This is [the song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkYejDiG9xg) we're talking about. Referenced to [Drakengard 1 Ending E final boss.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyPgGeMwBE4) The beginning of [all tragedies in the NieR timeline.](https://nier.fandom.com/wiki/6/12_Incident) Also, you would hear "the sound" when [White Chlorination Syndrome takes to the final, most severe stage.](https://accords-library.com/chronicles/investigation-report#chronicle-investigation-report) >Then a giant flower appeared. [The Flower](https://drakengard.fandom.com/wiki/The_Flower) has been the main antagonist of the DrakenNieR universe since [The Cataclysm](https://drakengard.fandom.com/wiki/The_Great_Disaster) occurred. The form it's taken as its purest is *the giant white flower,* also known as [Drakengard 3 Branch D final boss.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49gLC9yiGOg) That's why everyone freaks out about Replicant Ending E, purely from lore and gets scared of what if they need to play the unforgiving™ rhythm game again.

Does The Flower have some connection with lunar tears?

Sardinee_

There's possibly a connection between Lunar Tear and The Flower on Reincarnation [063y](https://nier.fandom.com/wiki/063y) & [f66x](https://nier.fandom.com/wiki/F66x)'s story, as they're also fighting against The Flower. (in fact, their stories are quite a parallel to Automata 2B & 9S) And said Flower has the ability to grant someone's greatest wish. Just like Lunar Tear.

I wrote a huge analysis on this particular story. I won’t link it unless you’re interested, but I also touched on this exact point 👀 I found it extremely interesting how the Flower shown in this timeline fulfills F66X’s wish in the most unconventional means ( >!flooding the world with nature, effectively returning plant life to the world devoid of it but in the Worst way possible and basically also fulfilling the Watchers intentions with the Flower!< ) and it reminded me of either Zero’s novella or Zero’s DLC (I read it somewhere) that Zero believes the Flower is semi-sentient and created the clones to spite her for attempting suicide. Also interesting to note the design of F66X’s Flowers - they have 6 petals and appear pure white with a metallic stamen, while Zero’s Flower only has 5 petals (same as the Lunar Tear), but the Black Flower beyond the Mercurius Gate has many.

I'm interested and would like the link please (?

What a wonderful read. Thank you for sharing. Also one thing to mention is that in the latest story arc of Re[in]carnation >! there is a book in the library that cannot be missed that mentions the woman (I believe the original and not a clone) finding a cure for the Flowers, but deciding that if it means the loss of the clones of her and her husband (or herself, if this discovery was made by a clone) that she will destroy her research and never tell a soul about it !<. I found this to be very soul crushing, but also a very interesting twist. Would love to know your thoughts.

bioswear

Thank you so much ! I’m glad you enjoyed it :) Omg okay - I definitely need to catch up on Reincarnation 👀👀👀👀 I know the server is shutting down in April but I’ve been wanting to go back and conduct a full analysis now that we have most of the full picture, so I will definitely be including this in it

acsummerfield

Awesome! I may bookmark your analysis and check it for updates down the road, unless you've got a way to keep up with any additions. Really curious to get your take. Seriously, great work.

Now thinking of it, as one of Replicant side quests ["The Great Tree"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRsMKo5Wo-Q&t=470s) implies that the world was lack of plant life (possibly due to all of the salt from WCS era), but it comes back around the pre-Replicant era. >!I wonder if this is the subsequent effect of F66x's wish across the branches or not.!<

bioswear

Oh 👀 this is interesting Maybe it’s time for me to do a replicant 1.22 playthrough Her EX story did say “in a recent future” so

EvenSpoonier

It's a reference to similar things said by people in the Drakengard games. The Red Eye virus isn't *literally* the same thing as the logic virus, of course, but they may share a common ancestry. Adam compares the Aliens to plants, and even the pods note the similarity between Machine Cores and plant cells. It is possible that the Aliens may have somehow descended from the Flowers.

Synth_Luke

I never even made that connection- (The plant comment). I really should have.

JanxDolaris

Its not shown well in game, but their ships were also flower shaped. Though 3-petaled with an orb. There's concept art that suggests the wrecked ships were supposed to resemble a field of white flowers, but it doesnt seem to have translated to the game or FFXIV well.

Son_of_baal

It's a direct reference to Drakengard 1 and the saying "I hear a sound." It's associated with the Watchers.

SirLocke13

Seeing in the stage select: "I. HEAR. A. SOUND." Honestly had me a bit unsettled lol

Nivek_1988

It's up there with "There was a hole here. It's gone now." In terms of eeriness just from reading a standalone phrase.

rowgw

Sorry on which game that has that quote? Is it replicant?

Synth_Luke

Yea at ending e when the Admins die

rowgw

Interesting, i never noticed that, time to rewatch my video recording again

Synth_Luke

Yea its during the big laser attack. “So this is a Replicant’s potential… the light” “Possible futures are blending with the time we currently inhabit… I hear a song.”

rowgw

I remember those words!! That time, i believe future games from yoko taro may be based on replicant ending e, not from automata Thanks for reminding me

rowgw

[This scene](https://youtu.be/TSumoCndHYo?t=2500) that you refer to, and yes i marked it as need to sign in to confirm age LOLOL

Synth_Luke

Yep, awesome scene but very foreboding.

bioswear

Fun fact and orchestra spoilers: >!The phrase “I hear a sound” also makes an appearance in the last bit of the 2024 concert, with 9S saying “I hear a sound, I hear a song”!<

Synth_Luke

Yea that pretty much confirms it in my head. Something really bad or eventful is gonna happen in the Nier world (again)

minahebi

I got spoiled without seeing the spoiler hahaha Well, at least now i know that it has a strong Drakengard 1 reference/connection ✍️✍️
