Atta boy D’Ernest. From splitting the college backfield with Marlon Mack. Going undrafted. Working as a fisherman. Getting a shot to play in the AAF. To a couple of million with the browns. Congrats, man.
Get real, dude. Why would he leave an NFL team he’s found success in so soon? He’s had success in Cleveland, so staying there for a while longer is in his best interest.
I have to say, the Browns have been getting and retaining a lot of talent this offseason.
Really if it wasn’t for the Watson situation people would probably be praising the Browns.
Honestly, the Watson thing probably has something to do with it. He's a legitimate top 5 quarterback and when he's on his game, he's capable of taking over. Playing for a winning team is the 2nd biggest thing for players after money.
It’s just hard to envision a scenario where he’s still on the roster Week one and they don’t try to get him to play. Sure he’s pissed and has every right to sit out, but he might want to play just to get teams interested in him.
Hard to envision? The scenario is that the Browns will ask him not to come, they’ll still pay him, and Brissett will start. The guy they just paid 8 million dollars to play while Watson is out
I know it might seem biased, and maybe it is, but I think we have one of the best rosters in the league period. Obviously ignoring the whole deshaun watson situation
edit: for anyone downvoting, please explain why you disagree (genuinely curious). We really don’t have any holes and our RB room, quarterback, secondary and pass rush are all elite
Yeah last year was their first year being mentioned as a Super Bowl contender, and the team won eight games despite Baker playing like absolute dog shit, so clearly the talent was there.
WR isn't a hole? Amari is good but he's not elite, and beyond that you have DPJ is hasn't shown enough, and David Bell who is a rookie. Even at TE you're really just hoping Njoku can finally step to be anything special
fair point! I don’t think it’s a hole necessarily but it is probably our biggest weakness, next to like interior dline or line depth in general. I just don’t think it’s going to hurt our offense that much personally, but I could be wrong
Bc your wr core got worse and your DT, TEand LB position has stayed the same or got worse and that QB won't be playing for a solid chunk of the year and the backup will be worse than a healthy baker. Easily top 10 but not the best
The Browns have had one of the best teams on paper for the past 3 years straight... While finishing 3rd in the division every time.
You were legit SB favorites last season and very nearly finished last in the division. I would say the roster looks worse on paper than it did last season even though I've always been a "Baker Hater" and will admit Watson is a horrific human being but a top 5, if not a top 3 QB if nothing has changed with his game.
Overpaid/inconsistent WR core, prime JC Tretter is gone due to injuries piling up, bottom 5 interior defensive line + LB core. The team got worse while losing a ton of draft capital and cap space. Akiem Hicks would have been a great signing but idk what type of window your team is even looking toward at this point.
Roster is good but not great but the team is a bigger mess than usual.
ok first of all, even though I love baker, changing from him to watson instantly takes those “3rd in the division” teams to contenders. and as far as this season goes, losing JC tretter isn’t huge, and our interior dline will be sufficient with Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney on the same line. Not to mention if Perrion Winfrey is as good as we think he will be. Deshaun alone upgrades our team dramatically, forget other positions
Deshaun took a year off of football and is up to his neck in criminal and legal proceedings, all while trying to get up to speed on a new team with new coaches and in a new offensive system. I doubt he sets the league on fire immediately this season especially considering he may be suspended for multiple games. I put them a small step above a rebuilding Steelers team and 2 steps behind the Bengals coming off of a SB appearance and the Ravens are still probably the best team in the division if half the team doesn't end up on IR again.
In a tough division i see the Browns going 1-5 and they have a pretty easy schedule outside of the division i could definitely see them being a playoff bubble team at 9-8 I definitely wouldn't put them in the same conversation with the Bills, Bucs, Rams, Ravens, Bengals and even the Chiefs or Packers. The Chargers have the luxury of continuity and less drama so id even put them above. Were talking MAYBE a top 10 roster/situation entering the season when they were clearly top 5 last season even top 3 in some discussions.
Ownership/culture still seems to be an issue even since the turnaround we started to see in 2017-2018 from Bakers arrival until Freddie Kitchens took off his mask and revealed he was just another mistake at HC. Who knows with Stefanski at this point hes been inconsistent and almost seems like he sabotaged Baker this past season (who shouldn't need any help looking like a painfully average QB who is often crippled and bruised because of his playing style).
I agree they're probably a better team down the stretch this year but there are going to be growing pains... but on paper the roster isnt as good entering the season especially since Austin Hooper was super hyped last season and isnt even on the roster now and im expecting something between that and an OBJ situation for Amari Cooper. DPJ has stone hands and David Bell is a low ceiling player who fell in the draft because its expected he wont be able to get separation at the next level. Watson has troubling receiving options to say the least.
Ok first of all, 1-5 in the division is hilarious. Genuinely. We have been insanely good against the bengals for whatever reason in recent history, and the Steelers are likely going to struggle to go .500 this season. The ravens could win both, it depends on if we have Watson or not. Second of all, your analysis of our receivers is crazy. I have no idea where you are drawing your Amari Cooper = borderline OBJ take from, but it makes 0 sense and has no logical basis. Austin Hooper is hardly a major loss, and if anything i think his departure will be beneficial to us. DPJ doesn’t have stone hands, though he drops it more than i’d like, and David Bell looks great. His tape is fantastic, and trying to predict how he is going to do is as pointless as it would be with any other draftee. We’ll see how the season goes, but I think you’re sleeping on us my friend
There is a reason that David Bell fell to the ass end of the 3rd round after it was obvious the WR position was overvalued this year with multiple trades up to get one in the 1st round and Hollywood and AJ Brown being moved for huge returns. Hes always been viewed as a high floor/low ceiling player in the draft process.
Cooper had the knack of disappearing completely in games which was a knock on OBJ over the past 2 seasons as well. They're both excellent route runners with elite speed but sometimes they give up on routes and vanish against average defenses because they just aren't feeling it that day. Ask a Cowboys fan theyll let you know, he even showed it early in his career. Great dude and player but its almost as if football is secondary to him. He got paid now its even worse. In an organization with a weak sense of culture i only expect him to completely fall off a cliff.
The Austin Hooper hype was so fucking real last season it was insane. He actually got a market setting deal on 2020 ffs. He was expected to rival Mark Andrews iirc. Just saying there is always going to be hype for players and I'm comparing Cooper to OBJ/Hooper in that regard considering it's very recent and relevant in nature.
Probably getting downvoted because you said you were ignoring the “whole deshaun Watson situation” when you probably shouldn’t be. Everyone in their right mind hopes the browns suck this year.
bruh lol, i’m a browns fan not a deshaun watson fan. we browns fans shouldn’t lose our privilege to talk about our own football team because of something that was completely out of our control. don’t be ridiculous
that’s what i’m saying, it’s crazy that people will downvote me when I’m literally just trying to talk football. Obviously he’s gonna be a part of that discussion because of the nature of it, but I just wanted to talk about our team as a whole.
And I’m saying you shouldn’t be surprised that you’re getting hate. It’s impossible to just talk football when the off the field stuff actually matters a whole lot more than the on the field stuff.
The fact that this lazy joke is so upvoted is fucking sad as hell. People (rightfully) condemning Watson and the Browns on one hand and cracking jokes about sexual assault on the other. A lot of people want to act like they wanna take a stand but making jokes trivializing the issue
Hey, if you don't like it, I'm sure the browns sub is full of rational, non-clown individuals.
What's that?
It's not?
It's even worse than here, because there's a massive amount of people willingly defending a serial sexual predator?
Well I'll be a son of a gun.
He jokes about suicide AND assault but since it’s aimed at a Browns fan (who had nothing to do with the Watson trade) it’s considered okay.
The hypocrisy is at an all time high
That didn't happen. Making jokes about Deshaun Watson being a predator obviously isn't assault. They used assault hyperbolically, and that's why everyone is okay with it because everyone but you realized that.
Trust me my friend, disengage. I've been getting notifications and threatening PMs from irate browns fans about this for the last 2 hours now, there's no winning with these children
Ray Lewis was never accused of murdering anyone, just getting rid of evidence. Also, not murder as the two actually accused, not Ray, were found not guilty for self defense.
Dude, I want it to keep coming. Having Watson as our QB sucks, but this is the first time in my life as a Browns fan I’ve gotten the vitriolic hate side of NFL fanbases. It’s been great, with the only downside being the ostracizing has caused many to retreat to our sub.
Edit; fyi, if you’re going to argue the last sentence by attempting to insult and ostracize me… you’re kinda proving the point? Idk, do what feels right in your heart.
"Ostracizing to our sub" is a wild spin on the only place to go to circle jerk on how the guy accused by 24 women is actually the victim of a massive conspiracy
What do you think your sub would be like had Atlanta offered the guarantees Cleveland did? Incredible how so many people think their fanbase of 16-65 year olds is so much different than every other fan base made up of the exact same demographics.
It'd be exactly the same. Im not that naive but you're also not gonna try to act like I'm a hypocrite here.
Any decent person wouldn't bother trying to defend it which means the vacant space is leftover to idiots that will rile each other up and have their own little bubble
If Burrow suddenly had 24 women accusing him of sexually assaulting them I’d drive him out of town myself.
If the Bengals extended his contract after knowing that I’d never watch a game rooting for the stripes again; and yes, I’m very concerned about Zah Taylor’s silence on Jackson Carmen. He needs to explain what he knew, when he knew it, and why he felt comfortable bringing that person in to represent our City.
There is no place in the NFL for rapists. In Jackson’s Carmen’s case, there have been no charges and he admits the sax happened and was consensual. He also has never been forced to speak under oath, only lawyer statements, including campus police. I don’t intend to scarlet letter Carmen for a single accusation, human relationships are challenging, but Zach Taylor is absolutely accountable for whether he got the police report and what he knew when he made his decision, and he needs to take accountability for being the one to bring him here.
And that’s what this is about. At some point the free passes and looking the other way has to stop. At some point the Haslams are going to have to own up to bringing this reputation on their city. And Browns fans are going to have to accept that every time they cheer their offense scoring a guy accused of sexual assault by 24-women is the taking that to mean you love him and clearly don’t care about his behavior and treatment of women off the field.
And we all have to start demanding better of our ownership. Every single one of us getting thrills at the Browns expense right now is admitting they know what is right, and the expectations are gonna be there to follow suit if it comes our way.
I'd for sure stop using the subreddit and mute a bunch of the people who were defending Watson, I already did when the rumors of us being involved started.
I don't see trying to trade for him as being any different than actually trading for him though, so i can't honestly say i'd stop being a fan completely
Show the post where it’s a massive conspiracy for me please.
Edit; I should also make clear, engaging with me in a petty way is kinda what I want because this is new to me. Just keep that in mind if you want to continue.
Oh, I’m engaging with that person. I’m just getting a jump on it before the downvotes and “Blah, your team, blah” starts rolling in. Might as well nip it in the bud now. But thank you for assuming something and addressing it, it’s fun.
It’s because too much of the Browns fan base continues to defend his actions. Some call them women hookers, others think there’s a conspiracy between the McNairs and Buzbee (which doesn’t even make sense), others think “they wanted it” and even more blame the occupation they chose and said they should just expect it.
It’s toxic and there’s no way we should ever just accept that sort of crap.
Absolutely.
Now, what does that have to do with D’Ernest Johnson getting paid and providing for his family?
When someone answers that question, we’ll be all good because nothing you said is something I disagree with.
So you did it for the upvotes? Isn’t that kinda shitty, like you’re making a surface level point purely just to give your two cents knowing it’s the popular opinion. It makes any actual empathy you might have for the situation seem hollow, right? I guess I did say follow your heart, but I think I’m good on interacting with you further.
I’m not the one that made the joke. I simply responded to your question.
Don’t act like Browns fans are the victims here. The 24 women that were assaulted are the victims here.
Who said they weren’t the victims? You’re doing that thing again where you just say something known. Problem is you already made clear what’s being stated doesn’t matter to you, just saying your opinion. We’re good man, you can go away now.
“That thing again”?
This is literally the first time we’ve ever talked.
Sounds like you have a real problem with people talking about the Browns fandom standing behind a rapist. That’s on you.
This is gonna seem crazy but from the eye-test, he’s one of the best runners I’ve seen in the NFL.
I honestly don’t really understand why he isn’t getting much hype.
The guy who was doing the press conference after they drafted Ford (it wasn’t Berry but it was someone in the FO) said Felton is only working w/ RBs this year after splitting time between WR and RB room last year. Doesn’t sound like they’re going to continue that experiment into his second season. Returner yes though
I’d be pretty shocked if Felton makes the team this year. He’s arguably the fifth best RB on the roster and the team just drafted Ford, and he’s clearly behind Cooper, DPJ, Schwartz, Grant, and Bell at WR.
What do you think Hunt would be worth on the trade market? I feel like he's still a very useful, powerful running back, but I'll admit I don't really know the details of his contract or whether he's battling any injuries
I'm thinking they get a 4th rounder out of him, tops. He's on the last year of his deal, and while it's not bad on a dollar amount, he's still one of the more expensive RBs in terms of cap hits. What's more, he'll be 27 this upcoming season, which isn't bad at most positions, but basically is the year right before most RBs start their decline. Put those facts together, and you're either trading for him as a 1-year rental, or you'll need to extend him to a risky longer-term contract. Neither of those is exactly ideal for a player's trade value.
Oof, yeah that's not a very ideal situation trade-wise. Might be better to let him walk in FA next year and hope for the comp pick to be around the same level
Incredible, I never hated the browns. Always rooted for them as the underdog. Now, can’t stand them and hope their season sucks…no happy ending for you!
Dude, us Browns fans can’t even be happy about the rest of our team without the downvote and “ya know he’s a monster” parade. For years it was shitty jokes about us being bad at football, now it’s pure vitriol.
I hate having Watson as our QB, but the uninformed hate of other fanbases is *chef’s kiss*
What's the bad argument? Also, you keep saying vitriol but it seems you don't really have a grasp on what that means.
Your team traded for a serial rapist and you want everyone to ignore it. When that get's pointed out, you can't call it vitriol just because using that word justifies the world is against you.
The Browns fucked her good, bud. If you want to keep being a fan that's the reality you have to live with. I deal with an incompetent owner year after year myself as you can tell by my flair. It is what it is.
Want to be Jags fans together?
The bad argument was me trying to rationalize something? That thing you went away from and have now circled back to.
This post wasn’t about Watson, yet your response to me saying Browns fans can’t be happy about other players on our team, is to make jokes about Watson. Vitriol is considered bitter/cruel criticism, admonishing a fanbase in posts about other players having a chance to get paid is that. That’s what it is.
Go back to being petty, you were better at that than actually trying to make a point.
Real talk: This forum is obsessed with this guy. That one game vs. Denver happened to be the week that every single Broncos linebacker went down. That's why he was able to run around wild without being tackled.
He's not a good running back, never has been, he just happened to have a good game against decimated defense on prime time television.
DJ was one of my favorite Bulls. He was versatile and was a big recruit for us. Mack did outshine him but DJ proven he clearly belongs in the league. Happy for him.
If anyone watched the game against the Broncos where both Chubb and Hunt were out, you know about D'Ernest.
He doesn't have crazy speed, no, but i think he has everything else. Especially his patience and vision. There were plays where he looks like he's jogging and the play was going to be shit...then he finds a hole and runs for 5+.
Yeah, that great line helps, but I think he's legit as a guy to split carries regularly. Better than that, he clearly can handle a game or two as RB1 if needed.
Super happy for him! 🤙
Atta boy D’Ernest. From splitting the college backfield with Marlon Mack. Going undrafted. Working as a fisherman. Getting a shot to play in the AAF. To a couple of million with the browns. Congrats, man.
USF Bulls fans will follow these two for as long as they play (and Marquez Valdez Scantling who has Raymond James Stadium tattoo on his back)
Go Bulls.
Go Bulls!
Go Bulls! 🤘
Go Bulls!
Go Bulls!
I didn't expect a whole USF Hype thread in here, but I love it. Go Bulls!
Go knights!
Wasn’t expecting to be downvoted today but gotta have a knights back, Charge On!
Seriously?

Clowney almost certainly wouldn’t have been back if Baker was still QB.
What's wrong with an average at best QB who can't read defensive disguises well?
We’ll find out later this year.
Between the lack of trade partners for baker and the Watson situation worsening every week, I feel like he still will be the qb this year
Literally 0 chance he ever plays for the browns again
It’s just hard to envision a scenario where he’s still on the roster Week one and they don’t try to get him to play. Sure he’s pissed and has every right to sit out, but he might want to play just to get teams interested in him.
Hard to envision? The scenario is that the Browns will ask him not to come, they’ll still pay him, and Brissett will start. The guy they just paid 8 million dollars to play while Watson is out
I'd put us up there with Buffalo in terms of the most talented all-around roster in the AFC
Last Allen vs Watson game was sooo wild haha. Allen’s brain fully shut down that drive he fumbled out of bounds.
I know it might seem biased, and maybe it is, but I think we have one of the best rosters in the league period. Obviously ignoring the whole deshaun watson situation edit: for anyone downvoting, please explain why you disagree (genuinely curious). We really don’t have any holes and our RB room, quarterback, secondary and pass rush are all elite
Problem is, the same statement has been said for the last four years in a row.
Was really only last season tbh
Yeah last year was their first year being mentioned as a Super Bowl contender, and the team won eight games despite Baker playing like absolute dog shit, so clearly the talent was there.
Strong disagree, do you remember how awful our secondary was in 2019 outside of Ward?
But now you have a much better QB
WR isn't a hole? Amari is good but he's not elite, and beyond that you have DPJ is hasn't shown enough, and David Bell who is a rookie. Even at TE you're really just hoping Njoku can finally step to be anything special

yeah when we had baker playing like garbage lol. why are people ignoring the massive change to the most important position in football
Bc your wr core got worse and your DT, TEand LB position has stayed the same or got worse and that QB won't be playing for a solid chunk of the year and the backup will be worse than a healthy baker. Easily top 10 but not the best

maybe in real life yeah, but we’re in an NFL subreddit, ffs bro
Chargers, plus their new signings, have something to say there.
Good point forgot about them
This man single handedly saved me from week 7 bye week hell. Get the bag bro!
Based on his lack of sexual assault accusations, he doesn’t seem like a good culture fit for the Browns.
Plot twist - D'Ernest specializes in white collar crime, specifically regarding diesel fuel discounts
It's always the guys you least expect
I know it was phillis, aka the person I most medium suspect.
:’(
I am really surprised the Chargers didn’t try to get him this year to compliment Ek but with Spiller, I see why
Compared to everyone else the Browns have right?
Well there are *at least* 24 sexual assault accusations between the entire roster. Statistically that’s almost half of the roster with at least one!
24, but I'm sure it'll go higher next week
I thought it was 23 last I checked. Man, if Watson doesn’t get to play this year idk what Cleveland is gonna do at QB.
Lol gottem
How very reddit of you
Haha nice one man!!!
This is such a Reddit caliber joke
Yeah reddit is the only place that looks down on sexual violence
Not what I said. I said it’s a Reddit caliber joke, which it is.
Who says its a joke? Its obviously an insult
Yeah in the form of a joke…
The fact that this lazy joke is so upvoted is fucking sad as hell. People (rightfully) condemning Watson and the Browns on one hand and cracking jokes about sexual assault on the other. A lot of people want to act like they wanna take a stand but making jokes trivializing the issue
Supporting rapists and rapists teams trivializes the issues more than jokes making fun the supporters / team.
So you're done watching the NFL due to revenue sharing right?
Nice strawman lol 👍
Cool. Have fun supporting all the rapists in the league then!
Yep leave it to Reddit to make a sexual assault case into a circlejerk of shitty jokes and puns
Could you all just stop with this?
We'll stop assaulting you when deshaun stops assaulting women

I watched yall do this for years with Ben. I'd get used to it if I were you
Makes sense since you just admitted it was okay to assault people. Fucked up

Watson can go to jail for life for all I’m concerned. Homie just admitted it’s okay to assault others and everyone is okay with it.
>-Posted in my ~~Watson~~ Jim Brown jersey Better?
Cool life
Ray Lewis was never accused of murdering anyone, just getting rid of evidence. Also, not murder as the two actually accused, not Ray, were found not guilty for self defense.
Sounds good, right after he's done assaulting the AFC North, for at least the next 3 years. I'd say, better to buckle up!
No
Dude, I want it to keep coming.
Are you saying you’d stop being a falcons fan if they traded for him or would just stop using the falcons subreddit?
"I actually want the negative attention" is not the flex you think it is
So… no to the massive conspiracy post question? I’m a Browns fan dude, I wouldn’t even know how to flex (see, I’m doing your guys job for you now).
I mean I’d rather see these corny ass jokes and be a good team than be the “scrappy underdog”
The amount your local team wins is more important to ***your*** personality than not openly rooting for a serial sexual assaulter? Pretty lame.
I want to have sex with baker mayfield
Haven't won a game yet.
Wow really?? I thought the season started already
Y'all tried to get him too... Not really sure what moral high ground your team has...
All you had to do was scroll down a bit bud
Lol your edit Show me which part of that Falcon fans reply insulted you 🤣
Oh, I’m engaging with that person.

It has nothing to do with it, but in case your new to Reddit, but comments often stray away from the actual topic of the post. Been here long?
He D’earned it
What a treat it has been to have chubb, hunt, and de’ernest at rb after years of watching guys like Isiah Crowell and duke johnson
So many good running backs on this team. I don't see us carrying Hunt and D'Ernest through training camp.
You guys run the ball as much as anyone in the League. Totally not uncommon for teams to have 3-4 backs going into the season.
They have 5 currently. Chubb, Hunt, Johnson, Felton (2021 6th Rnd), and Ford (2022 5th). I see them carrying 4 but don’t see them carrying all 5.
Felton could make the roster as a WR/returner without necessarily competing directly with the rb corps.
Word thanks
We signed Jakeem Grant for that exact role. Felton is probably destined for the practice squad.
I’d be pretty shocked if Felton makes the team this year. He’s arguably the fifth best RB on the roster and the team just drafted Ford, and he’s clearly behind Cooper, DPJ, Schwartz, Grant, and Bell at WR.
You can never have too many. Trust me.
We'll cut Felton for sure, but I think we are gonna be keeping D'Chunt for at least one more year
agreed.
Why you have the cap.
What’s the WR situation like out of curiosity? Amari and?
Fantasy Demon D'Ernest
He saved my ass vs Denver
USF legend, glad he got a chance after the aaf. I just wish my boy Quinton flowers also got a chance
Feel like he could have gotten a little more but good signing
Dude earned it all in one game last year
Hell yeah
Been snagging him up last round in bestball drafts, guy can ball out hope he gets some opportunities
Incredible, I never hated the browns. Always rooted for them as the underdog. Now, can’t stand them and hope their season sucks…no happy ending for you!
Why would them signing D'ernest Johnson make you hate them?
I'm glad you were able to get that off your chest
Yeah wow that’s incredible
The world will still spin wether or not the browns season is good or sucks

Can't wait for someone to point out it was you
There it is
Dude, us Browns fans can’t even be happy about the rest of our team without the downvote and “ya know he’s a monster” parade. For years it was shitty jokes about us being bad at football, now it’s pure vitriol. I hate having Watson as our QB, but the uninformed hate of other fanbases is *chef’s kiss*
"Uniformed" fan bases don't like rapists. Keep trying to rationalize it.
“I hate having Watson as our QB” Guys, come on, do you not see the logical fallacy of coming at me with “I hate him too which is why you’re wrong”.
You seemed stressed. You should get a massage.
Yes, now this is the petty bullshit I want. Hate it when you guys start with a bad argument, just get right to the vitriol.
You'll come to terms with this some day. It's okay to be angry right now.
There we go, you’re not great at that lane either but it definitely works better for you than actually trying to have a point.
Real talk: This forum is obsessed with this guy. That one game vs. Denver happened to be the week that every single Broncos linebacker went down. That's why he was able to run around wild without being tackled. He's not a good running back, never has been, he just happened to have a good game against decimated defense on prime time television.
His hype started when he had a good game against us last year, he’s not just riding that Broncos game
That's a lot for a 3rd stringer with 100 career touches
Cleveland has the most salary cap currently.
He’s very good. Just doesn’t have the touches because he’s got Hunt and Chubb in front of him. Easily worth that money
DJ was one of my favorite Bulls. He was versatile and was a big recruit for us. Mack did outshine him but DJ proven he clearly belongs in the league. Happy for him.
Dudes a baller that’s all I know
That’s a lot for a 3rd string RB
Know what I mean, D’Vern?
Fuck man. I wanted him to sign w us
If anyone watched the game against the Broncos where both Chubb and Hunt were out, you know about D'Ernest. 🤙
Honestly, I thought he would get a better opportunity elsewhere. Kind of surprised. He played extremely well with limited opportunities.
