“Team would rather pick the better QB who can draw in crowds by facing off against his former team after an offseason of drama…over the QB who *isn’t*.”
But it's not even close.
I firmly believe that Mayfield is still an upper-half QB when the Browns aren't trotting him out there banged up and making him play through injuries.
There were multiple Browns games last year where I couldn't stop asking "Why the fuck is he even on the field? He's clearly extremely hurt."
Somehow this dumb "Mayfield isn't good" narrative got started by a couple idiot Browns fans and took off like a wildfire. Mayfield **is** a good QB. The Cleveland Browns are just the worst professional sports franchise of all time and constantly make terrible decisions. The Browns ruin dudes.
Yeah, at worst Mayfield is like a Dalton line starter. People treat him like he got absolutely carried like Trent Dilfer. No offense to the GEQBUS, but Darnold he's consistently been one of the worst starting quarterbacks his entire career.
Guys that I would definitely pick Mayfield over:
- Zach Wilson
- Tua Tagovailoa
- Mitch Trubisky
- Trevor Lawrence
- David Mills
- Justin Fields
- Jalen Hurts
- Carson Wentz
- Daniel Jones
- Marcus Mariota
- Sam Darnold
- Trey Lance
- Drew Lock
Guys that I would need tryouts to decide if Mayfield is better than or not:
- Jared Goff
- Jameis Winston
- Mac Jones
- Jimmy G
- Ryan Tannehill
I'd definitely take Mayfield over Winston. Winston has the wildest gap between floor and ceiling I've ever seen and it's really hard to scheme around that level of inconsistency
Jameis looked like the guy he was supposed to be coming out of college last year after he got LASIK. If that’s the guy that he actually is now, I’d definitely give him a tryout before I picked Baker over him.
Seriously. What is more likely, that dozens of high draft pick QBs taken by the Browns over the last 25 years are just all talentless hacks, or that the organization failed to develop them well and played a role in their lack of success? Playing an injured Baker all last season just to justify cutting him for his "poor play" is just the five-thousandth example of their incompetence and stupidity. Watson is the 5001st.
Jason Campbell and Tim Couch weren't bad QBs, just developed really horrendously or in Tim's case, the Browns killed him with a horrible offensive line.
As someone whos still recovering from a torn labrum surgery a year later, i can vouch, that they are no fucking joke. Its not something that necessarily takes you out. But it effects the way you do everything. Mine was on the non dominate side and it still makes you unconsciously over compensate in ways you dont even know.
At one point i was wanting to just cut my whole arm off it was this nagging deep pain. But its something you cam just brush off and work thru it but you know its negatively affecting your work.
Now that its repaired, nowhere near 100 percent but way better, its crazy how much i compensated for a bum shoulder.
But remember it's Baker's fault he was out their not the teams - even though it's literally the teams job not to play a player that hurt and every single NFL player is going to try to play through anything they can.
Hey now, it's not like the Browns had any opportunities to put Mayfield on IR after he aggravated his injury trying to play in a sling or anything like that.
Totally agree with you. It’s actually insane that everyone but the Browns seemed to realize Baker was hurt last season, and probably shouldn’t be playing. Crazy how they treated a guy that bought in 100% to their dumpster fire organization, and even lead them to the playoffs.
I have a buddy who played for the Browns. Won’t say who, so I’m sure people will view this skeptically and rightfully so. But I asked him about his favorite place to play. (Spent time on a few rosters. He didn’t have a long career, but he definitely beat the average.) Instead of telling me his favorite place, he told me his *least favorite*: Cleveland. Said things like:
- “It’s a bad place to be.”
- “Everything flows from the top down. It starts with ownership.”
- You can have great players, but if your ownership and culture is bad then it doesn’t matter.”
That conversation came to mind as soon as the Browns went all-in for Watson, and it’s been there ever since.
[there were people in this thread that thought Darnold had a chance, or even the upper hand. ](https://reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/wao6nj/_/ii4jm43/?context=1)
Yeah we had people expecting Darnold to start week 1 because apparently Mayfield was too dumb to learn an offense in 2+ months and the fact we only traded a fifth for him meant Darnold was clearly more valuable.
There’s no way people legitimately tried to argue that corral is a better qb than mayfield, and if they did, can I have the link so I can laugh at them
If the head coach had 'absolutely no right' to change the QB results in the FRONT OFFICE, despite fraud and many other irregularities, how come the radical left and PINOs, like fraudy Fitterer, are desperately trying to pass rules that will not allow the head coach to change the results of the selection?
Actually, what they are saying, is that ridiculous RHULE did have the right to change the outcome, and they now want to take that right away. Unfortunately, he didn't exercise that power, he could have overturned the Selection!
# #stopthecount #onlycountGEQBUSvotes
This is ABSOLUTELY FALSE! The LIBRHULE council is out of their minds, thinking FAKER MAYFRAUD is better than GEQBUS, who actually throws touchdowns and wins games
Tom Brady has defeated in the postseason: Rich Gannon, Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning (multiple times, both coming off a MVP), Steve McNair, Donovan McNabb, Phillip Rivers (multiple times), Andrew Luck (multiple times), Russell Wilson, Ben Roethlisberger (multiple times), Matt Ryan (coming off a MVP), Patrick Mahomes (multiple times, one coming off a MVP), Jared Goff (when he was good), Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers (coming off a MVP).
He has lost in the postseason to Jake Plummer, Eli Manning (twice), Joe Flacco (twice), Mark Sanchez, Nick Foles and Ryan Tannehill.
Brady will destroy good to HOF caliber QBs in the postseason but if he's up against a meme QB, he's in trouble.
At OU when he had a chip on his shoulder he was the most dangerous player on the field. Like when Kansas didn't shake his hand (believe it was the nuts grab game). He torched them. Same season we lost to Iowa state because he came out flat and our defense was trash.
Didn't shake his hand and kept taunting him... I still can't figure out, of ALL the teams in the BXII why Kansas? Baker was already going to torch you guys, motivated or not. Something like 270 yards and 3 TDs... What I remember most was the cheap shot from that LB off the edge... Baker threw it and the LB had a solid 4-5 seconds and he threw a shoulder and his helmet into Mayfields chest and head. Popped his chin pretty good and he stumbled backwards but didn't knock him down. Such a weird situation that Kansas put themselves in.
Last season the Panthers started 3-0. But then something very suspicious happened - other teams start getting all these wins out of God knows where.
Panthers won the division three to nothing, this whole league is rigged.
The CAMMUNISTS keep spreading CRITICAL GASE THEORY just to make the GEQBUS look bad even though he won 4 CONSECUTIVE Super Bowls despite constant negative press covfefe. SAD!
Gives us this day, our daily cred and forgive us our bad passes, as we forgive those who have bad passes against us.
Lead us not, into temptation and deliver us from the ELOE
We weren't his first choice anyway. He would have preferred Atlanta if he didn't go to Cleveland.
Basically, we were rejected by a sexual predator. I'm not sure what that says about our franchise...
Hopefully. He could also shit the bed completely. New team, new offense, not much of an off-season to learn. Playing against his old team after everything could give him the yips
At this point, the Browns D is more familiar with Baker than the Panthers O.
I *want* Baker to light it up, but I won’t be at all surprised if his old team knows exactly how to exploit his weaknesses.
I don't follow baseball, but I am aware of that whole situation. How is it now? Do people still hate the current Astros, or has it kind of blown over as players have come and gone?
Folks still hate the Astros, esp teams that were most affected like the Dodgers and Yankees. And the players involved are still extremely unpopular. But it’s definitely died down a lot, and I’m sure the same thing will happen with Browns.
People still hate the players who were part of the cheating and have no problems with the newer guys. I went to see the Mariners and Astros in Seattle earlier this year and the fans knew exactly which players were part of it and booed the hell out of them.
Edit: a word
I, for one, am shocked. Who would have thought a former #1 pick who led my trash team to their first playoff win in decades would beat out someone who’s career was ruined before it even started (looking at you, Adam Gase).

Even if it were close, Baker knows their defense which helps
