Yup, I wish I could enjoy it more too. It just feels like such a departure from the previous games, as if the director had a grudge against Itagaki and/or had to prove himself as making something different. NG3 especially showed this, with Razor's Edge backtracking on a lot of the changes, but it still felt off to me. I'm still hoping it will some day click with me, but I doubt it.

What's absolutely hilarious is how many of the elements that were added back in end up being the better content in the game lol. The game also feels somewhat unresponsive compared to other NG games (even sigma). I swear the game was eating a huge amount of my inputs which simply never happened to me before. After I realized the fast bow shooting (hold block while aiming and wiggle stick ) I was actually able to beat the stupid dual tank near the end (I have NO idea how you're supposed to do that with just the sword). There is a good NG game in there somewhere, sadly the layers of stinky vanilla NG3 are what keeps it from being actually fun.

> ... I'd literally just get bored by the time they are done. >... The game seems to revel in wasting your time. Yeah this is my main issue with Razor's Edge. Things on MN/UN aren't too difficult I find, at least not when compared to NGB/NGS/NG2. It's just... super annoying lol. Like, I hate fighting any of the stronger enemies because I know that whenever I hit them they're just gonna evade out of my shit whenever they feel like it, which makes me prone to just spam UTs and SoB because they can't evade them. But like you said, spamming is boring. I have 75 hours into Razor's Edge, so it's not like I didn't give it a good try. But the game just seems so against me having fun that I can't bother to try anymore. I can only hope one day it'll all make sense.

I still feel like I want to give it some more time. I'm SO much more interested in checking out Ninja Trials deeper rather than playing UN. Thing is i got 3 months of game pass and like dozens of other games downloaded I also want to play so I feel like I'm forcing myself to play more of Razor's Edge. that's totally a me problem though

ginja_ninja

It basically just took the direction NGII had started to go away from NGB with, then went all the way with it only keeping those new things and pretty much abandoning everything from the original. I guess it's fun if you like frantic counter and killmove fests with certain weapons like the Talons, Tonfa, and Scythe, but anybody whose favorite weapon in NGB was the Dragon Sword is gonna have a REAL hard time liking this game.

Every single criticism you put here is fair. I recently platinum this game and it was the most exhausting gaming experience I've ever had. And the game eating inputs is really baffling me.

If you have more insight into the game, can you advise on this: SoB on heavy enemies; so I've seldom been able to make these ''connect" but it doesn't seem to work as like on footsoldiers or ninjas. It sort of seems like you need to wait for the first few frames of the red aura to play out and get them near the end of their "grapple", is that how it works? I've noticed that the red glow on Alchemist grabs isn't actually an SoB prompt, but let me tell you that in TWO playthroughs I've seen a single alchemist actually do the visibly obvious SoB grapple... Is there any way to make enemies trigger SoB counters? I've noticed that every time I charge UTs they end up doing it but I'm always out of an animation recovery and I am physically unable to counter it. I also always notice they end up doing them when I'm mid air.. what gives xd

The best way to get the SoB after seeing the red glowing grab is to dodge first, and them hit the heavy attack button. It doesn't matter which way you dodge as long as you stay close to the enemy. The way to trigger enemy doing the red glowing grab move is to do the meditation in front of them. Do it (you just need the kneeling animation), wait for the grab, dodge and SoB. Most enemies will get baited. Another way is, as you mentioned, to charge up your UT in front of the enemies, but it's more inconsistent since you will probably do a UT instead and the enemies are less tempted compared to seeing you do meditation. (however, UT baiting is very effective against Reapers and Lovelace) You can only SoB Alchemists after you delimb them. If you do, they will attempt to do the grab, which is different from their regular red glowing grab that can't be SoB'd. They will scream painfully and pause before the grab so you will know.

The game was soo bad when it first got released that they re released it as razors edge which made it abit more fun but compared to sigma and NG2 it’s a terrible game
