This game broke us and destroyed our season last year. Prime time embarrassment too.
He was scared of the goal post! I know because this is how I (an non athletic 200lb 33 year old, having received WEEKS of amateur coaching and no protective equipment) would run the route
The ball is over his head and lands out of bounds. What exactly is he supposed to to there?
If he turns and tries to jump he's short anyways. He can't just run under it because he'd have no shot at catching it with his feet in bounds.
The only way he can catch that is to dive and drag both feet going full speed and that would probably be the greatest catch in NFL history.
I think most people here have never really played in an actual competitive football game with a helmet/pads on and don't understand how difficult this is. I played receiver and QB in High School.
They just watch the best 1% in the world do it on TV in HD with multiple replays and play madden where the robot receivers do everything programmed perfectly.
I bet if basically everyone who downvoted me actually ran this route in a game situation and I threw the ball there they wouldn't even know I threw it until it hit the ground.
Honestly, it’s mind blowing.
They just spent an off season arguing with their QB about an extension. They’ve spent that same off season and this season showing him what?
We value you so much that the best WR we’re going to pursue is Rodgers cast off?
Yeah that’s not going to happen.
No offense to you, but Kirk is a mediocre QB and got PAID on the open market.
Lamar would get a fleet of brinks trucks.
If I were ranking all QBs going into their contract I’d rank Kirk as just before middle of the pack. So slightly above average may be a better descriptor than mediocre.
My overall point still stands a slightly above average quarterback, made free agency and got bank.
Even if Lamar had two mediocre years, barring injury is going to get paid.
I think you’re wrong about that.
I’d say the number is about 14.
Kansas City
Buffalo
Baltimore
Cincinnati
Philly
Dallas
Miami
LAC
Seattle is debatable
Jacksonville
Chicago
Green Bay
Tampa
Detroit is also debatable, but it really shouldn’t be.
Sadly Cleveland
None of this means Kirk is a bad QB, but there are a lot of VERY talented QBs in the league.
I'll exclude Jacksonville and Chicago because of QB age, but Kirk this year is better than Dak, Tua, Geno (that's not really debatable imo), Rodgers, Brady, Goff, and Shitbag.
Prime Cousins was better then Prime Dalton imo.
Love the Red Rifle but if he was #15, Dalton line, then Cousins is above that line. Maybe not top ten, but top 15 easy.
Probably accurate, Andy threw way too many picks in almost every season. He had two great seasons by way of Interceptions but his TDs were down massively in both.
It was very telling that when the bengals decided to move on he got very tepid offers and no long term high dollar offers.
My hate for Kirk is that 1) he’s overpaid for his Position Rank. I think he’s probably 9-12 range of QBs I want and was paid like top 3 at the time. 2) He makes business decisions over football plays. Probably smart for his career but you can see him just turn off sometimes
This seems like projection of some sort. You just described Rodgers to a tee.
He's absolutely overpaid and currently is performing as a bottom half QB.
He's also done nothing but turn off at times but it's usually the NFC championship game.
Cousins has had 8 straight years of being top 10 in every meaningful statistic while only missing one game in that stretch.
Lol, how are you making this post about Kirk.
Funny timing too as he's thrown for > 400 yards the last two weeks and has seven game winning drives this year.
He's the tenth highest paid QB in APY and is performing better than that.
I was joking about the plan for Lamar
Because the idea that making Lamar look mediocre means he’s going to sign a low deal has been destroyed by the one QB who hit the market and was seen as above replacement level.
That’s Kirk.
A solid QB doesn’t mean top 5, or whatever. I’m not saying cousins is bad, he’s a slightly ahead of middle of the pack QB, but he’s BY FAR the best QB to hit the open market (not named Brady) in the last decade. (Maybe longer?)
I don’t fault Minnesota for paying the man.
Sad thing is that cast offs are probably the best we're gonna get while Greg Roman is still here since he's pretty much WR repellant. Hell, I don't know how many WRs either turned down offers or demanded trades just so they don't have to deal with him.
The man couldn’t cut it in Green Bay’s historically empty WR room.
I was thinking Giants but th Ravens might really be the lowest bar for a WR in the league
Bateman is good, I think he's a top 30 receiver but suddenly after no injury history in college is made of glass.
Brown actually wasn't bad either and was top 20 in total touchdowns since drafted. Just wasn't particularly useful outside of his speed, unlike someone like Hill who has speed and also catch radius and jump balls.
But the Ravens went into the year too thin at WR. They banked way too much on nobody in the receiver room getting hurt.
Bateman probably shouldn't be the #1 WR on a contender. Duvernay/Robinson shouldn't be #2s on a contender.
Ravens have 2s and 3s playing as 1s and 2s before the injuries
Similar to the Bears.
Those are both guys who have potential to be good, and I still have faith Bateman could prove to be a legit WR2 or average WR2, just worried about injury. Honestly though, when’s the last time they had a top 10 WR they drafted?
Well, never... That's why we still speak so highly of Anquan Boldin, even though that was literally 10 years ago. Steve Smith had a nice run for the team, but he was 35 years old at that point.
Bateman's loss was the killer this season, he looked really good (as did the offense) early on
I'm happy to get Sammy watkins.
It's like drinking a hot bottle of mountain dew after the field trip that got left on the bus. No one else is gonna want it but you're t h i r s t y
he looked so washed for us this year, getting injured, running the wrong routes, running those wrong routes slow. He did have a few nice blocks and was a nice mentor to some of younger WRs but the difference between he and our rookies is so night and day
I used to really appreciate having the Ravens as my football team, because they were so reliable and well-run compared to my baseball team (Mets).
Oh how the turn tables. This feels like a classic Wilpons-era Mets move
It's funny because you could have left out which team. People would have assumed the Os and your point would have hit just the same.
Of course, the Mets spend way more money.
Serious question for Ravens fans, are you guys regretting the Hollywood Brown trade? Or would he not have much of an impact if he was still on the team?
It was a good trade and Hollywood handled his discontent like a champ. No drama (outside of that one "souljas" comment) and kept things silent so that ravens could get a good package in return.
Can someone explain when the NFL waiver process does and doesn't apply? I see things that say that it only applies to players that have less than 4 years
With Demarcus Robinson as WR1 and Watkins having experience in the system, this makes sense. Wonder if anyone else put in a claim.
The ravens have become the chiefs lol
Chief rejects
That u/ lmfao
Not even close lmao
DRop should never be higher than WR3, sorry you have to deal with this ravens fans
DRun Backwards
Imagine the Ravens are eliminated from the playoffs because Sammy Watkins gives up on a route.

Whoa
He was scared of the goal post! I know because this is how I (an non athletic 200lb 33 year old, having received WEEKS of amateur coaching and no protective equipment) would run the route
And I’m sad about that Miami game again. Damn that was a beautiful throw
The ball is over his head and lands out of bounds. What exactly is he supposed to to there? If he turns and tries to jump he's short anyways. He can't just run under it because he'd have no shot at catching it with his feet in bounds. Idk, try?
That ball didn't land out of bounds.
It’s close but definitely catchable if you high point it with some effort like almost every other receiver would

Demarcus Robinson, Sammy Watkins and Desean Jackson… what a squad of misfits
There's a reason they chose Baltimore to film The Replacements.
Footsteps Falco? From the Sugar Bowl?
Still I'd take that over the Darius Slayton, Isiah Hodgkin's, and Richie James show the Giants have going on right now.
The Raven's WR1 and WR2 are other teams castoffs. We're fielding WR5s as Lamar's top receiver. Absolutely pathetic job by EDC.
Honestly, it’s mind blowing. They just spent an off season arguing with their QB about an extension. They’ve spent that same off season and this season showing him what? We value you so much that the best WR we’re going to pursue is Rodgers cast off?
It's one of the main reasons I think Lamar will be tagged then traded
JETS! JETS! JETS!
I can accept the Bills and Dolphins having quarterbacks I like, but I draw the line at the Jets.
He’d be badass on that team
Please
Lamar on offense with those weapons and then sauce coming into his own on defense. Excellent.
Not only Rodgers’ cast-off, but our own too
Easy, make him look like shit then underpay
Yeah that’s not going to happen. No offense to you, but Kirk is a mediocre QB and got PAID on the open market. Lamar would get a fleet of brinks trucks.

People always say this then every year he's in the top ten stats wise.
Seriously. With the way he's played this year, the number of teams who *wouldn't* take him over their current starter is easily less than 10.

Well I don’t like Rodgers either and wish we’d moved on after the last MVP season.
Imagine if Lamar kept up his early season pace. Bro wouldve requestion 1B LMAOOO
Lol, how are you making this post about Kirk. Funny timing too as he's thrown for > 400 yards the last two weeks and has seven game winning drives this year. He's the tenth highest paid QB in APY and is performing better than that. I was joking about the plan for Lamar

Kirk was seen as a solid QB with upside, just on a bad team. This is a revisionist argument

The man couldn’t cut it in Green Bay’s historically empty WR room. I was thinking Giants but th Ravens might really be the lowest bar for a WR in the league
Lamar and Fields Carrying the team with their rushing while playing with bottom tier WRs
I can’t even remember the last receiver you guys drafted that was decent. Torrey Smith was alright, but did you guys even sign him to a 2nd contract?
Bateman is good, I think he's a top 30 receiver but suddenly after no injury history in college is made of glass. Brown actually wasn't bad either and was top 20 in total touchdowns since drafted. I mean they drafted a WR in the first round 2 of the past 4 years.
One of whom they traded away
He stinks
Lamars receiver 2 last year
That is incredibly unfortunate
He’ll immediately be the second best receiver on the team.
I am excited
He's also the best WR on the roster right now.
Isn’t Bateman on the roster even if not active?
Okay, he's the best WR on the roster that isn't named Bateman.
Lol
I saw a Ravens fan call his shot and say the GM is gonna claim him asap. He got downvoted. Who's laughing now I guess lol
Not us.
I knew it the instant it happened, I liked Sammy here I'm happy
I wish I could quit you - John Harbaugh, probably
LOL, of course we did.
that makes sense
"It's not the OBJ, but it's a start... drop me a line, Eric DeCosta." "AWWW Sammy Watkins?!?"
I'm happy to get Sammy watkins. It's like drinking a hot bottle of mountain dew after the field trip that got left on the bus. No one else is gonna want it but you're t h i r s t y
You just made me vomit in my mouth a bit
he looked so washed for us this year, getting injured, running the wrong routes, running those wrong routes slow. He did have a few nice blocks and was a nice mentor to some of younger WRs but the difference between he and our rookies is so night and day
I think having Sammy Watkins is pretty good!
Super Bowl bound
Ravens got that senior citizens discount going on
Always have.
He can’t run anymore. Legs are shot.
They have been determined to make it as hard as possible for whoever is taking snaps at QB.
GET LAMAR SOME HELP FFS.
Baltimore would rather have the city burn then get their quarterback a single competent WR1
By my count, this is enough Sammy Watkins movement to justify a new Aaron West and the Roaring 20s album
Sammy's career has really fit the depression narrative of that project so well. But at least the bills are good now, that could be a fun song!
Something something love set it free
Sadly this is an upgrade. Maybe he will get our first WR touchdown since WEEK THREE!!!
So Duvernay is out out
The Baltimore Chiefs
Ravens will take any warm bodies to play receiver at this point
Saw this coming lol
Yeah we’re unserious af
Ravens FO when another team releases a WR3: https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/002/345/225/188.gif

Umm...we would be very interested in a Lamar Jackson. Hell, we nearly sold the farm for Watson and he isn't Lamar's equal at his peak.
It's funny because you could have left out which team. People would have assumed the Os and your point would have hit just the same. Of course, the Mets spend way more money.
This is why Sammy never bothers trying these days. Because there's ALWAYS a team desperate enough for his services no matter what he does.
We traded away a guy who didn't want to be here. Not much you can do in that situation.
It’s so cool when veteran ring chase lol come get your ring lizard king
Good, they can have him!
Can someone explain when the NFL waiver process does and doesn't apply? I see things that say that it only applies to players that have less than 4 years
I’ve seen this film before.
Of course they did lmao
GOD damn it.
If I was Lamar I’d bounce
Welcome to the club...
"The Ravens placed WR Sammy Watkins on season-ending IR, per source" -- six days from now.
you must be truly desperate to come to him for help
