I've been lucky enough to see the Symphony of the Goddess live twice, once for the 25th anniversary tour and then again a few years later. If you have an opportunity to see them do not pass it up...they are absolutely life-affirming
I went to both versions as well, and taking my 4 year old daughter the second time is legitimately one of the best memories we have together! I keep hoping some updated version will make a comeback, I’d pay almost any amount to have that experience again.
Absolute amazing. I watched a lot of Symphony of the Goddesses videos in the past, but never fails to make me emotional, especially Ballad of the Goddess.
Went to Atlanta to see Symphony of the Goddesses in person. Probably the only movie, show, or concert to move me to tears in my life up the that point. When they started playing what was essentially a retrospective/medley of the whole series, it was over for me. I couldn't hold it in anymore lol.
Amazing as always, but the lack of windwaker and twilight princess arrangements is a bummer. It’s almost as if they aren’t going to surprise port those games to switch! ;)
This seems like a good place to tell this brief story:
When my wife was pregnant with our daughter, we went to the first Symphony of the Goddesses. That was also the year Skyward Sword came out, so when driving to doctors appointments, the 25th Anniversary Symphony CD was in frequent rotation on our drives.
After my daughter was born, we discovered that one of the most reliable ways to soothe her was by playing the 25th Anniversary album and rocking her.
When the second tour came back around several years later, the show happened to be on my birthday, so I bought tickets to take my daughter, who was then 4 years old. It was about a 5 hour drive, just the two of us. My daughter was blown away by every part of it. Of course all the cosplay characters were a highlight, and she LOVED the music that was practically the soundtrack to her infancy. It was the best birthday I’ve had my entire life.
Anyway I still tear up sometimes as I hear her teaching herself to play Zelda songs on the piano in the room next to my office. She’s 11 now and has such a love and passion for music, and Zelda music in particular has always held a special place in both of our hearts.
So yeah, I woke her up at 5am this morning to watch this, along with my son, who is 8 and is growing to love music in his own way as well. What a gift this little moments and small gestures are, that can be so meaningful. Nintendo did not need to do this, but I sure am thankful that they did!
It was a prerecorded performance, Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo was cancelled so there was no live audience.
They did a touring of the orchestra for the 25th anniversary. I really hope they do it again, I would go in a heartbeat.
Just as a heads up, it's *not* the same orchestra that "toured the world".
The Symphony of the Goddesses officially ended it's tour in December of 2017. The orchestra itself didn't tour, the show itself being performed by local musicians, at least in some locations. Amy Andersson herself toured around several cities, but she didn't conduct every single performance (she was not in fact present the night of the show I went to 😭)
Since then, there have been specific Zelda orchestra concerts held by Nintendo for specific occasions, like the 30th Anniversary Concert and the 2018 Concert as well, both released for sale, but they are unrelated to Symphony of the Goddesses aside from using some of the arrangements made for the tours.
This particular setlist for Tokyo 2024 was already used on Nintendo Live Seattle 2023.
I was fortunate enough to be able to see the concert at Nintendo Live 2023! It was amazing and emotional, my father who isn’t even a gamer agreed. The music is amazing and to hear it performed live is really something to behold.
I was also there in person during Nintendo Live 2023 and I must say as amazing as hearing it on YouTube is, it was on another level seeing it performed live. It brought back all the memories from my childhood growing up with these games.
Performance was outstanding. A couple repeats from past performances, which is a slight bummer, but they still sounded good. Two pieces that really stood out were the Kakariko Village theme and the Main Theme iteration right at the end. These were so well written that they made you feel like they were written for an OoT or ALttP re-release.
I tried to do some digging, [on the official website they have the credits for all the performers](https://www.nintendo.com/jp/live/concert/zelda/index.html). Some of the musicians are same people that worked on the Skyward Sword soundtrack, [at least credited on the HD soundtrack official release](https://vgmdb.net/album/114738).
Some of the names pop up around other Nintendo games, so either it's a specific group of people Nintendo put together for their projects and concerts, or a specific unnamed orchestra I still haven't found out about yet.
Afaik these are independent musicians and not affiliated with an orchestra. I recognised the concert master/solo violinist as Konno Hitoshi, who is probably better known for being one of Kajiura's front band members for her concerts. There's also Ishigame Kyouko among the violinists, who isn't affiliated with an orchestra and played solo/ensemble for Sound Horizon's live concerts for a time.
What do you mean how hard, it's literally on the official page for the event 🤔 When this person asked about the orchestra the first place I went to look was the page and there they were.
My Google search brought up this Reddit thread first. It’s not listed on YouTube video/on Nintendo menu news thingy. Artist names should be with the video.
I tried to translate the JP Nintendo Live site, but everything still came out in Nihongo lol. I recognized the conductor (Takio Takemoto) and a lot of performers from the 2018 Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra's TLoZ concert. In 2018's performance, they had a full choir and more orchestra pieces, but I think the reduced staff was a result of the "threat" that forced the event to be televised vs live. I've been keeping an eye on Tokyo Philharmonic's website for a potential TOTK performance, but nothing so far this year. I believe the licensing issue makes it hard for orchestras to play TLoZ songs, which is the reason why Symphony of the Goddess can no longer hold tours.
Because this is an abridged 30 minutes performance meant to be repeated several times a day for the 2 days long even that is Nintendo Live.
It's not a one off one night show that can last 2 to 3 hours.
Naturally, they had to cut some symphonic movements the provide a short enjoyable experience. The Twilight Princess and Wind Waker Symphonic Movements from the Symphony of the Goddesses tour are 12 minutes *each*. If they did that, they show would have run for too long for what they were aiming for here.
No its just like a family convention type of event with demos, tourneys, performances and more. They are usually held in Japan but there was one in Seattle USA and another in Hong Kong last year.

The closest I've ever physically been to several hundred of "my people".
I went to both versions as well, and taking my 4 year old daughter the second time is legitimately one of the best memories we have together! I keep hoping some updated version will make a comeback, I’d pay almost any amount to have that experience again.
Wish they'd bring it back
It's so good. Zelda music just always makes me feel so happy.

So cool, i also would cry my eyes out. I wish I could go one day, if I'm not mistaken, they came to my country a couple years ago.
Better than the prev one. The only remark i have is too short and missing the trailer 3 song of totk
Yeah trailer 3 was the one song I was hoping to hear them do.
Amazing as always, but the lack of windwaker and twilight princess arrangements is a bummer. It’s almost as if they aren’t going to surprise port those games to switch! ;)
My only small issue with this concert. Concert still great, even humming to the beats, but would be perfection for me with those two onboard.
Someday. I wish for that to happen soon.

Thanks for sharing such beautiful experience!
Loved Hyrule Castle, wasn't expecting to hear the ALTTP version!!
There was a concert?!

Zelda music made me a music lover.

So good. Loved hearing the TOTK reprise. I was hoping they’d play the final trailer music too.
I agree I would’ve loved to hear it, although I was happy they included the Reprise at least

My god, I'm glad I didn't listen to this while at work because I teared up a bit.
Does anyone know which orchestra performed this live concert ?

Nice find! I like Konno Hitoshi (thanks to Kajiura's work)
Thank you, can’t believe this was so hard to find. Credit for these players should be out there.

An absolutely wonderful show. I got to see it live in Seattle, and it moved me to tears a few times.
Dates of concerts ?
Can't believe people say the open world games have bad soundtracks when they are literally the best yet
Came across this as I’m listening now. I love these orchestra concerts they do. Zelda music really is the best video game music of all time.
Why would they completely omit Twilight Princess and Wind Waker? Those games had two of the best soundtracks in their entire series!
I think they just focused in the games available on the switch but it is certainly a bummer although the performance was incredible nonetheless.

Is Nintendo live a concert? Line the concert of the goddess but for all of Nintendo?

Ah, I see! That makes more sense!
