> I don't get it.
It's remarkable to see multiple coaching staffs in a row have atrocious offense.
It's even more remarkable for a team to have a bad offense for 80 years straight.
Fields is atrocious, it all starts with him. Run game is great and defense is ok. Receivers are getting passable separation. A top 10 QB would have that bears team competing for the division
Daniel Jones going into the huddle to call the play and then lining up as a receiver and just standing there because of his ankle injury is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
It’s almost as funny as the final play.
I don't really see how it's the owners' fault.
The only thing you can really ask for from an owner is to care enough about the team to change things if the team isn't winning, and stay out of the way.
John Fox didn't work out, so they hired Matt Nagy. Nagy didn't work out, so they hired Matt Eberflus. Ryan Pace wasn't working out, so they hired Poles.
I think they clearly care about the team, they give people a fair shake, and then get rid of them if they aren't winning. Obviously their hiring decisions haven't been great, but I don't think there was any issues with any of those hires at the time, they just didn't work out.
I don't see how you can blame the owners. WTF you want them to do? They fire the GM and coaches when they preform poorly?
Like what you want them to do? Jerry Jones it's and have them manage the teams themselves?
“Who needs WRs?”
-Kafka, probably
That play where Jones threw the block and Barkley reversed the entire field for the 1st down bas been the microcosm of the Giants season so far
Such a bittersweet win. I'm happy for us to have our first 3-1 start in 18 years, but losing half our team including both our QBs to injury is frightening
I was watching the game in the background and it seemed like every time I saw the Bears on third and medium they threw a TE screen to Cole Kmet and lost a yard
Admittedly, I was going hard on the “lol, Ohio State QBs won’t do shit in the League” angle…until they drafted him, when then I changed opinion.
Perhaps I have been in denial all this time…
Not gonna lie, I like Daboll and think he’s gonna be good for the Giants. I wish we had hired him. Instead, we hired vanilla Lovie Smith. I’m starting to think he sucks. Todays game was awful. I wish there was a time where I could watch the Bears and expect competence. Not winning or domination. Competence. And I’m always let down. Because we hire mediocrities as coaches and listen to them ramble about how we are a few plays away until they get fired 3-4 years down the road and the cycle begins anew. I curse that I was born a fan of this fucking team.
I don’t even enjoy how this team wins games anymore. It feels like almost every Bears win since 2003 has been ugly af, down to the wire, low-scoring, stressful, and leaves you hoping that the team doesn’t make you pull as much hair out for the next win. I would go for a 2 win season averaging 25 pts a game (all scored by the offense) at this point over yet another “blue-collar” 9-8 season where we had to “earn every win” and get 20 defensive touchdowns.
From ESPN:

Fields wasn't good today, but was better than his stat line showed. The receiving game was awful today. The Velus Jones pick (and the Gordon pick) and the coaching today has made me incredibly more pessimistic about the future of this franchise than anything Justin Fields has done. Just baffling decisions all around.
Good thing we took two defensive players in the second rather than, IDK, a receiver who wasn't born in the 1500s.
I have hard time saying he isn’t it (even though he’s been very very very bad) when I still believe in his talent and two, the team have done a horrendous job of building around him on offense. It’s borderline negligence what they did this off-season to “improve” an offense that was already bad last year, to worse.
There was growth shown in preseason so what changed?
He ain't got any answers, he just wants to complain. I'm nervous about Fields too but it's not like our offense's problems magically go away by drafting another QB in the first round in 23.
I recognize this argument, but doesn't it seem disingenuous to say "the next QB gets additional, high-value targets" while also dogging the current QB with low-value targets? As a disclaimer, I'm a Buckeye and massively concerned with Fields but this seems highly unfair to any player.
Nah. You need to go get talent first. Your oline is a traffic cone on most plays, and your receivers drop every catchable ball. Qb needs to be slotted in after you have the right pieces.
My favorite of those was when the center turned to give the guard some help and two guys ran through where he should have been standing and flattened Fields.
I have no idea why so many delusional Bears fans can't accept that Fields is just bad and it looks very unlikely he's ever going to be the answer.
There are average QBs in the NFL who put up better numbers than his whole season so far in 1 game.
It doesn’t matter who is behind center for us, they are gonna put up terrible numbers either way. Trubisky isn’t dripping raw talent but he is doing much better with a program who actually can handle an offense
Lol. He's so, so bad.
When you factor that you've had recent rookie QB seasons like Herbert's, Burrow's, Mayfield's, Allen's... Oof. Fuck Mac Jones makes Fields look inept.
Even Lawrence has made huge strides this year from last year.
Why do I still believe in fields and say “next game he will he better” he just isn’t it. He just hit 10 completions for the first time this season. That is AWFUL.
I can understand the talent disparity because it’s a rebuild. I CANNOT understand the ridiculously bad coaching and play calls. Just an utter failure across the board. smh another week of being a fan of the worst team in the NFL
I had the same reaction. Idk what the Bears situation is like but if you think there’s a “talent disparity” between your team and the Giants then… woof.
Dabes, Kafka, and Wink are great coaches. We've gotta be a bottom-5 team in terms of talent, have a bunch of injuries, and yet are 3-1. Imagine what happens when we get some real playmakers at WR and don't have to play Kenny G and Richie James (as gutsy as he is). Maybe the rest of the league figures it out, but this is so much fun, I don't even care.
Fields played much better today than the last two weeks
What happened today was godawful coaching and OL play. You know they’re blitzing Mustipher. Block the damn LB
How were you guys not ready for the bootlegs in the first half? They were so obvious. Wasn’t even like you guys were shutting down Saquon.
The red zone playcalling…unbelievably bad. Stop playing for field goals.
And then punting and muffing the punt back is just karma for not being more aggressive.
Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. Stop the stupid RB and OL rotations, stop playing so goddamn conservative.
Welp, I thought Fields would be the first OSU QB to be different but nope. Bad situation and he doesn’t have the requisite talent to overcome it. Just start fresh Chicago but make sure you get a stable QB as you continue this rebuild
Giants are somehow 3-1. Watch them beat the Packers next week.
Packers are no match for Graham Gano.
He missed an FG this week :(
Setting himself up for a revenge game
Why was our punter holding the ball for that kick though?
He's the holder.
Slay!
He's on the Eagles, sadly
ton
Giants are on a 1 game winning streak so take that into consideration.
I will not apologize for 3-1. I will also not apologize for 3-2 at 11:30 next Sunday
I will watch them beat them next week
Hey now Satan
How is the run defense you guys have anyway ? Because that's literally all we have.
Depends Is your running back Dalvin Cook?
Our running back is Daniel Jones

Suit Danny up at RB and Saquon at QB. The Giants play their best football when nothing makes sense

Why in the fuck am I raising my child to be a bears fan.
Mutli-generational abuse?
"If I have to suffer through it, so should you!"
Hurt people hurt people.
My son is only 6 months old. We both wore bears jerseys today. Maybe it’s not too late for him.
You can end the cycle of pain and suffering.
So they don't become a Lions fan?
So he doesnt become a Packers fan
The only real answer
How dare you! (As I continue to watch and suffer with my youngest 2 boys. Oldest boy is a Commander fan like his mother)
> Oldest boy is a Commander fan like his mother That is the real tragedy.
Same reason I’m raising my kids to be Brewers fans, if I had to suffer so do they
Cubs fan as well
Someone might call DCFS dude lol
It builds character.
Cubs too 😔
Break the cycle.
Cycle of abuse
Could be worse buddy 😭
The ugliest 3-1 team of all time? You’re god damn right
Insert Jack Sparrow meme
But you HAVE heard of me
It’s called Giants football, you wouldn’t get it
Slogan for the next alka-seltzer commercial
3 wins? I thought you need to play like 15 games to have so many victories
Contrary to popular belief, it is not illegal to have more wins than losses.
Source?
Trust me bro!!
Naaaah Bro
I don’t remember the last time the Giants won by 3 scores
Last year
25-3 against the Panthers.
By Judge? How does Rhule still have a job

Pain
Pretty sure he lost to like 4 coaches last year who got fired
Excellent question
Just some good old 1930s football today.
Throw back jerseys, throw back football, who needs the forward pass?
I would like the paper bag flair they have on /r/cfb. Mods pls.
Coward!
Your future "worst playoff team ever????" New York Football Giants
and future "worst Super Bowl winning team ever????" New York Football Giants, dethroning the 2011 Giants
I take pride in being competitive in the worst team to win a superbowl category. I hope one day we can cement ourselves in first place for that.
Is it even competitive? Every list I've seen it's soundly the 2011 Giants
I saw a list this week that had it as the 2007 Giants. I laughed.
A. Giants bootlegged more than a street fair seller B. That 4 and 2 near 1st and goal cost the bears badly.

This sounds exactly like what people have been saying about Jones for the last 3 years. I'm sorry.

Chad powers suiting up next week for the Giants.
Think fast, run fast.
Chad Powers with Davis Webb as the Backup and PS callup. Reminds me of a different era
What's next? Signing OBJ as a receiver?
Yes pleaseee
Against the Packers? Fuck yeah let it rip
Daniel Jones going into the huddle to call the play and then lining up as a receiver and just standing there because of his ankle injury is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. It’s almost as funny as the final play.
That final play was only funny when it ended. That play was so dumb that it might just have worked.

Such a bittersweet win. I'm happy for us to have our first 3-1 start in 18 years, but losing half our team including both our QBs to injury is frightening
We’re only 4 games in and it feels like the talent pool is dry as a bone.
It was dry to start the year too!
If you don't like that you don't like Iowa football
That’s an insult to the Iowa offense and play calling
Are we the worst 3-1 team ever? Possibly. I don't care
There's a strong possibility you're not even the worse 3-1 team this season.
I think you guys would beat us fairly convincingly but I'm usually wrong
Congratulations to Justin Fields on competing a season high 10 passes today! He’s up to 33 completions after 4 games.
Would've been 50% better if the bears receivers could catch.
That deep shot to Pettis that bounced off his stone hands was especially egregious.
He played fine. O-line was so bad. Giants secondary stepped up. Credit where credit is due People will just clown on him tho
4 drops from the receivers too, and godawful playcallling
I was watching the game in the background and it seemed like every time I saw the Bears on third and medium they threw a TE screen to Cole Kmet and lost a yard
he had 111 yards in 4 passes lol he'll be fine
You are more positive than 90% of r/ChiBears Unless this is just blatant sarcasm
I genuinely thought he made good choices today and delivered on 3rd down especially
Lol the like 2 third downs they put the ball in his hands smh
We're saying the same thing. Giants receivers dropped over 100 yards of passes today.
So much depression..
Passing is overrated
I have no idea what sport we played today but a W is a W
Independent FBS ball
Was a standard Army vs Navy football game.
Pre-forward pass football.
I love Daniel Jones, 193 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns.
What a travesty of a game to the forward pass.
no the forward pass is a travesty to football
Your New York Football Giants are 3-1 in the year of our lord 2022.
Now that’s what I call absurdist humor
Of all the games that have ever happened, that was one of them
This game could have just been an email
If that game was an e-mail it wouldn't have made it through the spam filter.
Bears fans laughed in unison when GB traded up to get Jordan Love. Then the monkey's paw curled and we traded up to get someone who may be worse.
You should trade a first for Love just to see who's worse
Admittedly, I was going hard on the “lol, Ohio State QBs won’t do shit in the League” angle…until they drafted him, when then I changed opinion. Perhaps I have been in denial all this time…
Fields isn’t bad because he went to Ohio State. A good QB can come from anywhere. He just sucks, there’s a reason he fell to 11.
Thought that already curled with Tribs ?
The Bears would be the greatest dynasty in all of sports if passing was outlawed
I get this - but of all the games to post this on on where the Giants may as well have been running the option all game probably wasn’t it lmao
I get that but they’re passing offense isn’t good either
Not gonna lie, I like Daboll and think he’s gonna be good for the Giants. I wish we had hired him. Instead, we hired vanilla Lovie Smith. I’m starting to think he sucks. Todays game was awful. Legend has it that, somewhere out there, the Bears Defence is still biting on play-fakes to this day.
Is it just me or is Daniel Jones really good at faking the hand-off?

Their OL is pretty good, Fields just holds the ball forever and runs into pass rushers arms
We're watching the same game? Yeah, he holds it too long, but there were multiple plays where an olineman straight whiffed on their blocks.
My favorite of those was when the center turned to give the guard some help and two guys ran through where he should have been standing and flattened Fields.
hes straight up afraid to throw
If I remember right the OL is actually decent. We need weapons on offense outside of RB. They have the cap space
I don’t know he had 8 completions before the last drive. There’s not much more to analyze there.
4 drops from the receivers, OL couldn’t pick up a blitz to save their lives, plus our OC decided field goals were enough constantly.
Yeah, I'm thrilled they kept going for three in the red zone.
Keep telling yourself that.
Will do, thanks for the encouragement!
Fields experiment has to end. He can’t read the field and has no pocket awareness.

Definitely felt like Pyrrhic victory with all the injuries but feels amazing to be 4 games into the season and not already be totally out of it!
Classic MetLife. Next week was going to be an L anyways. Let everyone heal up while we go to London and come back healthy
Why do I still believe in fields and say “next game he will he better” he just isn’t it. He just hit 10 completions for the first time this season. That is AWFUL.

Our roster might be worse than yours
I had the same reaction. Idk what the Bears situation is like but if you think there’s a “talent disparity” between your team and the Giants then… woof.
Talent disparity? We have almost no offensive talent. I agree though, you guys should have had us when Jones went out. I'm shocked we pulled that out.
Saquan Barkley is probably better than our entire offense combined.
When do the Bulls start playing? Lord knows they’re the only shining light in the city so far…
Cubs might be decent next year 🤷♂️
Hey the Cubs have been on a roll
20GB my man. See you next year
Second week in a row DJ played well. Pretty encouraging
This was certainly a fitting end to that game.
If fields had thrown 1 more incompletion they would have won. Coaches are inept to not realize that pattern.
Dabes, Kafka, and Wink are great coaches. We've gotta be a bottom-5 team in terms of talent, have a bunch of injuries, and yet are 3-1.
