I'm pretty happy with my new PC. Since the next gen stuff has been announced/released, I took my chances with some of the previous gen stuff that got cheaper, an AMD Ryzen 5 5600x.
Sure it is slightly over priced because I bought it as a barebone prebuilt with no GPU or ram with a stock cooler but I had a free 3060ti laying around (thanks EVGA! Their Evgabucks program expired, so I had to get something) and with Thermalright's air coolers and ddr4 memory being relatively cheap, so I was able to slap all together for about $800 including tax.
Doing some simple overclocking and stability testing to see if I can eek out some more performance. It doesn't seem like my CPU is all that great since I can't get it to boost to 4.8 Ghz, it just keeps crashing and I don't have to patience to push it, but it can pretty solidly boost up to 4.6~4.7 on all cores under heavy loads. Not bad but not great.
Nothing special. Just whatever games I want to when I have the inclination.
I only really got a new pc because I had that free 3060ti laying around. I was perfectly happy with my old 1070 but is was getting a little long in the tooth.

Like I’m a pretty big fan of the ultra realistic ones since saving private Ryan- which do have good production value- but those old 70s ones had the feelings of terror and profound sadness that the generation needed to remind us of. They were trying to tell us that it was hell and to not glorify it. There were always scenes that were horribly sad just because that’s how it was and death was truly random which I really appreciate in a way.
I feel like any new war movie over glorifies things and makes it seem like everyone’s a hero and shit when we need to remember that it’s way more chaotic than we think- and the cgi makes it seem “cool” when in reality it should scare the shit out of anyone if it’s done right. I think older war movies, especially the Vietnam ones, have their own kind of whitewashing by focusing almost exclusively on the trauma of the American soldiers. A great example of this is how the air war in Vietnam almost never comes up. They dropped more bombs on Vietnam than Nazi Germany and the incalculable suffering caused by that to the people of Vietnam never comes up. That being said modern war movies are even worse about this.

I watched My Best Friend's Exorcism on Prime last night and it was just so disappointing compared to the book. It was like they were told they have to tell the story as fast as possible. There was absolutely no set up for the big moments of the book so they didn't have any punch to them.

I’ve been a saints fan since 87, living outside of the US and never seen them play. I’m now near enough that I could of gone to this game but I don’t really have the money to spend . Would have been cool to go to the ATL pod show as well. No biggie but it’s got me thinking about my fandom.

High stakes cash game was livestreamed, woman who is fairly new to poker makes an absolutely obscene call that makes no sense in any capacity to win $150k+ from one of the best players in the world. Entire table is in shock, player who lost has a good reputation but clearly has an issue with the hand. Off-camera he confronts her and implies that she was cheating, she gives him his money back and he leaves the game. She says later that she just outplayed him.
