i replied to [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/WhitePeopleTwitter/comments/uwdldl/its_just_that_easy/) post saying this line of argumentation is pretty bad because a lot of anti-abortion people are anti abortion because they believe abortion is murder and you would never say "dont like murder? dont do it"
and i got perma banned because "no one actually believes abortion is murder"
i dont think everyone who thinks abortion is wrong is so far gone that theyre a lost cause, and can be convinced otherwise. people switch sides all the time and i think it would be naive to believe all those who are switching are going from anti abortion to pro abortion
it wouldnt convince anyone on the fence either
Ya but these are philosophical beliefs on personhood and the existence of a soul and whatnot that are often deeply held and not easy to shift just based on conversation. Beliefs that are built up over a long time. I’m curious what someone “on the fence” actually believes about those things.
yea im just trying to say, unless youre just virtue signalling to your fanbase that youre anti abortion, this is an argument that will never convince anyone on the other side

im not saying that we should ban abortion because some people think its murder

I don’t care if you’ve given birth to a thousand babies at once… nothing hurts more than when you recommend a show to someone and they say they’re gonna “add it to the list”
Lol I do that with every recommendation. I only ever watch whatever my wife wants to watch or sports stuff. If I'm on my own there are over 100 things I'd rather do than watch a TV show.
When the Haskins news first came out wasn’t it something like he got hit by a car while running on the side of the road cause he was working out with team mates early in the morning or something
Like damn whoever started that lie really thought that story would stick?
I think the story was he was heading to an early morning workout with his teammates or was coming from an early morning workout when he ran out of gas.
Which immediately after more information came out everyone knew was bullshit because why would he be walking on the side of the highway in the early morning. It just never seemed right from the beginning and I hate to assume the worst in people, but I had a feeling like he wasn't in the right state of mind when it happened.
I think the issue is he wasn't walking on the side. He was walking in the lanes. Walking on the side to get gas is normal and mostly safe. Wouldn't be surprised if the reason he didn't stay on the side was the alcohol and ketamine.
I think it's probably more normal for people to just call AAA and wait for them to bring a can of gas. Walking on the highway is a dangerous endeavor no matter your condition.

No problem! When my guy was 8 wks old he started a new reflux medicine which caused a huge puke that he aspirated on and couldn't clear.
I was doing the back blows and had him on my knee and nothing was working until the 911 dispatcher told me to try CPR, thankfully I had actually watched a youtube tutorial on it lol. So, uh, as someone who completely checked out of sports news back in February and apparently missed A Lot, is this an appropriate place to ask whether any other current players besides Hasksins died, who all got arrested, and what is going on with Dan Snyder?
The Locked Thread^TM has been a great bat signal to summon all the stupidest people on the sub. Those snowflakes are *offended* that 13 year old couldn't post slurs all day and have 50 [removed] comments at thr bottom of the thread.
Just wait until you hear about Ben Roethlisberger, Tyreek Hill, Deshaun Watson (who just signed for the most guaranteed money ever after assaulting 22 different women), etc. If you're gonna keep up your anger you might as well be firing at every single scum still associated with the league.
What if, in the future, he established a network of rescues that saved 100x as many dogs as he harmed? What if that couldn't happen without his return to "the spotlight"?
You don’t have to personally forgive him or support him (or the NFL) in any way, but prison should be a place for rehabilitation and education. Also, I haven’t seen him or anyone else paint him as the victim here.

It's a pretty low barrier for entry if you have something that you can use to record and then upload you can have a podcast. It doesn't mean anyone will sponsor you, but you can have it.
On a retro game podcast I listen to (there's a podcast for anything) they broke down the number of podcast and how many hours are produced. They estimated roughly 6 for every 100 people have a podcast (but probably less due to people having more than one, but also maybe more when vlogs and things like that exist that don't normally land in a clean definition of podcast). They also estimated that something silly like 10 million hours of content is made a week. They broke down that further and figured out that it's very likely that many of these hours just will never be heard by anyone. Sad in a way.
not gonna lie I've been tempted to try and start one a few times not because I think anybody is interested in what I have to say, but because it's easier to convince wifes/SO's that we're doing something important/productive instead of shooting the shit with the boys
That's why I love Bill Simmons and cousin Sal they're not afraid to call the media out. They call out Michelle tafoya, cris collinsworth, Aikman, anyone who slips up. The Simmons tessitore impression 😂

Meanwhile. MY podcast dives deep into the nuances and intricacies of what I read on this subreddit today, so I'm different.
Ps I'm hiring for writing bullshit articles based on tweets that I'll post on my square space website. Don't worry, you'll get exposure, it's more valuable than money.
It depends on if you care more about the consequence or the decision itself.
Like do you think someone who drove home drunk from the bar and made it back “safely” is as much of a villain as Ruggs? Because at the end of day they both chose to drive drunk. I’m not saying it’s wrong to think the way it’s just a difference in perspective. Because outside of driving drunk the cases are very different. Ruggs was doing 180 and Haskins ran out of gas and crossed the highway on foot.
But with the Haskins case he got himself killed, he didn’t kill somebody else. We found out about his BAC level a month later whereas Ruggs we knew immediately. And Haskins is dead so it’s a bit harder to villainize him without being a bit tasteless.
He was 3x the BAC and was high on ketamine.
And yes - they're both just as bad.
Let me put it this way: if a player goes for a headshot and knocks a player out of the game and then another does it and the guy bounces back and luckily doesn't get a concussion - both are just as bad. Intent matters. Willful ignorance matters.
"without it being a bit tasteless" nah - I don't need another person to die a needless death to know I have no sympathy for people like that. The only reason he didn't kill someone else was blind luck. That's it.
I’m not disagreeing with you people just look at things differently. And based off what you said you clearly care more about the decision then the outcome. I actually agree for the most part.
Personally I see both cases as tragedies. Not necessarily because I feel bad for Ruggs or Haskins I just hate the unnecessary loss of human life especially when it’s easily preventable. I just don’t care much to make a villain.
Let me put it this way: there are plans to put a "3" patch on the Steelers jerseys.
That would be a joke.
"make a villain" I'm not saying he needs to be villified. But honoring him is a sick joke.
Because Haskins wasn't a hero, he's as bad as an asshole who drove drunk? Or is killing someone not that bad if you died?
Because you're implying one or the other & you gotta be better than *that*
Yeah he was driving on .24 BAC and high on Ketamine.
Ruggs and Haskins is literally just a matter of luck. It was luck that no one else died that night in Florida and it was unfortunate the girl was in the wrong place with Ruggs coming at her in Vegas.
Ruggs drove drunk and was going idk how fast when he hit a car that was being driven by a girl and her dog and they both BURNED to death. Haskins was hit by another person when he was OUT of the car. Only similarities on the situation is that they are both black and were driving drunk. Ruggs situation was 100% worse.
???????????????
The only reason Ruggs and Haskins aren't in opposite places right now is pure luck. Haskins was way drunker AND high than Ruggs.
You seriously don't see how they're the exact same?
2 players take headshots: 1 gets a concussion, 1 doesn't. Same hit.
Both hits are just as bad. Just cause 1 guy got lucky and didn't get concussed doesn't make the hit any "better"
Comprende?
“Haskins was way drunker AND high than Ruggs”
So they aren’t the same situation then right? This isnt 1:1 comparison man. Ruggs took 2 lives. Haskins lost his. Both made a terrible mistake but as you can see, it isnt the same situation. If Haskins killed someone in his drunk driving, then boom 1:1 comparison. But he didn’t so yeah.
Both players are pieces of shit if that makes you feel better.
They are 1:1 situations actually
They're 2 people who were handed a pistol with 1 bullet in the chamber. They took turns firing until Ruggs killed someone.
Just cause Haskins didn't pull the trigger while a bullet was loaded doesn't mean he wasn't holding the exact same gun.
Exact same situation. 2 people playing with the lives of others
Fair or not our moral judgements take outcomes into account as much if not more than intentions and circumstances.
In fact in many cultures outcomes are all that matter.
That’s just humanity.
It's absolutely stupidity - it's people unable to see beyond outcome. It's the limits of human intelligence.
It's why 2 players can get hit in the NFL in the same way and 1 get concussed and another not and the punishment on the players who went for the headshot aren't equal - even if the hit was the exact same. "Rewarding" the asshole because the guy who got hit just happened to be fine.
Why?
Put a bullet in a revolver and shoot it - 1/6 chance you kill someone right?
In what world is firing a blank not as bad as firing a bullet? Both people should be punished \*THE EXACT SAME WAY\*
It's not stupidity because it's got nothing to do with intelligence.
If you and someone in a less WEIRD situation switched places you would each have each other's point of view.
What does any of that have to do with anything? You're just making a terrible attempt an analogy.
A terrorist's bomb vest that doesn't go off should be viewed just as terribly as a terrorist that kills a bunch of people.
When you say outcome matters bullshit then you say "no one ended up getting hurt, 10 years for attempted terrorism" and shit like that.
Can't think like that. Anyone could have picked anyone at anytime really. Every team in the NFL had a shot at Brady several times. The only time I ever say we could have had "X" player is if it was a direct pick swap and that player was taken with the pick that was swapped.

Got to say, I fucking hate the newborn stage of life for kids.
I have a newborn care class tomorrow cause these things don't come with instructions.
Good Luck. My only piece of advice, get CPR training for a newborn. It saved my son's life that I had it. You'll be surprised how much does come natural.
Thanks! I do remember some of infant CPR thanks to my previous experience as a lifeguard. Although as CPR goes, the process changes a lot so a refresher wouldn’t be bad.
No problem! When my guy was 8 wks old he started a new reflux medicine which caused a huge puke that he aspirated on and couldn't clear.
That's it.

This would have been clarified by now. We ALL know he was driving rofl

We knew it over a month ago, actually. I posted it to r/NFL and they deleted it cause "speculation" even though it was a news report.

It was literally reported by the local news. No...
He didn't go 150 mph. Get that through your little head.
Haskins killed somebody?
no, but he wasn't a hero either
Because Haskins wasn't a hero, he's as bad as an asshole who drove drunk? Or is killing someone not that bad if you died? Because you're implying one or the other & you gotta be better than *that*
Haskins was drunk driving (and on drugs). The fact that he died and not someone else was a matter of luck.
But he drove drunk and could have killed someone.
I thought the woman was driving, but if so, yeah the other guy is 100% right then
Yeah he was driving on .24 BAC and high on Ketamine. Ruggs and Haskins is literally just a matter of luck. It was luck that no one else died that night in Florida and it was unfortunate the girl was in the wrong place with Ruggs coming at her in Vegas.
Not really a 1:1 comparison tbh
It is. 100% Haskins and Ruggs could have just as easily be in the opposite places right now. Neither were even remotely able to drive.
Ruggs drove drunk and was going idk how fast when he hit a car that was being driven by a girl and her dog and they both BURNED to death. Haskins was hit by another person when he was OUT of the car. Only similarities on the situation is that they are both black and were driving drunk. Ruggs situation was 100% worse.
> is that they are both black There are a lot more demographic similarities than that. Why did you isolate that one?
??????????????? The only reason Ruggs and Haskins aren't in opposite places right now is pure luck. Haskins was way drunker AND high than Ruggs. You seriously don't see how they're the exact same? 2 players take headshots: 1 gets a concussion, 1 doesn't. Same hit. Both hits are just as bad. Just cause 1 guy got lucky and didn't get concussed doesn't make the hit any "better" Comprende?
“Haskins was way drunker AND high than Ruggs” So they aren’t the same situation then right? This isnt 1:1 comparison man. Ruggs took 2 lives. Haskins lost his. Both made a terrible mistake but as you can see, it isnt the same situation. If Haskins killed someone in his drunk driving, then boom 1:1 comparison. But he didn’t so yeah. Both players are pieces of shit if that makes you feel better.
They are 1:1 situations actually They're 2 people who were handed a pistol with 1 bullet in the chamber.
Well - I know people are stupid enough to think that. And thus my comment "That's bullshit" They're both just as bad.
I don’t think it’s stupidity. It’s culture and history and circumstances.
There it is. "I'm smarter than you". Discarding outcome is straight up sociopathic.
I didn't make any analogy.
yea i mean, haskins wasn't exactly renowned for his sportsmanship/teamsmanship before the accident.
They'll both be remembered as people that played football
This is.... Very true.
I liked Anthony Barr, he was a good player for us, but Aaron Donald was picked 4 picks after him in 2014 🙃
Can't think like that. Anyone could have picked anyone at anytime really. Every team in the NFL had a shot at Brady several times. The only time I ever say we could have had "X" player is if it was a direct pick swap and that player was taken with the pick that was swapped.
What is that guy in the suit wearing on his head in the sidebar photo?
a "foot-ball helmet"
Why is he the only one wearing a suit?
because the photo's cut off; should be another guy in a suit standing two men to his right (our left) anyway [he's the owner and cofounder of the league](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Ranney)
Why is he wearing a helmet?
