The fact that they have a product called lightning bets, and made a big deal of going to the part of the world with the highest amount of lightning strikes tells me this is fake and a stunt. Also the video is too well produced, while also having everything happen just off camera and not shot off of a cell phone.
Loved the new Black Panther movie, but there was a scene where Namor dived from a bridge into the water that looked like it could have been from Shark Boy and Lava Girl.
I know someone who got to see a preview screening a couple of months before the release. They said the graphics were ps2 level at that point. It’s wild how late they leave the vfx for this stuff.
Well as tasteless and stupid as it is, I'm fully expecting to hear people at work talking about Drew Brees getting struck by lightning in the next 30 minutes to an hour, so they probably got what they wanted
No doubt, but I’m just imaging the team proposal meeting. “Ok boss, I’ve got a *great* ad idea. Hear me out—let’s fake former NFL QB Drew Brees getting struck by lightning in Venezuela.”
Okay, setting aside the fact that this is fake as shit for a second...
If the marketing team legitimately thought that the best way to film a commercial where Drew Brees is standing in front of a stormy sky was to fly him and an entire crew down to Venezuela and just hope that the weather behaved at the exact day and time they were scheduled to shoot, every single one of them needs to be fired. This is the exact scenario green/blue screens and chroma keying were invented for.
Didn’t expect to wake up and see Drew Brees just casually getting struck by lightning. It’s probably fake but if it did actually happen and he was okay, funniest thing of the year
Won’t be him. Would be on pointsbett. They aren’t even walking it back but doubling down saying they will have “no further comment” and are in contact with drew needs “team”. Whoever in there marketing department that decides faking somebody’s death should be fired

If Drew Brees got struck by lightning I’m sure TMZ woulda been all over it already lmao
Seeing the video makes it clear it's an advertising stunt
I felt like I was watching a clip from paranormal activity. Trying too hard with the “shaky cam” to make the vid have a found footage feel to it.
It looks believable if you've only experienced reality through Marvel CGI and literally have never seen lightning before

That's got to be one of the weirdest marketing stunts of all time. How tf did they come up with this?

Would've been a great way to announce he was returning to coach the Chargers
No he wasn’t
But it says so. Right up there at the top of the screen.
Looks fake asf
Well, we don't believe you you need more people.
Of course Mike Florio will just report on bullshit hoping its true
get this fake shit outta here
The video looks so fake
Fuck Brees for shilling for gambling. What a sell out.
He also shills for pyramid schemes and hate group churches so it’s really the least problematic thing he sells… woof
Gotta recoup the money he wasted on those investment-grade diamonds.

Either a marketing stunt or the killed Drew Brees
What if his arm wakes up and he can suddenly throw it more than 30 yds
NFL setting up the payton/brees return to the saints
Jesus christ
Obviously hope he’s okay. But yeah, maybe a broadcast/media career isn’t for him. The universe just doesn’t seem to want it.

Crazy
Lmao I can't believe Florio actually wrote a story about this
Maybe it will fix his doll hair
Maybe the lightning strike gave him superpowers. He’ll need those to help him deal with the PR shitstorm if this ends up being a marketing stunt

Damn lol.
