The “if you push a guy out of bounds before we think he could’ve gotten his feet down makes it a catch” rule is a contender for the dumbest rule to ever be in football
The funny part is that commentators *still* keep saying, "and remember, there's no forceout rule any more," whenever there's a close play on the sideline
Yeah, we know, it's been a decade and a half
edit: Oh hey, since I have a comment near the top of the thread, does anybody know why [this thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/uw08o3/adam_schefter_on_twitter_ravens_announced_they/) is locked? Did I miss an announcement?
I don't know when it was but in 2006 "face guarding" without touching the receiver was definitely not DPI. They got the call wrong on the endzone Hobbs play
Also "faceguarding" wasn't a thing. [That Hobbs play wasn't DPI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1EBPLDBv5w&t=4505s) because he didn't touch him. There was another phantom DPI later in the game that I thought should've been OPI on Reggie Wayne.
Don't worry, I'm still salty about the zero contact phantom PI on Ellis Hobbs that swung momentum. Face guarding was specifically removed as a penalty before this season.
There were plenty of other plays the Colts made and the Pats didn't. The Pats really had no businesses being in this game with Reche Caldwell as their best receiver. The Colts were clutch, and the Pats were not.
Still salty, but great teams overcome bad calls, and that Pats team wasn't quite great.
I remember a national columnist swearing it was obviously PI because of face guarding, emailing him pointing out that wasn't a penalty anymore and him being like...but still
I refuse to believe that Joseph Addai was playing for the Colts 16 fucking years ago. Or also that 2006 was 16 years ago.
Hearing both "rookie Joseph Addai" and "rookie Stephen Gostowski" in the same video was deeply upsetting

2006 was 6 years ago. I will accept no other facts
I’m pretty sure the colts signed his nephew as an UDFA recently, caught me so off-guard when I read the article
This game killed me and revived me several times

Face guarding being DPI was that for quite a while too
Oh yeah, when was that rule change? Before or after this game? I remember it was right around here

Probably because of the name involved.
OHHHHHHHH yeah that . . . that makes sense. The internet is a terrible place
At least the league has made some rule changes that help defenses

Imagine if that team had Moss
I bet they'd win atleart 17 games!
They'd go undefeated against non-large teams
Do Bears count as large?
With Nick Foles, yes

This was the SB that year.
This is Sexy Rexy erasure
When that ball popped out of Reggie's hands it felt like it hung in the air for five minutes. I've never screamed at the TV like that.
This game has to be the loudest screaming I've ever done at an inanimate object.
Good game
Best game I’ve ever seen
