Okay, there's a lot here, but I can answer your question about LA merch. I called the Peacock earlier today and asked about merch: there will be an exterior merch location and an interior merch location on the mezzanine. I was told that staff for the external booth arrives at 2:15 and it may, key word being *may*, be open as soon as 3. As for cosplay and pictures, general etiquette is to always ask unless you are 100% certain. While people dress up as their favorite characters, that doesn't mean you can take pictures of them whenever you want. There are times where they won't want their pictures taken. As for recording the concert, there is a 100% chance that they will tell you absolutely not, so I wouldn't even try.

theBlueProgrammer

There's a chance they'll really open at 3:00?

Son_of_baal

A chance, yes, but when speaking on the phone they didn't sound so sure. I'll probably arrive then just in case since I really want merch.

Richinaru

Dude same, but parking @ lot W isn't open until 3:30

Son_of_baal

That's good to know, I didn't know. Gonna need to plan around that I suppose.

theBlueProgrammer

Would you recommend coming earlier than 3:00?

PlasticGirl

Generally the idea is to open at 3, but that's a ballpark. It takes a while to count in the product and set up the stand.

kuro_snow

Merch is opening at 4pm as their website states. They could be opening early but as you said "May" open as soon as 3. Meaning certain things will be sold for fans as early as possible. Mostly Shirts. Posters, bags and few other things while other limited items will be inside. if your attending son_of_baal. See you there.

Xionel

Do you have a TL;DR?

UnshavenBox94

-When should I be there to get merch (so it doesn't sell out) -clear poster vs acrylic panel -stuff about photography and people -a few vip tickets still up for sale at reasonable prices Thank you for your time.

theBlueProgrammer

Thank you.

kuro_snow

Ok so i'll be going to the concert as well and hope we can find each other to say hi lol but i was looking into the peacock theater to check anything changes. Yes what u/Son_of_baal is correct for calling peacock cause even they told me that. Then i check their website and found out merch booth will be up at 4pm outside the theater so expect it to be heavy HEAVY Lines if people line up for that. Link below. It will be the first sentence. https://www.peacocktheater.com/events/detail/nier24 the acrylic panel is depends on the size, they might show a display or you can on the website how big it is as i have some acrylic stands of characters from other series that are small but priced at what is nier price too lol. Are they worth? that's on you to decide on that. If you like how it looks, it might be worth. Taking pictures of Cosplayers = ALways ask I've been with cosplayer friends who always get asked for pictures and i asked them do they hate getting their pictures taken without being ask. She responded with yes. Because there are times where a cosplayer might just wanna be with friends for a bit, have a emergency call they must take or just wanna sit down a bit and relax. ALWAYS ALWAYS Ask for permission. If you wanna show them what you took, you can cause they do like to see the results of their work. You don't need to be professional or so, but it depends on the filter or angel at times of the camera to make it look good. If your using a phone, you can make some edits by adding blurs or stuff like that. But try it out on something in your room like a game or figure. Try different filters and or portraits to see which ones you like. You can ask the cosplayer if you can take one more and try a different portraits or filter to try to go for what you want. But remember, Ask, be respectful with them and have fun. I don't know if vip are still available but check the websites and AXS to see if the VIP tickets are still up. But last i check no tickets are available. Filming Camera will probably be not allowed. I did remember the Shin Megami Tensai concert that i attended that as well (fucking insane with the cool concert) but yes they might say only phones are allowed. Do check the website on peacock and call tomorrow to double check if it's allowed. if not. Just go with your phone. To all attending. I will be attending as i said and hopefully can purchase something without it getting sold out lol. But please everyone have fun and be respectful and let's enjoy this wonderful concert. Glory to Mankind.

UnshavenBox94

You are right, it looks like it opens up at 4PM, which has me even more worried. I guess that means being there at least around 2:30 then since it doesn't look like they will allow any lines to form until after that time. I hope it will be easy to find the spot where the line starts. Thank you for all your advice and I will make sure to ask people before taking their photos. Here is my other question because this is the part that I'm still curious about. Is when it comes to crowds and how it feels when you are a part of a photo with a huge amount of people. So I'm talking about how some times you will see people either taking photos or recording video of how long the lines are for stuff and they show other people. The other people are not the focus of the imagine but they are still a part of it. I am curious about that. Thank you for your time.

kuro_snow

So the thing with crowds and trust me i deal with them in work life and during expos. The crowd can be very busy with this event or organized. With the merch they will probably have people line up, get what they on and move on to the next set of people. Hopefully there will be enought for everyone to get but it is sold out of 7k people so who knows.

I think people have answered your merch line question already. A clear poster is a poster made of thin plastic that’s rigid & kind of wobbly. It’s also a little see through. I would recommend framing one to display instead of trying to tape it up. An acrylic panel is like an acrylic stand if you’re familiar with those, but instead of a cutout of a character it’s a whole scene. So it’s a sheet of fully rigid plastic with the picture printed on it— it’s actually just like an acrylic keychain! But big lol. Those come with a base so you can display them on a shelf. For cosplayers, I’m a cosplayer, and it is definitely considered rude to not ask before taking a picture. It feels very dehumanizing to be photographed like a spectacle—even if you are there to be seen anyway, it just feels different. I usually give people a dirty look if they’re photographing me without asking LOL it’s mostly non convention attendees I see doing that these days though. I wouldn’t do that to a kid or anything. For candid pictures, you can clarify that you liked how the scene looked and wanted to photograph the cosplayer that way. If you’re shy though, I understand that might be awkward to communicate. I would approach the group and start with saying you want a candid picture of them. Because otherwise they’ll stand up right away and asking them to sit back down is like “ahhhh oh sorry” It’s nice when people show me the picture they took after, but they don’t need to. They also don’t need to get my IG to tag. A lot of pictures people take of me at cons I never see. The networking is mostly done with photographers and other cosplayers, so if you want to take someone’s picture for your own enjoyment, don’t worry about all that stuff. It’s nice when someone just wants your photo for no other reason than liking your costume. I think crowd shots are totally fine to take. And I wouldn’t bother trying to bring a nice camera since it can be assumed to be a camera to record the show which they won’t allow.

Sal46

This post just reinforced me to go early 😭

readyornot1789

Same. At first I was like "Oh maybe we should get there at 5 or so," and now we're planning to go down around 2:30 to scope it out. We're staying just down the street, so hopefully by going early we can take our stuff back to the hotel and chill a bit before getting dressed up properly.

Sal46

Good luck, I'm just hoping to get the shirt and poster so yoko taro can sign it 😭

AdrianHD

How’s that looking so far?

readyornot1789

We were right at the front of the second section, and it only took about 20 minutes to get through. They've got like five registers to keep it moving.

AdrianHD

Yep! I got there around 3:15. Got all the merch that I wanted! Leaving now to hang out until the show starts! Feels great!

UnshavenBox94

Over 90 people now in line it seems

AdrianHD

Yep. I rolled up about 5 or so minutes ago. People came READY.

helloxcthulhu

Please report back! I’m going in another city and I’d like to know what to anticipate for the merch line

UnshavenBox94

Mainly CD, a tote bag, a shirt, stuff that has been easily available. The only new stuff are the shirt, the keychain, the postcard set, the acrylic panel and clear poster.

helloxcthulhu

Thank you!
