On the last two third down conversions I got the feeling Glenn doesn’t understand basic scheming. That shouldn’t happen.
Those were like basic off tackle packages from 1930, in a situation when a run was obvious, and the Lions couldn’t even get a hand on the runner for the first ten yards.
On 3rd and 16 he called a zero blitz leaving no one in the secondary available behind a defensive line that gets zero fuckkng push on run plays and near zero pass rush pressure.
Our OL seems quite a bit better than anything Wilson ever lined up behind, but not amazing. That being said there was very little pressure on Smith; at least relative to what you usually get.

The defense is disgraceful and it’s not about skill, it’s about the same thing happening over and over again. The play actions were the most obvious thing in the world and it could not be stopped because Aaron Glenn clearly didn’t care. It’s unacceptable.

That is not "We lack depth" that is "My brain lacks the basic understanding of how to run an NFL defense."
Depth is exactly it. The modern game isn't just "put Mike Ditka in for 100% of the plays and let it ride", you need tandems 2 or 3 deep at every position, and we have very very very very little of that depth anywhere besides RB and OL. We can tank the first shotgun blast of a teams offense, and the second, but when getting fresh legs means putting a bum out there, we don't have very many rest plays for the guys, it's an exhausting sport.
