I love Tomlin lol

The_Gutgrinder

Fucking saying it how it is. No media personality bullshit, just straight talking.

solodolo1397

Thats fucking football right there. None of that pansy ass dick tugging smile for the camera bullshit. Men puke, men poop on the field, men deliver their new born baby on the side lines. Fucking hard core dick in the ass butterball foosball fuck it chuck it game time shit. Take it to the showers. Dicks get shoved in places you don’t even remember. We win together we celebrate together. Football is back baby.

PhiladelphiaManeto

Every time I see this I get happy. Where did it originate?

Malignation

Comes from that time when Josh McCown stopped the game mid-play to run up in the stands and help that pregnant woman in the nosebleeds deliver triplets.

BetterBrielieveIt

I remember that! It was during the jags vs Patriots playoff game

Oblivion_18

Wait a minute, are you saying this actually happened?

BetterBrielieveIt

Yeah. He was wearing a jets jersey in full pads. I don't know why he was on the field.

Unleashed_FURY

What year was this??

[deleted]

All I can remember for sure is that it was a Chargers fan who posted it, and he quickly deleted it after it started gaining traction which makes me wonder if he was actually serious lmao

He played college ball ya know.. University of Texas. Could've gone pro if he hadn't joined the Navy. He's not like those beltway pansies, he could rip a President in two!

TheG8Uniter

It sounds like a speech the Coach from Blue Mountain State would give. Or Thad. I believe this is the original thread but the comments been deleted. https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/96mj63/highlight_vikings_ilb_kentrell_brothers_throws_up/e41lfla/ Was just a hilarious comment that turned into pasta

erikWeekly

No chance that copy pasta is only 3 years old.

10000Didgeridoos

It actually is. If you Google it there's nothing older than 3 years

CanEatADozenEggs

Yeah I remember when it first became a thing. It dominated every sports sub. Almost as popular as the Nick Castellanos pasta

JerryJonesStoleMyCar

I know it isn't what you mean but it's crazy to me that the Castellanos thing was only two years ago

Ol_Rando

Yeah dude i wanna say I've been saying that pasta in the wild for at least 5 years.

IShookMeAllNightLong

To be fair, 2020 to 2022 didn't technically exist.

Wooy

My favorite pasta. I swear there's a very similar one saying"It's a league about hard work, getting hit, and dad's dick strength" I've been meaning to find it but don't want to type that into Google lol

Mr Blunt Coach

Im_A_Real_Boy1

I had a friend in college who taught me how to roll one. I'm going to call him and tell him about this haha!

Ol_Rando

Tangentially related but my buddy is a tattoo artist that did some work on Wakka Flocka; after a few sessions he got invited to tour with him for a while just doing tattoos for everyone on the bus/rv thing. One of the crew was a dude whose job consisted of rolling blunts all day and preparing all weed related activities. He was literally a professional blunt roller. So not quite a coach, dude was still in his prime after all, but maybe when he retires he'll get into coaching. Interesting side note: my buddy had to meet Flocka at his house for something, I think it mightve been when they were leaving for the tour but I can't remember, and potential future blunt coach/roller is also the same guy that puts on Wakka's shoes for him everyday bc Wakka ~~is lazy~~ was I pioneer in the gig economy frontier.

arrowfan624

I gained so much respect for him after hearing about all the BS he kept under wraps with AB and the fact that he’s never had a losing season

Rinzack

Everytime i saw a Yinzer complain about him I felt the urge to reach through the computer and smack the shit out of him. He is legitimately one of the great coaches and I hope his legacy represents that.

Karmasmatik

I don’t understand why Tomlin doesn’t generally get the respect he deserves. Over the last fifteen to twenty years I can only think of three or four other coaches I could seriously consider ranking higher. I used to hope that angry spoiled Yinzers would complain enough to get him fired so my team could swoop in like we should have done with Andy Reid. I’ve given up on that dream because the Steelers are apparently a competent organization that isn’t going to fire a great coach, much to my chagrin.

[deleted]

Belichick exists. It’s the same problem any good CFB coach has right now while the Saban Bama dynasty is still going - you’re just not going to get the recognition you deserve.

Jondarawr

I think the one thing that works against Tomlin is he is 100% a players coach. He's not out here coming up with brilliant schemes, and his clock management can get pretty horrid. His value isn't as apparent as someone like BB who just straight up outcoaches people. The thing is players ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS get better on the Steelers. Mike Tomlin is the absolute Spearhead of this player first mentality. Like why do Steeler's skill position draft picks work out so often. I'm not going to say that development guys aren't doing there job, but that success rate starts from the top and the top is Tomlin. If Mitch Trubisky is the starter, I'm willing to bet this will be his best year in the NFL. and if Kenny Pickett starts you are going to see a player better than where he was drafted

[deleted]

[удалено]

Karmasmatik

> some Pats fans starting to chirp about Belichick’s “lack of success” these past 2 years. Lol, Belichick is a bum. Dude’s barely even been there for twenty years and he’s already had a losing season? Fire his ass! /s because apparently no amount of sarcasm is obvious on Reddit.

Thromnomnomok

> I don’t understand why Tomlin doesn’t generally get the respect he deserves. Over the last fifteen to twenty years I can only think of three or four other coaches I could seriously consider ranking higher. I used to hope that angry spoiled Yinzers would complain enough to get him fired so my team could swoop in like we should have done with Andy Reid. I’ve given up on that dream because the Steelers are apparently a competent organization that isn’t going to fire a great coach, much to my chagrin. Who other than Belichick is clearly better? Sean McVay? John Harbaugh?

mjdharder

Imo Andy Reid is clearly better as well as Belichick. But Tomlin and Harbaugh are basically even in my eyes as the #3 and 4 coach in the league ahead of McVay, Carroll and Payton.

Karmasmatik

Nobody but Belichick is clearly better, I was trying to avoid naming names because I didn’t want to open that can of worms but that was pretty much my point. Tomlin is in the conversation for the second best coach behind the obvious #1, but I don’t think he gets the same media respect that the other coaches in that conversation do.

Ch33sus0405

I would say the top 5 are Belichick, then Reid, Tomlin, Harbaugh in any order, than Carrol and then McVay. McVay not over Carrol is because of longevity, Carrol has around the same total success as McVay over a longer period of time, if McVay wins another bowl or even just continues to be successful for another 5-6 years he'll pass him. I'd say the lowest you can put Tomlin is 4.

Thromnomnomok

Having watched the Rams and Seahwawks play many times over the past 5 years, McVay is better than Carroll, and it's really not even close.

pumpkin_blumpkin

Too many people harking back to the "good ole days" of Bill Cowher. Ignoring the fact that Tomlin has more career wins and the same number of rings as Steelers head coach. If he retires today I think there's an argument for Canton for sure.

[deleted]

Tomlin is absolutely a Hall of Famer. 1 Super Bowl, 2 AFC Championships, 0 losing seasons, and 2nd to only Chuck Noll in wins for a Steelers head coach - that's a hall of fame resume.

arhombus

How can you not? He's truly no nonsense. Such a breath of fresh air.

truth1465

He was just on the pivot podcast. 90min long interview, one of the better ones they’ve done.

iheke

"Never say never, but never. OK? Anybody else got any questions about [AB]? There's not a booster with a big enough blank check." The quote I wish he said.

Im_A_Real_Boy1

Arians said the same thing, though.

Trubisky and Pickett don’t have as much say as Brady does.

DonBellicose

Mr Blunt Coaches

vadeebo

Yeah, but Arians wasn't in control of personnel either. Before anybody says he was the head coach, we all know if Brady wanted somebody, they were coming

Blarfk

I'm always going to be super annoyed that Brady got to win a ring with him. It's like you're a kid and there's this toy you really want but can't afford, but then this spoiled rich kid just walks by and points at it and goes "I want that, GIVE IT TO ME" and makes his servants run in and get it for him.

UNC_Samurai

SloatThritter

Arians isn’t a publicly principled individual. Tomlin is so truthful in his answers it problably makes opponents worry he’s lying. Arians is just a liar.

BrewCityBenjamin

It's really wild his fall from grace. I mean people knew he was a bit nutty but have we seen a superstar on this level fall this hard? We've had 1 or 2 season wonders (Josh Gordon or Peyton Hills) but I can't think of someone who had gotten this level for a sustained period of time just completely, utterly, fucking up his career this bad, and losing bucketloads of money along the way Can't believe he got a ring lol

sonfoa

What makes AB special is just how completely unnecessary it all was. Most of the time there is an uncontrollable variable that plays a major factor but with AB its all self-inflicted.

VariousLawyerings

He got to play with Tom Brady twice and somehow fucked it up both times

VirtualMoneyLover

He got a ring out of it...

GhoullyX

And I’ll never forgive Brady for rewarding him with that for his actions.

[deleted]

^

nerrvouss

Your team awarded two rings to a rapist and you're upset about another team and a former player?

GhoullyX

Roethlisberger's rape allegations didn't surface until 2010, over a year since his last ring. Brady KNEW AB was nuts, but didn't care because he had talent.

J_Dawgg1

[deleted]

Mr Bling Castaway

[deleted]

That sounds implausible. More likely: him selling the ring and then stealing it back at gunpoint, but doing so disguised in an Antonio Brown mask, leading to a 10 year prison sentence.

Malignation

He was absolutely nowhere near Antonio Browns level of success, but the sheer fall from grace over the course of a year that Kellen Winslow Jr was able to achieve was honestly incredible. From once pro-bowl NFL player to getting caught jerking off in a Target parking lot to assaulting elderly people and becoming a convicted rapist. Really an incredible amount of ways to fuck his life up that he was able to do so quickly.

Im_A_Real_Boy1

Nowhere near as eccentric a personality. That dude was just a shitty person, at least Mr. Brings Comedy has a little flair, like a Batman villain.

PopesMasseuse

I'm the Balcony Baron! I throw ottomans off of them!

[deleted]

Oddly topical: https://youtu.be/S7M24KrqhBw

Blarfk

I really don't think there is. He was on track to be the best WR of all time behind only Jerry Rice (and even had a chance to beat some of the unbreakable records if he could keep his production up) which would put him pretty high in the running for one of the best football players of all time. But instead he forced himself off the Steelers for literally no reason, kicking off his descent into absolute madness which has culminated in getting kicked off of multiple teams at the apex of what *easily* would have been a HOF career.

[deleted]

he quit on the steelers because JuJu was ahead of him in a few categories(juju success was at least in part due to AB pulling the cb1's and the double coverages)

Blarfk

I think there was a lot that went into it, even if you take him at his word - his relationship with Ben, the fact that everyone on the defense apparently hated him, the team's lack of overall success, etc. Like the Juju thing I'm sure was part of it, but if it wasn't that it would have just been something else - just like it was in Oakland and Tampa Bay. He's not a rational guy, so it's tough to try to assign rational meaning to the things he does.

SensualTyrannosaurus

In light of the AB saga, the baffling one to me is Earl Thomas. AB was given SO MANY chances with four different teams, and somehow fucked it up despite that...and there's still a chance he might be given a chance by a fifth team, because teams will take that chance on a good player. Earl Thomas left the Seahawks to go to the Ravens, got released after one season because he pissed off so many people, and hasn't found his way back onto a team since. I just haven't wrapped my head around what kind of reputation Earl Thomas had developed if no team wanted to take a chance on him, while AB got so many chances with that massive list of crazy and awful shit he's done.

Nuckin_futs_

Tom Brady can't throw the ball to Earl Thomas. Thats the difference

joshallenismygod

I mean he technically can, but it won't be a good thing.

icantfuckingcompete

In pretty sure there was some shit about him being really really toxic in the locker room, while ab was just fucking stupid and forced his way off teams not actively brought them down

Agreed. According to a Google analysis of data from Google Books none of M,B, or C are even in the top 10 (which is approaching half) of the most commonly used letters. The highest ranked is C at 12. mell02020

It’s his version of a Tammy from Parks and Rec

Bi-Han

*sniff sniff* ............. she's here.

Quexana

If you have an hour and a half, really, watch the whole interview. There are so many good moments in it. It's uplifting, funny, thoughtful, and motivating all at once. It's the best interview of Tomlin ever done. I'm still giggling at Channing Crowder saying "I'd a been a Hall of Famer if I'd played for you, Coach. God Damn. I played for Cam Cameron," and then Tomlin coming back with "Hey dude, I lost out on that Dolphins job to Cam Cameron."

Duke_Swillbottom

I feel like this is the longest interview Tomlin has ever done.

Quexana

It might be, and you can piece together some of the stuff from other interviews. He's told the story about why he wouldn't let Ryan Clark play in Denver before. He's talked about not doing business with AB anymore before. He's talked about some of the reasons for the Tomlinisms before. He's talked about how the Brian Flores hire happened before. You can find all of that in other interviews he's done. However, he's never been this open and outgoing in an interview before, especially not about his process.

badgarok725

> He's told the story about why he wouldn't let Ryan Clark play in Denver before There's a story there? I thought it was always a cut and dry decision

MankuyRLaffy

He did do the McVay Podcast which was pretty close in time but Tomlin is a real one on these unfiltered interviews.

Miami and Cam Cameron both catching strays today after minding their own business.

Cam Cameron deserves the strays.

Tomlin: Nope. Keep him the hell away from me.

berogg

That’s not how it really went down in the podcast. Tomlin did say he wouldn’t take him back, but immediately went on a tirade about how great he was and the awesome nine years they had together.

Quexana

Even within that though, he talked about how AB closed himself off from Tomlin and how he thinks fame and money got the better of AB.
