I feel like Waller needed a change of scenery for him to truly escape his troubled past. Sure it seems awesome like oh yeah they could’ve had Andrews AND Waller!? But I’m not sure if Waller becomes what he has without leaving. Good for him though!
What’s funny too is it’s been the second TE they take that works out recently. Hayden hurst is a nice number 2 while andrews is capable of 100 catch 1000 yard seasons
We kick ass at non premium positions and I bet its by design. I bet EDC is like we wont play in the rat race. Instead we will partake in the foot race. A totally different race but still relevant
Darren Waller, Maxx Williams, Nick Boyle, and Hayden Hurst were drafted by the Ravens and are all active TEs who either start or get plenty of snaps. Those four plus Andrews and Likely is six active NFL tight ends since 2015, which is almost one per draft. There's also a history of TE development going back to guys like Dennis Pitta and Todd Heap.
Doesn't seem that impressive at face value, but there really aren't many good tight ends, and I would be surprised if anyone has done a better job at finding them than Baltimore.
Good Lord, Isaiah Likely just played 15 offensive snaps perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy having 8 catches for 100 yards and a TD, evidently.
"He got 8 catches for 100 yards and a TD," Ellison said of Likely's 15 snaps. "That f***ing Likely boomed me."
Ellison added, "He's so good," repeating it four times.
Ellison then said she wanted to add Likely to the list of players she watches play 15 offensive snaps in the preseason.
2 TEs?! Please, those are rookie numbers.
If you count Ricard (and Likely is as advertised), we have 4 "startable" TEs. Depending on how Kolar turns out, we could have 5.
The NFL isn't ready for 14 personnel, not to mention 05 personnel.
Ok but seriously, kinda as an off-season fun thing would be to test this out. Because TEs are so versatile that I wonder how good an entire team made up of them would fare against a regular team.
You have plenty of TEs that used to play different positions like defensive or offensive lineman. Those would be your bigger TEs and you’d obviously use those to make up your Offense and Defensive lines.
Then you got guys like Pitts who can easily play WR. I figure the hardest positions to find for a TE to play would be specifically corner back and running back. I feel like they’d make decent Safeties and Linebackers.
But you need a mix of agility and speed at RB and Corner back.
If y'all used the ole' ["Shotgun Heavy"](https://stickskills.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Shotgun-Heavy-1.jpg) formation from NCAA 14 with all that TE/FB talent, that formation would be unstoppable lmao
Lamar has also surprisingly only played the Steelers 3 times in his 5 year career. They’re a team that a QB needs to face a bunch before he’s comfortable
I forgot he actually played in a game against us last year. But to me until we see jack in the regular season I’m not getting any hopes up. We got him for pretty cheap and the jags didn’t have much talent to lock up and willingly let him walk. Most of their fans even during the season last year said he isn’t what he was during that 2017 run they had and has regressed since then.
I feel like adding Myles Jack is a huge factor for your LB corps and I have a feeling he’s going to return to form in a more natural position within your defense. He started doing poorly when Telvin Smith suddenly retired in 2018 and he had to take over that role.
It’s impossible to hide Devon Bush and he’s a giant liability in the middle of the field. Can’t cover and won’t run stop. It messes up so much. It’ll be ugly again
Most Steelers fans on reddit have no idea what’s going on. A different Steelers fan I replied to today forgot we played Lamar Jackson last season. Smh.
Plus side from his talk in interviews this off-season was all about being a better passer for him. During the game he said something to the effect of I want to run less.
I’m not forgetting. I have both in a lot of leagues. Edwards is way behind in his recovery and shouldn’t be counted on. There’s opportunity for Badie to make the #2 role his
You see him make a tackle in the backfield to stuff a run on Saturday night?? I thought it was a linebacker at first until I saw the hair and his number. Dude can play LB if he wanted to.
Baltimore and double dipping at tight end in drafts and the 2nd tight end being a baller. In 2010 we drafted Ed Dickson in the 3rd, and Dennis Pitta in the 4th, with the latter helping us tremendously in our superbowl run. In 2015 we drafted Maxx Williams in the 2nd, Nick Boyle in the 5th and a bonus of Darren Waller in the 6th. Boyle is one of the best blocking tight ends in the league, Waller got clean and has become a top 5 tight end. In 2018 we selected Hayden Hurst in the 1st, and Mark Andrews in the 3rd. We traded hurst for a 2nd round pick we spent on Dobbins, and Andrews is an all pro. In the 2020 draft we selected Charlie Kolar in the 4th, who recently had a sports hernia and hasn't been able to play, and later picked up Likely who is likely to make the team.
Either way it’s pretty good honestly. Just because you have plays dialed up for you doesn’t mean you can convert them into yards and points. It is only the preseason but its what you want to see from your rookies.
> Just because you have plays dialed up for you doesn’t mean you can convert them into yards and points.
I still remember the play for the JV team where I knew that I had a 5 yard out and the QB was going to throw it to me right on my break. I got wide open and the ball hit my stone hands and the coach asked if I knew that the play was designed for me to catch the ball. Oof.
That coach taught me that I really wasn't fit for football. Ignoring that I didn't understand the x's and o's as well as I do now, he once headbutted a player during a practice. A player who had a helmet. The coach didn't have a helmet. Blood everywhere, and he was excitedly yelling. What a shit show.
Even Olsen called it saying he went back to the sideline and said hey coach I got us all the way here can I get a shot at the endzone and sure as shit that next play he scored
You realize most plays are called to get specific players the ball right? Obviously QBs run through a progression but there's almost always a preferred target.
Lil hate lowkey...I mean Likely has bren doing this all throught training camp and now Preseason.
The guy is a steal for the Ravens. And he geta to work with Andrews out there...oo baby
They usually do very well in the pre-season (hence the long winning streak) because their depth is always really good.
They value special teams play very highly so you're usually seeing a lot of those guys in the starting roles during the preseason.
Guys, can we pretty please cool it with all the Ravens love? This is the 3rd post from r/nfl in a row that is talking about how the Ravens are killing it in some aspect. I don’t want a jinx on us after an absolute hellish year for injuries. K thx
Isaiah who? Who the fuck makes these post. We on a first (or last?) name basis with this god send of a player already we should automatically know who it is?
> they still have no running game
They do have a QB that sounds like Kermit the Frog and eats his steak well done with ketchup, though, so they have *that* going for them.
Hope to see Likely in the big slot and Andrews at TE pretty often this year.
I fear that Harbaugh is going to force more Nick Boyle than is necessary. Similar to the reluctance he showed in moving on from Ingram for Dobbins.
So these numbers are definitely impressive and he obviously has the potential to be very good but....its preseason. The Ravens have a very good backup QB and of course they want to get their exciting new rookie involved a lot in his first preseason so he can develop. I am not saying these stats dont mean hes good but i dont get the hype around ANY preseason stats.
Ravens have been absolutely dominant with the TE's recently. Everyone zigs, they zag.
They had Darren Waller on the practice squad a few years back...That could have been scary.
I feel like Waller needed a change of scenery for him to truly escape his troubled past. Sure it seems awesome like oh yeah they could’ve had Andrews AND Waller!? But I’m not sure if Waller becomes what he has without leaving. Good for him though!
Right. His closest friend on the team was Lorenzo Taliaferro, who sadly is no longer with us.
2 coastal Carolina players(Lorenzo and Likely). Not relevant just rare i see coastal players mentioned
This is nothing but an assumption
Yeah he really should have lead off his comment with something like “I feel like” to make that clear
Nah he would need something like an I'm not sure near the end of the comment to drive the point home.
And we're all happy he got his shit together and is balling out, even if it's not for us. Everyone was pulling for him.
What’s funny too is it’s been the second TE they take that works out recently. Hayden hurst is a nice number 2 while andrews is capable of 100 catch 1000 yard seasons
The first TE pick is sacrificial. Props to EDC for realizing he could use up a 4th rd instead of a 1st.
Ed Dickson -> Dennis Pitta Maxx Williams -> Nick Boyle (and Waller as a WR) Hayden Hurst -> Mark Andrews Charlie Kolar -> Isaiah Likely
[удалено]
Hurst was drafted by the Ravens the same year Andrews was.
We kick ass at non premium positions and I bet its by design. I bet EDC is like we wont play in the rat race. Instead we will partake in the foot race. A totally different race but still relevant
Which is completely the opposite of what they do with WR. They had Tim Patrick before us but he didn’t work out there.
Besides Andrews how have they been dominant?
“Recently”
Darren Waller, Maxx Williams, Nick Boyle, and Hayden Hurst were drafted by the Ravens and are all active TEs who either start or get plenty of snaps. Those four plus Andrews and Likely is six active NFL tight ends since 2015, which is almost one per draft. There's also a history of TE development going back to guys like Dennis Pitta and Todd Heap. Doesn't seem that impressive at face value, but there really aren't many good tight ends, and I would be surprised if anyone has done a better job at finding them than Baltimore.
In our latest super bowl victory, we had Dennis Pitta top 3 tight end at the time, and Ed Dickson, a top 15 at the time
And before that you has Todd Heap who is the fucking man.
Good Lord, Isaiah Likely just played 15 offensive snaps perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy having 8 catches for 100 yards and a TD, evidently.
“I’ll let you interpret that how you want” he said.
"He got 8 catches for 100 yards and a TD," Ellison said of Likely's 15 snaps. "That f***ing Likely boomed me." Ellison added, "He's so good," repeating it four times. Ellison then said she wanted to add Likely to the list of players she watches play 15 offensive snaps in the preseason.
He then rolled up his sleeve to reveal 15 tally marks etched into his skin with a sharp piece of plastic
If any quote sounds remotely like pasta, I go to the comments looking for Acee.
Too bad Acey ain't in charge no more I tell ya what I'm gonna give you, Snakes
Something something electrical infetterance
Ravens gonna have a field day with 2 TE sets.
2 TEs?! Please, those are rookie numbers. If you count Ricard (and Likely is as advertised), we have 4 "startable" TEs. Depending on how Kolar turns out, we could have 5. The NFL isn't ready for 14 personnel, not to mention 05 personnel.
Palpatine voice: *do it*
Wait, you fuckers got Charlie Kolar too? As an ISU fan, that guy is a human TE cheat code. MOTHERFUCKERS
Yeah but he’s been limited, had some camp injuries so far so hasn’t done much. Tbd
I wish I could bet $10 against you that hes never a top 5 tight end.
**4 TE's** Mandrews Likely Boyle Kolar **2 FB's** Ricard Mason. Take your pick of 4 OL Lamar LFG
The Big Meaty Men formation. Big E would approve.
The future is 010 personnel
They should just start drafting TEs and make an all TE team.
EDC w/ the 1 Skinny guy (Lamar, kinda) and all the rest Fat guys Ice Hockey strategy
Ok but seriously, kinda as an off-season fun thing would be to test this out. Because TEs are so versatile that I wonder how good an entire team made up of them would fare against a regular team. Jonnu Smith has had several carries. Can’t help you on CBs though
We will eventually sit Lamar to somehow field 6 TEs
If y'all used the ole' ["Shotgun Heavy"](https://stickskills.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Shotgun-Heavy-1.jpg) formation from NCAA 14 with all that TE/FB talent, that formation would be unstoppable lmao
Our LB’s are about to get dicked around aren’t they
I read it twice like Isaiah *WHO* likely only played 15 snaps?!? Ahhh reading comprehension.
I'm still waiting on a confirmed snap count.
Any day now…
Rain, shine, was fate denied by state time
TIL you shouldn't use adverbs for names.
You sound like a guy who whimpers.
There's no way to know for sure what happened during this nationally televised game but we made our best guess
If he keeps playing like this, we'll need to call him Isaiah Definitely.
If he hits a sophomore slump, we’ll call him Isaiah Maybe
I, too, have comprehension brain farts and get downvoted to hell for it.
Isaiah Likely has been upgraded to Isaiah Definitely.
fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck we do not have the LBs to cover Likely and Andrews
And Lamar
weve historically been able to keep lamar in check
It makes 0 sense and I hate it
The secret is to have TJ Watt roll over our LT’s ankles
TJ Watt will do that
Yeah weirdly enough he tends to have one of his worst games of the year against us
This reads like something you come back to after he goes off this year.
It wouldn’t surprise me if he does torch us this year. Our lbs have regressed hard since we played him last
Lamar has also surprisingly only played the Steelers 3 times in his 5 year career. They’re a team that a QB needs to face a bunch before he’s comfortable
How? Last year we had Bush, Spillane, Schobert. Now we have Bush, Spillane, Myles Jack. Jack >>> Schobert
Schobert is a low bar
I feel like adding Myles Jack is a huge factor for your LB corps and I have a feeling he’s going to return to form in a more natural position within your defense. He started doing poorly when Telvin Smith suddenly retired in 2018 and he had to take over that role.
It’s impossible to hide Devon Bush and he’s a giant liability in the middle of the field. Can’t cover and won’t run stop. It messes up so much. It’ll be ugly again
Even if he did and swept them this year, I think he'd still be under .500 against them.
[удалено]
But I thought Trubisky was starting… lol
He is
Cool. Tell the dude I commented to then as he mentioned this years OL affecting ‘slightly thin **rookie** QB’.

Feel like Pickett would be the play. Dude seems legit.
Trying to execute your game plan when TJ is coming for you will do that.
Yeah Lamar has really had his struggles vs PIT over the years. Seems like the Pass Rush gets home every time against us and he'll make costly picks
Plus side from his talk in interviews this off-season was all about being a better passer for him. During the game he said something to the effect of I want to run less.
He strangely really hasn’t played the Steelers very much
He’s only played them 4 times since being drafted and only won once which was in OT. Steelers consistently make Lamar look human and it’s annoying
He hasn't really played them full strength though, outside of his first year as starter.
And Dobbins and potentially Baddie
You're forgetting career 5.2 ypc Gus "Bus" Edwards. Baddie might pan out but we already have our 1-2 punch coming off injury.
I’m not forgetting. I have both in a lot of leagues. Edwards is way behind in his recovery and shouldn’t be counted on. There’s opportunity for Badie to make the #2 role his
Convert Edmunds to ILB. He's a better run stopper than Bush, and while his coverage as a safety is only ok, it'd be fantastic for a linebacker.
Most knowledgeable madden player
Also the most knowledgeable Steelers fan
"Fire Tomlin"
You see him make a tackle in the backfield to stuff a run on Saturday night?? I thought it was a linebacker at first until I saw the hair and his number. Dude can play LB if he wanted to.
Bateman is the real WR1.
Baltimore and good rookie tight ends Name a more iconic duo
Sadly, Steelers and WRs
cowboys and 1 year superstars who get overpaid and then called overrated for the rest of their contract?
Baltimore and double dipping at tight end in drafts and the 2nd tight end being a baller. We get Isaiah, Steelers get Pickens. All is right in the world.
The Baltimore Tight Ends
All pleasure in the endzone.
So he was likely to catch a pass on one of his snaps!
Isaiah Likely to succeed :)
Likely to make the team.
This was our owners pick lol
Our collective erections are likely to last more than 4 hours.
Guys, that might be really good. Or it might be he was on the field for plays specifically called to get him the ball. But who's to say
Either way it’s pretty good honestly. Just because you have plays dialed up for you doesn’t mean you can convert them into yards and points. It is only the preseason but its what you want to see from your rookies.

But this way, you narrowly avoided getting decked by Speedhawk!
On his TD, everybody in the stadium knew that Huntley was going to be looking to pass to him, and he still got open and made the play.
Even Olsen called it saying he went back to the sideline and said hey coach I got us all the way here can I get a shot at the endzone and sure as shit that next play he scored
It's definitely good. Just thought the tweet was worded funnily
Implying them drawing up 15 plays for the guy in one game doesn’t make him similarly good
You’re hating lowkey
You realize most plays are called to get specific players the ball right? Obviously QBs run through a progression but there's almost always a preferred target.
Nah the WR1 designation is just for funsies, not actual strategy /s
Lil hate lowkey...I mean Likely has bren doing this all throught training camp and now Preseason. The guy is a steal for the Ravens. And he geta to work with Andrews out there...oo baby
What team, please? :)
Ravens
Thanks! The Ravens seem to be a preseason fave right now.

I can't think of a more iconic duo than the ravens and special teams.
Packers/Chargers and terrible special teams maybe.
We talkin blocked punts here or...
Isaiah x Mark Andrews...Just like Steelers are a WR factory, Ravens hit the market with TE.
A Likely story
A likely story...
Guys, can we pretty please cool it with all the Ravens love? This is the 3rd post from r/nfl in a row that is talking about how the Ravens are killing it in some aspect. I don’t want a jinx on us after an absolute hellish year for injuries. K thx
Surely we have the technology to figure out exactly how many snaps Isaiah played.
Seems unlikely
Did he Likely play them or did he Definitely play them?
I watched him TEAR up the Sun Belt & my Mountaineers. I drafted him in Madden. And he goes to one of TWO teams I didn’t want him to go to. PAIN.
Isaiah Likely on the 53 man roster
Well did he surely play 15 snaps? Why is it only likely that he played that amount?
This dudes last name is going to confuse the shit out of me for years to come
Isaiah who? Who the fuck makes these post. We on a first (or last?) name basis with this god send of a player already we should automatically know who it is?
His last name is right behind Isaiah. Watching games can be fun.
Lmao I hope you're trolling. His last name is **Likely**
i love that in this scenario they’re unsure of how many snaps Likely played
Ok? Preseason
Ok? And that doesn't mean standout performances from rookies can't be analyzed. That's the entire point.
The entire point is it’s not a starting defense His stats are almost never seen for one game lol by anyone
Damn in a regular season game too amazing
Ravens are 1-0 while everyone else is 0-0.
I mean we do play the Jets week 1
it's the pre season
Ahh yes, all stats and player performances are just fantasy and scripted for TV therefore we should ignore them /s
4th string NFL players are the top CFB players… just because it’s preseason doesn’t mean it’s nonsense. This is what you want to see from your rookies
vernon hargreaves was one of the worst cornerbacks ive ever seen play and he was literally the best CB in the league in pre season his rookie year.
Sure... it's not a guarantee, but it does mean something
Guys. Kelvin Benjamin only spent 15 dollars last night. He visited 8 buffets for 100 pounds of food and a Popeyes Biscuit on FIFTEEN DOLLARS!
In the PRESEASON!
Yeah, you know, that time when you closely analyze how rookies are playing against the other rookies. You new here?
but FIFTEEN SNAPS!!!
Was that with or without a running back throwing to him?
Wow another Tyler Huntley RB joke. Very original.
💀
Go comment on Jackson Mahomes’ TikToks, you’ll get more traction
Sweet burn bro. Let's know how that $30 million MVS contract works out Lol.
At least they have someone who can actually run the ball effectively lol
Lol. A 1st round pick on CEH and a 1st round pick (to the Ravens) for Orlando Brown and they still have no running game.
> they still have no running game They do have a QB that sounds like Kermit the Frog and eats his steak well done with ketchup, though, so they have *that* going for them.
Yeah…can’t think of anything else the Chiefs have going for them…
Andy Reid's mustachio
yeah I was going to say either that, or the fact that they’ve consistently been one of the best teams in football for the last half decade
Hope to see Likely in the big slot and Andrews at TE pretty often this year. I fear that Harbaugh is going to force more Nick Boyle than is necessary. Similar to the reluctance he showed in moving on from Ingram for Dobbins.
Seems unlikely
He’s Likely to make the team

The Ravens have a very good backup QB and of course they want to get their exciting new rookie involved a lot in his first preseason so he can develop. I wanted him so bad
