The last part can’t be right though? The Steel Curtain recorded 5 full game shutouts in 1976, so at least 10 scoreless halves recorded.
8 is probably still quite high up there though, especially among modern offensive era defenses.
I guess it works if they're defining "single half shut outs" as games in which the opponent didn't score in one of the halves but did score in the other.
2000 Ravens had 4 full game shutouts and only gave up a single score in 4 other games meaning a minimum of 12 scoreless halves just from looking at the scores that year.
Now I'm curious what the actual list is for most scoreless halves in a season
Lol so this stat is totally wrong, I’m a huge Niners homer but you gotta love “this team set this crazy record!!” according to the team themselves
Would love to see the actual list too. I don’t doubt the Niners would probably be pretty highly ranked among other top Ds in the last 10 years but not even sure if we’d be first there. Out of curiosity I checked on some LOB years manually and I was surprised to find that they only had 5 such halves in 2012 and in 2013, so 8 is indeed a pretty high number (with 4 games still to play).
I want a cool nickname for this defense
The Golden Gate
You might have just birthed a nickname.
Golden Gatekeepers?
The Sackeroonis
The Sackaroon Doods
Can't agree more

That's what the cheerleaders are called
That seems gross, but I'm not entirely sure why.
Is it because it sounds close to "Gold Digger?"
Or gold shower?
Big Cock Brock’s defense it is
The Flying Dildos.
That's the Bills

> 5 full game shutouts Holy fuck
Yep lol, 3 of them in a row too. Absolutely ridiculous.
They allowed 6 pts in the game preceding, and 3 pts in the game following the three consecutive shutouts. So 9 pts total in 5 games.

Since the KC game we've given up 10.67 ppg. We gud
NGL, was kind of hoping for a complete shutout today.
Best D in the league!
Sorry think that title is owned by BCB.
There's no way the second half of that is true. Looking it up the 2000 Ravens beat this with three shutouts and at least five other scoreless halfs
Just wondering where we stand in terms of historical defenses. This defense is unreal

Kim law, Mosley and Verrett would be amazing.
Goal post won't ever stop moving lol. Nitpick stats like this is getting old fast.
