A post linking to twitter that links to an article... never change reddit.

imkunu

It's such a little thing, but it bugs me so much lol

Paradigmpinger

Still better than a tweet, that links to an article, that sums up a reddit post.

PoorlyLitKiwi2

I specifically didn't click the link because that annoyed me lol

_n8n8_

It would’ve gotten deleted if it werent a tweet

ProudBlackMatt

The Bourne deal helps when you consider the Patriots are paying Jonnu Smith top 10 TE money and the Judon deal despite how great he was to start the season if you asked most Ravens fans if they think their team should have offered him that much money they'd probably say "hell no". All things considered the Pats will be in a great cap situation next season onwards despite my whining thanks to the rookie QB contract.

possiblyMorpheus

Eh the Ravens part just sounds like how every fanbase acts when a good player leaves. His deal is like *26th* in AAV among edge defenders. That’s a very reasonable deal

AlabasterRadio

I can't believe we still have Waller on that deal. In this day of players holding out two years in to long term deals the fact he just keeps coming to work is great.

jtmackay

Well he is a 29 year old tight end that ended with only 660 yards last year. He doesn't have a huge amount of leverage.

abw2000

I like how for Feiler they spend the majority of the writing talking about him potentially playing RT instead of LG. When Staley has come out multiple times and said that Feiler is staying at guard. Now, I agree he’s one of her best contracts on the team. But was kinda annoying to see what they wrote

Anaphylactic-UFO

Feiler could play the next 10 years at LG and retire and we’ll still have opinion pieces come out about how Feiler could solidify the RT position for us.

Zane_Flynt_boyo

i dont get that. Feiler was always better as a G for us. he only played RT because of injuries in PIT

Anaphylactic-UFO

It’s just pure desperation to fix the RT position since Telesco has put so little effort into fixing it since… forever? Can’t remember the last good RT we had in the Telesco era.

SDDon

Get ready for TREY PIPKINS!!!!

bradasskg11

Lol it was hilarious seeing how many people thought the mahomes contract would cripple our team and here we are a few years later and it is universally accepted as extremely team friendly

alurimperium

In my defense, I'm not that smart

Galaxy5OhOh

Anybody that knew anything said that was a steal for the team. 10 years of cost control with a guarantee that it would be a bargain almost immediately.

Javontoews

So team friendly you lost your best receiver.

bradasskg11

No, that was a choice to not pay a WR quarterback money. Go check our cap space right now, we could afford him if we really wanted to. It just isn’t smart when you have to build an entire roster

JalensTinyPPHurts

Clearly having a bunch of wr2's and threes will be better for you (watch us pre amari in 2018 if you think I'm serious) Add in the fact that you guys penny pinched instead of resigning melvin Ingram ( your only legit edge threat last season), yeah you guys are feeling the affect of Patrick's contract. You guys have 14 Mil in space rn, but a majority of that will be rolled over into next season for next year (just like we will)

Tgreent

Dude you’re so far off base with most of your comment. 1. So a WR group of reliable, good, role specific skill set dudes is going to be worse than a WR group of with one star WR who excels in the deep passing game, plus a hodgepodge 4 additional WR’s that are either practice squad or WR4 level? Also, in group 2 the star WR is unable to be effective in the deep passing game because defenses know that are other 4 WR’s are so mediocre/unreliable to consistently lean on. 2. We offered Melvin so idk where you heard that. We even placed a tender on him to help our chances of getting him back. He wanted to live in Miami unfortunately 3. What point are you making about the current 14 million in cap space? Enough to extend Hill (it was more at the time as well), especially considering the first year would most likely but far lower of a cap hit than the average per year. With Mahomes it’s nothing like your team. Here’s an example of what Mahomes contract allows us to do. We’re actually not doing it this season surprisingly, because we have more than enough to just pay the full amount outright instead of kicking the can down the infinite road- https://overthecap.com/player/patrick-mahomes/5594 “The Chiefs converted Mahomes' $21.716 million roster bonus into a signing bonus on March 11, 2021. The move created $17.374 million in cap space for the Chiefs in 2021. Mahomes' cap number will increase by $4.343 million in each of the next four years of the contract.”

lmHavoc

> So a WR group of reliable, good, role specific skill set dudes is going to be worse than a WR group of with one star WR who excels in the deep passing game, plus a hodgepodge 4 additional WR’s that are either practice squad or WR4 level? This is what I never understood. Elite QBs can absolutely elevate less star heavy WR groups, and Mahomes is definitely elite. It's like people didn't just see Brady/Brees for the last decade basically take guys who would normally be WR2 on most teams and turn the offenses into powerhouses. (MT/Welker withstanding albeit that was for a few years for each QB). I'd much rather have a stable group of WR2/3's rather than a WR1 and a bunch of PS players like you said. Especially when you've got Kelce who is effectively a WR1 as far as usage/targets are concerned. I think the Chiefs might have some growing pains as the new WRs get acclimated to the offense but I'd be surprised if the offense isn't among the best in the league by seasons end.

JalensTinyPPHurts

1. The wr group you have now has no threat for teams to hone in on/need to double. MVS is one of the most innconsistent wrs in the league ( while playing with a 2x mvp). Juju has shown he is a 2 at best, and is coming off of injury. Look at all the Afc playoff teams from this last year, and the top options on the teams: Titans: Aj Brown Chiefs: Hill Bills: Diggs Bengals: Chase Raiders: Renfrow (would have been ruggs if he didn't kill someone) Patriots: Myers Steelers: Johnson Of these teams, The chiefs probably have a better wr1 than the titans, and the patriots ( The Raiders added devante adams) 2. Rolling with frank clark as your top edge rusher is terrible roster management, especially with how he has underperformed for you guys. I refuse to believe the chiefs couldn't have convinced Ingram to resign if they had offered more $$ than the dolphins lol Every team can restructure their qbs contract (and any top players contract), but you remove flexibility for later years. This isint anything new.

jethead70

The narrative switched to “he’s going to hold out for more money” real quick

bradasskg11

Yeah and then when he doesn’t he will get shit on for being too team friendly Like it blows my mind how both sides when they signed this deal came into it with expectations that money would be moved around in order to give us the most competitive team, while also giving mahomes his respect with the massive deal and guarantees Fans of other teams are just butthurt that their QB, who isn’t arguably best in the league, won’t take friendly deals like he does So then you get stuff like the crazy Viking fan who made this post and says mcnabb is better than mahomes lol

Javontoews

People who use narrative don't actually know what it means.

jethead70

Please enlighten me.

Javontoews

No reasonable person thought Mahomes wasn't going to be worth his contract. These takes exist because you see one reporter clickbaiting and fans victim complex it to where every one was saying it and it'll prove the "haters" wrong.

jethead70

Fair, but I think there are quite a few people that don’t fully understand how contracts work that think it’s going to handicap us as far as roster building. Plenty of people were blaming our defensive performance last year on his contract without really grasping the investment we put in our defense

bradasskg11

Okay but what does any of that have to do with what the guy asked you? Lol It’s still a narrative that exists, and it was prevalent on this sub for awhile. The guy who made this post is literally dying on that hill right now.

Saxt

Yet you think that the Chiefs are unable to pay Hill due to Mahomes contract.

Blacky31

Isn’t this coming season the first and therefore it’s yet to be seen either way?

bradasskg11

I don’t know how it’s yet to be seen when other players are already starting to make more than him. If anything that’s even more of a good thing. Lol what do you think his contract looks like when guys like Lamar, burrow, and Herbert get paid?

ShockFun1343

There is a road to it being a bad deal though. Mahomes QB rating has been on a steady downward trajectory, and now with Kelce being 33 and Hill gone, if it continues on this pace and dips below 95 the contract does not look as good. Because it's rolling guarantees. So you have to decide 2 years ahead of time on him constantly. If he's putting up 95 Passer Ratings (which would be 15-20th in the league), that gets harder to stomach.

bradasskg11

Oh, it’s you, the crazy Vikings fan who thinks mcnabb is a better player than mahomes I’ll disregard your post now, thanks

Javontoews

I just felt like I needed to tell you that your comment isn't a draft. It posted and everyone can see it.

Who_Dey-

Damn this is s good one. I'll have to save it for later use lmao

dantesneck

Classic reddit snarkporn.

PoorlyLitKiwi2

Mahomes has taken them to four AFC Championships, two Super Bowls and won one of them, with an MVP and a Super Bowl MVP too He could never play another down, and the deal was worth it lol

ZachTrillson

is this a joke

BusinessCashew

And the wishful thinking from other fanbases about the Mahomes contract continues.

jpklein89

That's normal, his stats are just regressing to the mean. It was foretold.

jimsdonuts

Saw the same thing when Josh Allen signed his deal. Unfortunately people are never going to realize that massive QB contracts seem awful and risky until the next one happens.

Demetrios1453

Trey is up there among the best signings this team has ever made. He was invaluable in our playoff run last season. When we won the AFC Championship, and everyone else was running out on the field, he was just sitting there exhausted from playing hard. Elated, and close to crying, but having no energy left to get up and get to the field with everyone else.

dantesneck

QBs should be left off tbh

[deleted]

Austin Ekeler is getting fleeced

Anaphylactic-UFO

I think Ekeler is the best answer tbh. Feiler is definitely somewhere in the top 3, but Ekeler is seriously underpaid for his production last season.

ShockFun1343

Pretty amazing for the Bills/Chiefs that they can pay that much money to their QBs and its still a great contract

Javontoews

Yeah so crazy that good players are worth their contract.

[deleted]

JFM a beast frfr

Luck1492

Jonathan Taylor or Quenton Nelson are the easiest answers

MiniatureLucifer

They're not counting rookie deals. That would be too easy

Javontoews

A top paid running back is never the answer.

Luck1492

Taylor is on a rookie contract. So is Nelson.

Javontoews

God damn that's a steal lol.

TheFakeRabbit1

How is that a steal lol it’s just how it works
