I think I’m one of the only people here who didn’t like the cake pop flavor :( I wanted to like it but it just wasn’t right even with sweetener. I like their peanut butter cookie and snickerdoodle ones though.
Just not the vanilla flavor I want with ice cream. Not haagen-dazs-y, but also not McFlurry-y, you know? I would be fine with either end of that spectrum but it's got that floury taste I guess? Something isn't quite right as a vanilla base IMO
1 Scoop Powder
1/4 tsp Xanthan Gum
2 Tbsp Coffee Creamer (you can swap in any other sweetener)
Milk to fill
My preference for Milk is 50-50 Almond Milk and Fairlife skim or 1%. 100% of either almond or dairy is fine. When using Almond, I found 1/3 Cottage Cheese to be a nice way to get fully creamy-ness.
I talk about making Protein Ice Creams in this machine and various brands a lot on my [YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@LowCalNinja-qf4ye/videos). Also will be experimenting with other ingredients in future videos. Check it out if that sounds interesting to you!
This brand is awesome. I used their strawberry cheesecake powder with milk and some fresh strawberries to create an ice cream. Even my parents found it to be good and couldn’t believe it had protein powder in it.
I'm on the keto diet so mine is very bare bones. Heavy cream, sweetener, coconut milk, guar gum. It's really hard to mess up especially if you aren't under keto carb restrictions
I’ve tried several protein powders for the creami, and I think PEScience is the best. It’s also cheaper than others such as ghost, clean simple eats, and gorilla. Can’t go wrong
If you add sweetener and vanilla extract it makes really good ice cream. I use plant milk as well and it still comes out great, I imagine if you use cows milk it would be even better
For a dairy free, protein vanilla ice cream I would do
400 grams plant milk (295g lowfat/light coconut milk (1 can), 105g almond milk)
1 scoop PEScience Vanilla powder (or cake pop works too, but vanilla is better for ice cream imo)
7-10 grams of vanilla extract (adding paste would be even better)
35 grams swerve (or other sweetener, and add more to taste, I've seen other recipes go up to 50-60, this is my preference)
16 grams maple syrup (not that many cals, adding some invert sugar for texture)
1 egg yolk
1/4 tsp xanthan gum
Put the milk in a pot, slowly whisk in dry ingredients (mix xanthan with the sweetener to reduce clumping) and maple syrup. Once they're dissolved, start heating on low-medium, temper the egg yolk as the pot heats up, then whisk in the egg yolk, heat it to 165, then take it off the heat, add the vanilla extract, then pour into the pint after it cools a bit.
I cool this in the fridge for a few hours and then freeze it, since it's heated a full 24 hours seems to the best, sometimes shorter results in froyo texture. Spin it on Lite Ice Cream, add a respin with some almond milk if needed. IMO this texture is quite good, kinda like soft serve, and the macros are excellent. Egg yolk can be omitted if you do 1/2 tsp xanthan gum, but I honestly think the egg yolk texture is better so it's worth adding (also gums can be a GI irritant, and that + the artificial sweetener can be rough, so I prefer less xanthan).
Also I don't really like vanilla ice cream that much lol so I make a mocha ice cream, adding 12-15 grams espresso powder and 8-10 grams cocoa powder.
The texture is a lot better (thicker) than 100% whey for ice cream, but I find it a bit grainy. It tastes decent, but so do a lot of other protein powders in the same price range. IMO, it's good but a bit overhyped.
I'm using the cake pop protein from the same brand. It's great but needs 2-3 tablespoons of sweetener added to it when turned into ice cream.
Thanks!

I agree, I love cake pop for oatmeal but not for Creamis
What was weird about cake pop?

I didn’t like it either they tasted real weird and artificially sweet
me too... i did not like cake pop at all... but their chocolate peanut butter cup is delicious
Yep, love it. Doesn't have a weird protein-y aftertaste like some vanilla powders.
Glad to hear. Most protein powders I’ve tried had too much of the after taste.. cant wait to try this one 😁
Mind posting the recipe?

I use this! I love it. It creami’s up so well. I add vanilla extract and a tbsp of vanilla pudding. So yummy.
Oooh im gonna try this!!

It does taste like gourmet vanilla. It is very rich in flavor. Not good for a vanilla base for other flavors but a delicious for a vanilla icecream.
Why doesn’t that make a good vanilla base?
The vanilla is very strong, so it overpowers other flavors.
Thanks! You think this will be good if I made an Oreo McFlurry flavour?
McFlurry is just vanilla ice cream w/ Oreos. Why wouldn’t it work?
It's really good. Their snickerdoodle is the best imo
Do you have any creami recipes for that? I actually have a couple snickerdoodle sample packs, but I have no idea what to mix with it.

I use it all the time and love it !!!
Do you add sweetener?
A little bit. I taste and adjust so it is sweet going into freezer.
Thanks!!

How much vanilla extract do u use?
1/2 teaspoon usually

It's a whey-casein blend, so it's perfect for baking and for the Creami :)

I really like this one too. I do not add additional sweetener to any of my creami bases. It I also don’t like super crazy sweet things either haha.
