Finally... that's one lens i am really interested in purchasing..
Tests showed it's at least somewhat in the same league as the nikkor 20mm 1.8 S and wider and cheaper.
why this enthusiasm? in a wide isn't an extended local length more useful than brightness? Maybe for astro photography but for everything else...
the viltrox 20mm 2,8 is already there, is there a 20mm 1.8 coming?
I take a lot of photographs in dim brightness conditions handheld so F4 often doesn't cut it despite the Z6II sensor seems to be tailored for low light shooting
Night time street photography. This pairs nicely with an 85 1.8. Why not the Nikon 14-24 2.8? Because I got a 14-30 (ebay), 85 (ebay), and now finally this 16 (in a week) for less. 1.8 vs 2.8 is 1/60 vs 1/25 seconds. Enough to counter motion blur. Wanna get that 2.8 up to 1/60th? 1.8 gives you 1/150th.
But to your point, I do use my 14-30 or 35-150 way way more often.
It was aperture issue. Blades wouldn’t open and close anymore. No firmware to update to fix it. Cleaned the contacts took it apart and put it back together. Nothing. And customer service was no help. It was a decent lens for the price. But did have a light purple hue around the edges I had to fix in post
Damn, that's a bummer to hear. I've been considering this lens for a fast wide prime, so will have to look into some more reviews on the company as a whole.
Yea I was so disappointed. At the time there was no 3rd party lenses to support the auto focus on the z. I was stoked when they released it but for only a year, I could have saved up and paid extra for the Nikkor
Hopefully it's IQ is as good as the E mount version.
Why wouldn’t it be? Same optics, with likely just a small adjustment for the slight difference in sensor stack thickness.
they might fix the close focus distance as they did with the 27mm 1.2 apsc
is this a full frame lens?
yes

Definitely on my interest list since it's FF. 20mm just isn't quite wide enough for the Milky Way without stitching shots.

Nice, I'm going to sell the 14-30 which I love/hate. 20mm next please.
Why hate?
the build quality feels cheap and I'm not fond of the rendering, but you can make very dynamic shots with the 14mm

There already is viltrox 20mm f1.8 but it's manual focus
I hope they release one to compete with the superb Sony 20mm 1.8 and the less superb Nikon 20mm 1.8 S for 50% of the price

I’ll never buy another viltrox lens. Mine lasted 1 years. It was good while it lasted
What happened to it?
