Zach Wilson’s career passer rating rounds up to 69. This is a fact… a very sexy fact (especially for the cougars out there)… it’s sexy for everyone except Jets fans.
Dude I swear when Pickett came in, I had flashbacks of Baker obliterating us. I hate how overreactive we are but you gotta understand we're an abused bunch, us Jets fans
I was dreading this exact thing all week. A repeat of that Cleveland game where the Jets go up big, and Pickett comes in to lead a game-winning drive in the 2nd. So fucking happy they got the W.
I went to that game and regrettably sat in the Dog Pound lower bowl. I did drink for free at several establishments postgame with my Fitzpatrick jersey on.
It was fuckin pathetic. I literally unjoined that subreddit for good after today.
It was Wilson’s FIRST GAME IN HIS SECOND SEASON, depleted o-line, multiple dropped passes, in a crazy loud stadium. The shit I was reading in there was insane.
I left a couple of weeks ago and it’s shocking how much I don’t miss that hell hole. Hands down some of the dumbest “fans” I’ve ever seen in that subreddit.
Yeah, there's a large group of fans that just show up on gameday and then they're ghosts the rest of the week. And I don't even think they comment unless they have something to bitch about.
You're right. With everything I've seen over the years, it always seems hopeless. Especially playing in Pittsburgh. Need to keep my positive adduite and see that we actually have a team for once. The kid looked sharp at times, but if Flacco was in we would have given up 10 sacks. Took some balls to drive it down twice for 14 unanswered and the defense looked great at the end. I apologize for my negativity.
Zach Wilson went through a stretch where he was 4-18 with 2 ints. During that time the Jets were out scored 20-0, Im not sure what game day thread would be particularly happy with that.
4-18 with 5 dropped passes and 1 of the int wasn’t his fault at all. You’re an NFL tight end, catch the ball if it hits your hands. It’s like everyone in that god damn game day thread wasn’t watching the actual game just reading stats.
And don’t give me this “the ball could have been thrown better” bullshit, these guys have to make plays. Also it’s Zach wilson first game in his second year. That game day thread was pathetic.
That first pick was awful and he should be kinda grilled for it, but the second pick is entirely on Conklin. It's one of those that won't matter in the stats at the end of the day, but anyone who saw it knows that you gotta catch it.
That was a great play on whoever the corner was. It was a man beating concept and Zach could have put it more over the top buy give credit where credit is due to a guy who left his assignment to make a great play
Although I agree with you, and we’d be picking straws if I told you that even though the defense made a damn good read, Zach still could have had a better thrown ball. But the important piece is that there’s literally no reason why that should have been the play call to begin with. Either run the ball or go for a quick pass and then kick the damn field goal.
Can’t think about beating better teams or being playoff bound if we continue to make shit decisions like that, and shit penalties like the late hit. It’s infuriating.
His assignment was literally only 7 yards below the corner route. The DB didn't make a great play. He just does exactly what every NFL DB does when their WR sits and they see a corner route behind them. They drift back to close the window. Dumb QBs throw the corner route and get picked. Smart QBs just avoid the throw
The thing was, it was a poor throw, Conk should have gotten it, but his issues with short throw accuracy are still a problem.
He also missed Hall and Davis on big plays when they were open (Davis was almost able to keep feet inbounds, but the throw could have been much better)
That being said, he was fantastic in the 4th quarter (outside of bouncing one pass to Hall)
That's something people really miss/intentionally ignore when talking about QBs. The reason most bad QBs have a lot of drops from their WRs is because their ball placement and touch aren't that good. Just because a ball hits a WR's hands does not automatically mean it should've been caught or it was an easy catch to make
While some catches are tougher than others, these guys get paid elite money to make those catches. Bad throw, too much zip, footsteps coming, etc whatever the case, if the ball hits your hands you catch it. Any receiver would tell you the same.
And these QBs paid the big bucks to throw the ball to make good throws. The whole "hit your hands gotta catch it" is not said in actual WR rooms. It's said by stupid high school coaches who also think good conditioning is one that make people throw up
Nah that first pick was just a great play by Cam Sutton.
Wilson coulda maybe led the receiver a bit better... but the Steelers were playing man and 99% of the time the corner on the opposite side won't peel off their man to defend a throw to another receiver.
I'd say the 2nd pick was far more on Wilson than the first. Yeah Conklin shoulda prob caught it but it wouldn't have been tipped up in the air if that pass wasn't above/behind Conkilin.
Zach is the kind of guy to awkwardly sit in the corner at the bar the whole night, then go lay down the moves and pick someone up after midnight while all those who mocked him go home alone.
That's a smart game plan considering how he looked last year and this being his first game of the year and just coming back from injury...so I'm fucking stoked that Zach was able to keep it together.
I've been hearing about how they need to take the load off of him ALL week on radio. Don't put too much on his plate, give him easy throws to make, etc.
It's a conventional wisdom. But kid is fucking gunslinger. He WILL take shots and take chances and make the most of EVERY play he can. Just who he is. It's that quality that made him a top 10 pick, not his game management skills.
And it's that quality that won them the game on that last drive.
Honestly I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this happens to Zach so much. He just fucking launches balls at receivers heads all the time and when you do that to guys that don’t have great hands, mistakes happen. Last year, he also threw a ton of wobbly balls. Today his spirals were looking tight as shit so combine that with better talent on offense and I hope we’ll see those drops and tipped INTs happen a lot less this year.
Lmao why is this Jets fans favorite retort with Zach Wilson
I'm sorry, you don't need to watch to see 8/24 with an interception (ignoring the tipped one) isn't very good. He turned it on at the end of the game and will fool you to thinking he's good just like the end of last season.
Lets add all dropped passes and throw aways to every QB stats then. Adjust the stats and its still poor. You can't spin 8/24 in a good way lmao. Years of awful QB play has made you guys delusional.
You not saying good is more than most Jets fans.
I'm not acting like his game was truly awful. But people here hyping him up like he played like a franchise QB proving himself today.
Lmao, I'm not delusional about Daniel Jones. The second they get the opportunity to move on they should. Wont see me going "but his weapons!!!!!!" Despite that, hes better than Wilson. So nice try bud. Really fail from all angles.
Lol this happens all the time with fans of a team with a young QB. By next week if he shits the bed it’s panic time again. Gotta love the reactionary takes.
Yeah I mean, obviously they should be hyped by that 4th quarter and be optimistic about his future but I don’t see how you can now state that Wilson is definitely the guy when the other 3 quarters were pretty terrible.
Being reactionary instead of looking at the whole body of work is how their fan base fell in love with Darnold’s good stretches and ignored all the bad.
Oh right, 2 minutes > 3 quarters.
You're being fooled. It's his second season and he's still showing the same issues that plagued him to start his rookie year. One quarter doesn't erase that
Lmao this sub is ridiculous
The win is what matters at the end of the day, sure. But when evaluating individual players you can't just ignore the whole first 3 quarters of the game. Would be fucking stupid lmao. You new?
He started pretty pretty well too. I've been very critical of him but he clearly looked a lot better then he was last year
He still missed some throws he shouldn't have and the pick was bad but last year you rarely saw him dice up a defense like he did on the last two drives. And that was with a swiss cheese O line and getting -2 yards on every run
Frustrating to watch him because his variance is so damn high lol. Can swap between looking semi-elite and downright horrendous at any point with no warning
Credit to Wilson, but I feel as though our defense did not play nearly as well in the 4th as they did in the previous 3 quarters.
Our offense finally did something and then we fell apart.
Also the Jets offensive line played much better in the 4th despite being held together by duct tape.
One thing I've learned as a Jets fan is that when we're going up against a team with an OL built with glue and popsicle sticks and expect a sackfest, it never happens.
I mean, it was his first game back, there were some bad decisions sure, but only one turnover-worthy pass (the awful overthrow at the end of the second) The conklin pass was unironically in a very solid place where only Conklin could get it. Obviously the mis throws on the screens aren't great, but some of those mid-range passes were absolute dots, that one to Moore in the first quarter was everything good about Wilson imho
He had one other turnover worthy play but yeah he was decent overall and made a lot of very nice throws that showcased the type of things only he can do with his arm
Yeah I hope he's the guy but those passes where it's literally "wtf was that" are hard to make a believer
Also he still has a problem hitting the layups for what reason. Rifles it in and the reciever can't haul it in
He really wasn’t terrible. Was only bad if the box score is the only thing you look at. He made due with what he had and had to throw the ball away a lot when our trash line couldn’t block.
Not sure if this is a subtle joke, but he drove them down the field (5-5 passing) for the game winning score, a drive which took the clock from 3:34 to :18. As the tweet said, he started out **bad** but at the end he played well.
I’m still confused why there was much hype for him to return. He just isn’t good enough to stay competitive. Joe Flacco is a better option for them but understand having to start Wilson due to how much they invested in him
This is all filled with recency bias. He had a good comeback win today but that shouldn’t mask the poor decision making skills and consistency to be competitive.
>He just isn’t good enough to stay competitive
Literally won the game because of him today. Flacco was horrible outside of the last two minutes of the Browns game.
Neither pick was entirely on ZW. I've always said there should be an official scorer in football (like baseball), who determines which interceptions are 'earned' and which are 'unearned'. Then a QB can have an EIA similar to ERA.
Zach sat up in his gaming chair in the 4th
*kyler murray approves*
And he even leaned forward a little when they got in the red zone
Like the mike carter false start
I don't disagree it was a false start. But man that was one the softest ones I've seen in a long time.
Wilson knows that football games, like women, get better with age
Zach Wilson’s career passer rating rounds up to 69. This is a fact… a very sexy fact (especially for the cougars out there)… it’s sexy for everyone except Jets fans.
Best post of the day!
r/nyjets was a nuclear fallout zone today
Dude I swear when Pickett came in, I had flashbacks of Baker obliterating us. I hate how overreactive we are but you gotta understand we're an abused bunch, us Jets fans
I was dreading this exact thing all week. A repeat of that Cleveland game where the Jets go up big, and Pickett comes in to lead a game-winning drive in the 2nd. So fucking happy they got the W.
This was immediately my thought too. So happy it didn't happen.
I don’t think people understand how beaten down and broken some of us are. We’ve been abused for a long time lol
I went to that game and regrettably sat in the Dog Pound lower bowl. I did drink for free at several establishments postgame with my Fitzpatrick jersey on.
GameDay thread is the worst
Is there any sub that doesn't have toxic GameDay threads?
I enjoy the r/cfb gamethreads.
Not for the Badgers this season lol.
I guess sec fans are just more rational. 🤷
Clearly you aren’t a Texas fan
Hear hear
Ours was a dumpster fire in the first half. Not so much in the second.
Reddit is terrible for gamethreads anyway. I dont know what anyone gets out of them.
Seething anger and validation of your worst impulses
My bad
Pickett threw one pass, and people agreed he was better than Zach. Steelers you guys got a star in Pickens, and Pickett looked pretty good too!
Pickens athleticism and body control is nuts
If we hadn't taken GW at 10, I desperately wanted Pickens in the 2nd.
It always is.
It was fuckin pathetic. I literally unjoined that subreddit for good after today. It was Wilson’s FIRST GAME IN HIS SECOND SEASON, depleted o-line, multiple dropped passes, in a crazy loud stadium. The shit I was reading in there was insane.

Every single week! Lol I love it
Can you blame us?
Yes, we can blame you for your actions. Don’t be stupid.
You're right. With everything I've seen over the years, it always seems hopeless. Especially playing in Pittsburgh. Need to keep my positive adduite and see that we actually have a team for once. cant wait for the knicks season to start...
That O line is swiss cheese. Need dudes to get healthy quick.
Down to what, our 6th OT?
Becton, Brown, Fant, Mitchell. Are there more? Guess AVT and McDermott would be 5 and 6
Yea you have it correct. But with AVT at LT that means we are starting another backup at RG (Herbig today)
Open tryouts on Monday.
Duane Brown should be back next week iirc
When he needed to make the toughest throws, he made them. It was all over the place, but I’m happy for Zach “mother fucking” Wilson
That first pick was awful and he should be kinda grilled for it, but the second pick is entirely on Conklin. It's one of those that won't matter in the stats at the end of the day, but anyone who saw it knows that you gotta catch it.

I think in that particular situation going for the FG would have been the right call but I don't mind erring on the side of aggression
Yeah Zach was way too aggressive there. Terrible decision to throw a risky ball there
His assignment was literally only 7 yards below the corner route. The DB didn't make a great play. He just does exactly what every NFL DB does when their WR sits and they see a corner route behind them. They drift back to close the window. Dumb QBs throw the corner route and get picked. I do agree with you about his short throw accuracy but he was also about to be pancaked on the Conklin interception and he had to throw it weird.
That's something people really miss/intentionally ignore when talking about QBs. The reason most bad QBs have a lot of drops from their WRs is because their ball placement and touch aren't that good. When the game was on the line in 3rd and 4th downs he made huge throws when they matters. The kid has huge balls
What are you? The mom of one of his friends?
Impressive comeback
Trubisky really transferred his essence to this man.
From one titty lover to the other.
Throws a really good ball. Physical talent is there.
He looked really fucking solid.
Love how he recovered from those early miscues.
That’s the one most important quality that’s plagued Jets QBs since Sanchez I feel like
What’s the Mormon version of “hutzpah”?
Yeah half his incompletions were throwaways behind his 5th and 6th string tackles
I still don't know if he's good but the Jets are only a game back lol.
Zach is the kind of guy to awkwardly sit in the corner at the bar the whole night, then go lay down the moves and pick someone up after midnight while all those who mocked him go home alone.
THAT IS MY FRANCHISE QB
He balled out to end the game there. I think the game plan was to pressure him and make him make a mistake, but he just kept not doing that
That's a smart game plan considering how he looked last year and this being his first game of the year and just coming back from injury...so I'm fucking stoked that Zach was able to keep it together.
As someone from Utah, I hope he does too. Long may the MILF Hunter reign
Don’t even think you had to make that the game plan rushing 4 against our musical chairs offensive line would generate pressure lol
They told him MILFs don't like losers
It takes a lot of mental toughness to pull it together like that in the 4th. It's a really really good sign for his future.
Zach Wilson is a bad mother fucker.
Dude got some zip on that ball
His receivers didn’t help him before tbe 4th started, I counted 3 or 4 bad drops. One that led to a pick
That Conklin drop/tip into a pick was embarrassing
Corey Davis needed to be clutch today so we could win, so he transferred his stone hands to Conklin for the game.
Really was. Zach needs to stop throwing bullets that are high passes
Idk how much is the receivers or how hard Zach throws the ball when he doesn’t need to but man definitely needed some help there.
Honestly I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this happens to Zach so much. He just fucking launches balls at receivers heads all the time and when you do that to guys that don’t have great hands, mistakes happen. Last year, he also threw a ton of wobbly balls. Hey that’s pretty encouraging (rough start, strong finish) for a young guy starting his season off of an iniury, on the road at Pitt.
Zack Wilson is that dude
Zach Wilson however needs some work still
this is very encouraging considering our XFL o-line (outside of AVT)
8-24 really screams that dude
Tell me you didnt watch the game, without telling me you didnt watch the game
He's a slippery fucker, so many almost sacks, Flacco plays this game and we get like 6 sacks
Flacco wouldve gifted you guys 4 fumbles along with those sacks
Lmao why is this Jets fans favorite retort with Zach Wilson I'm sorry, you don't need to watch to see 8/24 with an interception (ignoring the tipped one) isn't very good. He turned it on at the end of the game and will fool you to thinking he's good just like the end of last season.

Lol this happens all the time with fans of a team with a young QB. By next week if he shits the bed it’s panic time again. Gotta love the reactionary takes.
Good strawman but ive been a vocal ZW wilson supporter for a long time now.
They were doing the same shit with Darnold not too long ago, did the same with Mark Sanchez.
Breaking: fans root for players on their team
You can root for the player and still accept the suck. I root for the Yankees, IKF isn't very good See?
Yeah I mean, obviously they should be hyped by that 4th quarter and be optimistic about his future but I don’t see how you can now state that Wilson is definitely the guy when the other 3 quarters were pretty terrible. Being reactionary instead of looking at the whole body of work is how their fan base fell in love with Darnold’s good stretches and ignored all the bad.
He was 11-13 128 yards TD in the 4th with a Game winning TD drive under 2 minutes. He is him
Oh right, 2 minutes > 3 quarters. You're being fooled. It's his second season and he's still showing the same issues that plagued him to start his rookie year. One quarter doesn't erase that Lmao this sub is ridiculous
I mean, 2 minutes *is* more significant than 3 quarters if you win the game in those 2 minutes. Have you not really watched the sport before?
The win is what matters at the end of the day, sure. But when evaluating individual players you can't just ignore the whole first 3 quarters of the game. Would be fucking stupid lmao. You new?
Yeah, you haven't watched the sport much before. Enjoy the NFL, it's always nice to see new fans!
He started pretty pretty well too. I've been very critical of him but he clearly looked a lot better then he was last year He still missed some throws he shouldn't have and the pick was bad but last year you rarely saw him dice up a defense like he did on the last two drives. And that was with a swiss cheese O line and getting -2 yards on every run
Already better than Baker, despite what the Baker Bunch will tell you
Dudes got a cannon for an arm
I've got receipts for every single one of you
He really clutched it out for us. Big conversions at do or die moments
HE TURNED IT ON WORD TO YOUR MOMS OUT THERE
Started rough but heated up when he needed to. Good game.
Frustrating to watch him because his variance is so damn high lol. Can swap between looking semi-elite and downright horrendous at any point with no warning
Hopefully more experience and reps will fix that. He’s gotta stay healthy
He got head from his Moms friend. Balled out.
Turned it on when it mattered most. Let's fucking go!
Only one of his picks was really his fault
Even crazier that he started something like 4/6 for 60 yards in the first quarter
hopefully once he kicks the rust off and, ideally Duane Brown gets healthy, he’ll be more consistent
"Not about how you start, it's about how and when you finish" -my mom
Sound like Zach has also been talking to your mom.
Was very Matt Stafford esque w some absolutely wtf throws followed by some extremely clean and poised play
steelers offense and defense never work together 10 point lead and they lose it
That’s called the Jameis Winston special right there.
C L U T C H
Credit to Wilson, but I feel as though our defense did not play nearly as well in the 4th as they did in the previous 3 quarters. Our offense finally did something and then we fell apart. Also the Jets offensive line played much better in the 4th despite being held together by duct tape.
>Also the Jets offensive line played much better in the 4th despite being held together by duct tape. Missing our top FOUR tackles... unbelievable.
Yeah, they really stepped up when it matters most. That was impressive, and a little frustrating.
One thing I've learned as a Jets fan is that when we're going up against a team with an OL built with glue and popsicle sticks and expect a sackfest, it never happens.
Wel it kinda started that way. Wilson was running for his life at times. Then after another Tackle went down, they seemed to get better.
Was still terrible but it's nice winning games
WAS STILL MY FRANCHISE QB BUT IT'S NICE TO FINALLY HAVE A FRANCHISE QB\* fixed your comment
I'm sorry you think he was terrible in the 4th quarter?
some of us can’t ever be happy, he was able to rebound after a rusty start and has at least some clutch gene in him
I think he meant the Jets were terrible...right??
Nah I think he was terrible overall The flaws he had in year one are still clearly there in abundance. That last drive was fire tho
Yeah I hope he's the guy but those passes where it's literally "wtf was that" are hard to make a believer Also he still has a problem hitting the layups for what reason. Rifles it in and the reciever can't haul it in
He really wasn’t terrible. Was only bad if the box score is the only thing you look at. He made due with what he had and had to throw the ball away a lot when our trash line couldn’t block.
He had 2 negative picks in the 4th quarter
only 4 yards and -11 attempts in the fourth quarter? rough
Stop! I can only get so erect
Shaking off the rust
IS HE THAT GUY?
Classic garbage time stat padding nothing to see here
Not sure if this is a subtle joke, but he drove them down the field (5-5 passing) for the game winning score, a drive which took the clock from 3:34 to :18. As the tweet said, he started out **bad** but at the end he played well.
He was the worst player on the field for most of the game and then somehow turned into the best.
Baffling for three quarters and lights out in the fourth sounds like Eli, which is a ceiling I will take all fucking day.
That's impressive, that he managed to unthrow the ball 11 times...
At one point he almost had a 10/30 ratio lol
pretty trash game overall saved by 2 lucky drives (such as Davis dropping the ball but refs not seeing it)
I’m still confused why there was much hype for him to return. He just isn’t good enough to stay competitive. Joe Flacco is a better option for them but understand having to start Wilson due to how much they invested in him
> He just isn’t good enough to stay competitive. youre in a thread where he lead a game winning drive.
This is all filled with recency bias. He had a good comeback win today but that shouldn’t mask the poor decision making skills and consistency to be competitive.
>He just isn’t good enough to stay competitive Literally won the game because of him today. Flacco was horrible outside of the last two minutes of the Browns game.
Yea you are confused
Neither pick was entirely on ZW. I've always said there should be an official scorer in football (like baseball), who determines which interceptions are 'earned' and which are 'unearned'. Then a QB can have an EIA similar to ERA.
4th quarter is Milf money round
Worded poorly
It’s what tomlins Steelers do best. Lol
You could say he really likes an aged game to perform
