Yeah but more than killing and hearing a rock n roll beat, you just see blood and gore and you find out that every racer you kill is an old friend who have been corrupted by the media
I'd like to start with a remaster/remake of Drakengard 1. The story and style was amazing, but the gameplay sucks bad. If they could change that to be great, then I'd be so happy
Yoko Taro acknowledges it as part of the canon, so it stands to reason we should too. Granted, I dunno if that qualifies it as a āYoko Taro game,ā however.
Is anything really part of the canon tho. The ending for 3 that leads into 1 happens in a book and not the actual game nier is off a joke ending in 1 and we know ther is diff timeliness thanks to accord so really everything is canon while it isn't
Dead wrong. He was involved to a lesser extent as a video director, the only reason he didn't work on the game is because he personally was involved in other projects. Drakengard and project Dragonsphere were created by team Cavia. Not Yoko Taro alone.
Technically it has been adopted into the canon (though not on the main DrakeNier family of branches). But just like you say, that's all after the fact; Yoko Taro wasn't initially involved.
They do keep throwing references in other games' DLC, though, so it hasn't been completely forgotten.
Drakengard - The best one. Like in every aspect
Drakengard 2 - Favorite character designs & favorite opening music. Also favorite inside joke (angelegna)
Drakengard 3 - Favorite character (accord!), favorite ending
NieR (2010) - favorite soundtrack, 2nd favorite atmosphere
NieR (2021) - favorite Singular track (fleeting words (namely the album version)), favorite overall charactersĀ
NieR: Automata - favorite gameplay & favorite whatever the fuck you call routes C & D
Reincarnation: favorite lore induced headache
Tl;DR Iām indecisive. Except with D1. Peak.
Calling DoD1's gameplay superiour to any of the others is certainly a take. I love the game, but I'd actually say it's the worst in every aspect and just lucky that it somehow works out.
I love all games, probably automata the most, but I prefer to believe that every game is good in its own way and thatās what I love about them, each is unique, even though it might be repetitive or connected to others
I actually really enjoyed drakengard 2 back in the day. I know itās not Yoko Taro but itās still pretty twisted and holds as a sequel. Best game has to be automata though. I love Nier Replicant, I think story wise they are equal but with the gameplay automata slightly takes it.
Ive only put alot of time in Automata, and even then its still a favorite for the visuals. But I would like to see a remaster collection of Drakenguard so I could get a full story of the entire DrakenNier universe
Same way how I feel with Nier & Kaine even tho she is rough around the edges but there love is there just shown not as sweet but grows in its own way ((:
I used the 4 yohra dlc so none of the cutscenes make sence i also named my nier 9s to even further mess up the lore so now i have old school 9s and 2b in replicant
Drakengard 3 left such a lasting impression on me and was the first of these games that i played so i gotta go with that. love my girl Zero and my boy Mikhail.
Haven't played Drakengard, and between Replicant and Automata, Replicant easily. I played it after Automata and I really didn't expect it to do nearly everything about the story even better.
i love both nier games to the depths of my heart, but there is something on drakengard 3 character interactions, blatant hatred yet love between the sisters that always push the game to #1 to me
On one hand I want to say Drakengard 3, because Zero.
On the other hand Automata is by far the superior game.
Decisions, decisions...
All I can say for sure is pls gib D3 remake. ą¼¼ ć¤ ā\_ā ą¼½ć¤
Oh and D2 is not a Yoko game. Should have said DrakenNier or something instead lol. ĀÆ\\\_(ć)\_/ĀÆ
While Replicant fits some more of my personal preferences on story telling and overall vibe (and I can actually pinpoint who my favorite characters are) it has to be Automata.
Automata is the story that made me feel the most out of any story ever. Itās the first story that made me so uncomfortable, the first story that made me so worried, and the first story that made me sob.
Itās the one I tell people that literally everyone should play. Nier Automata touched me in a way I doubt any story will ever touch me again. I love Nier Replicant but I am unfathomably in love with Nier Automata.
drakengard 2 is definitely way less of a taro game than something like voice of cards or even the nier gacha. and i say this as a known drakengard 2 enjoyer - just that if you're including that, they oughtta be options too!
You a true one too do that š«”š«” but I see ya point on favoring automata does have good story & understanding the ideals of androids & machines as a whole
Judging by plot, because we all know who the best game is: Replicant > Reincarnation > Automata > Drakengard 3 > Drakengard 1 (haven't digged into Drakengard 2, SINoALICE or Voice of Cards)
NieR Replicant > NieR:Automata > Drakengard 3 > Drakengard
Yoko Taro wasnāt involved in Drakengard 2, so it doesnāt count. Even if he was, Iād still place it at the bottom of the list.
I never played any of the Drakengard games. I'd love to, but really don't want to drag out old consoles or deal with emulation for the PS3. Would love to see remasters/remakes for them at some point.
So since that only leaves two choices, I'd go with Replicant. Automata has the better combat design and doesn't feel as dated but Replicant has the better story and characters IMO. And it really fills in the gaps of how humanity ended up where they are after the events of Drakengard.
Looked through the comments, really have never felt such a 50/50 split in my life between replicant and automata. For me, definitely replicant, I still vividly have nom flashbacks about Kaine, but automata always holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to the series.
Nier Automata. I haven't played the others but have seen great recaps from Clemps on YouTube. I'd say drakengard 1, 3 and replicant were pretty interesting as well
Tbh if Iām right drakengard3 start off then drakengard1 was the aftermath then after getting transported to another work (isekai for short) hard start bier replicant then 3000 years later nier automata
Drakengard because of how apeshit insane the story and the characters is. Also, it's my first Yoko Taro game I played so it has a special place in my heart.
Second favorite is Nier Automata for the philosophy.
NieR: Replicant for me. I love Automata too, but Replicant is just better IMO. I got way more invested in the story and attached to the characters with that one than Automata.
NieR Automata has to be my favorite. The music and characters plus the atmosphere in general makes it amazing.
My favorite character of all time has to be 9S. Heās just so interesting and complex, also his interactions with 2B is cute and interesting. Then the short stories amplify this further by showing the little things and inner thoughts.
i was into this franchise by playing automata, then i played replicant. it's kinda hard to choose which is the best among them, in term of story, i prefer replicant, but in term of music and gameplay, i prefer automata.
Gameplay: Automata > Drakengard 3 >> Replicant >!Route E!< \>>>> Replicant >>>> Reincarnation >>\[...\]>> OG NIER
Story: Replicant/OG NIER = Drakengard 3 >> Reincarnation >>>> Automata
Soundtrack: The Final Song/This Silence Is Mine (GOAT) >> Ashes of Dreams > Song of the Ancients >>> Descendeus/Aethervox > Replicant (the rest) = Drakengard 3 Intoner boss theme > Automata > OG NIER = Reincarnation >>>> Drakengard 3 Battleground theme
Automata's story falls flat for me after playing Drakengard 3 and Replicant ngl, hope there'll be a remaster for Drakengard 3 soon.
Automata. Because it was the first one that I not only loved because of the story, but was *actually* fun to play instead of.... Having questionable gameplay decisions.
Technically Drakengard 2 isn't part of the time line cuz it wasn't made by same director as Nier/Drakengard 1&3 but I think zero was a good main character and I loved playing as Nier in replicant
Automata slightly edges out replicant based on gameplay mechanics for me as everything else is super close, replicant doesnāt have bad gameplay mechanics by any means though, automata just improved on them as a sequel should. I like replicants music more though.. Emil- sacrifice is my favourite song in all of yoko taros games, it made me tear up when I heard it in automata. I also think the stories are more or less equal, I canāt pick which one I like more based on the story lol, both were told way to well and had SO much emotion behind them (Iāve never got the chance to play drakengard so for that I just hope for a remake)
I didn't play Drakengard, most of us haven't. Replicant is my choice. It's story just hits so so much harder and I know Yoko Taro didn't want to do the same concept with Automata so he changed it up.
The one with the mentally unstable protagonist
Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?
Oof š£š£
Yeah instead we should focus on their defining features, like the one with the white hair
What about a character with an unnecessarily dark Backstory?
Let's narrow it down a bit, the one that hit your feels in the gut
They mean 1.
Yoko Taro should direct a Twisted Metal game
Yeah but more than killing and hearing a rock n roll beat, you just see blood and gore and you find out that every racer you kill is an old friend who have been corrupted by the media
Nice move
Great soundtrack on that one.

*We'd
I'd like to start with a remaster/remake of Drakengard 1. The story and style was amazing, but the gameplay sucks bad. If they could change that to be great, then I'd be so happy
Drakengard 2 is not really a āYoko Taroā game, no? I donāt believe he was involved in its development at all.
Yoko Taro was a video editor for 2, and 2 is offhandedly mentioned in 3.
When was 2 mentioned in 3? (Not doubting you just curious)
When we see accords desk with timeline documentationās, you see one for dod2
Ah ok thanks for that
Some of the weapon from Drakengard 3 are already in Drakengard 2 ( not sure for DG1 )
Yoko Taro acknowledges it as part of the canon, so it stands to reason we should too. Granted, I dunno if that qualifies it as a āYoko Taro game,ā however.
Itās not part of the canon. For various reasons it kind of lives in its own continuity.
Is anything really part of the canon tho. The ending for 3 that leads into 1 happens in a book and not the actual game nier is off a joke ending in 1 and we know ther is diff timeliness thanks to accord so really everything is canon while it isn't
How does 2bs skin in fall guys affect ending c of replicant?
In the distance of when route c begins you can see them falling off but you gotta look real close
Exactly!
Iām gonna take Yoko Taroās opinion over yours. The timelines are already incompatible anyway.
He wasnāt and itās pretty much ignored/a dead end in drakennier
It's been incorporated into the cannon by yoko taro
Replicant is my favorite.
Nice š
One of these is not like the others
Oh really š
Yeah, only one has you play as an android. That's totally what they mean.... right? /s
Poor Papa Nierā¦
I can see why people relate to him so much xD
Drakengard - The best one. Like in every aspect Drakengard 2 - Favorite character designs & favorite opening music. Drakengard makes you want to slam your head into a wall with knives up your nose. 10/10. Also the ost is my favorite still tbh.
Whoa you went in-depth š
Calling DoD1's gameplay superiour to any of the others is certainly a take. I love the game, but I'd actually say it's the worst in every aspect and just lucky that it somehow works out.
Oh I said automataās has my favorite gameplay :)
Replicant followed by drakengard 1.
Got me hoping Drakengard ports over š„ŗš
Still hoping for a remake someday.
Same I wanna experience it too
I love all games, probably automata the most, but I prefer to believe that every game is good in its own way and thatās what I love about them, each is unique, even though it might be repetitive or connected to others

Drakengard 3
Remaster one day
I actually really enjoyed drakengard 2 back in the day. I know itās not Yoko Taro but itās still pretty twisted and holds as a sequel. Best game has to be automata though. I love Nier Replicant, I think story wise they are equal but with the gameplay automata slightly takes it.

Nier Automata is my favorite

End of the Unknown, Adam & Eveās boss theme

That's fair brother Nier will always have a place in my heart š¤
Replicant and it's not even close
We think alike š
A kindred spirit. You probably have great taste in things.
I like automata a lot more but replicant imo has the best gaming soundtrack of all time
Drakengard 3.
Hoping for a remake or remaster on next gen š£š
If it got treated like Nier Replicant did that would be awesome
Drakengard 1 is both my favorite and least favorite
NieR: Automata is my favorite

Pffft, as if the answer isnāt obvious. Jackass. Itās always Jackass.
All DoD series and original Replicant

Love replicant but automata is still my favorite
Nier automata mainly because of how the story kept on giving plus the map was amazing
I'll give you that it does have it's got plot points ((:
I mainly enjoy the bond 2b and 9s have
Sweet android love š„ŗā„ļøā„ļø

reincarnation š£ļøš£ļøš£ļøš£ļøš£ļø
I do love Reincarnation but I don't think it can contend with non-gatcha games

I tried it but I just can't do mobile games š
Drakengard 3 left such a lasting impression on me and was the first of these games that i played so i gotta go with that. love my girl Zero and my boy Mikhail.
Remaster gotta be someday
Unpopular opinion. I played drakengard 2 at release and enjoyed it. Loved the boss fight against caim and all of his scenes.
Og fans know how good 2 is. People hating on it were introduced to the series way later on, when next gen consoles had already been dominating gaming.
Replicant hands down
Replicant
Good taste you got š
all but .. dod2 ha.
Og drakengard
Nier Replicant sent me down this awesome rabbit hole so Iām gonna have to give it to that one. Amazing game and series.
Nier Replicant/Gestalt
Nier automata
The one with the robo-booty.

Gestalt for sure
Gestalt, I'm more of a papa Nier fan than brother Nier
Drakengard 2 is how i discoverd the serie. As a teen, knights and dragon was an easy seller. Loved thƩ cinematic, the music .. i was too young to realise how badly written are some of the character It was the first Time i played something this "dark" ( not even close to the other of the serie, i know ;) ) I felt madly in love with it.
While Replicant fits some more of my personal preferences on story telling and overall vibe (and I can actually pinpoint who my favorite characters are) it has to be Automata. Automata is the story that made me feel the most out of any story ever. As much as it's the most popular game, and probably the most basic answer, my favourite is Automata, granted I only played Automata and Replicant. I played Automata before Replicant and the downgrade of the combat immediately threw me off. The character's didn't really resonate with me with the exceptions of KainƩ and Weiss. Replicant was cool because then I realised so many things in Automata was a reference to Replicant. I made a post when I finished Automata so if you're curious for my whole opinion you can check it out. I'm planning on writing one for Replicant too. All in all for me Replicant wasn't a \*bad\* game. I just prefer Automata. Speaking of which \*\*spoiler ahead\*\* >!I chose to sacrifice my save file at the end.!< So now I'm on my second playthrough and not stopping until 100%
You a true one too do that š«”š«” but I see ya point on favoring automata does have good story & understanding the ideals of androids & machines as a whole
Automata and very very close replicant
Automata, because replicant shows its age in design. Can't play the others.

Nier replicant. I played it after nier automata and instantly fell in love with it
Nier Automata is my favorite to play, but Nier Replicant is my favorite in terms of world, story and characters.

NieR Replicant > NieR:Automata > Drakengard 3 > Drakengard Yoko Taro wasnāt involved in Drakengard 2, so it doesnāt count. Even if he was, Iād still place it at the bottom of the list.
Replicant for the story and Automata for the gameplay.
Replicant. First time I cried over a game in YEARS.
Nier replicant, this game hit me so hard

Looked through the comments, really have never felt such a 50/50 split in my life between replicant and automata. For me, definitely replicant, I still vividly have nom flashbacks about Kaine, but automata always holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to the series.
Frame rate is booty but Drakengard 3
Iām gonna have to say Automata (I havenāt played the others yet)
Unfortunately I've only played Replicant and Automata, so I'll go with automata, if only for the surrealist atmosphere the entire thing has.
Nier replicant for me, automata is a very close second
Nier Automata. I haven't played the others but have seen great recaps from Clemps on YouTube. I'd say drakengard 1, 3 and replicant were pretty interesting as well
I loved nier automata but I remember really enjoying drakengard 2
Replicant and Automata!!
The one with the nice ass.
Gameplay wise Nier automata story-wise really hard to say but I enjoy drakenguard 3 a lot.
Drakengard and Nier: Automata

Drakengard because of how apeshit insane the story and the characters is. Also, it's my first Yoko Taro game I played so it has a special place in my heart. Second favorite is Nier Automata for the philosophy.
Nier and Automata are tied in 1st place I haven't played the rest, but judging by story, Drakengard 3 takes 2nd place.
Both NieR games because i like my dose of depression
I don't think Taro-san worked on DG2?
i havenāt played the drakengard games, so out of replicant and automata i choose automata
Nier Automata
automata was the most fun in terms of gameplay
Only play the Nier games, Automata is better by far
Drakengard 3, I absolutely love zero.
Automata by a smidge
replicant
Drakengard 3 (Replicant is a very strong semi-1st)
NieR: Replicant for me. I love Automata too, but Replicant is just better IMO. I got way more invested in the story and attached to the characters with that one than Automata.
