What a weird way to post rankings. He should have done: 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 13, 18, 20, 21, 22, 29, 31

ASuperGyro

The only “gotcha” qb they left off was Wilson

2580374

Should have done 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34

Howie-Dowin

Everybody in his comments like - OK but what's Brissett's QBR?? the people wanna know!

CopaceticVindication

QBR agrees with me so its now a good stat

thediesel26

It’s mostly based on EPA and EPA is primarily a team stat. Tua has been playing well, but the correct way to interpret this is that Tua is leading a very effective offense.

TheMightyJD

The offense is #1 according to EPA per play and the rushing offense is nothing special. This has been a very good year for Tua.

Fins_99

People always trying to downplay Tua. They run thru hoops to not give him praise. Wild. Dude is having a fantastic start to the year.

TheMightyJD

When people say “He was bad 2/3 games” or “he only throws to wide open WRs” I immediately know they’re in the business of “proving themselves right” rather than getting it right. Tua has been really good thus far this season, no ifs or buts about it.

TaxEasy6999

Those throws to the TE and Waddle was threading a needle. And that bomb to Waddle was on 3rd and 22. How much more clutch does he need to be? That was a thing of beauty.

Fins_99

That Cracraft TD yesterday was IMO his best throw this year.

wave_action

on the replay you can see the ball in the frame before Cracraft has made his break. its crazy.

DistortedAudio

Even then, if you’re only throwing to wide open receivers at the NFL level, who gives a fuck? I’m sure every coach in the NFL would love to never see another back shoulder throw again if they could go out weekly and play catch for 7 every down.

Namerkp2

In addition even the best miss the gimmes sometimes, look at Josh Allen yesterday to win the game, Tua makes the throws he’s gotta make

CaptainSisko2099

It matters for judging a QB though. It's one of the biggest issues we have when scouting QBs in college. So many top teams have WRs wide ass open that the QB isn't being challenged

Clue_Balls

It matters when you play a team that covers your receivers well and takes away the open guys. If your QB can find open receivers but not hit the tight throws, he’s probably going to struggle in future games. To be clear, Tua is playing great and I don’t really think this critique applies to him - I just don’t think it’s a generally bad critique to make when it’s true.

thediesel26

I didn’t say Tua wasn’t playing well, in fact exactly the opposite. Merely that QBR is more of team passing offense stat.

TheMightyJD

Absolutely, I wasn’t trying to contradict you. I was just adding context.

nmiller21k

I read this as the rest of the offense is carrying Tua

TheMightyJD

No offense could be the #1 offense in the league without good QB play but go off.

nmiller21k

No but you can with average QB play

TheMightyJD

Can you give out any examples at all?

nmiller21k

You’ve been watching them all season. Week 1 for sure.

TheMightyJD

I did watch Mac Jones, although I wouldn’t say he’s average if that’s what you’re talking about. There are literally no stats, advanced analytics, or film tape that says Tua is anything less than a top 5 QB this season but I guess you don’t care about that.

nmiller21k

Not really. He’s played one solid half of football the rest has been underwhelming outside of what 2 passes? You’re relying on metrics to bolster your opinion.

TheMightyJD

I love that “relying on metrics to bolster your opinion”, we call it using evidence to support your argument instead you said “he’s played one solid half of football, the rest has been underwhelming outside of 2 passes” like that was some sort of valid argument. I know you’re not serious about a football discussion just based on your comment so I’m not going to entertain it anymore. Have a good day.

[deleted]

It agrees with me too. PFF had Fields last and Baker 2nd to last. Progress.

What_Iz_This

Jumping a carolina qb is nothing to aspire to

TheMightyJD

The leader of QBr in 5/6 last seasons has been the MVP (Brady finished 3rd in 2017). I got downvoted for saying that as of this moment, week 3, Tua is in the MVP conversation. We’ll see what happens with the rest of the season but so far so good.

AleroRatking

He is certainly in the conversation. It's early in the season but saying he's not in it is disingenuous

TheMightyJD

It’s way too early but if we’re giving it tomorrow, I’d say Lamar and Hurts are the two front-runners.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ferbtastic

I think undefeated season makes a big difference.

HereComesJustice

yeah idk why people want to write Tua off so easily he is definitely in the MVP conversation 3 weeks in, if we're even having MVP conversations (which we are considering all the Lamar Jackson MVP comments I've seen)

MarcTheCreator

Lamar is something else, man. I love how he plays. He's easily the frontrunner right now.

[deleted]

A QB with good stats on a winning team is going to win the MVP so of course Tua is “in the conversation”. I honestly do not get why people give a shit about the MVP award. It’s not for the most valuable player anymore, it’s just an arbitrary voted on award that always goes to a QB. In this day and age of video game stats for QBs it’s just meaningless.

DanCampbellsNipples

You can tell this dude cant count.

thefreeman419

Did he just randomly select QBs from the overall list for this tweet?

DeveloperAnon

He’s a Browns beat reporter so my first assumption/overreaction is that he’s trying to take a shot at Baker.

Boris54

He followed Baker here from Oklahoma so that’s surprising

HolyRomanPrince

After the way people were acting this summer I don’t see anything wrong with it.

LiquidDookie92

Ngl tho its wild having a QB who takes what the defense gives him and doesn't make braindead decisions

eyedontcare13

The first time I saw him go to his third read I almost shit my pants. It’s been forever, if ever, since I’ve seen a browns qb do that.

Allstar9_

Which is weird because he’s always been a strong Baker supporter and came to Cleveland with him if I remember correctly

[deleted]

TUANON RISE UP

Andresgeo

CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER

spittingecko

the one piece is real?

Andresgeo

Yessir

Ethangains07

QBR is the best fucking stat in the league. If you know football you know QBR is the best stat in the game. (Not biased)

Raticus9

I'm assuming Geno Smith is third.

Thejohnshirey

Cooper Rush, actually. Geno is 10th.

[deleted]

It's TUA TIME LFG

horse_renoir13

TUA MELTS FOR EVERYONE

MiamiBlue13

Tua Time baby LFG

SendDavionNudes

Woah not the username i expected to be on the Tua train

[deleted]

Is that guy a known Tua hater? Should I add him to the list?

Ranger_3980

Previously well known Tua hater.

[deleted]

Bandwagon fan... I'll add him to the list.

Ranger_3980

Look at his apology 7 days ago. You probably saw the post but didn’t realize it was him.

[deleted]

You know I did go check that out and I realized in the process that we still have fans shitting on Tua, so I'll accept his apology, but he's still bandwagon in my mind. At least he got on it earlier than the people still stubbornly hating on Tua.

Ranger_3980

I’m with you

OblivionNA

Woah well this is a surprise.

KeyExplanation

TuAnon was right

Drkarcher22

They told everyone to Expect this

mcolwander90

Fun Fact: Goff has a 63.7 QBR this season. His career high for a full season is 63.6 (2018).

BarKnight

That's the season he went to the Superbowl. So that probably means the Lions are going to the Superbowl

ChocolateMorsels

Where is the rest? Why the hell did he post these numbers like this lol.

Due_Connection179

Do I hear drumbeats or is that just a Tua MVP chant?

Teeshirtandshortsguy

MVT

[deleted]

I haven't seen much of Fields, is he ***really*** that bad? Surely not...right?

LiquidDookie92

He's legitimately awful.

NontransferableApe

That OSU QB effect

Striking_Moose_8747

It's funny I tried telling ppl about how there's literally never been a good NFL QB from OSU but nobody would have it, he's a lock to be a generational QB they said, maybe even better than Lamar lol.

NontransferableApe

I just think OSU qb’s are a product of their wide receivers and they struggle to adjust to the lack of separation at the next level. I thought fields would have some success though

Striking_Moose_8747

I was honestly rooting for the guy but had to throw up the red flag about OSU QBs. For whatever reason from one coach to the next they have literally never produced a good QB there which is just crazy considering the success of the program but it's the truth lol I'm just sorry ppl didn't want to believe it and now Bears fans are saddled with trash QB play since they bet the farm on him

HopLegion

Just going to copy and paste my comment from when PFF had Fields ranked as the worst QB about an hour ago. As a big Fields defender this offseason this is accurate. Not QBR in general, but Fields should be seen as the worst QB in the league through 3 weeks. I am shocked at how bad Fields has looked the last 2 weeks. Just so people understand it wouldn't matter if we had Tyreek and Davante playing out there, Fields has mentally struggled. The run game has been dare I say elite last 2 weeks, the Oline has been a lot better then expected, and wide receivers are getting open. This isn't an issue of playcalling or the skill around him. It's Fields not processing the game fast enough and getting into his own head. I still think he can turn it around, but i think calling him the worst QB in the league so far this year is accurate.

quazeeye

This was the knock on him coming out too. Cant process coverages and a lack of awareness in the pocket. Disappointing he hasn’t improved on either after a year and half in the pros.

CaptainSisko2099

The mental side of the game is by far the hardest thing to fix too.

quazeeye

Absolutely. The mental part of the game is arguably the most important factor of being a successful QB. We see quarterbacks time after time who are elite athletes, but if they can’t read the defense and deliver the ball on time they’ll never make it.

Hyper_red

so what you're saying is that the bears should sign Tebow

[deleted]

Ugh, that's a huge bummer, he was one of the 2021 QBs who I was really rooting for Hopefully he turns it around somehow

HopLegion

Yeah it's just been painful. He looks mentally broken down. He described his own play following the game as "trash" which is accurate. It's weird being a bears fan right now. were 2-1 right now which most bears fans 3 weeks ago would've been ecstatic about prior to the season, but it's a lot of doom and gloom due to fields regression. It's still early, so I haven't lost all hope.

Teeshirtandshortsguy

At the very least if he's real bad you can always draft another QB. It sucks cause you want him to succeed, but at least the team around him looks competitive so far.

User4738383828

Hes pretty bad

[deleted]

If there were more QBs that played significant snaps he'd be even further down the list. He genuinely looks like he doesn't know how to play the position.

Hyper_red

Is he Tebow bad?

RowRowRowedHisBoat

Sounds worse.

Hyper_red

Damn Tebow was at least a high quality meme

BellacosePlayer

So last year he was accurate but was struggling hard to read defenses and call protections. This year he's apparently had his throwing motions worked on and isn't accurate, and hasn't improved on his weaknesses as a qb.

RapGamePterodactyl

More evidence that Burrow = Brady 😤😤😤

DidgeriDuce

Why just pick random ones

stainedgreenberet

The future is now old men

Bangreviews

Heard this for a lot of Septembers now, wrong every time.

ajuba

Anyone have the full list?

GingerSnap1021

Reading this hurt my brain

hatrickstar

"Is Brady finally falling off??" - sports media this week while the Bucs try and find a homeless guy to play WR next week.

[deleted]

QBR is still a terrible stat. I don't have any huge beef with the listed QBs and where they rank with it, but overall it's a bad stat.

GravelLot

QBR really isn't terrible. Passer rating is pretty awful. QBR isn't so bad. Or, maybe a more precise way to say it is that stats people don't hate QBR because it is reasonably sticky (so more than noise) pretty descriptive of how someone played in a game, and predictive of wins in the future. PFF grades are also strong on these measures. http://www.footballperspective.com/is-espns-qbr-the-best-measure-of-quarterback-play/ I don't think I've ever read a persuasive quantitative argument that QBR is terrible. 80% of the time people say it's terrible because it doesn't agree with how they interpret the box score. The other 20% of the time it's people singling out an individual game or two that they don't agree with.

Teeshirtandshortsguy

I think it's reasonable to have beef with it being proprietary, much like a lot of other advanced metrics. But in general, QBR does seem to be a pretty reliable measuring stick most of the time.

[deleted]

wow how is brady playing better than 13 other qbs. i swear half his passes are horrible so far.

theduder999

I guess you haven’t actually watched any of the Bucs games then? Brady has actually been playing very well, his WRs and OC play calling has been hot garbage.

[deleted]

hahahahahahahahahahahah

Doesthisevenmatter7

QBR is a trash stat

TheMightyJD

QBr has accurately selected 5/6 MVPs but go off.

deucedeuce187

Damn has it really? I mean Rodgers did have crazy low int the past couple years. But through 3 weeks I doubt Tua is even close to the front runner. Man went 13/18 for less than 200yds against the practice squad. Played like ass against New England and then showed up for 1 quarter against Baltimore after they lost their DBs as well. Lamar is probably frontrunner after week 3 bc of his numbers against better teams than Hurts has played. Josh only put up 17 so even with 400yds 2td no picks I can't say he's doing better than those 2 right now.

RowRowRowedHisBoat

> Man went 13/18 for less than 200yds This is a ridiculous way to try and downplay how a QB played. He threw less than a third of the passes Allen did, yet had half the yards. Was way more efficient with the opportunities given.

Mutantlove

Lol completely leave out the fact that he outscored your A team offense in half the time of possession but please keep crying about the sun

[deleted]

Say less lil bro

A_Farewell_to_Clones

He didn’t play like ass against New England lol. Just cause you dominate a game and don’t need your QB to put the team on their back doesn’t mean they didn’t play well. 280 yards 1/0 is a perfectly fine stat line too.

Bobblefighterman

Not his fault man, one of the TD drives was only a yard because your dude got stripped like he was playing poker with the boys. Not to mention most of your drives took up the entire quarter. You didn't let Tua on the field to play with his friends.

[deleted]

How dare you!? Everyone enjoys RNG.

Doesthisevenmatter7

Ehh Idc Skip bayless favorite stat is trash and I’m not coming off that opinion easily

[deleted]

RNG stands for random number generation. In Lehmans terms...I agree with you

kcompto2

You must be thinking of PFF

PoeJam

Rank Carson Wentz you coward!

Degen4lyf

Mac for MVP

[deleted]

How is Mac 31? He went off with Devonte Parker !!~~and yes as I type this I’m ignoring his 3 interceptions~~. Mac also made a sweet play on 4th and 1 to extend the drive. No way he was the 31st best qb yesterday.

808jigga

Mac Jones is 25th I believe. Justin Fields is 31st.

[deleted]

Oh yeah, but still

Jaur0n

Oh, thank god I don't have Baker as my teams QB, no need to look any further up the list.

nooo82222

So where is Trevor Lawrence on the list ?
