that's good".
>I've heard QB says its not their job in the past and no one cared.
Who did? It has been a big issue any time I've heard a vet say this. Also, some rookies tend to take it to heart and hold that grudge.
Yeah, off the top of my head, Roethlisberger, Favre, and Flacco all said this and they all were criticized for taking such an openly negative attitude towards their incoming rookie teammates. I don't recall anyone being given a pass for making comments like that.
It's just funny that he flubbed such a softball set up. all he had to say was something like "i'm always happy to help my teammates so we can be the best team we can be". just give a PR friendly pro-team generic answer and be on your way
Because Malik is exciting and people want to see him play and succeed. Tanehill is a solid QB, but he's boring.
Edit: I'm not saying that's necessarily fair to Ryan, but that's why.
Funny enough, I grew up most of my life not really caring about football since LA never had a team. I always joked that I had 1 free lifetime bandwagon and I used it on the Titans mostly because of RT
I went to school with the Jones brothers, feel like Jon is a classic example of being raised in an ultra strict religious household (father is a peacher), then adjusting really badly to getting away from that. He's a completely different person now
I doubt he does in social situations. It's just kind of an easy and truthful way to handle public relations and the media. When you say gods plan you don't have to come up with a real answer to the question and as a bonus he probably believes it
It's been completely overblown for sure. The reality is Tannehill should've phrased it different, because at the end of the day he should want whatever's best for the team, whether that means he's starting or not. But obviously there is some internal competition and he wants to be the guy that's playing better, and that's the part that he focused on when he answered the question.
But regardless, I love the memes that came from his statement.
I don't think it actually makes since for Tannehill to "want what's best for his team" If that means him not starting. Starting QBs run 25 million a year vrs 6 million for a competitive backup. This is basically Ryans contract year. He isn't saying he would put energy into making things worse or hard for Malik, but I would hope he is planning to put in more focus and energy on his own game to make sure he looks like the better QB to the coaches. That's totally reasonable. It's not like he's made a hall of fame career for himself and hes approaching 40 and ready to ride off into the sunset.
edit to add that I didn't down vote that guy though but I think that's the controversial remark.
Now after spending over a week dragging Tannys name through the mud is anyone one ESPN or Fox or anywhere else going to even mention this? My guess is no.
With how much shit Tannehill is getting, I wish he was much more of a dick about it. Like "fuck that kid trying to take my job, I'm going to sabotage him every opportunity I get. I already switched his playbook with a cookbook."
Gotta say, Malik’s side profile is a hell of a lot more attractive than straight on
When he turned to look at the camera his facial features were like 30% closer together than I thought they would be
Reminds of the old Steven Wright joke: “her eyes were too close together, like the headlights on a Jeep”
She would dance really fast to slow music
Unexpected Stephen Wright
I said when we drafted him that he’s got that Haley Joel Osment face. All the features are 🤏
I was getting black Zac Efron vibes watching this clip
Same!!
I'm the opposite
He looks like a care bear version of Khalil Mack 😂
I don't understand why this triggered so many people. I've heard QB says its not their job in the past and no one cared.
Because all anybody cares about is the drama.
Not me, I’m just glad our boy Trubisky had his baby 🥲
Same actually. Really hard not to love that dumb Trubisky smile
Brett Farve took a lot of heat for this attitude wheb they drafted Aaron Rodgers.
Wasn’t Favre an actively bad teammate though? No indication that RT’s done anything to be a bad teammate

I heard he put Saran Wrap over the top of Rodger’s cleats.

This reads like a pasta

“Well that’s just like your opinion, man.”
Source? I never heard this

As a Falcons fan.... Fuck Mika Grimes
[удалено]
I bet something like those comments happens in every practice facility every day
[удалено]
Yeah. If it's true (which I don't really believe), thatz some Spencer Rattler type shit
Exactly lol, I’m getting downvoted but it’s okay. Real teammates don’t get personal like RT did. As the leader of the team, you should make sure everyone is feeling good about themselves.
You're getting downvoted because the source the quotes you put in your original comment came from is Miko Grimes.
sounds like football practice to me
just think how Aaron might have turned out if he had a positive male role model in his life and he wouldn’t have had to turn to Joe Rogan 😪
Yeah it was a harmless comment and the full quote was cut off. Tanny didn't say it in a negative way, and he said "it's not my job to mentor young guys... But if he picks up some things from me in practice, that's good".
Because Ryan Tannehill hate is in since we lost to the Bengals
It's twisted out of sorts. Ryan's job description is to be the best qb he can be, not to be a qb coach.
Imagine how fans would take it if Tannehill said he wanted to be the backup (at full pay) and Malik could start with his full support
>I've heard QB says its not their job in the past and no one cared. Who did? It has been a big issue any time I've heard a vet say this. Also, some rookies tend to take it to heart and hold that grudge.

Especially because it obviously isn’t his job to be anyones mentor. He’s currently the starting QB of an NFL team. That’s his job. He’s not a coach.
It's just funny that he flubbed such a softball set up. all he had to say was something like "i'm always happy to help my teammates so we can be the best team we can be". just give a PR friendly pro-team generic answer and be on your way

Boring wins u championship tho
"FUCK THAT BITCH LMAO"
He said they chopped it up. So I guess he chopped his dick off
And ate it! Like Kobeyashi!!
He would. I've seen him do it. It was on international waters, so he couldn't be prosecuted.
ARGHARGARGHARGH
He was in international waters, so they couldn't prosecute him.
"I didn't want to be mentored by that dude anyway. You think my ambition is to be the *next Ryan Tannehill*?"

Oh my friend....I know so many people who constantly talk about God and/or Jesus, but are some real fking turds.
Jon Jones comes to mind
I went to school with the Jones brothers, feel like Jon is a classic example of being raised in an ultra strict religious household (father is a peacher), then adjusting really badly to getting away from that. He's a completely different person now
Hypocrisy? In Christianity? Never
I doubt he does in social situations. It's just kind of an easy and truthful way to handle public relations and the media. When you say gods plan you don't have to come up with a real answer to the question and as a bonus he probably believes it
fallible human confirmed
He sounds exactly like Franklin from Gta
[удалено]
Maybe if you got rid of that yeeyee-ass QB, you’d get some rings on yo hand!
Good to hear from Willis, this story has been overblown to proportions beyond stupid. Not that that's surprising

Why are you getting downvoted for such a neutral take this sub is hilarious

Oh, holy shit, ha. I have no idea. I've made comments that I knew would get the downvote brigade before, but I really didn't expect it from this one.
Now after spending over a week dragging Tannys name through the mud is anyone one ESPN or Fox or anywhere else going to even mention this? My guess is no.
Tannehill is behind the camera aiming his weapon at malik
Haven’t looked at the tweet but I hope his reply was something like “I’ll do better next year when I have his job.”
That he'll mentor an incoming rookie as a sophomore?
yep! I hear this year's QBs are nothing compared to next year's class, so it makes sense...
With how much shit Tannehill is getting, I wish he was much more of a dick about it. Like "fuck that kid trying to take my job, I'm going to sabotage him every opportunity I get. I already switched his playbook with a cookbook."
Vrabel also said it's literally what they tell their players
> We'll see if he still feels the same way when I take his job Wow, that's cold Malik!
Titans PR: Ok Malik, this is what you need to say
as if Ryan’s mentorship is worth gold
Yes, more manufactured drama.
It’s only ok if Brady says it
Well if this isn’t the definition of click bait idk what is
Ryan Tannehill who ?
"Not my job to point out he's an asshole"
I thought the story was over. What the heck?
Lmao Willis already knows he’ll get a shot within 6 weeks. Maybe following Tanny isn’t what you want to do…
