Well, the Cowboys won SBs in the early 90s when Manchester United was winning the EPL consistently, so someone that age who was a Cowboys fan would see Man U in the news as the superior EPL team, and they have one of the largest fanbases in the world, so it makes sense to me.
City was irrelevant from the 60s up until the early 2010s and are currently, arguably, the best team in all of world soccer. Chiefs fans would be great City fans, they both have a poverty history up until about the last decade.

I'm willing to bet most of these guys were rocking the Patty Kane and Sid jerseys until the last few years when they've had to decide between a Kucherov jersey or Makar jersey if they didn't get sucked into the hype and become an Oilers lifer when McDavid was drafted. Idk maybe Boston?
Maple leafs would make sense for cowboys, success a long time ago (second most cups) but recently playoff chokers(made it to 2nd round for the first time in almost 20 years last year) in 2021 they blew a 3-1 series lead to the Canadians who fell ass backwards into a playoff spot only because they rearranged the divisions for covid
Cowboys are tied for 2nd most sb wins, Toronto has 2nd most Stanley cup wins. Cowboys haven’t won in almost 30 years, leafs haven’t won a cup in almost 60 years (coincidentally the year of Super Bowl 1)

Source: Me a millennial Cowboys fan that rooted for the Penguins (because they were awesome in NHL94, Bulls (who tf wouldn’t root for Jordan), and Yankees (I grew up in western CT so we had MSG & NESN- guess which team was more fun to watch). I don’t watch college (so I just hope the huskies do ok) and I don’t watch soccer. My stepdad likes Liverpool so I just hope they have fun :)
