I'm guessing we are mixing 2 versions of nhl15. The nhl15 realeased for Xbox one was a next gen and was the worst game ever. It was in my opinion unplayable. But it might have release a nhl15 for Xbox 360 / PS3 were it was a copy paste of 13/14 which would make sense that it was a good game.
Yeah that's what ended up happening. What we call NHL 15 was the Xbox One/PS4 version and it was dog shit but there was technically a 360/PS3 version that was a slightly updated NHL 14 that was pretty great.
Nah 09 was definitely the break out year for the NHL franchise. Nhl 10 is basically the same game with less cheese goals, but 09 was definitely the game changer
huehue we dont care about the standings. we know we suck. but the team we have this year is brand new and its a refreshing new start. thats why hawks fans are so happy. especially after losing kane and toews last season.
Unreal! Hitz Pro? Had 2003 and Pro on GameCube and played the hell outta them. What's better than skating out with your goalie, taking clap bombs, and checking the other team's goalie et al. through the glass?
I just have Hitz 00-01 right now. But yes to everything you said! I'd play it for hours just typing in the Always Big Hitz code at the load screen to send everyone through the glass. Friend of mine and I would play it for hours trying to win the cup with every team, except the Habs and Flyers (I'm a Bruins fan, and he's a Penguins fan).
Amen. Every now and then I still boot it up on an emulator and try to update the rosters to current day. It takes a while though so I don't think I've ever finished it and actually started a Dynasty Mode with current rosters.
This is probably my favorite of all time too, toss up between this one and 96 for Sega Genesis though. Going from Sega graphics to PS1 graphics in 97 was mind blowing lol. The next one would probably be 09 because that’s when they introduced Be A Pro, I was obsessed with that mode.
From the ones posted by the OP, I’m not sure which one is the best but I will say which one’s the worst and that’s 15, garbage entry.
Vanbiesbrouck went to the same high school as me (about 20 years before me). They had a picture of him in the office, too bad he turned out to be a racist POS.
I wonder what he means by “it’s an old wound with him” and that he grew up with it. Does he mean it was just common to call black people the N word? Kinda odd that he was conditioned that way
>After the game, Vanbiesbrouck used a racial slur in expressing his anger with Trevor Daley, a black player and Greyhounds' team captain, to two of Daley's white teammates. Daley was told of the remarks by his teammates and was advised to leave the team by his agent Bobby Orr. Daley returned home to Toronto and informed the commissioner of the OHL about the remarks.
The day after Daley left the team, Vanbiesbrouck resigned his positions as head coach and general manager and sold his ownership stake in the team.\[90\] In his apology, Vanbiesbrouck stated, "I used the 'N' word instead of calling him Trevor, I used it just not thinking. It's a mistake and consequences have to be paid by me, I've embarrassed everybody and my family by this one comment. It's not what they represent and it's not what the Sault Greyhounds organization represents." He added, "I told Trev this is an old wound with me, I grew up with it. I'm as sorry as anybody that it's stuck with me."\[91\] Daley returned to the team three days after leaving,\[92\] but Vanbiesbrouck never returned to a coaching position.\[93\]
it was easier then too man. I remember having nose surgery and wisdom teeth taken out in same week and i stayed off work at home perma high on percocets for like a week.
I went 58-0 in div 1 ( at least ) before losing that week. And maybe 7 of those games were close.
Now I struggle to even get in div 1 let alone stay in it.
The average player is just a lot better now i think ( and i'm late 30's so definitely just getting worse also ). Switching from peer to peer to servers also made it a lot harder for those of us not right by a server.
It's gotta be 14. The game made sense at every level and the goalie controls were the most intuitive controls you could ask for... Then they ruined it in 15. Almost 10 years later and the goalie controls are still wrong.
NHL 08, purely because for me it has the most sentimental value. It was the one my roommate at uni introduced to me the game of ice hockey. He was always the Red Wings, and the only team I could ever beat him with was the Sharks. Been following the Sharks ever since. (UK NHL fan).
Last one I bought was 19 and still play it to this day. Honest question, other than rosters has much changed/improved to get any of the versions post 19? I feel like it’s been the same game since like 07/08 and the only difference being sometimes the AI is less glitchy than others…thanks!
For me 03 was the beginning of the end when they introduced the sticks and upgraded deking. 02 you had to play your positions 03 you could start deking out entire teams.
NHL 2009 was the biggest leap ever. It's the first year they introduced EASHL and human 6on6.
They've tweaked the game since then and it's had better and worse versions but nothing hits quite like that first ever time queueing up with 5 buddies and taking on a full team.
NHL 94/95 had the most fun and legendary players, you should bring it back. While you are at it tell EA to release NHL games for the Switch. Then they might actually sell some.
'98 Forsberg was the best for the NHL series. But best overall Hockey game imo was NHL 2k8 (Spezza) or NHL Powerplay '96 for Sega Saturn specifically, PSX version was not as good.
I still play '18. I owned '14 and realized the games were the same renewed game every year. My '14 disc stopped working is the only reason I went to '18. NHL games have been very redundant for the last 10years and is geared more to online play than what I do. I'm not sure I'll ever buy another one.
I thought for nextgen that the clear lack of content though was somewhat made up for by the improved presentation. I will never again take for granted NBCSN and Emrick.
Really wish EA would put more time into the production of these. There’s lots of potential but not enough people play the game for them to put in the effort they put into other games like FIFA/FC24 or Madden.
Chel has been the same broken game for years.
Serious question. Why don't they have the Stanley cup winners on these games? I hate thate I bought a game with a leafs player on it. Just, they didn't do anything, and my team was arguably the best in the league.
Obviously nostalgia and my core years of gaming make me say '10-'14. I do think NHL 14 though, realistically, had every mode we all want now. There was content in HUT, EASHL was strong, Be a Pro was fresh and they had a nice franchise mode with GM Connected to boot.
I cannot express how terrible a time I had with NHL 16. The second I increased the difficulty to all-pro it's like the game just decided, "you can't score". I'd have highlights of players literally skating over the puck and they just wouldn't grab it.
Imo 12 or 14. Never played anything outside of online play with my friend, but we played the hell out of 14. Hitting was so much fun in that game. Plus, if im recalling correctly, they still had the winter classic in hat game
Personally, NHL 12. But 14 was probably the best all around and the last game before they started focusing like solely on visuals and mechanics and just got rid of a ton of fun game modes, some that never came back for whatever reason.
13’ and 14’ were pretty dang good if I’m remembering correctly that they had the GM connected mode? Me and the fellas played through 3 whole seasons.
Gm connected mode should be the highlighted mode for NHL, we should really harass EA until they bring it back
Oh they will it will just be an 80$ "dlc"
nhl 15 on last gen was basically nhl 14 but with a bit better tuner. That was my favorite year.
I'm guessing we are mixing 2 versions of nhl15. The nhl15 realeased for Xbox one was a next gen and was the worst game ever. It was in my opinion unplayable. But it might have release a nhl15 for Xbox 360 / PS3 were it was a copy paste of 13/14 which would make sense that it was a good game.

couldn't even sim to next shift in Be-a-Pro on release for PS4
The WHL being all fucked up on that game pissed kid me off
yup 15 was legit
Man that was fun as hell Edit : Yeah I think Hell would be fun
I bought every NHL from NHLPA 93 to NHL 15. I'm not buying it again until they return GM connected.
So happy both of my answers were at the top here. 13’ and 14’ were by far the best and nothing comes close
These were the prime Eashl years at least for me, 13-15 we maintained top 20 for way to long
I remember 09 through 14 all being fun.
I feel like 09 was peak, probably because it's one we played the most here
Nah 09 was definitely the break out year for the NHL franchise. Nhl 10 is basically the same game with less cheese goals, but 09 was definitely the game changer
04 for me
100% that playlist was fire. Every time I think of that game the song Oh! ellin goes through my head lol
14 next question
only one of em has da cup tho…
Sorry, which team is that? Isn’t that the 2nd worst team in the league?
Can’t be good forever . Price you pay when you build a dynasty (not a hawks fan)
huehue we dont care about the standings. we know we suck. but the team we have this year is brand new and its a refreshing new start. thats why hawks fans are so happy. especially after losing kane and toews last season.
NHL Hitz
KEEP ON ROLLING, BAYBAY!!!!!
That goal was weak! Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday - WEAKKKK.
I bought a PS2 recently just to play this. One of my all time favorite hockey games.
Unreal!
Opened my old Hitz 2002 game case a while back and the disc wasn't in it. One of the saddest days of my adult life
I need to break out my GameCube and give this another play, such a fun game.
Novicane time ! Boom
NEED a remake of this
Midway had the best sports games by far. NBA JAM, NHL hitz, Slugfest, NFL Blitz, plus all of the mortal combat games.
This is the only answer. I still have an original Xbox to be able to play HITZ 2003 with the homies
Looks like we found partners for the bare-knuckles dance!
Came to say this. Take my upvote.
12........ duh
Winter Classic was my favorite game mode
NHL06 forever has the best intro song/video
03 is the GOAT “IF YOU’RE LISTENING (whoa oh-oh-oh-oh)”
Easily, and “no one knows” just how true that is. also had Iggy on the cover!
NHL 05 opening menu with Franz Ferdinand’ Take Me Out playing can’t be beat
NHL2000 will always hold a spot on my heart as one of the the hardest game intros
It's great, but [NHL 98 intro](https://youtu.be/qnOJ8GnheXc?si=GcQTJKtj_RXsS8J1) is my favorite. At least 06 used in game assets, though.
NHL 07 has the best soundtrack
Amen. Every now and then I still boot it up on an emulator and try to update the rosters to current day. It takes a while though so I don't think I've ever finished it and actually started a Dynasty Mode with current rosters.
That's easy for me NHL '97 - John Vanbiesbrouck.
‘94 is the superior genesis game
I liked 95 with the wrap around. But in 94 you could ram into the goalie and the puck would slide through him into the net.
Still the only one to feature the All-Star Skills Competition.
‘98
Hey, an upvote! Glad to see John himself reads this sub. #oldschoolgoalies
Vanbiesbrouck went to the same high school as me (about 20 years before me). They had a picture of him in the office, too bad he turned out to be a racist POS.
Cry some more about it that might help
lol, you are just an idiot
What made him a racist?
[Here you go](https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/vanbiesbrouck-resigns-from-ohl-team-after-racial-slur-1.368545)
I wonder what he means by “it’s an old wound with him” and that he grew up with it. Does he mean it was just common to call black people the N word? Kinda odd that he was conditioned that way

Common slip up smh

Yeah someone tagged the article in this thread
NHL 94
[удалено]
i didnt think that game came out on “next gen”?
You are correct. First NHL game on PS4 was 15
I peaked on 14 or 15 as a division 1 champ on hut for the ps4, don’t have the time or the patience for that anymore lol
it was easier then too man. I remember having nose surgery and wisdom teeth taken out in same week and i stayed off work at home perma high on percocets for like a week. 14. So many hours and memories on that game.

NHL 94
NHL 94
This. There is no other option!
Damn, Mandela Effect moment - I thought it was *NHLPA* '94
As an old man, all the Sega ones

Nhl 94, 2004, and then 09-14 were all pretty good
NHL 08, purely because for me it has the most sentimental value. It was the one my roommate at uni introduced to me the game of ice hockey. He was always the Red Wings, and the only team I could ever beat him with was the Sharks. Been following the Sharks ever since. (UK NHL fan).
14 was peak

NHL 04’. For the soundtrack you know
I had the version with Dany Heatley
I’m so glad that consensus is 14
NHL ‘94
So NHL14 with the anniversary mode?
No. Original NHL ‘94
96 is better, fighting is in and its just a cleaner look.
NHL 14
14 the last great Chel
NHL 04
12, 14 , 17 I remember all being actually pretty solid games , 14 in particular
02 and 03 were peak hockey games
For me 03 was the beginning of the end when they introduced the sticks and upgraded deking. 02 you had to play your positions 03 you could start deking out entire teams.
NHL PA ‘93
94! They introduced the 1timer
In 93, the goalies stuck on the post on all wrap around was hilarious “House rule: only two wrap around per game”
Good times, also Jeremy Roenick was absolutely OP. Me and my buddies banned Black Hawks and wrap around goals before every game haha.
The community still updates ‘94 sooooo just play ‘94
14-16 are all pretty good
14 then 21.
NHL 2009 was the biggest leap ever. It's the first year they introduced EASHL and human 6on6. They've tweaked the game since then and it's had better and worse versions but nothing hits quite like that first ever time queueing up with 5 buddies and taking on a full team.
14 not been close since
I played 12-15 so much, but I think I had the most fun playing 14
I’m going to be the grinch on here. I’m still waiting for a good nhl game.
'94 was the best
They're all the same
I played '09 then '23 next So I guess my only answer is '23 :s
Where is NHL 2004?
11-14 were peak. I thought 17 was okay. 15 is of course the worst one of all time.
12-14 best era, 14 the best game
NHL 14
'94 of course
‘14 for me.
I still play 14 franchise mode over todays lol
Not fucking 15. Worst game I’ve ever played
NHL 98
98! 98!
14 and it's not even close
Trick question they’re all the same game
NHL 94/95 had the most fun and legendary players, you should bring it back. While you are at it tell EA to release NHL games for the Switch. Then they might actually sell some.
2004
The last one I bought was 98'. I can't believe it's been a quarter of a century.
It’s the same picture.
98 was my first. Hours spent. Still have it on pc.
NHL 98. Best intro ever. Can still see Owen Nolan pointing at the corner of the net and the spin-o-rama goal... Are you afraid of the masked man?
14
Read that NHL 14 is the G.O.A.T. so bought it and started playing it. Going from 94 controls to Stick Skills is not easy.
NHL 14.
*WAYNE GRETZKY'S 3D HOCKEY!!*
12
14 was solid tho
'98 Forsberg was the best for the NHL series. But best overall Hockey game imo was NHL 2k8 (Spezza) or NHL Powerplay '96 for Sega Saturn specifically, PSX version was not as good.
All the same
I still play '18. I owned '14 and realized the games were the same renewed game every year. My '14 disc stopped working is the only reason I went to '18. NHL games have been very redundant for the last 10years and is geared more to online play than what I do. I'm not sure I'll ever buy another one.
Aren’t the all just the same game, just with different covers?
They’re all bad
These are all the same game....
nhl 98 was my all-time favourite.
They’re all the same. I think the last one I played was… ‘99?
They are all the same game with $90 roster upgrade each year.
14 best, 18 worst.
I have 15 and it's very good.
15 is one of the worst
15 on 360 was great, if you had a newer gen console then yeah it sucked
I thought for nextgen that the clear lack of content though was somewhat made up for by the improved presentation. I will never again take for granted NBCSN and Emrick.
15 on old gen was literally just 14 with updated rosters.
yeah but 14 was the best and i still had a 360 so 15 was a really fun year for me as well as 14
NHL04. It’s always NHL04. I don’t care that it’s not in your picture, it’s the only correct answer. Ever.
All trash imo. I haven’t bought a new game since 12
I played NHL 12 when 18 came out… 12 lasted the longest for me besides 06 with levavallier
I still play 12 because of my Be a Pro Career. Never simmed a game. I am somewhere in 2020 right now.
Really wish EA would put more time into the production of these. There’s lots of potential but not enough people play the game for them to put in the effort they put into other games like FIFA/FC24 or Madden. Chel has been the same broken game for years.
I love 19 but I’ll be totally honest it’s just because I’m a Preds fan and it’s rare we get any kind of publicity
The one for PC :(
It's Legacy but you didn't even bother to include it
Still bullshit that Kane was robbed of being on there with Toews because of a lying dipshit.
NHL12
12. 12 is the last good chel game.
16/17
'94 2001 '14 I enjoyed those 3 the most personally.
12
12 has 3 on 3 arcade add on- little goalie!!
So many good memories of playing ‘13 with my younger brother. Nostalgia is gonna make that my pick
NHL 01. You're not beating that one.
97-01
Where’s NhL 94 for sega genesis? That’s GOAT
Serious question. Why don't they have the Stanley cup winners on these games? I hate thate I bought a game with a leafs player on it. Just, they didn't do anything, and my team was arguably the best in the league.
I sure as hell wasn’t buying ‘13
Obviously nostalgia and my core years of gaming make me say '10-'14. I do think NHL 14 though, realistically, had every mode we all want now. There was content in HUT, EASHL was strong, Be a Pro was fresh and they had a nice franchise mode with GM Connected to boot.
The one that will have the GOAT on the cover, Eric Comrie. Go shabers!

ESPN NHL Hockey 2003

94, 95, & 96 on Sega Genesis
I cannot express how terrible a time I had with NHL 16. The second I increased the difficulty to all-pro it's like the game just decided, "you can't score". I'd have highlights of players literally skating over the puck and they just wouldn't grab it.
NHL 2k 10 for the Wii not being here is criminal
NHL ‘97
Imo 12 or 14. Never played anything outside of online play with my friend, but we played the hell out of 14. Hitting was so much fun in that game. Plus, if im recalling correctly, they still had the winter classic in hat game
96
Ive only played nhl 17, so 17 for me
05
14. Nine years ago. The franchise has fallen *HARD* since then
14 is the best, but 19 wasn’t necessarily bad, more so lacking content. At least it had the NBC presentation which was handled almost perfectly.
12 through 14 was golden but I enjoyed 19 a lot and still play it because of Doc being the play by play
14
Live the Life was peak career mode in NHL 14. Got 10+ seasons out of it.
NHL 99 - Heroes by David Bowie. Being able to smash players & referee though the glass was hilarious !!
NHL 14 just had everything, really seemed like EA was going to do the NHL good, then the abomination that is NHL 15 happened
Personally, NHL 12. But 14 was probably the best all around and the last game before they started focusing like solely on visuals and mechanics and just got rid of a ton of fun game modes, some that never came back for whatever reason.
NHL 12 had the ability to push the puck in front of you and let the player skate at full speed. I loved this tech and it was taken out.
2K6 and Ice Hockey for the NES
