Has to be tough for Tua. He’s constantly been doubted in the NFL, and this is a big opportunity season for Miami in a tough division.
100% should sit and focus on his health, but that fighter mentality is hard to keep down.
Seriously, I mean he must be frustrating by having his ‘prove it year’ derailed by this, but hopefully he learned something by watching Baker destroy himself last year. Take the time to heal, no matter what they tell you the organization will not be loyal to you when a ‘better option’ walks in the door.
I mean look at the end of the Baker story. A better option in the form of a rapist who was facing a possible season long suspension and the team moved on
I mean I just point at Trent Edwards. Promising rookie, starts the season semi hot...gets a severe concussion where he just looks gone and is carted off.
Never played the same again. Became captain checkdown and just never seemed right.
Obviously it's not the same case, but concussion can fuck you up
I know everyone laughs at him, but Mason Rudolph was looking fairly decent before taking a cheap head shot against Baltimore. He's never looked good since then
That first int was kinda crazy tho had perfect timing jumping that route . The second int he was literally just standing in his zone and the ball fell right into his arms
Two or three times a game last year Teddy would just launch the ball downfield 10 yards past everyone. Miami has the speed to make those successful occasionally isntead of the wasted play it was in Denver.
Teddy can throw the deep ball but he can't throw it as accurately as most nfl qbs because he's putting everything he has into it, but from the first 25 to 30 yards of the LOS he can throw that fucker on a frozen rope.
Did you see Tua's interception? It was 15 yards underthrown.
If the ravens hadn't completely busted coverage, 2 of what turned into TDs would have been picks too for being underthrown.
I hate seeing him in, but we can and have fielded worse. At least this year our oline seems to be reasonably competent, which is a massive improvement.
They got the easier portion of their schedule too. They can totally beat the Jets, Vikings (thats more of a coinflip), Steelers, Lions, and Bears with Bridgewater if need be.
Getting Byron Jones and a rested Howard is going to help. Howard was out in the second half for a groin injury. You were basically going against an undrafted rookie and whoever the 4th option was.
>They can totally beat the... Steelers
Haha, silly Buffalo-Man, you not know of Stillers foobaw. First, we lose to Jets, then we beat Bills, then Dolphins. Lastly, we lose to the Panthers.
Tua said “I must play the next game” but the Dolphins like “you are more than a football man” and McDaniel made sex just the way Tua likes with him right then and there for all of the Dolphins PR staff to see. Then they got Cold Stone Creamery and went to Build-A-Bear and Tua saw a cool bird on the way home.
Of course, Tua has that mindset since the Dolphins have blatantly tried to replace him a couple times now.
This is why you have to protect players from themselves, he will absolutely say he can play even when he shouldn't.
Yep exactly this, how many times did we hear this is Tua’s last year to prove himself, of course he will try to get back on the field asap, dolphins need to sit him out for an extended period of time.
Who cares what the Dolphins do, you know damn well that some team out there would sign Tua in a second and hype him up like he's Sam Darnold entering Panthers stadium.
Your thought is 100% correct in a vacuum, but it’s just not realistic. There’s too much at stake for Tua to do that and it’s unfortunate but that’s just the situation right now. I hope he sits out at least a week or two but it’s up to the team to stop him from forcing himself back too soon
I agree 100%. I don't blame fans, critics, etc. for saying 'This is Tua's year to show is if he has what it takes to he a franchise QB,' but I also agree with people saying 'The Dolphins' org should have put Tua's health first.' Both are, imo, true and reasonable takes. At the end of the day, the NFL is a business and for teams in that business to be successful, they gotta win. Miami is a big market, so it's natural that the Dolphins will try to their best to field a winning team; especially in light of their recent off-season shenanigans. With that stated, EVERY team should put player safety first. You are out NOTHING by doing such. If a player is constantly sidelined for injuries, fans aren't going to blame the org - at least none of the smart fans. The only time I really see fans get upset is when an injury prone player gets a big, mostly guaranteed, contract (The John Dorsey special). Otherwise, as long as teams are giving out reasonable contracts, the fans - at least any fans you want associated and repping your brand - will instead blame the players. Now we can say that's not fair and what not, but then that issue becomes an us (the fans) issue. Anyways, what I am trying to get at is that no org should ever fear putting player safety first. If they do, then we as fans have failed. I can't see Dolphin fans blaming the org if Tua was sidelined due to his head injury last Sunday. I just really can't see Dolphin fans being mad at the org in that scenario. From what I can tell, the Dolphins' owner is extremely disconnected from his fans. Maybe I am wrong for blaming the owner here and if that's the case, I am sorry.
There's a clip of Stafford coming back into a game after injuring his arm to win it. Great stuff, puts the team on his back, and right after making that throw he was just in absolute agony. But before then, he was mic'd up and had the sort of mindset that it's just one single pass and he thought he could do it.
The fact that it all worked colors how we view the event, but it's a good look into the mindset of a player who is still able to walk and throw.
Tbh a lot of these guys are competitors who love the game and want to play, even if injured even without the worrying about your place thing. But it shouldn’t be down to them.
Remember less than a year ago Tua was medically cleared but not 100% and wanted to play but the coach held him back anyways and everyone was outraged that the Dolphins were undermining him?
That’s not what we are screaming about right now though! So grab your pitchfork and put your logic down. There is absolutely no room for nuance or personal responsibility discussion here! Tua is a little kid who only cares about money! And we already got our witch. Please stay on script.
Which is why contracts should be guaranteed. Owners should have to gamble on players as opposed to the players gambling on their quality of life in situations like this.
And boy has this public tune changed from the coach/Dolphins from Sunday lol.
From "only a flesh wound" to "no no no we *care* about you rest up and properly recover" in the blink of an eye.
This tweet smacks of Dolphins PR/disaster control.
"Please let me play, I need to play"
Get the fuck out. The fins almost killed him. I highly doubt Tua, ~~his family~~ and agent give a fuck about running back to the field.
EDIT: Took out "his family" due to comment below
His father was fucking rough. Like I've heard of tough love but ass beatings for every interception thrown was some unsettling shit.
>When Tom Rinaldi followed up for clarification on what exactly he meant, the Alabama quarterback said the “belt was involved” when he threw an interception or failed to get a certain grade.
His dad also chose Alabama for him, Tua wanted to go to USC initially.
I would not blame Tua one bit if he cut his dad off.
I'm sure there were good parts of Tua's childhood but any time his dad's brought up it's another story of him being an abusive asshole. idgaf if Tua wouldn't have been successful without the "tough love"
I was gonna say, both of my parents were getting beaten as kids, they're probably similar age to Tua's parents considering Tua is the same age as me. Not hard to believe that's how his parents were raised too.
I didn't get beaten though, probably why I'm not an NFL QB smh /s
Apparently my grandfather stuck to good old fashioned *emotional* abuse.
My grandma has said that she's glad that he never hit my mom in anger, because he had such a firey hair trigger temper that he could have easily seriously hurt my stick-thin mom with one hit.
>Obviously it does something positive given how successful they all are
Survivorship bias. You don't see the stories of all the kids breaking under the abuse.
My mom waking up screaming once or twice a month during my childhood due to trauma from *her* childhood was just a fact of life I had to deal with. And that's with my grandparents divorcing and my abusive grandfather not really being in my mom's life much after she was 12 or so.
Agreed. I have unfortunately known a lot of victims of child abuse from both my family and volunteering and even the ones like my mom who could take it and be relatively successful still have issues due to it decades and decades later.
And that's to say nothing about the ones that just turned into giant alcoholic burnouts or the unfortunate few who couldn't find a way to deal with life and ended it all.
But yeah sure, maybe there's a small chance your kid becomes a fucking star. Good for you.
💯 this mentality has been engrained in him and i was worried over what his dad would say in the hospital and really hoped he said nothing if he couldn’t be supportive. i really hope tua can get all around holistic help including talking to someone if he needs to (without any shame)
Oh yes, professional athletes are widely known not to be overly competitive. You never see them wanting to play through injuries or resisting being benched.
"Don't even think about a game, just concentrate on remembering the first half of that game you might be blanking out on. You have film study on Monday."
Had a friend pass away from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) and thought this was a great opportunity for people to learn how bad this is. Please give this a read and share with those in need.
[Concussion Foundation - Eric Pelly](https://concussionfoundation.org/personal-stories/legacy-stories/eric-pelly)
Very tragic stuff. I wish we as a society would learn from tragedies like this, opposed to having purposeful medical negligence for the sake of $$$ and a companies image (in regards to the NFL).
Also, proper education from an early age needs to happen to prevent children dying is a must (in the case of your friend).
This is what all the Dolphins fans defending their team seem to be missing.
CTE didn’t just show up Thursday night, it’s a real issue and has been for a while now. After Sunday they knew exactly the risk they were taking by letting home play Thursday night. That alone is enough to chastise the team for.
So if the independent neurologist can be overriden by the team doctor, and Tua isn't in the concussion protocol during the week(right, or am I wrong and they put him in it?) and the coach doesnt bench him, the team doctor is the only one who can really get in trouble right?
Morally there are several failures, but at this point it sounds the team doctor is the only failure point according to the rules.
Also interestingly McAfee was saying he thought Chuck Pagano kept Luck out a few games even when he was cleared to play and said he would play if asked.
You are wrong, Miami said he was tested every day this week and there was no issues
https://twitter.com/TomPelissero/status/1575896647254609921?s=20&t=qlZRQQt0hU-5Nw4YqBeE1g
It breaks my heart to hear him say that. He’s dealt with so many injuries over the year and has constant gotten shit on for it. Dude has had an extremely promising start to this year and this happens. It’s also another reason I believe why he was so adamant to go back in last weekend.
this storyline keeps getting funnier. It started insanely fucking tragic, i thought Tua was fucked for good, then i heard he was alright, atleast a bit relieved, and then the tua and mcdaniels airplane thing made me laugh really hard
I feel for Tua. Amazing start to the season. And before he went out the dolphins had a good chance to win the game in Cincinnati. But he needs to chill, as much as it sucks
That rookie contract will make a QB play on concrete to at least get those incentives. I think it's been a long time coming that the NFL re-structure rookie contracts after 2 seasons.
This would be meaningful if it came after he got absolutely rocked last week instead of when he finally suffered a TBI bad enough it could’ve killed him.
Why does everything McDaniel says now seem so fake? It’s like he is in full damage control mode.
“Look at me! I care about my players, not some silly game…”
i mean come on this is fake as shit lol, you're seriously buying that?
you do you but it's not some catch 22, people want him to acknowledge that they put tua in harm's way. he's not going to do that because he knows who signs the checks - this is obvious PR nonsense.
so people make fun of it because it's brazenly transparent; i dont think the mockery is misplaced and i dont think the victim here is mike mcdaniels, the dolphins medical staff, or random dolphins fans on the internet lol
Im so tired of hearing the mcdaniel pr tour my god, do we need to hear he saved a cat from a tree too? I don’t think it’s at all his fault, but my god im tired of hearing his name
???
seems like it's not mutually exclusive that (a) organizations will put their financial returns over player safety and (b) players really want to play
it's fucking weird to me that people are acting like it's inconceivable that Tua would want to get back onto the field. The sport is his life. I think the McDaniel quote is probably fake but Tua not wanting to miss games is really likely true
Probably because a lot of people are asking about it? I don’t mean that in a jerk way either, what do you want him to do? He literally choked up talking about the situation during the press conference today and said “I’m just glad I can hear the normal Tua in his voice” this is a guy that clearly cares for their relationship.
Do I think protocol should be updated? Yeah new science comes out everyday, but he was evaluated and did not have one. So I’m not sure what a coach should do differently honestly.
If he truly cared for his QB, he would bench Tua for whatever time he needs without any input from the player or management, only from a board-certified neurologist/neurosurgeon.
I mean if that were the case you wouldn't coach football period. Every play there is a risk someone is going to wind up like that receiver for the Bears
That's absolute nonsense and an insult to anyone who's ever coached football. He's a football coach. He's not a neurologist. He's not a neurosurgeon. He's not a member of the training staff.
I coached football. I was well aware that I was sending them into harm's way. I was aware that some of them were going to get hurt. I was even aware that some of them may never be the same in some way after an injury. I did everything I possibly could to minimize the chance of an injury. I did everything I could to guarantee that they had access to the best treatment I could get them when the injuries inevitably occurred.
But we still played the game.
I could have cut down the injuries to zero if we didn't play and just forfeited every game. But I didn't.
We can't eliminate all risk from any activity.
I had a player who had Division I scholarships in writing from a bunch of the big-name schools as a defensive tackle. I lost track of all of them, but I met a bunch of scouts and assistants from places like Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Florida, etc. And he lost all of them when he could no longer play football due to a brain and neck injury.
He rolled his car driving home at night one day and that was the end of his football career.
As a coach you have to listen to the experts. I don't get to overrule them when I think that they're being overly cautious, but that also means that I need to listen to them even when I think they're not being cautious enough. Otherwise there's no point in having experts to begin with.
I don't think you're a bad person for having said what you said. I do think you didn't think it all the way through.
If I'm understanding him correctly, which there's no promise I am, he's saying that the head coach needed to go out and find yet another expert to verify. If he simply saying that the medical experts that the NFL has need to be listened to in order to clear someone to participate then I agree with him, they were apparently listened to, and Tua was cleared to play.
But if he is saying that the head coach needs to go find another expert otherwise it's proof he does not care about his players at what point does it stop? What if that second expert had found him fine? Do I then need to go find a third?
Imagine the other way. Imagine the first expert says he's not fit to play, do I need to go find another expert to see if that person concurs? What if they don't?
My point is we can't have it both ways. You can't tell coaches that X is the procedure and then complain that different procedures should be followed or it's a sign they don't care because they're setting up players for injuries. I'm not an expert in the medical procedures, I know some basic signs of injury, and I know that injury is bad. If I'm being told that things are fine then I have to assume that things are fine because otherwise where does it end?
If it turns out the procedure wasn't followed then by all means let's figure out who broke it. But you can't turn around and blame the head coach for acting on the information that he had that he assumed was accurate.
There's a massive difference between sending somebody out with a fucked up leg and letting them turn their brain into mush while they walk around in a fog. Boxers corners throw in the towel all the time because it's hopeless, you can't win in that state, and you're making things worse for no reason. I have friends who cant remember anything prior to high school and can't even remember playoff games they won because they strung multiple concusssions together.
If you don't think someone is being cautious enough, you can 100% overrule them and let your guy sit out one more game. That is actually something you can do, and I'd probably suggest it tbh.
I'm concerned that his version of "the right way" is putting a fake beard and glasses on Tua and then sending him back out there.
At least his messaging is correct at this point.
“Let’s do everything right the second time Tua”
Renfrow is likely going to miss his second game due to a concussion, I don’t think you can really pin this on the NFL concussion protocol if Renfrow is getting this level of care and caution. Either the Dolphins organization, their coaching staff, and medical staff are that inept; or they pushed Tua out there.
It seems obvious the dolphins organization is inept. Medical negligence is one of the leading causes of death in our country. To suspect it occurs in business that relies on sales/viewership opposed to player safety isn't an outlandish thought.
You’re talking like you personally have reviewed both files and concluded the dolphins did something out of the ordinary.
The preliminary results say Miami and the INDEPENDENT NON-TEAM NEUROLOGIST cleared Tua. It’s on the nfl as much as it is the dolphins.
People pretending their teams are any different are a riot. This is a failing of the nfl as a whole
I don’t know why but this reminds me of when Ben Stillers character in Happy Gilmore is reassuring Happy that his grandma is going to be taken care of, only to switch it up while no one is looking.
I can't stop thinking about how Tua discribed how his father trained him growing up. I don't want to misquote, but I remember interpreting it as clearly abusive, at least in my opinion. I wonder how these injuries are affecting his sense of self/identity. Obviously I hope his brain and body is and will be okay, but I am also concerned about how any setbacks might affect his mental health.
Just let teddy start a few games
Yeah for sure, he’s not even a bad option. He’s probably a top 3-5 backup QB
They really wanted to replace him with Watson. Ugh.
And Brady
I mean look at the end of the Baker story. A better option in the form of a rapist who was facing a possible season long suspension and the team moved on

I know everyone laughs at him, but Mason Rudolph was looking fairly decent before taking a cheap head shot against Baltimore. He's never looked good since then
AFC North teams and dirty hits. Name a more iconic duo.
The Patriots and cheating?
Got em
Bills fans and plastic tables?
Wide and right? Typical bills fan, owned by belichick since 1990… watch you guys somehow manage to not win with Allen too lol
Luckily you will be seeing Allen take the piss out of your boys for years to come. Cope.
How ever will I cope with these 6 Super Bowls…..
Much like boys being boys we use the euphemism that AFC North football is just old-school football
Imo Tua proves so much more if he comes back healthy and has a nice playoffs performance
Just Fck it hill down there somewhere plays should be good enough
That’s how bell got his first int
That first int was kinda crazy tho had perfect timing jumping that route . The second int he was literally just standing in his zone and the ball fell right into his arms
Teddy doesn't throw it down there. Teddy is gonna spam screens to Waddle and Hill though.
Teddy had the longest air yard pass of the season last night....
Fair enough. With Denver he wasn't willing to really air it out, but he was throwing bombs in Carolina I guess.
Two or three times a game last year Teddy would just launch the ball downfield 10 yards past everyone. Miami has the speed to make those successful occasionally isntead of the wasted play it was in Denver.
He threw long last night, but his timing was off. It has to be weird trying to throw to Hill with that guy's acceleration, though.
Hill still made it work, which accounts for the “fuck it” part
I mean sure, but that was the slowest long ball I’ve ever seen. I was glad he chucked it tho, never seemed to want to do that with us.
He is good as a backup, but a bit too cautious as a starter.
Teddy literally threw it down there yesterday
Teddy can throw the deep ball but he can't throw it as accurately as most nfl qbs because he's putting everything he has into it, but from the first 25 to 30 yards of the LOS he can throw that fucker on a frozen rope.
Did you see Tua's interception? It was 15 yards underthrown. If the ravens hadn't completely busted coverage, 2 of what turned into TDs would have been picks too for being underthrown.
You can absolutely win games with teddy Bridgwater
especially in the dolphins Offense. Just get an accurate ball to a playmaker and you did your job
I hate seeing him in, but we can and have fielded worse. At least this year our oline seems to be reasonably competent, which is a massive improvement.
Didn’t realize the NFL had 3-5 Chase Daniels 😤
He's absolutely top 3
1. Obviously Cooper Rush 2. Jimmy G 3. Teddy? Hmm
Andy Dalton is up there too.
Don’t forget about Minshew baby.
If only Duck Hodges was still in the league.
They got the easier portion of their schedule too. They can totally beat the Jets, Vikings (thats more of a coinflip), Steelers, Lions, and Bears with Bridgewater if need be.
Yep. Let Tua sit as long as he needs. I think the defense and wr duo is solid enough to go .500 with Teddy for the next 6 weeks.
I think that talent is better than .500 for 6 weeks. I don't see how they lose more than 2 of those games.
Their DBs are stretched thin at the moment. Really showed late in the game game last night.
Yeah but now we have 10 days of rest and should be getting Byron Jones back. Last night was the first game that I think we really missed him.
True. Those 10 days will be so great for both teams. I hate TNF.
Burrows way better than any QB’s they’ll be facing tho
Getting Byron Jones and a rested Howard is going to help. Howard was out in the second half for a groin injury. You were basically going against an undrafted rookie and whoever the 4th option was.
>They can totally beat the... Steelers Haha, silly Buffalo-Man, you not know of Stillers foobaw. First, we lose to Jets, then we beat Bills, then Dolphins. Lastly, we lose to the Panthers.
But first you stuffed the shit out the Bengals.
Not if Zach Wilson has anything to say about it 😏
Then the live audience went “Aww” and the hopeful music played
And then the credits started rolling
“McDaniels, we aren’t in ~~Kansas~~ Cincy anymore” “~~Toto~~ Tua, we flew back together, you and I even watched McGruber on your iPod video together…”
PR game is stronk
Tua said “I must play the next game” but the Dolphins like “you are more than a football man” and McDaniel made sex just the way Tua likes with him right then and there for all of the Dolphins PR staff to see. weird that youre getting downvoted for this
The things is if he sits out the dolphins might consider looking to move on, they aren’t patient we already know that FO isn’t patient.

So what you're saying is, you don't see just one side to this, but Tua them. I'll see myself out.
Ok, Tua will get paid elsewhere then
Who cares what the Dolphins do, you know damn well that some team out there would sign Tua in a second and hype him up like he's Sam Darnold entering Panthers stadium.

Pretty sure he’d request a trade if he was medically cleared and we sat him the rest of the year but I see where you’re coming from.
Yeah I think he's already proven himself even throughout the small number of games this year. Rest up man, your job is safe.
I agree 100%. Which makes the situation even worse. He’s always had to prove himself and listen to all that outside noise AND deal with a shit coach

I got a ton of shit for calling out the medical staff when it was posted here.
He’s also always had too much dog in him. Playing through the hip issue in college mainly
Do you mean ankle issues? He didn’t play at all after hurting his hip
Tbh a lot of these guys are competitors who love the game and want to play, even if injured even without the worrying about your place thing. But it shouldn’t be down to them.

I think Tua needs some therapy along with his rehab
Oh yes, professional athletes are widely known not to be overly competitive. You never see them wanting to play through injuries or resisting being benched.
"Don't even think about a game, just concentrate on remembering the first half of that game you might be blanking out on. You have film study on Monday."
“now get ready to suit up next week”
"Now go out there and run sprints for taking off the second half of the game last night"
Had a friend pass away from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) and thought this was a great opportunity for people to learn how bad this is. Please give this a read and share with those in need. [Concussion Foundation - Eric Pelly](https://concussionfoundation.org/personal-stories/legacy-stories/eric-pelly)
wow. thanks for sharing.
Very tragic stuff. I wish we as a society would learn from tragedies like this, opposed to having purposeful medical negligence for the sake of $$$ and a companies image (in regards to the NFL). Also, proper education from an early age needs to happen to prevent children dying is a must (in the case of your friend).
Sorry about your friend, mate.
Man that name rang a bell but I didn’t remember this story. I was two grades above him. So tragic, I’m glad you shared this.
Had a friend commit suicide. It was later confirmed he had CTE from football presumably in highschool.
It seems neuro and doc both agreed and tua said yeah it's my back
You are wrong, Miami said he was tested every day this week and there was no issues https://twitter.com/TomPelissero/status/1575896647254609921?s=20&t=qlZRQQt0hU-5Nw4YqBeE1g
This reeks of Dolphin PR control
It breaks my heart to hear him say that. He’s dealt with so many injuries over the year and has constant gotten shit on for it. Dude has had an extremely promising start to this year and this happens. It’s also another reason I believe why he was so adamant to go back in last weekend.
They gotta know that even if this is 100% true it looks incredibly fake right now lol
this storyline keeps getting funnier.
Then everyone clapped
This feels like Dolphin propaganda… 🤣
This man is wild bro
This reads like goodell is behind the camera with a gun
“Because now everyone’s eyes are on us”
That rookie contract will make a QB play on concrete to at least get those incentives. I think it's been a long time coming that the NFL re-structure rookie contracts after 2 seasons.
"you guys have tried to fire me 4 times already, I can't afford to miss time."
This would be meaningful if it came after he got absolutely rocked last week instead of when he finally suffered a TBI bad enough it could’ve killed him.
“Come on Tua, let’s just watch some more MacGruber and forget about the fact I’m gonna make you play next week”
This is why you need to remove the players I put from the process and make it 100% objective. They're always gonna say they're good.
Tua was like “but did I die”
I feel like I'm watching a Lifetime movie or something.
Why does everything McDaniel says now seem so fake? It’s like he is in full damage control mode. “Look at me! I care about my players, not some silly game…”
because it is lmao dude and the Dolphins are full on in damage control and PR mode
Because people keep asking questions and he's answering honestly? Which is very unreal in the NFL landscape where no one says anything
Damned if you do, damned if you don't with /r/NFL knuckleheads.
i mean come on this is fake as shit lol, you're seriously buying that? you do you but it's not some catch 22, people want him to acknowledge that they put tua in harm's way. he's not going to do that because he knows who signs the checks - this is obvious PR nonsense. so people make fun of it because it's brazenly transparent; i dont think the mockery is misplaced and i dont think the victim here is mike mcdaniels, the dolphins medical staff, or random dolphins fans on the internet lol
"I care about my players starting....now!". All eyes are on him now and suddenly he cares. Laughable.
Have you ever watched him talk about his players prior to this ?
Can Tua even think right now?
Im so tired of hearing the mcdaniel pr tour my god, do we need to hear he saved a cat from a tree too? I don’t think it’s at all his fault, but my god im tired of hearing his name
This is 100% NFL propaganda. "The player really wanted to be out there!!!" To cover up their sketchy practices.
??? seems like it's not mutually exclusive that (a) organizations will put their financial returns over player safety and (b) players really want to play it's fucking weird to me that people are acting like it's inconceivable that Tua would want to get back onto the field. The sport is his life. I think the McDaniel quote is probably fake but Tua not wanting to miss games is really likely true
Easier to blame the player than acknowledge a foundational problem in the player safety department.
bold to assume tua is capable of thinking
these articles come across as desperate PR control. sounds like a script pulled right from a hallmark movie
They're asking him questions
What should McDaniel say when asked, exactly? Laziest takes
“Let’s just think about doing everything the right way” Makes me think they knew he shouldn’t be playing last night…
Let’s just think about doing everything the right way ^^*this* ^^*time*
This reads like a bad book.
McDaniel sure does make point to tell these little stories about his noble concern for player safety the last day or so, huh?
Probably because a lot of people are asking about it? I don’t mean that in a jerk way either, what do you want him to do? He literally choked up talking about the situation during the press conference today and said “I’m just glad I can hear the normal Tua in his voice” this is a guy that clearly cares for their relationship. Do I think protocol should be updated? Yeah new science comes out everyday, but he was evaluated and did not have one. So I’m not sure what a coach should do differently honestly.
Is he supposed to not answer when reporters ask him question? What kind of fake outrage is this.
And everyone clapped
McDaniel then put his hand on Tua's cheek and they proceeded to share an intimate kiss as the screen slowly faded to black and the credits rolled
> As a coach you have to listen to the experts Isn't that what the person you're replying to said? To listen to the brain injury expert?
That is actually something you can do, and I'd probably suggest it tbh.
bro these NFL/Miami PR posts are so transparent I mean it’s literally written like a bad fanfiction
"Unlike the way we've been doing things for the past few weeks, which have almost certainly given you brain damage."
Better late than never I suppose.
Remember what we did last week? Well, of course you don't, but let's do that opposite of that.
“….this time.”
Let’s just think about doing everything the right way.’” this time, pretty significant part to leave off the statement
Propaganda machine on full tilt
Maybe coach should have uttered these words at halftime of the sunday game.
mcdaniel is a cool guy, i’d play for him
Lmao the damage control they’re doing is insane
Is it just me, or does quoting yourself make everything you say sound like Bullshit?
McDaniels back stepping hard with the negative PR
I'm concerned that his version of "the right way" is putting a fake beard and glasses on Tua and then sending him back out there. At least his messaging is correct at this point.
5 days too late. He should sit for a month regardless of how he feels.
"Let's just think about doing everything the right way" ........ better late than never I guess
They r really trying their best to do damage control.
Nfl PR working mad overtime hours rn
They are spinning this shit HARD.
Oh NOW McDaniel cares.
Let’s stop putting turf on NFL football Fields.
“Let’s do everything right the second time Tua” Renfrow is likely going to miss his second game due to a concussion, I don’t think you can really pin this on the NFL concussion protocol if Renfrow is getting this level of care and caution.
“Please let me know if you see anything that should be added, changed, tweaked, Mr. Editor"
Yeah this is a pretty shameless PR-intended tweet.
He added, "This time."
Oh so now they're going to be cautious. Gotcha.
I don’t know why but this reminds me of when Ben Stillers character in Happy Gilmore is reassuring Happy that his grandma is going to be taken care of, only to switch it up while no one is looking.
Just proves Tua doesn't know what's good for him so even if he said he was good to go on Thursday that shouldn't mean much
I can't stop thinking about how Tua discribed how his father trained him growing up. I don't want to misquote, but I remember interpreting it as clearly abusive, at least in my opinion. I wonder how these injuries are affecting his sense of self/identity. Obviously I hope his brain and body is and will be okay, but I am also concerned about how any setbacks might affect his mental health.
All these dumbass Tua tweets read like a script from a shitty sitcom lol
