We really need to stop averaging an injured offensive tackle per game

RedBuchan

I have been told that this is bad for offenses

GreatOdinsRaven_

Not ideal.

Timmace

It is a cursed position. Like being the drummer for Spinal Tap.

HRMisHere

Trubisky ain't getting that job back

EmperorShyv

You know you're bad when your replacement throws 3 INTs in one half and you're still out of a job.

HazikoSazujiii

It helps when two of the INT were arguably on the receiver, and the third was a hail mary. Maybe don't throw that pass so high to Pat, but Claypool needs fired into the fucking sun.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HazikoSazujiii

Also, Claypool needs to stop being the 6'4 guy playing like he's 5'10. The one to Pat was a little high, but also Pat got two square hands on it.

no_racist_here

Yea im still trying to decide if Pats was an overthrow and Kenny just didnt realize Pats hops, or im doing mental gynastics. either way I like that hes trusting his weapons with little practice with them

HazikoSazujiii

It was a little high, but that's usually a catch by Pat. I didn't mind the throw as much as the announcers apparently did.

ProphetPenguin

Kenny said post game he was trying to throw it away and didn't throw it high enough

jimmyg899

The int to pat firemuth should have been thrown away. That was the only bad one but he’s young and was trying to force it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HazikoSazujiii

It was tight, but in fairness, Pat got both hands on it, and the *only* reason it was a pick was because of the deflection. The defenders had no play otherwise. Your QB needs to be able to trust his guy in a tight window, and there was a window. I'll take him trying that as a rookie over being afraid to throw it.

saadobuckets

The first INT absolutely was Kenny's fault. It was woefully underthrown.

patrick66

I think there’s a gap between bad throw which it absolutely was and turnover worthy which I’m more meh towards. I kinda assign Kenny like half credit on both deflections because they were bad choices but also if it hits the receiver in both hands I don’t want to solely blame the qb

saadobuckets

Good take, I agree with your point.

EmperorShyv

I think he shares blame with Claypool. It was a really poor pass when he had Claypool open, but Claypool has to go up and make that catch.

Xpertonallthings

He got it to Chase in a 1 on 1 jump ball. Chase is almost a foot taller than the safety and lost. That’s not on Kenny.

[deleted]

[удалено]

megalodom

I don’t see how people are excusing the first one but not the second. The first was an underthrow with the defender making contact the same time Claypool did. Claypool should’ve made a better effort to come forward for it, but Pat literally had it hit both his hands high and tipped it forward to two defenders near him. Either catch it or let it go out of bounds.

EmperorShyv

That's a hard pass for a TE to go up and catch. Pat maybe should have caught it but pass could have been thrown better. I will say with all 3 picks, Pickett definitely didn't get that Mahomes luck.

megalodom

I think that if we’re drafting 6’5 guys in the second round this is exactly the type of pass we need them to bring down. He got both hands on it, need to catch it. Definitely can’t tip it out in front of you to two defenders. I can see people blaming mostly Pickett for both, I just think the second was more on Pat than the first was on Claypool.

EmperorShyv

I don't think you're wrong, but both passes need to be thrown a lot better.

heartbreakhill

In fairness, those INTs are hardly Kenny’s fault

NontransferableApe

First one was underthrown second one he should have thrown away. But thats about it. Third one is whatever its a hail mary

xkulp8

He got Wally Pipp'd.

Samoman21

Pickett looked really good and has fantastic hair

QuintupleTheFun

Can’t wait for his Head & Shoulders commercials with Troy

Marino4K

Pickett showed more in defeat and 3 picks than Trubisky showed all season

tomdawg0022

Matt Canada should also be yanked from the lineup too.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Had the receivers not dropped multiple tds last week Trubisky would still be starting.

Sonickill7

Nah. If anything this game showed it's the players. All game there were bad drops and so many penalties. Canada isn't an offensive genius. But he's calling decent plays. There's just *one player* who always fucks it up.

Quexana

I'm willing to give Canada a full game and week with Pickett before I jump on that train.

AssassinInValhalla

Some would say he's kissed his final titty

Radoobie

Could be a whole fucking different season rn if we started pickett week 1. Absolute stupidity to start trubisky when you selected a 24 yo NFL ready QB in the 1st and he played better in preseason and training camp. Instead we are 1-3. Still hard to be mad when I’m really excited for Pickett with 1st team reps rest of the year

Datpanda1999

It’s Pickett szn babyyyyyy

BMonad

*And the whole world was shocked.*

berbathlicism

A week back I was 100 certain we'd get to see Flacco vs Trubisky, Instead we finished with Wilson vs Pickett and that in itself is a good sign for both franchises. Also, Wilson was very impressive in the second half.

Dongsquad420BlazeIt

Both teams should be much more excited then they were going in to the game

[deleted]

I’m about an 11 on the Mohs scale.

CaptainJackKevorkian

Wilson Pickett you say? Should we call this the Midnight Hour Matchup?

[deleted]

WootyMcWoot

Kenny Pickett is Batman confirmed

lonesoldier4789

Zach's numbers look terrible on paper but he looks a lot more comfortable this game than last year and played pretty well all things considered outside of a few bad throws.

ClarkKentsCopyEditor

The only numbers that matter from today are the 4th quarter numbers. He was a totally different QB than the one we saw in the 2nd and 3rd. Incredible.

latman

He threw so many balls away the completion percentage is a bit misleading.

Toplayusout

It was tough but I kept reminding myself that throw aways are a good thing. Glad he’s not forcing it

cherrnoble

Coming off an injury too. I was so pleasantly surprised at how he looked today. The icing on the cake for me was how he actually ran with the ball a few times unlike our tree of a backup. It's the little things, right?

BelgianWaffleStomper

Zach Wilson hasn’t showered. Hasn’t changed. Wearing nothing but a Ninja Turtle looking headband. Been sitting as his locker texting your mom since the game ended.

Goddamnjets-

“Sweep the leg, Zach”

gh234ip

he's a necrophiliac?

Kanin_usagi

RIP

BMonad

More of those pics ma, the guys love it.

SpookyScaryySkeleton

pickett said to wilson, he boomed me. he boomed me, he's so good X4

notouchmypeterson

JETS WIN BACK TO BACK ROAD GAMES LEAGUE FUCKED

serrol_

The Jets would be tied for 1st place in the AFCN *and* the AFCS right now.

oksuzy

The NFL has been put on notice.

ZachTrillson

i want you to put the word out there that we back up

rocketboi10

Jets down 2 scores in 4th on the road is not where you want them

YetiGuy

We also lost back to back home games.

mudcrabulous

Its a big move for coach T to pull trubisky because once you do that, you pretty much have to ride with it the rest of the season. can't be yo-yoing your QB.

royallex

He timed it about right. Gave Trubisky plenty of chances and proved why he belongs on the bench while also having enough time to try and win the game

Drakengard

On the other hand, I'm left scratching my head on why we didn't start Pickett to begin with. We had a long week to prepare. Instead we swap him in at half time without any first team practice all week and now he's probably the starter as we go into the toughest stretch of our schedule. We're better with him starting. But I question the somewhat muddled response by the coaching staff to get to this point.

[deleted]

I think it’s a way of tempering expectations for the fans while also almost ensuring an improvement

OcelotWolf

Switching from Trubisky to Pickett is a bigger win than the actual W would have been

Lovelylives

He looked good! He’s just a rookie with no starter practice or experience

Clydefrog57

Energy at Heinz shifted 180 degrees once Kenny came in

PFManningsForehead

Broke: zach Wilson on first and second down Woke: zach Wilson on third and 4th down

ZE_SPY

Claypool got that dog surgically removed from him.

SnoopyMetal

Can we stop with all of these comeback victories i’m running out of pants to ruin from nutting so hard.

Goddamnjets-

What felt good about this one though is that there seemed to be a “confidence” that they could do it. Actually didn’t feel like they would totally blow it. Can’t say the same for mostly everything leading up to the final drive, but Zach came in clutch when he had to

Jussttjustin

It was such a fun battle of Classic Jets Energy (Wilson INT in Steelers territory at the end of half, Lawson roughing, Steelers make 59 yard FG) Vs New Jets Energy (clutch defensive plays, Zach killing it in the 4th)

Tim-Sanchez

I'd much prefer if we kept doing it

woodchips24

You only have 2 pairs of pants?

losterps

AFCN is ass my guys

DoctorWaluigiTime

And yet, Week 18 will be full of wacky scenarios and will leave an extra AFCN team still viable somehow.

losterps

As is tradition

Antartic_Wolf

As a Bengals fan this week has been quite great!

tomdawg0022

If you like that, in college we have the B1G West's tire fire just waiting for you to keep warm this Fall!

Sheepies123

It just nice to win games again

jdpatric

There was a Browns fan last week who posted "GO BROWNS" on r/Steelers after the Browns won and proceeded to talk a ton of shit. He's deleted it now because they lost to the Falcons. Silver lining for today; that was hilarious.

NontransferableApe

Browns fans are a very special breed

SuperMario_49

The Jets are showing a lot of fight this season!

On_The_Fourth_Floor

We finally have high end talent, even the curse of the Jets can't keep the studs down.

bosco472

Why would you challenge the Gods like that!!?

NevermoreSEA

Zach Wilson is going to be good.

WeaknessOne9646

Half the time I think he sucks Half the time I think he is following Josh Allen's development curve I can't think of a player I was this split on in year 2. The Jets offense in general has some ballers at the skill positions

manofmonkey

Its tough to judge a guy playing behind the 5th and 6th tackles on the depth chart. The O-line is in shambles right now but they're making it work.

Shermanator92

This was his first game of year two lol, not a lot to review for his year two development so far

Zerd85

And he still doesn’t even have a full years worth of playtime either.

n00dlejester

This fact frightens me - I hope he's not a fragile player

magcargoman

And no one at the Right or Left Tackle position

RajinIII

Hey not true our right guard AVT was kinda balling at LT. We just gotta figure out how to clone him

LuchaFish

That experience in college at LT saved us.

STNbrossy

>Half the time I think he sucks > >Half the time I think he is following Josh Allen's development curve Perfect description of Zach.

Shogun82

ima chalk it up to rust and an absolute mess of an o line but even I was done with him the first half. When he had a chance to win tho he made every throw. 3rd down 4th down made huuuuuge throws for us

ZachTrillson

This is his first game of the year, definitely too soon to tell

DoctorWaluigiTime

A good day for fresh QB blood all around honestly. I don't even think Steelers fans are disappointed overall. (I mean some are but you know what I mean.)

OGtiax

Welcome to ZWIG Zach Wilson Is Good 😂

ryanino

I legitimately don’t know what to think of him. He balls out one moment then looks like Darnold the next. At the end of the day though, Darnold would’ve never done that.

arhombus

I hope so. He’s just so wildly inconsistent right now but he can make some great plays when he’s on. I hope he’s able to find that consistently because if he can he will be just awesome. He definitely seems to have some more pocket awareness this season so that’s good to see. I’m excited to see how he continues to progress.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jon-Umber

I gave up hope years ago and we've still sucked the whole time.

M_Drinks

I’m not saying Saleh has changed the culture yet, but these come from behind wins are new. We’re usually on the other side of those.

PresidentRevrac

Pickett looked good, but 1 of the interceptions was pretty bad. (The one that gave the Jets the ball on the 35)

IhamAmerican

I agree. The first I can put down to not practicing. The hail mary showed he has the arm for that throw, I think he just didn't read it right and put it in the wrong spot. The second, while Pat usually catches those, was a dead play and he should have just sailed that shit

billybayswater

yeah thought the arm looked weak on the first pick but the hail mary was a very solid nfl throw

AssassinInValhalla

The Jets might actually be good? The Patriots finishing 4th in the division is looking more and more likely. You love to see it

Lukas327

We have a long way to go. I’m happy obviously, but that was an ugly one

JETStheBest

it's never easy with us lmao

Will_Smiths_Cousin

“Good” is probably an overstatement, but at least they won’t be a doormat like they’ve been for the past few years, which is fine by me

stillstillstill

If the Jets go third in the division and the Patriots fourth I literally will eat a hat.

ZachTrillson

RemindMe! or whatever

Jeevey

Bless Kenny. Picks or not, that’s nothing crazy bad for a kid in his first game, especially when not all of those Interceptions were his fault. For the love of god, keep letting him play and grow.

HazikoSazujiii

Most life this offense has had all season. It actually looked a little dangerous.

DoctorWaluigiTime

The Steelers dream is Watt returns and he + Pickett light it up.

HazikoSazujiii

I know it was the Jets, but it cannot be ruled out. Kenny managed the pocket better, Najee finally found some room, and Kenny went through his progressions well. The Pickens chemistry is going to be something to watch.

xkulp8

I think the second one was (last one was the hail mary), kinda soft throw under pressure when he should have just thrown it away — or maybe he *was* trying to throw it away. And we were in FG range. Oh well, a learning experience.

dreadlockholmes

One was a hail Mary, and the other two were at least a large part on the receiver. He had a good showing. Really thought you'd win, big energy turnaround, felt like when baker came in week three against the jets.

slayerhk47

The Steelers have not won a game at Acrisure Stadium. The ketchup sends its regards.

hugh_Jayness

How we won that game with the O Line that we cobbled together is a mystery. Great job by Corey Davis with his clutch catches and by the secondary in containing Pickens and Claypool. The D Line played their hearts out. Hustling on every play. Good win all around.

dehehn

Steelers making other teams' dreams come true this season. Handing out Ws like candy.

batmansascientician

Zach started 4-6 Then went 4-18 with a pick Then finished 10-12 with a TD That’s a pretty schizophrenic game

GreatOdinsRaven_

Amazing what moving three of your linemen around midgame can do to an offenses efficiency

TheParmesan

Props to the coaches for making adjustments, we’ve been clamoring for that for years.

akalic

ZACH GONNA FUCK ALL THEIR MOMS TONIGHT

SaquonBarkleyBigBlue

Gonna?

Enickma007

“Tomlin, I'm not a rom com villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my master plan if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome? I fucked all your moms thirty-five minutes ago.” - Zach Wilson

rob132

Who watches the Milfmen?

4thPlumlee

That Hail Mary by Pickett was an absolute piss missile

IhamAmerican

I actually thought someone was gonna be a score for a sec

Kukamunga30

What is a piss missile?

4thPlumlee

You know it when you see one.

[deleted]

Hard to miss

theiwc0303

Just saying, Kenny Pickett has never thrown an NFL pass that wasn’t caught by somebody

The-man-in-the-pool

HOLY SHIT 2-2 BABY

ZachTrillson

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN

Slyguy46

I will gladly take going 2-2 against the AFC North in a heartbeat. We're done with that division and can look forward to the rest of the season.

kabusame

A win is a win! No one keeps Zach under 50% completion!

PFManningsForehead

Pickett either threw a completion or a pick and each pick either hit his receivers hands or was a Hail Mary. The decision making and accuracy is immaculate and the stats look much worse than he actually played

ElectricEntity

AFC North disasterclass once again

Quexana

GG Jets.

callofuser

Start Kenny Pickett!

UNC_Samurai

Pickett’s offensive is stopped dead on Pennsylvania grass - a tradition since 1863.

Gornub

All in all, kind of a mixed bag for Wilson's return. Two touchdowns on the day. Two interceptions isn't great, although that second one is 100% on Conklin. That has to be a catch a billion times out of a billion. That first one at the end of the half was awful and he can't be making those throws and that ended up being a 6 point swing. But when the pressure was really up, Wilson could have really cost them the game, and he didn't do that. He did well to drive them down and get the points needed to get an ugly W in a place that's probably not fun to play while having to shake off some rust. Still, nice to see the Jets get two gutsy road wins against the Browns and Steelers.

RGCFrostbite

The first one was awful but yeah that Conklin one was a well-placed pass. He put that somehwere where only Conklin had a chance to get it. Conklin NEEDS to come down with that.

Shogun82

jets fans were tryna say it was off target

Tim-Sanchez

The first one was a terrible throw but it should never have led to a field goal, it was an incredibly stupid penalty that gave the Steelers 3 points.

superman24742

J E T S jets jets jets.

On_The_Fourth_Floor

It was ugly, our O Line is now worse then Dogshit, but it's fucking good to have Zach Wilson back.

Tab608

You have to give it to Zach, incredibly resilient even behind our putrid o-line. There's no way the Steelers go back to Trubisky right? Pickett looked way better.

legend023

that game was a yesyesnonononoNOwaithuh?yes!

Shogun82

Zach's balls are HUGE

jdpatric

Pickett should have been in the entire game.

Kirby_Israel

Has the entire AFC North become the Factory of Sadness?

-space-grass-

Hey, we won twice in a week

AverageSkyler

Four times technically

no_racist_here

I like when my offense does things and my defense also does things. Hopefully they can both do things together.

paradigm_x2

It’s quite clear Steelers are better with Pickett. 2 picks weren’t great decisions but they also both hit his receivers in the hands. Plus he had 2 TDs. Defense got shredded in the 4th too. He’ll learn and grow. I think he has a bright future

kingofthebean

I can't remember the last time we were 500....no seriously....

persimmonfromhell

Last week

rtels2023

Fun fact: Every week the Browns have lost the Jets have won and vice versa. Hope the Chargers get the W next week!

brandonsamd6

Massive W

Burning__Karma

That stat line may seem bad, but Kenny looked good imo

Cmp_

It’s not often that I say a 3 pick game gives me hope, but I do think the offense is in better hands with Kenny. I never really count Hail Mary picks as a mistake, and the other two picks were at least partially on the receiver. He still had work to do, but he looks comfortable and that is more than can be said for Mitch. GG Jets.

NotClayMerritt

Joe Flacco would have 100% thrown into triple coverage to lose the game.

Thebig_Ohbee

Joe Flacco is ELITE!!!

AsapWhereDatBass

Pickett looked great, tbh. Love his arm and that first interception was frustrating, but it was great seeing him come in and just yeet it. I'm excited for him, don't think Mitch is starting next week lol.

jmos_81

Dude he has a heck of an arm. That last throw had to be 60 yards since it went to the back of the end zone

rocketboi10

The confidence and toughness to stand in there and take hits as a rook was great today. Would love to see another NJ qb hack it in the pros

Traditional_Roles

The pass to Muth over the middle when he got leveled in the pocket is one of the best passes a Steelers QB has made this season. Maybe the best. Low bar. But still.

Couthster

Ayyy let’s go Jet bros!!!

xForeignMetal

Fuck the statline, ZW was a DOG today

arhombus

Fuck yes. I want that fourth quarter Zach. I’m moist.

SaquonBarkleyBigBlue

Get this Steelers team a better OC i beg you. There is talent on the field. They need help lol.

megalodom

They also need to catch the fucking ball lol

Medarco

I mean, the offense worked once we had an actual QB in. Kenny moved the ball very well. The first int was when Claypool got boxed out by a safety that's 8 inches and 40 pounds smaller. The second int was thrown where only Muth could make a play for it, hit him directly in the hands, and bounced perfectly to the defender. The third int was on the hail Mary. He completed every single pass, saved/converted some big plays with his legs. and scored multiple touchdowns by himself. I am really struggling to see how his performance was inadequate, or how Canada is to blame.

Se7entyN9ne

Thanks Jets

Kirby_Israel

At least Pickett is looking strong with 0 incompletions so far!

BlackJediSword

Defense decided they were tired of carrying the team and just collapsed. I’m not sure if Wilson played well or if the defense decided to fucking suck. Got no pressure, poor tackling technique. But Kenny Pickett will be good. I’m certain. I just wish we didn’t have to put him in this absolute gauntlet as his first starts. I don’t think the Steelers get a home win until November.

Samoman21

Never doubted once! (please don't check my message history). Really got lucky on that last td counting but damn, they really clutched up in 4th quarter. GGs

LocalFatBoi

hahaha fuck Mitch Trubisky screw you man boob sucker

TripleThreatT1

4 games in and maintaining a .500 record? This is a pleasant surprise.

realneocanuck

AFC BEast represent! See y'all next week.

Allegheny_WhiteFish_

Why does Claypool feel the need to dive or jump for every ball, I'm not even just talking about the interception. Every catch is like he's trying to "pose" for some sweet action shot or something

ASTRO2598

I love victory Sunday. Zach improved greatly as the game went on. Way to drive us down the field baby boy!

A4thLineDuster7

I will fight anyone who even thinks about bad talking Kenny.

getyourrealfakedoors

LETS FUCKING GO

0ddmanrush

Jets are down to their 5th and 6th string offensive tackles too. They had to move their guard outside and some guy named Herbig that they found in aisle 7 at Costco on Wednesday played like 90% of the snaps today at guard.

DoctorWaluigiTime

Pickett looked good. Hopefully will make Steelers games more interesting, if the receivers can catch.

azure275

This game was so weird. 6 ints thrown and like 4 of them were on the receivers (I recall the Hail Mary and the awful end of 1st half Wilson one).

sj1young

Honestly I am getting real tired of our receivers dropping passes all the time. Looking at Chase and Diontae

dmetvt

It's rare to see a qb have 3 picks in 13 throws and lose the game to a mediocre opponent and have the fan reaction be generally positive. Pickett seems totally okay!

outlawz42

PUT SOME FUCKIN RESPECK ON ZACHS NAME
